I'm thinking Noah might use an old ink toner cartridge to make a pasteurization machine so they can have acceptable milk and cheese, not to mention butter....

I agree. The question becomes whether a person decides to consider their designs pure art or wearable fashion. While it can sometimes be both, that's not always the case. If your challenge as an artist or designer is to design clothes, then--basically by definition--they should be wearable and, preferably, not by just a select few. I spent 30+ years as a theatrical designer, have the degree and everything. It's called show business for a reason--it's a business to make $, as is the fashion business. Yes, designing for a plus size (as I was for decades) has different problems to solve but a good designer should have the skills to meet the problems and solve them. If not, then they clearly limit themselves both as designers and as potentially people worth hiring. Stores want to sell clothing, museums want to display textile arts--not necessarily mutually exclusive but not always the same, either.

True, you're right. I made a mistake in referencing your particular post; I was actually responding to the majority of posters who are seeming to condemn what are, at best, interrupted and possibly non-sequential and specifically chosen shots/scenes for inclusion. My point was that we don't really know who was called or not and what their real reactions were, just what was inferred or assumed as neither Brianna or Michael were shown or heard--just second hand comments from other cast members. -
The above is a short excerpt from Gunn's article. I applaud it in spades and second his opinion. A few years ago I was shopping in Lord and Taylors, plus (Women's) department. I was a size 22. I was looking for a couple of nice sweaters for winter. Nada. Okay, they had sweaters but I was looking for cashmere; I like cashmere; it's relatively lightweight and very warm. It's expensive but good quality will easily last a decade or more. Nada. Zilch. I asked the very nice salesclerk. Sorry, they weren't carrying it in Plus this season and hadn't had any last year either. Just then the store manager happened by and I asked him. He was very nice and a bit defensive and apologetic, saying corporate simply wasn't shipping any in + sizes. Politely (L&T is pretty much always polite, a good thing) I responded that I liked his store but if they weren't going to carry what I wanted to buy I'd have to spend my $ elsewhere. Nodding agreement, he asked if I'd put that in writing so he could send it in with his monthly (or whatever) report. I did and have no idea if it had any effect. Not long after I was forced to lose weight to help my crap knees and now shop in the regular areas of the store--at least 6-8 X's the size of +. They lost sales from me that day. Just saying.

With respect, we don't know this. We saw the footage TPTB chose to include in the episode, obviously edited for dramatic effect. As much as I loathe my own brother--for many and good reasons-- I called him from the ER when dad, dying, was brought in and placed on life support. He was on business in LA, got to LAX as fast as possible and caught the next flight he could to the east coast. Okay, it was the next day after he stopped home in Minnesota... I'm willing to give Vicki's kids, who seem to be on reasonably decent terms with each other, the courtesy to believe Michael was, at some point, brought into the loop. And it's actually not always a bad thing to delay--if delay there was--to wait until facts and her condition were known rather than induce a premature panic. Sure, that can be a mistake but it's a judgement call and Vicki does tend to the hypochondriac. -
ah, a rent-a-cow. Good luck, Sabrina.

That was my initial reaction and, while I always enjoy the snark here, the thought of the Browntownies continuing to scam anyone within a 5,000 mile radius, the on going ruination of that pristine area and the fact that the Browns are getting some decent $ for this steaming pile all make me just....sigh....

Plus, more to the point, she seriously and repeatedly questioned Brooks cancer--and was right. It would have likely come out eventually but Megan was the one who mainly pushed the issue and the lies, refusing to back down. By doing so she may well have jeopardized Vicki's place on the show and, more importantly, the income generated by it. -

Redemption for lying, repeating lies, shrieking while repeating lies. Denying lies. Denying she ever knew anything about the lies she endlessly repeated. Demanding apologies for her lies not being believed. Insisting she's the victim of the lies because she was blinded by love. Insisting she's owed apologies for what she had to endure while she was lying. Never accepting any kind of responsibility for her endless lies and demands for sympathy. Assuming that the lies are now water under the bridge and she doesn't even talk to the cancer faker anyway...except she calls him when stressed...or when it's, I dunno, Tuesday. Insisting that the remaining HW's are simply jealous bitches and she's being crucified like Jesus. Redemption? Um...no. -

Just curious; what grounds would she have to sue for? Okay, she got dumped from an ATV which she had willingly entered, was provided with some protection (helmet, seat belts, I assume some basic instruction). She's under contract to participate in group activities. She was immediately given medical aid, transported to the nearest suitable facility and treated. She also could have opted out of participating, as did Shannon and Megan. I'm not being argumentative; I'm wondering. Okay, obviously TPTB don't want the expense and bother of a lawsuit but I'd think they still hold the trump cards here. Okay, just saw this but still--I know we live in a litigious society but I don't see any real cause. And I'm not a lawyer so there you go. -

Having spent more than my fair share of time in the local ER between my accident prone then adolescent and later teenage son and my elderly father (heart disease, reduced kidney function, dementia) you simply assume a bare minimum of 4 hours and add on from there if it's something really serious, if there's a line waiting for treatment or it's just a busy night. 9 hours isn't that big a deal, especially if the facility is busy. It's not a fun way to spend a day but it sounds like a basic check up (x-rays. MRI, etc), treat and release to me. If the drs suspected a possible serious problem they would, at the very least, admit her overnight for observation. And kudos to Megan for declining to scurry to the hospital to hold the hand of Ms Vicki--a woman who was incredibly nasty to her, lied repeatedly over multiple months then switched gears to deny knowledge of anything (didn't know nuthin' about birthin' babies, to paraphrase Prissy), finally trying to paint herself as a victim. I wouldn't have gone either. Sorry, but no casseroles from me. -
Bethenny Frankel: Skinny Girl

