  1. I've never bought into the idea that there's no such thing as bad publicity. Yes, there is. I also choose not to purchase products from companies I have ethical or moral problems with, as is my right. This is a big reason why negative campaigning in every election since the beginning of time works and why we're being subjected to it in yet another election cycle (and no, I'm not singling out any candidates or party).
  2. Yes, I suspect that you might be right about this (question; do younger people/women make up a large demographic for HW shows??? I thought, perhaps wrongly, the opposite). But if true, what does this say about role model, choices and all of that? Not trying to sound stupid philosophical, but this seems to me another example of a climate of unpleasantness, unprofessional and flat out nasty behavior which I choose not to reward by giving such people/companies my money. I never have and never will put a dime in Bethenny's pocket by supporting any of her crappy products, whether she owns the company now or not. And some people won't buy an ugly, poorly designed and constructed frock made from what looks to be shit fabric. JMO.
  3. Because Vicky is a pariah this season. Yet Kelly seems to think she is still OC top dog...she's really dumb. And, more to the point, Vicki thinks she's still top girl; the OG of the OC...which, when you come down to it or give it a nanosecond of thought, is something I wouldn't want carved on my gravestone. Well, dang, she can't film every one of her scenes with Brianna and the grandbabies, can she? Any port in a storm...
  4. How strange she would think that way. But I bet she does. With respect, I sort of disagree with this. Just the opposite; I don't think B believes she's all that; I suspect she thinks she's a big ole nothing, that one of these days (despite her mega bucks and presumed 'fame') it's all going to go away. I think she's scared shitless and presents her horrible, alienating personality as a defense to keep people away. You know--the old (and boring) you can't hurt me, you bitches, so don't even try...the expression on her face, her body language, her attack dog personality in every situation all say the same thing. She'll maintain that she has lots and lots of friends while spending her time largely alone, working or trying to drum up a new reality show for the $ and, more importantly, the exposure. She seems to have the attitude that if she isn't on TV she doesn't exist in any meaningful way. Even in pictures of her with her daughter she seems pissed--okay it may be because she's being photographed but, c'mon--if you're a known personality and you don't want you or you kid photographed, don't go to a place crawling with paps. Lots of people have figured this out to protect their kids (and good for them). It works, I guess. No one seems to want to go within 20 feet of her unless they're on her payroll. She blames everyone else because they're jealous, afraid of her, losers or whatever rationalization she comes up at the moment. We all make our choices. And no, you couldn't pay e to have dinner with the bitch.
  5. Just dial twisted past an old (2009) Dr Phil and stopped when I saw Vicki, Jeana and Lynn sitting there discussing how they'd had to downsize after the housing crash on 2008. Jeana and Lynn were talking about selling excess cars, downsizing and all that, Vicki smugly announced that since she's a Financial Advisor (or was it Financial Planner? It was pre caffeine, sorry) and so she and her family are just fine and dandy, thank you. Her son drives an old car, her daughter is paying the monthly charges for her new Mercedes and how she keeps track of every dollar going in and out, bless her heart. Financial Planner? You're an Insurance shill, you lying, cheating two-faced bitch. Who was schupping Brooks about this time.
  6. Just dial twisted past an old (2009)
  7. A random thought; when their previous boat sank while tied to the dock, causing them to all be really, really sad and bemoan how they'd just lost everything (again)--did anyone notice any booms surrounding the boat? I didn't. When a power boat sinks, be it a relatively small vessel like theirs or a big oil tanker like the Exxon Valdez (sp?) I thought it was standard procedure to place floating booms around it to prevent or minimize escaping oil/gas from polluting the area. There's always oil or fuel in/on the engine and various moving parts or left in the tanks. Even the sunk battleship Arizona in Pearl Harbor is still oozing oil 70+ years on. But why should the Browns or TPTB worry their little heads about trivial oops. I'm sure they pay Hoonah and similar places to be able to film...
  8. new season ?????
