I wish someone asked Sunny if Trump's people can sue Stormy for doing interviews like this. If she's not allowed to talk and she's being asked these questions, then it's insinuating something and can be seen as another way of talking. I suppose if she gets sued then it would add more flame to the fire, but I do wonder if it's possible. Unfortunately no one asked. I wonder why SE Cupp wasn't at the table when the gymnast was speaking. Not that they needed her, but it seemed weird that they kicked her out for that interview and had her in for everything else. The end was funny with MM turning red. She covered her face, but her scalp was getting pinker and pinker as they continued to talk about her cabin escapades.

Oddly enough, I was okay with this vagueness because it's about Whoopi's profession. I was more annoyed when she interrupted Sunny about why Evangelicals still support Trump. Sunny was saying how from a religious standpoint it hypocritical, since Trump has been divorced many times, had affairs, and doesn't act like a man of God. But then Whoopi kept hollering about how only God can judge and stuff. It had nothing to do with the point Sunny was making or the topic. God can judge, sure, but if you are claiming the moral high ground and believe certain things are the truth then you can't claim you support Trump since he goes against everything you stand for.

Jeana looks amazing! And it's crazy how short she is, because it doesn't show at all in her shoots and when she's by herself. During panel when Law was saying how he doesn't even remember how she use to look, since this makeover was amazing, I loved that you could see Sandra in the background cheering for her. I thought it was sweet. Rio looks good, but I don't know what's going on with her eyebrow. Brendi, Christina, and Liz are a mess. I can't stand people like Brendi who always try to find a problem about themselves and pick fights with others. She kept complaining about how her look was too masculine and they styled her that way...um, did she see what Sandra was wearing? Her look, despite her hair, was way more masculine than Brendi. Christina is just...she seems weak, but keeps putting on airs that she's better than everyone. And Liz is still creating fights and crying for no reason. Liberty looks a lot better and she apparently changed her views on Trump during the show, so it shows that she's willing to learn. The overall makeovers were fine this time. I was hoping we'd see some really crazy ones like before, just because Tyra does like to mess with the girls.

Just to be on the safe side I'm moving this here...only because I don't want to get deleted again lol. (mods, this might sound political but I do have a point that ties into Meghan's role on the View...so have mercy please) As a Canadian, I don't know much about McCain's politics and how he was before the run against Obama. However, what I've noticed is that lately he's spoken out against Trump, but he's still voted with the Republicans in everything. That's what I meant when I said Meghan is trying to emulate her father on the show. She may disagree with Trump, but she's putting party before logic and choosing to defend Trump no matter what. It's also the reason why she can't understand why Ana is a Republican even though Ana clearly hates Trump. And even though Ana has always been like this and never deviated from her views, but we've seen, just like Meghan said, all the Republicans fall in line. Again, this is just due to my limited knowledge on how things were like before. But I think Meghan, even though she has nothing of value to say, is showing us what Republicans and the regular ones really are like in this current climate. That's also why I think if Ana becomes a permanent host then Meghan should stay too just so we can see the dynamic between the two. With Joy, people can say it's a democrat republican thing, but with Ana you can't say that because she's a republican and smart.
-
Hmmm. I want to give Meghan the benefit of the doubt because it's clear that she's only here to be pro Trump no matter what. So it never really comes off as sincere when she talks and she gets overly emotional when someone disagrees with her. Maybe she is Pro Trump, I don't know, but I was hoping she'd do better once she finds her footing here. She was getting better. I know others don't feel this way, but I did see her getting better last week and I do think she does better when Joy moderates the table on Fridays. Today wasn't good. I'm not sure if it's because Ana is there and she is feeling threatened for her job, but she it felt like she took several steps back. To say that Ana can't be a Republican is stupid, because she sits daily beside Sunny who is a conservative liberal. People are not going to be 100% for everything and for all of her hatred for labels and dividing people, she's doing it the most. It's unfortunate, but she's showing that Trump supporters don't support issues but pick sides and stop listening. I want her to do better, because I don't want to see a stream of conservative people come and go on the show. But if they bring in Ana, then I think Meghan staying would be a good thing. Not because of what we saw today, but also because of what we saw today. There are different kinds of democrats and different kids of republicans so maybe it might help her do better. But wow, even Whoopi wasn't having it today.

Tuesday looks good. Outside of Ann Curry and Ana, I have no idea who the other guest co-hosts are or what they do.