Living in an area with total crap radio reception I'm clueless--has her radio show begun? Is it just more of the same Bethenny monologue or has she, in any way, evolved? -
S08.E21: Reunion Part 1
Beden replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
For what little it's worth, I was in a liquor store yesterday getting a few things for a Labor Day picnic I'm having later. Happening to like margaritas I was in that aisle. The Jose was on the eye-level shelf above the Skinny Girl (which was on the bottom shelf, basically the floor). Jose is in my fridge. SG remains on the floor. I'm one of those people who will, on occasion, vote with my wallet and it'll be a cold day in hell before I support Ms Beth. Yes, I know the company is owned by another company now. I don't care; it's the principle. -

And an identity, class, cache and a step up over the unwashed. I've always thought that her insistence on making a deal over what is--frankly--not much was just a signpost to hang her insecurity on. I'm no expert but my understanding is that he was diagnosed after they were married. -
S08.E21: Reunion Part 1
Beden replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
A number of years ago I was listening to an interview of Gloria Steinem. She mentioned that she had recently attended her college reunion at Smith. The interviewer asked how she was received and she said everyone had been nice and welcoming and added that the most common comment she received (after having written a number of books, founding Ms magazine and been a leader of the feminist/gender equality movement--and no,l I'm not looking for a debate about that subject) was 'but you're so thin--how do you do it?'. Some things don't change, it seems. -

So has her new radio show begun yet? I happen to live in a semi-mountainous area so radio reception totally sucks, even if (in some state of coma or idiocy opted to listen...I'm a books on CD while driving lady). And if so, any updates on how it's doing? -

But, as far as I know, Andy and Co aren't making any money off of Trump while the HW franchises seem to be doing reasonably well for Bravo. -

I mean, OK. But no less so than... BetheME, Methenny,, etc...and an endless slew of unflattering terms heaped upon Carole, Ramona, etc. Not to mention the less-than-flattering nicknames for housewives of other franchises like Tamballs, Gramballs. That wasn't actually meant as a particular dig at Bethenny (much as I dislike the nasty, self-involved bitch). It was a general comment on--as you mentioned--the childish and clearly meant to be insulting nicknames tagged onto the various cast members, most of which are thrown around by the opposing cast members. I personally thought that 'Jesusjugs' was especially nasty as not just a personal insult but also a dig at someone's religion as well from someone who claims to have found Jesus not long after. Okay, I get it. These are just bad actresses playing parts for a stupid amount of money but, c'mon. If I wanted to wallow in grade school level interaction I'd go down to my local school and eavesdrop on recess. Maybe it's just me--YMMV--but I'm tired of this and have basically stopped watching all the versions. 'Still love the online snark, though... -

Yes, but according to Vicki, her boobs always want to come out and play. Of course they do but sometimes you just have to be the parent and say 'no'! -

I'm not sure if he was single but he's definitely dead. Hence the reason why his estate is for sale (or at least one of them). Maybe this has been addressed elsewhere on this site but am I the only one who's tired of Vicki wearing clothes which leave her latest bolt on tits half falling out or peeking through keyhole cutouts? I'm hardly one to insist that's not 'age-appropriate' or some crap like that but--seriously--it's not attractive, you're not the hot trick you think you, you never were are and it simply comes across as desperate. Big time. -

Especially when you realize that they're all on the same payroll and may be contractually expected to be there. And as for the 'everyone gets tossed in the pool with their clothes on' BS...sure, fine, whatever. If you're drunk. If you're in high school. If you're desperate for camera time. Though it does seem that at least a few of the HW's are willing to suck up Vicki's horrible self to keep their own screen time and checks rolling in; they don't have to actually like it but seem willing to take the cash. We all make our choices and you don't always love or even like you coworkers. -
Right?? I was watching with this WTF look on my face. After about 10 minutes she gave up and said she'll buy coffee downstairs. Uh?? Okay, I know this is embarrassing but, truth be told, I've never worked one of those things, either. I'm not a coffee drinker (hate the stuff) nor is anyone in my household. I just use an electric kettle to boil up some water pour it in a mug and toss a tea bag in. OTOH, not being a total moron, I do believe I could scope it out just fine, should the need arise.
-
That totally sucked. I don't want to watch producer driven/ego driven adult conflict. Yet another 'reality' show ruined by idiot producers who think they know what their audience wants; and are wrong. Bring the kids and insane parents back. Until then, I'm gone. (And yes, typing that sends me to embarrassment hell.)

This is simply so incredibly sad and such a waste; a waste of a potential life (Josh's), public money, court time, TV time and on and on. Is Laurie responsible for his downward spiral? MHO? Yes and no. She's a shitty parent, more involved in her search for $ than her kids, she's repeatedly refused to take responsibility for her kids, blaming them for disappointing her despite her seemingly having other priorities. I'm willing to assume that she does love her kids--only a seriously disturbed person doesn't have some real affection and protective feelings for their kids. But she also made some astoundingly bad choices; deciding to call Josh from a beach in Hawaii while he was in a juvie cell, bringing home to him what he was missing because he was a screw-up. Her decision to put his addiction intervention on camera as she prepped her wedding as a sop for sympathy for herself. Her public comment that the then adolescent daughter (I forget her name) was the only one of her kids who hadn't disappointed her and so on. The cards were stacked against him. But he's an adult and now making his own choices...bad ones, evidently. And yes, he's likely going away for a long time for this latest incident.
