  1. I get chills just reading the words "those two episodes".
  2. I find it incredibly hard to believe that "fans" chose Love, Reign O'er Me for Jackie. I mean, it's a fine song (especially when The Who did it) but I just don't see tons of Voice watchers landing on that song for her. Or for anyone, actually.
  3. Robin in HIMYM didn't want kids either, and lost at least one relationship (Kevin, who I loved and wanted her with until the end of time) because of it.
  4. Oh, that clown smile! I watched her first sitcom a lot in syndication and she did not smile like that, so it must be plastic surgery gone wrong. I tried to watch her new sitcom a few years ago, and all I could see was that smile. At first I thought, well, she's smiling that way for emphasis because she just said something really snarky...but no. That was her actual smile and I just couldn't with it.
  5. And it really is, as Perry said, the most beautiful song.
  6. I was raised on margarine too, and we lived in Wisconsin where, when I was a kid, margarine could not be sold (I don't know if it was truly illegal, or what the deal was). Anyway, my grandma lived in Chicago, so when we went to visit her we always brought back tons of margarine. I didn't think anything about it at the time, but when I got older I was like "MOM? You SMUGGLED margarine across state lines?" I don't know why my mom was so enamoured of margarine but we never had anything else in our house.
  7. I thought the same thing about Kelly.
  8. I've skipped the last couple seasons, so not familiar with this format (I just started watching this ep on the DVR, obviously not voting lol). So....we don't get to see the coaching sessions? That seems to fly in the face of the whole idea that this is a team, and the coach is, well, the coach, at least from the viewer's standpoint. On the plus side though, I'm extremely glad that we don't get coaches comments after each and every performance. That got old and redundant, and could not possibly have been helpful to the performer.
  9. But that's the point of the ad - that no one would ever do that, but isn't it great that there's a company (whose name I can't even remember!) that will do that for you?
  10. Line of dialogue: "Do you have children, Detective?" Song: I'm completely on board with Hallelujah. Trope: A late-in-life baby on a (usually) sitcom, when the original kids are too old to be cute any more.
  11. This is only the second season of this show, thus (to me) there's no reason that the writers had to Cousin Oliver it already. It seems to me there are plenty of stories left to tell without adding a new character and spending so.much.freaking.time on her. Tess and Annie seem to be afterthoughts in Randall's life, and I am not a fan of that. There's a lot of Miguel hate on these boards, but I have never understood that and I felt really bad for him this episode. First, Rebecca basically blew him off when he mentioned he'd like to dress so he looked like a tree and no one would notice him (sad), and second during that whole toast. I'd rather see some stories about him than Deja - we've known him since the beginning.
  12. When they showed each knockout rehearsal, the coaches seemed to make a point of asking "What song did you choose?" or at least it seemed that way to me, so I came to the conclusion that each artist chose their own song....but whether that came from a pre-selected list of choices I'm not sure. I am not a Sheeran fan at all, but I DO love Castle on the Hill. It was such a poor choice for Mya; I don't understand why she'd choose a song about being chased by brothers, and cheap spirits, and hand-rolled cigarettes, and running from the law, and castles in England.....not that women can't do any of those things, but it's such a "guy" song to me, and she's a New Yorker! I wish she'd been steered to a song she was more likely to connect with. And no, the fact that the lyrics said "I'm on my way" a couple times didn't do it. There. Rant over.
  13. That would be hilarious! I, for one, after all the seasons of this show, could do without each contestant showing/telling us how they reacted when they saw who the advisor was. Surely that time could be spent showing us more coaching.
  14. I recognized him as the skeevy politician who sexually abused his stepdaughter on Law and Order: Criminal Intent. Haven't seen Allegiance or Gilmore Girls.
  15. Can you give some examples? I'm not disputing you, but I'm not sure what to look for "behind the curtain" and I'm curious.
  16. I don't know the background of this show at all, or why it's relevant to Canucks, but it was shown on the Madison, Wisconsin PBS channel in the 60's. It and Captain Kangaroo were the only kids shows I watched (maybe the only ones there were?) because my mom didn't let us watch cartoons.
  17. As I watch this, one thing strikes me (as it has in the past). I know these contestants are so-called music nerds, but can they really spout off the exact number of Grammys/ACMs /whatever awards and nominations that a particular mentor has won? My favorite artist on earth I couldn't do that. Yet they walk in the room and we hear a contestant say "Trace Adkins WOW! 4 Grammy nominations, 8 ACM awards!" (yes, my numbers are wrong) I admit that I'm old and have to leave shortly to get some kids off my lawn, but does everyone really recognize Julia Michaels by sight?
  18. What I want to know is, great actress availability or not, why is it necessary to give the Pearsons another daughter? Did the writers really think they couldn't mine any stories out of Tess and Annie? I think those actresses are pretty good, too.
  19. Yup, I'm only about 65 minutes into this, and it sure seems like we're back to singing = screaming. When did dynamics become a bad thing? I feel like the earlier seasons weren't this way.....
  20. I'm watching Pride right now on the DVR; he did not get picked.
  21. Note scooping?
  22. I cut out last season after about 4 episodes of the blinds, because I just couldn't with Jennifer Hudson. It seemed like these boards at that time were very pro-Jennifer, so I'm surprised that so many above have mentioned that she made last season hard to watch. Anyway, glad to be back watching and Kelly is a breath of fresh air. I am a staunch disliker of so many kids on the show, but oddly enough I liked the 14-year-old, a lot. I was pleased though that most of tonight's performers were over 21. Some over 30 omg!!
  23. I hate Gerald McRaney (I can't even explain it; it's totally unreasonable), so every time there's been a preview with him I am "ugh".
  24. You have totally and completely described me.
  25. And I always thought that the "th" in "clothes" was relatively silent; I mean, most people say "close". But now I hear the "th" over-enunciated everywhere. It just sounds odd.
