In the clip posted above, you could see that this is more of a Joy vs. Meghan thing instead of a viewpoint difference. Ana and Paula both share conservative views on the show, but Joy doesn't act as hostile with them as she does with Meghan. And Meghan is constantly on the defense and looking for ways to go after Joy. Even when Paula lent a helping hand by saying that Trump's base feels marginalized, Meghan still felt defensive. Meghan has been like this since the start though, which is unfortunate. Maybe it's due to her father's illness and she just can't handle the stress at the moment, but I think once she opens up and relaxes she'll be okay. She's good during the fluff pieces, just not politics. Sara grew a lot during her time on the view, so I'm hoping the same for Meghan.

I too loved her new show and hope she gives us some details on Season 2! Sherri wasn't a great co-host, but she's good in small doses and seems like she gets along with everyone. And if she can give me details about Trial & Error, then I'll be happy.

I believe her point was that the book would drive an even further wedge between Bannon and Trump and that his voters would have to choose between the two. We've already seen this with some people turning on Bannon and blaming him for the book and losing faith in what he supports. So even though it shows Trump in a bad light, it could still help Republicans finally get rid of the things Bannon and his ilk support.

I like when Paula is on. I know some don't like her, but she does provide a conservative view in more of a journalistic way. She was able to explain her views in a calm manner, which is nice. Plus it's funny when her journalist side comes through, like when she kept saying 'reportedly' when Joy was naming people who 'allegedly' insulted Trump. It's also funny seeing how awkward she was when Joy/Sunny went after Meghan today. She tried to help Meghan, but was drowned out. Meghan is fine during the fluff pieces, but I wish that Meghan would show up for the political ones. I do find Joy to be a bit much sometimes, but Meghan seems to take everything against Trump as a dig against her. When everyone is against your view, then it can be easy to be defensive, but just state your piece and leave it at that. Meghan supporting Trump is fine and 100% needed on this show, it's just that she can handle people who disagree with her. I wish she wouldn't take things so seriously and take a page from Ana and Paula when it comes to things like this.

True, but the first time is okay. After that I think it started to get redundant each time they did that. At times it almost felt like they were so amazed by her words that they stopped communicating with her.

Yara upstaged them all. I wish we could see more from her, because she seems awesome. I didn't know that she was half Iranian, but I liked that she mentioned that women are usually in the forefront. I'm not Iranian, but as a Muslim people automatically believe that women, like myself, are oppressed and don't know how to think for ourselves when a lot of our communities have women in the forefront. I think it was a bit annoying when they kept praising her age and eloquence, and she did look uncomfortable at time when they did that, but she really was awesome here.

I think Mia felt like if she waited for the warrant then the police would have arrested her for the other two deaths. She was able to block out a part of her memory in the beginning, but it all went haywire. If she had waited and continued to lie to herself about what happened, then she would have been safe. But I guess that particular memory would have continued eating up at her.

I'm not saying that he didn't go off the deep end, because he did and it was really messed up, but the initial idea of placing someone you dislike in a game or story and making lives horrible isn't something unheard of. I've heard of authors who have done this, which is awkward, but probably a lot more common than we care to admit. The straws and lollipops make the situation irredeemable, but the basic premise of doing something like this is the thing that will stay with me the most. As for the question of what point do these people become people, I feel like White Christmas presented this a bit better so I didn't have any unresolved feelings on that front. Cookies are always going to be unethical to me and if that technology is ever invented, then there needs to be Cookie rights established so they don't get abused. They may be code, but the moment you give them a sense of self is the moment they need rights. You know what's interesting though. In Hang the DJ, the cookies there all died or vanished once they were matched and yet no one feels bad about it. (Or at least I haven't seen much discussion on that). It's done in a cute romantic way, but they're still cookies and they're still being used in a somewhat unethical way. I didn't care for San Junipero either. I think most people like romance and feel good stories, which is why San Junipero and Hang the DJ will resonate with a lot of people. Since the series is fairly bleak and unforgiving at times, so those episodes help relive us of that.