  9. Thanks to the posters who responded. I may well be wrong in thinking that there are actual placement services for former or just leaving service military people. And to Snarky--yes, I strongly suspect this young man is one of those whose expectations exceed his realistic abilities. I add that he chose to resign his position the moment he could resign without penalties, he's a newlywed with a pregnant wife with no job prospects on the horizon (he hadn't even started looking at that point--seriously, who quits a reasonably well paying job with benefits without even a clue as to what he wants to do after, let along have a job lined up?--with a pregnant wife who also has no job), has virtually no savings and they're now bunked into his parents guest room for the foreseeable future. And yes, I suspect he's waiting for that CEO position to open up for him--in town and in walking distance. He and his family blame the military (for his choices) and are so excited by the coming baby that's all they think about. I genuinely hope he has some kind of health insurance. I don't mean to belabor this but I have a problem with entitled people. And I speak as a (former) army brat. My dad got perks but he was a career officer who'd pulled himself up from private to bird colonel--a rare accomplishment and to dads serious credit, endured over 5 years of deployments on the ground in a war theater, was decorated and seriously had his shit together--dad is now in Arlington--a position he earned in spades. Okay--apologies for the OT rant. I'll stop now and thank you.
  10. Just curious; I'm under the impression that when military people leave service (assuming good conduct and all of that, just having put in their time and decide to move on) that there are job hunting/placement services available for them. I ask because a young man I know recently left the navy after a 7 year hitch and claims that (and I quote him here) "No on will hire a veteran!" I call Bullshit on that and he's kinda a loser kind of guy --I'm not being mean, just honest, I swear. There is placement help out there, right? I also suspect that you may well get your foot in the door--and rightly be given a fair chance as a vet, maybe even be given a few extra brownie points, you get the job itself on your own merits, which I find pretty reasonable. He complains that all he's being offered are entry level jobs. I believe he had some kind of military desk job, I know he was never in combat (that's not a dis). Anyone know?
  11. Apologies if this has been mentioned but I have a keyless entry for my car and, well, it being a car I also have a spare key(less) fob as a back up which I keep in a drawer in case it's needed for anything. Spare key--just a thought. You can use them to open a door...
  12. Perhaps but, as with Lynn Curtain blaming their foreclosure/eviction on her husband 'lying', she--as an adult--has an obligation to educate herself regarding important issues, be they finances or illness and not casting herself as a victim simply because she was a trusting, desperately needy or naive or stupid head in the sand denier. You're supposed to be an intelligent grownup--own that and leave the endless excuses elsewhere. And this, too--in spades. Seriously--own it, bitch.
  13. Okay, so TPTB were simply trying to extend the season by using the previously rejected footage, a legit thing to do rather than just toss it or shove it in a storage closet. What I find semi interesting is that they went for shots which showed us (mostly) those happy Bushfolk being happy, living their bushlives or doing their bush projects or laughing at the somewhat put upon crew coping as best they can because they're not really bush. They also seemed to be showing us how they're legit because they have all these old bush friends going back to way back when. Fine. Whatever. None of this changes the fact that they're lying, stealing, thieving grifters, with a rep for non-payment and abandoning huge dump heaps/destroyed boats or abandoned homes when they move on to their next bush home. They got lucky with a semi-lenient judge who allowed them to not actually be locked in a jail cell (and thereby saving the state $). And the question remains; will they keep this increasingly dubious mess going for another season?
  14. Not that it matters (and I know I'm nit picking) but "I'm in Love With A Wonderful Guy" is From South Pacific, Rogers and Hammerstein, sung by Nellie Forbush and her fellow nurses on a beach on a Pacific island during WW2. Just saying. Sorry; I spent 30+ years making my living in musical theater.
  15. I agree with you here but also suspect that her being upset (and possibly also a little drunk) is because she's seeing Tom and Lu moving on, getting together and settling down--or settling, anyway. While Sonja is still in a falling apart townhouse, hurting financially, her daughter is growing up and away most of the time and living with a couple of dogs and makes at least a goodly part of her income from a cheesy reality show where she's the pity cast member while her former social circle (I'm guessing--aka the Churchill's et al) have likely struck her from their Christmas card lists. Maybe?