I laughed when MM was saying how she thought Justin was releasing a country album after she mentioned the names of the songs. This might be surprising, but I think she does a lot better when Joy is the moderator as oppose to Whoopi. And she's been cooling off on being super defensive over everything and just letting her own opinions stand. While I don't agree with everything, I do think she's doing better now than before so I'm happy. Yvette was great and I always enjoy Paula when she's there, so I thought today's episode was fine. After that happened her career definitely took a hit. She was banned from pretty much everywhere and had to release an apology about it. If you're a Janet fan, it was pretty annoying to see her career take a hit while Justin's career flourished. I wasn't even a fan of hers, but Justin has always rubbed me the wrong way. He got popular bashing Britney and then pretty much pushed all the blame on Janet for this....plus, as a kid, I was a JC fan and not his so I was also frustrated that he had a career and JC didn't. Her career is better now, only because it's been so long since she's been out there.

TDS 3.0: Season Three Talk
CheezyXpressed replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
I just love how over it he sounds about technology, because some of it is really stupid and weird. -
There was a case of a football player accused of rape and his lawyer said that he had no chance so they plead guilty. After five years in prison, he was found innocent and the girl lied about everything. This, thankfully, isn't the norm, but like Former Nun said being raped is horrible but being accused when you're innocent can land you in jail for a long time. And if you're black, then it will be even longer. Now that non verbal cues have been brought into the discussion, what if someone has a bad date and uses that to convince themselves they were assaulted just like the Aziz accuser said. Both men and women are going to have an incredibly hard time navigating down this road.
-
g As a youngish person (younger than MM), I don't get the flu shot either. I use to, but kept getting a really bad case of the flu right after. Once I stopped I stopped getting the flu. I know it sounds bad, but for my body getting the flu shot = getting the flu and strep throat on top of that. That's why a lot of people are annoyed and angry about the Aziz Ansari allegations, because this type of story doesn't help the MeToo movement. It just makes people, both men and women, confused at what consent is and whether men should keep checking every five minutes. A bad date, regret, and awkward feelings doesn't mean sexual assault and/or harassment. Even in the story, the lady consented to a lot of stuff and when she verbally said enough he backed off each time and called her a cab home. It's unfortunate, but now that this story is out, there are people bashing Aziz Ansari and likening him to a predator when he isn't. It just really does a disservice to the whole MeToo movement and I wish the hosts talked about it more. The problem is that if you say anything negative and you're in the public eye, you'll be bashed for victim blaming. A conversation needs to happen, but everyone is afraid.

I thought it was interesting that they said that Sandra knows how to photograph herself, but not let others do it for her. That's actually an interesting point as to the difference between an instragram model and a regular model, but I kind of wish they told the girls this just so they can practice when they're at the house. Rio is beautiful, but they did her dirty with those earrings during the photo shoot. I couldn't pay attention to the photo since all I could see were those two huge globes on her neck that made her head/neck look weird.
-
This is why MM was defensive, because while I agree with you I think in the story regarding Aziz the lady did multiple things that said yes. He went down on her and she was okay, he asked and she consented into continuing not once but twice. When she felt uncomfortable, he backed off and then they started again only for her to feel off and ask to go home. He obliged and called her a cab. Aziz may have come from the hyper male culture of pushing for a yes, but in how his accuser describes it he backed off each time she gave a verbal cue and her non verbal ones were the type that only mind readers could understand. I think that's why Sunny was making comments on making out and stuff, because (and I don't have experience here) but if you're making out with someone and things get hot and heavy and a hand lands on a breast, then does the man stop and say "Hey, do you consent to this?" Because I don't think people do that. If oral sex is being performed, does the man stop and say "Hey, just wanted to make sure that this is still consensual." Non verbal cues are only things that mind readers would understand, so you need to express it out loud if you're not comfortable. I think as women we need to stop looking at men and saying that they need to constantly ask for consent, when we have to be woman enough to say stop and no when we're uncomfortable. A bad date is just a bad date and the fact that there are people out there look at this story and saying that Aziz is a hypocrite and whatnot makes no sense to me. It would have been a better discussion if Joy was there, because MM was too defensive, Whoopi was being Whoopi, and while Sunny asked questions that sounded stupid they were relevant to the topic at hand. Joy would have been open enough to discuss this without worrying about hate or whatever.