My list would be: 1. Crocodile - I sympathized with Mia at first, but when she starts killing person after person and then a kid she became the worst person on the show. The thing is, the technology used here, while minimal, is the reason why she went psycho. If there wasn't a memory capturing device, would she have been found in the first place? Would Shazia and her family be okay? I liked that the technology part played a role without being the main focus of the episode. It felt very Black Mirror to me and I enjoyed this a lot. It also reminded me of Shut Up and Dance, and I really loved that episode. 2. Black Museum - I love the vignettes. White Christmas is my all time favourite episode, so I liked that this story had multiple ones in it. Plus we got to see a lot of callbacks done in a in your face, but relevant way. It did have a happy ending, but I didn't really mind it because of the circumstances in the episode. 3. USS Callister - I enjoyed this one as well. We start off with a nice but cowardly guy who ends up using cookies as revenge. It makes him a jerk, especially since he killed a CookieKid, but at the same time it's just code. Once upon a time, my sim spouse cried one day and was depressed since I refused to do anything for him. But to be fair, it was his fault because he burnt part of my house down and I was angry. If I knew that he had actual feelings and wasn't just code, would that make me a jerk? I don't know (maybe). On one hand, Daly is a horrible person, but on the other hand real people put people they know in games and attack them to vent out their frustrations. (or they use the dart and picture method) The fact that he died in the end and the fact that RealNanette will know she played a role in this won't be easy for the humans. Daly wasn't likeable, but he was doing something a lot of people did which is why this episode resonated quite a bit with me. 4. Arkangel - Overall, I found it okay. The technology used here was messed up, but I feel like more could have been done with it. 5. Metalhead - it was beautiful to look at, but I don't know what the point here was. I had a lot of questions, but none of them were ever answered or pondered over. Considering how powerful those dogs were, I don't think she ever had a chance. 6. Hang the DJ - I'm just not a fan of romance stories. Plus, the cynical side of me wants to say that even though they are a 98.9% match, they could still break up after a week or so. Real life is different from a questionnaire or cookie matchup. Even though the leads were cute, I could see how she would resent the fact that she'd always have to make the first move. While he would be annoyed that she doesn't understand his feelings or want to talk about feelings in general.....

I would switch Crocodile and USS Callister, but other than that my list would be the same. :)

Not a bad episode, but I kind of feel like I wanted more from this. Like maybe if we saw the place where these three came from at the end. It's obviously sealed off, but how did that place get established? Are the dogs just meant to keep people there and only go after those who step outside? Why didn't she tell everyone to carry paint with them when they go out? Why go out in the first place if you're guaranteed to get killed? How are these dogs being powered? By the sun? I get why this episode was here, but at the same time I didn't really care for it much. It was beautiful to look at though. I read a comment that speculated that the dogs were advanced military weapons meant to take down roaches. I could see the army getting rid of humans and using this instead, as it would save them tons of money in the long run. I thought the same thing. I'm not sure if it was the same house, but it definitely looked like it.

Shazia mentioned that if Mia didn't do it, then Shazia would have to inform the police and get it anyways. So Mia thought it would be easier to just go through Shazia and try to black out her memory as oppose to having the police involved and going to jail then. Which is stupid, because Shazia mentioned that it would take time to get the police and paperwork in order and by then Mia could have lied to herself and gotten away with the murder. But she panicked and instead of seeing countless of opportunities to get out of the situation, she just erecting more and more walls around her. (It's a nice contrast to the beautiful open setting and the cage that she placed herself in)

I loved this episode. It did have a happy ending, but it worked here since it was bittersweet and we got to see a lot of horrible stories too. I felt bad for everyone except the main villain. The doctor was crazy, but that was due to the device in his head. It's interesting that he started off as having a low saving record, so he was recruited into the pain machine thing and became a great doctor. Only for it to backfire and he became a murderer. It reminded me of this episode of RadioLab where a guy got brain surgery and it changed his behaviour to the point where he was caught checking out child porn. The act is wrong, but it's due to outside interference. The second story was another person who was in a painful situation and got exploited. It's never a good idea to have someone in your head like that, it's unethical and would play out exactly like this. I feel bad for the wife, but she was a major pain. At least he was still a good guy and didn't delete her. But wow. When I first saw Clayton lying there in the cell, my first thought wasn't, "Oh damn, why do you have to take White Bear to the extreme?" it was, "Wow, that guy looks like Kobe. That's not Kobe, right? Kobe in Black Mirror?" I'm glad it wasn't him, but when he mentioned celebrities I was a little worried. Maybe I'm bias, but there's so many cases of black men and women being held indefinitely for crimes they didn't commit, so I don't think he was guilty at all. For so many people to come and enjoy his suffering. I kind of wish the Hate in the Nation guy went after them too. This was a great end to the season. I was annoyed by her too and completely understood why he was so frustrated. Let him breathe! But at the same time, if he's the only one she can talk to and she has nothing to do in there then I get it. We all make comments while watching TV and that's pretty much what she was experiencing. The only difference is that the TV could respond back to her..... Hmmm, what if there was a reality show where the people on the show could hear what everyone watching said. So it's like Keeping up with the Kardashians or Survivor or Bachelor, but the audience is always heard. Every good and bad thing is being streamed to your head while you are competing or just going about your daily life. It would probably drive the contestants crazy, but it would make for great television.

I think Black Mirror has ruined me, because I really don't like the romance episodes. This and San Junipero were my least favourite, only because I expect this show to make me feel horrible and/or disturbed. Then again, I'm not really into romance in general, so maybe that's why. The app is an interesting idea though, but do the real Frank and Amy know what happened in the app, or do they just know that they're a match? For a lot of match making services, there are questionnaires and you get a match, but here their simulations rebelled. I don't think that necessarily guarantees a bright future, but it's a cute idea. This by far is the happiest episode in the series. The technology used was a good one that I can see being popular if used in real life and no one died or had to deal with a pig. It was okay...but not what I want from Black Mirror....which makes me sound like a heartless person. Sorry.