  16. Are those not flattering and cheap looking frocks from her fashion line? She may just be trying for product placement--which doesn't change the fact that they're not flattering and cheap looking (and ill-fitting).
  17. Yes to this. FWIW, my dad was a retired army colonel, WW2 vet, decorated and all of that. In his decline he had medicare backed up by Tricare (the military ins). Between the two his medical bills--which were substantial--were close to nil. The nursing home, not so much as it wasn't covered but military insurance is fabulous, easy to deal with, knowledgeable people and all around really good. And he earned every damn penny, as do the others accessing it. Just saying.
  18. Drinking buddy. Woo-hoo!
  19. This is Bethenny...there'd be no point. If it's not on film, it doesn't exist.
  20. Well, yes. I thought he was going for Mike Brady when the actor had a perm the last couple of years. Not a good look.
  21. But Vicki is a lying liar who lies. Wasn't she screwing Donn while still in her first marriage then boffing Brooks while married to Donn? And do I vaguely recall her screwing some random guy while on vaca a couple of years ago? I was seriously amused--not by her drunk dialing Brooks--but by the fact that he was probably screening his calls and let her go to voicemail. And yes, streaking was a real thing back in the 70's. Stupid, but funny. And just BTW; I grew up in a family of alcoholics and don't find it funny or entertaining (I was 12, home alone with her the night mom fell through a closed window--glass everywhere-- was particularly unpleasant). Okay, that's just me and YMMV but loud, nasty, belligerent drunks aren't a laugh or hoot. They're just loud, nasty and belligerent.
  22. As memory serves (which it doesn't always), Matt wasn't included in the charges, nor were either of the girls. They may have both been minors at the time. Him being out of state would certainly be a viable reason for him to not be charged. I'm amused/horrified by the corporate spin regarding how they were all innocent--INNOCENT, DO YOU HEAR ME??!!-- and it's just the system which no one can possibly buck, especially when you're just simple bush folks trying to live your bush lives. And they were locked up in cages and Billy could have DIED when all they want is to be free. I'm also bemused by the % who still buy this bullcrap. But then there's also the old saying about how 10% never get the memo.
  23. I'm actually not sure what to think at this point. At first I was sort of an innocent, I guess..the first season I thought (if I thought at all) that they may have been semi-legit. Stupid but semi-legit. Then that obviously became total scripted BS. Then I started wondering about the cult idea--which I haven't completely dropped. Then I fully embraced the grifter/lying/cheating/scamming/thieves angle; which I still adhere to. Add to that the whole anything for money thing--which I'll sign on to. And let's not forget the entire anything for a paycheck angle which seems to have some major mojo, all scripted, they couldn't build a weather proof cabin or survive in the actual bush if guns were figuratively put to their heads. Instead of being a tightly knit wolfpack (evidently a lie scripted by TPTB) they're a seriously dysfunctional family with alcohol/drug problems, estrangements, major legal issues and possibly a few grandbabies in the background. Lies upon lies upon lies.
  24. Wasn't he the Marine that called out the range of targets or something like that when he was deployed in Afghanistan? He had something to do along those lines if I remember correctly. It could be something as simple as giving him a relatively light assignment due to his medical issues. That's not unheard of. Let those without sin cast the first stone. That's my guess, anyway.
  25. don't know, but they showed that scene three times during the show. Oh bless the good lord--if you had access to that footage, wouldn't you? And--dear lord above--are you suggesting that you'd allow a couple of your (over 30 years old) children stay alone. In the woods? With bears? With lord knows what could happen? And they could die???? Cloddy...I fear for your children.... Speaking of children; has anyone herd any updates regarding Matt's rehab aside from him deciding to extend his treatment? I have actual sympathy for the man fighting whatever his personal demons may be. The others, not so much.