In the context of the Aziz Ansari story, I think Sunny was asking these questions because that's where the conversation is going now. The majority of comments I've seen regarding this allegation has been that it was a bad date, which I agree with, but there is a vocal minority who say that this was harassment. So the question of what if you make out, do this and do that, does it still mean this or does it mean that is a valid one, even though it does sound stupid. I recently read that 25% of millennial think someone giving you a compliment or a drink is harassment, (I don't know what's wrong with my generation) so it's unfortunate but these questions need to be discussed or more stories like this will be brought up to put men down. Regret is not the same as consent, but we've reached a point where if you say anything like that you can be attacked. Pamela Anderson and Margaret Atwood recently were for saying similar things, so I could understand why MM was kind of nervous about this topic.

Rihanna recently came out with a purple, green, and blue lipstick (along with many others) so those colours are in style. I didn't think it looked too bad on Meghan. I wouldn't classify Sara as an Independent though. She does look at things from both sides, but I think someone who has been looking at politics for awhile and isn't with the two major parties would have provided more insight as to why there's a significant group that doesn't believe in the news. It's not just Trump, which is what Joy and the panel were saying. And it's not just his base that feel this way. I don't want to expand on this more since it's off topic, but I just want someone who has always been an independent there because there's more than Democrats and Republican voices needed on the View.

She definitely seems weak, since she was about to break down the moment the judges went after her. I do wonder if some of her problem lies with the tone of her voice. If she mentioned who she worked for in a "I worked with this person and this person and I'm just so excited to be here." Then that would have helped, but her tone makes her come off as being pretentious and over it, which turned off the judges. I'm willing to give her the chance, but the only reason for her being here is for ratings. I just hope she doesn't become a punching bag. It already reminds me of Kelly from season 3 (?) who went from bubbly but too much in the beginning, to a mess by the time she left.
-
I don't think she had a favourite, but Randall was someone who had more special needs with his anxiety, school and his blackness. When parents have multiple kids, it's easy to feel you're ignored and forgotten, but from the outside it's just that the parent is prioritizing who needs more attention. (I'm not a parent, so this is me just assuming things. Parents please feel free to dismiss this or not) I sympathized with Kevin, but at the same time I kind of don't. In my family, we joke that I get ignored most of the time. I don't have any commonality with my parents and I know that I'm not the favourite. Does it suck to know this? I don't think so. Just like you are your own person, your parents are people too. Sometimes I feel like the show's romantic view of Jack made the kids view Rebecca as a less than ideal mom. So even though there are clear flaws in Jack's character, the kids won't realize it but they'll be quick to lay the blame with Rebecca since she was their full time parent. A great example of this is Kate. She viewed food with love due to Jack. When Rebecca set up boundaries, which is what all parents do, Jack undermined her and rewarded Kate with more food. This is probably what triggered her massive weight gain after he died, because she used food to comfort her and food = Jack. However, she might view it as Rebecca's fault since she was on her case a few times about food. We've seen Jack ignore Kevin multiple times already, but Rebecca is getting most of the blame because she's alive.
-
I'm glad the show is adding more layers to Rebecca, since last season she was depicted as a horrible person and Jack as a saint. But I was especially glad to see Randall defend during the therapy session. Rebecca had to take care of three kids without much help from Jack. Jack is perfect, sure, but Rebecca had to be the parent 100% while he could be a friend. That makes her look worse since she had to bare that responsibility. With Kate, Rebecca will always be the villain. Even when Rebecca tries, Kate will take it the wrong way. Kevin is very much push and pull, but with Randall he's there. Even after the whole William thing, he's still there and that's was a huge thing that she hid from him. The fact that he's still respectful, still cares for her, and doesn't attack her is the reason why she's closer to him than the others.

Their discussion on what news to believe or not felt kind of redundant. They can blame Trump on this all they want, but many people stopped believing news organizations long before he got into office. The fact that Trump openly talks about it is what his base likes. This episode made me feel like they really need an independent at the table, because everything is black and white here and there are other choices.

