Do you realize how much trouble Will could have saved himself if he just read "TV Tropes"? http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HannibalLecture http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ShutUpHannibal

S03.E12: The Number Of The Beast Is 666
Crossbow replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Hannibal [V]
I totally read Hannibal/Will slash, so I hope they DON'T do that on the show because for me slash is no fun if it's canon. In fact with fan fic in general, for me the fun is "what if this instead of this?" That said, the way I see it is that Hannibal is after Will's soul, and if he thought sexual seduction would get him what he wants, he would totally use it. But Will's straight so Hannibal has to use every other kind of seduction. I don't think Hannibal can distinguish "in love with" from "wants possession of." He does, however, have a very solid grasp of "If I can't have you, no one can." -

Got bored and looked up the "real" Hannibal Lecter. He only killed one person, served 20 years, and died peacefully at 81. He caught Tom Harris's attention because he was being allowed to practice medicine while still in prison. http://knowledgenuts.com/2014/04/20/the-terrifying-hannibal-lecter-was-based-on-a-real-criminal/ http://www.vice.com/read/i-found-the-real-hannibal-lecter-for-thomas-harris http://www.latintimes.com/who-was-real-hannibal-lecter-see-photo-gay-mexican-doctor-alfredo-balli-trevino-who-was-inspiration

S03.E12: The Number Of The Beast Is 666

I guess they could pass an electric razor through the way they do the phone, but I don't know why Alana would allow that if she doesn't allow him a toilet. They must hose him down once a week, which is probably a major production but I think there are health laws that you have to. -
In the book, Freddy was SUPPOSED to be under protection by the time the newspaper hit the stands, but Francis managed to get a copy earlier than they thought possible. They knew Freddy/Chilton was at some risk but assumed Will would be the main target. However, with Chilton's character it seems like he would have insisted on protection the whole time, which Freddy wouldn't have.

S03.E12: The Number Of The Beast Is 666

For me the two best parts of this episode were: 1. Watching Hannibal still enjoy the FUCK out of his life - they think they took all his toys, but people are his favorite toys. 2. Will looking so pained at realizing he set Chilton up for that. I thought they did that way better than the book did. In the book I felt like everyone was, "Well, that didn't go as planned. What's next?" Alana bugs me more than anyone else on this show. It's like she and Bedelia are having a contest to see who can be the worse psychiatrist. I also have absolutely no idea why Will is seeing Bedelia at all. But I still enjoy Gillian Anderson's delivery. She always sounds like she's walking a tightrope. -
Clarice Starling could take out all three of 'em.

"Brides of Hannibal Smackdown" should be its own spinoff.

Talking with a Mouth Full (of People): Quotes from Characters
Crossbow replied to lulee's topic in Hannibal [V]
In the book, he asks her to ride with him, then pauses to consider what a normal human being would say, and comes up with "for my pleasure." Because that's what he thinks sounds normal. -
Agreed! That version of "Hamlet" was about this guy Claudius whose nephew is causing trouble for him. He also played Claudius in the 1980 version and he was good in that but not as good as in the 2009. Baker really defined the role because he played it so long. I'm actually old enough to remember except I don't because that show never aired where I lived while I was growing up. Let's be honest, throwing Hugh Dancy around isn't that great a physical challenge...

I'm not a great fan of Tennant. His "Hamlet" was really good, but generally I think he overacts. Chris Eccleston is my Doctor.

Yup. http://metro.co.uk/2014/09/25/hannibal-creator-bryan-fuller-says-hed-love-to-cast-david-tennant-on-the-show-4880186/

Well, the thing about Hannibal Rising is that everyone said it was godawful so I had really low expectations. It's sure not good but it's not as bad as I expected.
-
Yes, he has bright blue eyes. "Not handsome but determined-looking," as Dolarhyde puts it. Well, until they're done with him when he has "a face that's hard to look at." Oh, and I think we can assume he fishes if he works in a bait shop, but he definitely can't have fly-fishing as a hobby since there aren't rivers where he lives. We can't assume he sails because that is a completely different skill set from driving a motor boat. Hannibal would be impossible to cast as he's described, since maroon eyes don't really exist except in albinos, and they're not gonna find an actor with the left middle finger duplicated. They also disregard his age - he's 41, but no one that young has ever played him. But there are many, many comments about him being graceful and holding himself like a dancer, so I think Mads was perfect. Tennant was up for the role of Hannibal Lecter. I'm glad it went to Mads! Tennant is over the top.

- She developed the ability to run soundlessly, but otherwise, yeah, that was good. - The vet was asking about diet changes. If you're feeding them home made and then suddenly switch to canned one day, it could be bad. I don't think she was judging Molly for not making homemade but for the abrupt change. - I don't know why Will hasn't decked either of them at any number of points yet. That boy needs to drop-kick Jack Crawford right out of his life for good.

He's converted other people into killers, and Will is really mutable, but he pushes too hard with Will. He just gets too eager and... Okay I'm not sure I can finish that thought without sexual imagery. -
In the book he feels numb. I guess that's a hard one to emote for the screen.

My 4 current cats don't acknowledge the television. Which is probalby smarter.
-
You can tell it's bad because the spoon is on the wrong side of the knife and the napkin is in the wrong place.
-
Nah, Hannibal goes to Italy in the third book, and Will is only in the first book. There's no magical transport in the books, since in a book you can just tell the reader how much time has passed. Actually there's no mention of Will fishing or sailing so far. I think that's all TV Will.

One of mine had a crush on Christopher Reeve.

Regarding previous discussion of why Dolarhyde went to Hong Kong for his tattoo and teeth: So I'm at that part of the book. In the army he was stationed in Seoul and went to Hong Kong on his leaves. It says, "Hong Kong and Kowloon could satisfy any appetite in 1959." Sounds to me like he probably started killing there. He's based in St. Louis, which didn't really have a Chinatown in 1979, since they razed the old one in 1966 and a new one didn't get a good foothold until 1986 - so he had to travel to have it done in any case. Presumably he chose Hong Kong because he was familiar with it. Oh, and yes it cost him a buttload of money (but not as much as you imagine since he actually only had the tail done, not the whole thing - but that wouldn't impress anyone in 2015) and he was in Hong Kong 3 months, so no, it wasn't done all at once. :D

RIght ow NBC has it showing as an hour. So does my local listing.

He said there was a certain mindset he had to recover. Apparently he thought he was a better profiler while under Hannibal's influence? IDK. I'm re-reading the book now, and I don't see how Hannibal helps him at all. Tells him a couple things Will already knew, then tries to have him killed. In the book you could argue that since Hannibal was the last guy he caught before retiring, he needs to get that mindset back, but on the show, Hannibal was literally driving him insane. On the show it looks like he just missed Hannibal and wanted to see him.