I think Marie already exhibited that sort of behaviour and the device just made it worse. I'm not a parent, but I did think it was weird that Sara was still using a stroller when she was that big and could clearly walk just fine. I do get she was afraid when Sara disappeared, which is normal for anyone in that situation, but that device took someone who was already having helicopter tendencies and just exasperated it. I did find it funny that the mom was sleeping with her former patient who is involved with someone, but got angry that her daughter lied so she could sleep with her boyfriend who is probably only 18 or 19. The drugs were one thing, and I get that, but she went off the rails when she found out a guy was involved. Sara not killing herself was shocking though, because I fully expected it to happen when she got dumped and found out about her mom. I'm glad the show didn't go there though, but I really wonder what's going to happen with her. Marie is going to contact the police and there will be an Amber Alert out there.

I liked this one, since it reminded me of Shut Up and Dance. Even though Mia tried to do everything to keep herself safe, she was foiled by a house pet. People will do anything to hide crimes, but wow is she stupid. Covering up the initial crime was bad, but she could have said she was coerced into it. We already saw that she didn't want to do it, but was pressured into it by her boyfriend at the time. He also said that he'll leave her out of it, which would help as well. But to kill three people and a baby. I was hoping she wouldn't kill the child, but then she did. What a horrible person from beginning till the end. My only complaint is that when Shazia is about to die she was saying 'inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'oon' which means 'We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return', but that phrase is usually said when someone else dies and you're offering your condolences or when something bad happens. If you know that you're going to die, Muslims usually say (or at least we're encouraged to try and say) ' La ilaha illAllah' which means there's no deity worthy of worship except Allah. But that's minor and not something anyone, other than a Muslim would pick up on.

I binged watch Black Mirror before this season started, so when CookieNanette mentioned that she had photos that she could use for blackmailing RealNanette, I was worried that she'll end up being a horrible kiddy porn person and the others would stop fighting to escape. Daly seems like one of those 'nice guys' who are just as bad their macho super-misogynistic counterparts. If he had the power, he'd be the same, but he doesn't so he resorts to abusing cookies instead of just standing up for himself. I saw someone mention that this was akin to someone creating sims of their workmates and giving them bad lives. If they weren't cookie-esque, then would we feel bad about the abuse? Daly would still be a jerk, but cookies are not real people. They're just code. We're rejoicing over their escape, without feeling bad that a guy in real life died and another person is probably going to go into deep depression knowing that they played a part in it. I'm still glad that the others are free, but there's going to be some consequences for the humans soon. Especially since there's no proof that he did anything bad, since RealNanette took everything.

I kind of feel like White Bear was just the future version of what happened here. The people who run that prisoner theme park could have used this as a means to show how serious they are about justice, but since stealing and whatnot would be viewed as a bad thing, they probably started to focus in on actual criminals and thus White Bear came to be. Edit, if you look at the news article about the racist ceo, there are mentions of past episodes on the sidebar.

I've been binge watching Black Mirror and I found this one a lot lighter compared to the earlier episodes. Which isn't a bad thing, but it was amusing since I think this is the first one that takes place in America. I suppose it also goes into the whole American Dream, which sounds nice on paper but it's a lot more difficult if you're not part of a certain status. I did wonder if there's anyone who doesn't have this service though. What if you don't opt in? Would they ding you for it? I remember in real life someone asked me to sign up for a credit card and when I refused, saying that I don't need it and don't use credit cards, I got a look of bafflement and then a lecture about how important credit is in life. So maybe the same thing would happen in this world? It was sad to see others give her one star just because she has a low score. They could have helped her, but because she's a low score they'll go out of their way to make it lower so they don't look bad. I don't like the over use of the f word, but I thought it worked well here. At the end, they could say whatever without fear of repercussion.

TDS 3.0: Season Three Talk
CheezyXpressed replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
I laughed quite a bit when Trevor kept going on and on about DMX. And Roy's bit with Republican hip hop made me giggle. There's something funny about Mitch's face on that body and moving his hands. -
hehe, that's true. :)
-
Even though I hated the segment when it looked like the other co-hosts were babying Meghan and even though I still feel like Meghan needs to stop viewing this as a Republican job and more of a different view one, I still don't really buy this article only because it's the dailymail. I can believe that she's been having a hard time, because we've seen her say that, but I don't know if I can fully believe this article.
-
I kept wondering why she was so excited about Boxing Day. It was confusing, because I don't think Americans have that day. Now that I know it's her due date it makes a lot more sense.
-
That's actually the style right now. I've been seeing a lot of people doing that lately.