He stated that he came to like Steve and didn't feel good about what happened to Bannon. He then defends him, while giving him some compliments. Sure he said he doesn't agree with Bannon, but to defend him when he was so bad doesn't look good to me. I'm reading more reviews of his book and people are saying it sounds like fiction and fake news (even though the reviewers hate that term). It seems like he's not that credible and said what we all know. He may have been part of the white house for awhile, but he should release tapes of what happened. And if he only spoke to people who are on the outs with Trump, then it looks even worse for him.
-
Am I the only one who felt like Wolff came off badly in the interview? Steven Bannon seems like a horribly disgusting person, so to hear Wolff defend him was off putting. I was also ready to tell Meghan to shut up, especially when she was like, "Do you consider me to be a Jarvanca Republican?" That was stupid and she took it way to seriously. When he asked her to look at who was trying to discredit him and she said, "Let me finish." I thought that was rude. But then she listed all the names and that made me question Wolff a bit. He also admitted that things were said off the record, which makes certain things shady. I've read reviews from reviewers that I admire and abhor Trump and they said the book felt very salacious with no real facts. He was here to promote his book, but I just felt like something was off the entire time. (ps. I don't like Trump, so this isn't due to my political stance. It's just that Wolff didn't come off as great here and I wish Paula was around to ask proper questions)

So I'm guessing Paula wasn't in today? (I know she only shows up for Fridays, but she would have been good here)

I haven't watched the show since the British Invasion, so it's been awhile. Mia was stunning with a unique face, but her quiet personality didn't fit the show. She would have gotten the 'no personality' edit or only shown when she's getting her photo and nothing else. What they did to Erin was cruel, but her reaction to finding out that she was staying was endearing. I might have teared up too. It would have been stupid to say that there's no age restriction and cut the only one who is in her 40s. I hope she does well. I feel bad for Christina. She didn't give off a good impression and the only reason she stayed was because it's good television. (Same reason why they kept Liberty) I hope the judges don't rip her to shreds every week, because it looks like she has a weak heart. Rio and Coura seem like the top girls so far. I do like Jeanne too and it looks like they're going to remove her wig once they do the makeovers, so she's going to stay for a bit. I don't think Erin is good enough at this time, but I'm rooting for her too. Sandra is Muslim, but she's not the first on the show. She does remind me of Kim K though.

I thought Meghan was a lot better today. I thought she was sincere when Ashley was sharing her experiences, plus she seemed really into ANTM too. With regards to Ivanka, I thought Meghan mentioning her family made sense here. But at the same time, I kind of feel like if Ivanka wants to tweet that she can tweet that. Lena Dunham tweets stuff like that all the time and she defended her friend and put down a woman who was accusing him of rape. When people close to you are accused it's hard to accept and believe it, but that doesn't mean that you don't support the cause. It could be a smoke and mirrors, but at least it's something. I hope Paula is there tomorrow, but I don't think she will be. When it comes to bigger interviews like this, she's been pretty consistent in asking good questions.
-
Hope you guys don't mind me moving the discussion here, since this is about Meghan more than the show. :) I get that, but at the same time I still think it plays a huge role here. McCain was vilified by Trump, but he still voted with his party. He put party before everything and that is what Meghan is trying to emulate here. She may not like Trump, but she really seems to view any attack on Republicans as an attack on her and maybe her father. I don't think this is the main reason, but it does seem to be a contributing factor on why she gets so emotional for things that don't warrant such fervour. People handle stress differently, so I don't know if it's fair to say that stress isn't an issue with her. It could be, along with a lot of other stuff, but like I said before I do think it's a contributing factor on why she's just not gelling with the table. I liked Sara too, but she definitely had to find her footing with the show. That's what I meant about Meghan. Right now she sees herself as the only Republican, when she should just see herself as Meghan. I'm not sure who told her that she had to always go after Joy, but she needs to calm down and just speak on what she knows instead of what she thinks other people don't know. If she's getting her information from her father and what she's learned from him, then I can see why she'd be so defensive. Again, I do think she needs to slow it down when it comes to heated topics, because at this time she just can't handle them. Paula is able to articulate why people do what they do, without it coming off as preachy. Jed was able to say party lines with a smile on her face and still get along with everyone. Ana knows her stuff, but she also speaks freely about issues. Those three have conservative views, but they'll still disagree with the Republicans when they do stupid stuff. I feel like Joy, Sara, and Whoopi would do the same for the Democrats (and I'm sure they have, I just can't remember them at the moment). Meghan needs to learn to do this soon, because she won't last if she continues like this. Even though I disagree with her, I'd rather she grows from this and becomes better. Because the revolving doors of Republicans is kind of odd to watch.
-
But it seems like MM views Joy as hostile, which is why she gets so defensive. She thought she'd be on the show as a republican, but didn't realize that she'd be challenged. And while a parent's illness may not change someone's views, it is probably making her even more emotional when it comes to politics. An attack on Republicans is an attack on her dying father or at least that's how it's coming across.
