  1. I must be missing something because John/Cheryl were mentioned last episode and again tonight, in addition to Glorietta, but I never saw those scenes. I felt really bad for Sarah except for one bitchy moment I had when she was asking, "I don't know what's right or wrong anymore!" and I responded: "To start with, your eye makeup is wrong." Why the heck did they not have Michael and a new Maria panel swinging into place when he was going back to the hotel, instead of the Michael and Sarah ones again? Impatiently waiting for the Maria panel so I can really laugh my ass off at the rotation every week.
  2. Mr. Kitty's been gone for about 12 years, and then about five years after that I lost 19-year-old Milo. I currently have two and my tortie Willow is getting up there in years, but hopefully she'll be around for a while. The other cat is my avatar, though he's just named Scout, and the only connection to him and my user name is my obviously favorite book.
  3. The week my 17-year-old Mr. Kitty suddenly got sick--it turned out to be anemia and he died--he could barely eat. He was so hungry but after a couple of ravenous bites he was too weak to do anything more. I bought everything I could think of to get him to eat, even breaking my no stinky fish for cats thing and gave him canned tuna and sardines. On-topic and to distract from thinking about dearly-departed kitties 😥: I honestly can only think of one commercial with a kid that I didn't mind, and actually liked enough to always stop fast-forwarding through ads for. It was the Subaru Legacy one where the dad jokingly asks the kid if he wants to drive. The kid imagines things like being stuck in traffic or getting a parking ticket, and declines. He never comes across as precocious or cutesy to me and his reactions in the scenarios are great. "I was only gone five minutes!" "I'm FIVE!"
  4. I know it's specifically romaine because once I had a mixture of that and iceberg and he carefully picked out just the romaine!
  5. I started watching TFGH back in the late '70s but a few years back--about the time that Steve Burton returned--I realized my blood pressure could no longer handle the rage induced by Saint Sonny always.getting.away.with.everything, in addition to sanctimonious Carly. I keep rowing the dinghy back here a couple of times a year HOPING it's safe to go back to the dry land of Port Charles but apparently, my stay on the barge is a permanent one.
  6. She's never given me fish-flavored cat food or treats so who's to say if I'd like them. 😞 But I'm not a normal cat anyway because I love romaine lettuce, raw spinach AND raw Brussels Sprouts!
  7. Since I despise fish and seafood I would want something else, too! However, I would never expect anyone else to also change their meal. I feel bad when someone apologies for ordering it at a restaurant because they know the smell makes me nauseous.
  8. Since I haven't gone to a movie theater in ages, normally I'm doing good if I've only seen one of the Best Picture nominees. However, with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, I managed to see all but two. I saw Parasite last--just a few days before the Oscars--but Jojo Rabbit is my favorite.
  9. The Saturday Night Live parody has the bachelor saying, "I love that," in response to everything the women say. Even though I've watched every damn season of the Bachelor/ette/Pad/Paradise franchise, that was the only thing that I thought they got wrong in the skit. I was mistaken. I really started noticing it this week!
  10. Only free citizens of a functioning democracy have the luxury of not thinking about politics all the time. The luxury of ignoring it is a privilege that people in a lot of countries would kill to have. Those being deported, young black men getting shot by police, a transgender person who risks getting beaten up just for holding their partner's hand...they don't have that luxury.
  11. If I recall correctly, there was a brief interview with Brittany and Marcellino saying that they hadn't planned on another baby. She was on birth control--I think she said it was the implant kind--and it failed,
  12. Just started seeing ads for Skyrizi which treats plaque psoriasis (moderate to severe, of course!). I think it sounds like the name of a DJ. "Dude, Skrillex AND Skyrizi are going to be at the rave party in Miami!"
  13. I think it's a woman thing. My African-American co-worker used to play with my blonde hair sometimes, like putting it in a ponytail. I've heard that black women have to deal with annoying people who want to know what their hair feels like, so I couldn't resist joking, "You just want to know what a white girl's hair feels like!" She shot back with, "My husband's white!" (When she was moving away, I cracked her up with, "Who's going to be 'my black friend' now??")
  14. The looks on the faces of the overly-confident Tammy and Kelly when he cut them gave me joy. Granted, not everyone is into makeup like I am but Kelly was so plain and I think she really could have used a little bit of color on her face. Apparently, Peter's mom doesn't realize the telenovela thing already happened and it's too late to audition with her overwrought "Bring her home!"
  15. I couldn't finish watching Roma because I got grossed out by all the scenes of dog feces, especially the up close ones with the tire rolling over it. I could almost smell it! What the hell??! I could excuse one scene but there were multiple ones. I think I made it about halfway through the movie but never found it interesting.
  16. I still can recall my David Bowie-obsessed best friend getting POed about Avril Lavigne pronouncing it like "bough-ie" at some awards show.
  17. I'm in the minority because I could not understand the hype. I had really been looking forward to seeing it because of how good everyone was saying it was and watched it right after it was for rent on Amazon Prime Video. While I never had any idea what would happen next and normally enjoy the ride when that happens, in this one I didn't care for the big plot twists and thought the The "unlike any of the others" could also be said about Jojo Rabbit, which I think is my favorite out of the six Best Picture nominees that I saw.
  18. Just thought I'd share what I was wearing for about 15 minutes up until a couple of minutes ago: For the second time today, draped over my shoulder was a very soft, orange, long-haired, 22-lb. cat who begs to be picked up and held.
  19. Outing my name but...I was one of the all-volunteer staff on the fan-run @U2 site for nearly 20 years and at one point our cartoonist did one about my experience. Heh, the having to go to work at Wendy's the next day was totally true and so sad! https://www.atu2.com/achtoon/308.html
  20. That is usually me but somehow this year I managed to see all of them except 1917 and Ford v. Ferrari (the latter I have absolutely no interest in) through online viewing. Least favorite has been The Irishman. I might feel differently if I had gotten to see 1917, but currently my favorite is Jojo Rabbit. And not just because of the great use of Bowie's "Heroes"!
  21. When do the red carpet arrivals begin? I'm just about to leave to run a couple of errands and don't want to miss too much. I know not much happens until the last hour or so when the bigger stars start arriving but it would be nice to catch as much as possible.
  22. Not sure but I think it must have been in 1993 because both President Clinton and VP Al Gore were here for a conference. Outside the hotel they would be staying at, there were massive crowds on both sides of the street. I eventually managed to work my way up to the front of one of them and was next to the barrier. I am still struck by how palpable the power and grandeur was as the Secret Service vehicles and then the presidential limos started arriving. Before going in the hotel, Clinton and Gore shook hands with several people in the crowd, myself included. I recall actually feeling week in the knees when it happened. The atmosphere was so electrified and exciting! My babbling self immediately went to visit my mother. Normally, she was not phased or impressed by celebrities, but she was a political activist and this time she just had to touch THE hand. The only other time she was thrilled by an interaction with someone of some renown was when I had Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center (RIP the hero worship I used to have) call her on my cellphone after an event. I met several alternative bands in the late '80s/early '90s when I interviewed them as the arts editor of my college newspaper and then for a local music paper. Best moment, though, was back when I was 19 (1983) and went to my first U2 concert. I got pulled up to dance with Bono and also had gotten a backstage pass earlier in the day (through a non-sleazy circumstance!) so I got all four autographs as they were coming down the stairs from the dressing room on their way out. The event took up 11 pages in my diary! My favorite band these days is (the unfortunately-monikered) The Brian Jonestown Massacre. I've DMed with a couple of band members on Facebook, and Rob, the keyboardist, made a point of walking over to specifically give me a set-list (girl next to me who had been dragged there by her date and yawned several times tried to grab it but Rob was not having it) after the Seattle show because I was one of the few up front who was obviously having a fabulous time among the majority who were acting too-cool to have a good time. The crowd at the Portland show the night before had been the complete opposite. However, I'm not sure if these count as official encounters.
  23. I saw it in the theater when it came out because it's one of my favorite Oz books. It was a small audience, which is why I still remember the young man in a military uniform who was there by himself (as was I). He seemed so incongruous but perhaps he loved the books as much as I did when he was growing up!
