The Official Re-Read of Book 1: A Game Of Thrones
Crossbow replied to David T. Cole's topic in A Song Of Ice And Fire
That would be so cool. Someone should write that. -
Not exactly on topic but Mads' brother is in "House of Cards." I was like, why does that guy remind me so much of my TV boyfriend? He's actually a lot better at accents than Mads is, but he's just not as riveting. Holy cheekbonse, though. I mean, are you kidding me???

I saw Charles Dance on stage as Coriolanus in 1990. He was AMAZING.

LOL at "Disheveled." Lack of self care really only explains the hair color. Somehow her actual face shape was changed by the disease and then went back to normal when she was cleaned up. The actress said she was wearing three pounds of prosthetics. As for tracking Will, I had assumed she'd stowed away in his car somehow. And he didn't smell her. Somehow.

Since our two main characters are psychologically impossible to begin with, I'm okay with them doing pretend illnesses. Hannibal suggested Cotard's, but they never really confirmed that she had it. They definitely never explained the skin thing. See also: The implicaton that narcissim and sociopathy are part of the Autism spectrum of disorders. WHAT. See also: Will supposedly being on the spectrum but also having too much empathy, when one of the defining characteristics of ASD is having trouble reading and understanding other people.

Good thought. I know Ned and Cat thought their situation was really secure so they didn't NEED to arrange marriages right this minute, although at least with Robb's age they should have been thinking about it. Fostering: I believe that in the real world it was kind of a mutual hostage situation (you betray me, I kill your kid), but I think there were times where a subjugated family would have to send a foster to a dominant family. We don't really know how common fostering is in Westeros, do we? I am not sure it was discussed.

https://www.yahoo.com/tv/hannibal-most-gif-able-foodporn-129283110990.html NBC’s Hannibal was nominated in two categories in our inaugural Yahooies, reader-voted awards honoring the best of the 2014-’15 season, and won both of them handily. With 53 percent of the vote, the finale cliff dive earned the title Most GIF-able Moment, and with 72 percent, its delectable table offerings took home Best #FoodPorn. And another one: http://www.readingeagle.com/life/article/hannibal-was-brilliant-for-tackling-mental-health-issues I think some people are going to disagree with that. I for one think it did a pretty terrible job of exploring real mental health issues. It did a great job of exploring fictional ones.

Someone refresh my memory - I haven't read the book for a while, but I don't recall any time spent on them falling in love. My impression in the book was just that it was a teenage crush that ended up having dire consequences. In any case, Robb absolutely should have known better, even if it was Twu Wuv. He lives in a world of arranged marriages, and he was raised to be a lord.

Yes, the re-imaginations definitely pushed his darkness to the surface. It's exactly what Hannibal was encouraging. I don't think he forgot about the drawings, I think he was just overconfident that no one would make the connection. I'm not sure. In the book, Will doesn't actually see the drawing, he just sees that Hannibal has old medical texts, and he knows that illustration would be in them. Showing us the actual drawing was maybe for the audience's benefit, since we couldn't see what's going on in her head so just seeing the books wouldn't work.

"The Hunt" was completely amazing. And really hard to watch.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but the job he did on Gideon did kill the nurse and the guards and almost got Alana killed. -
Television Vs. Book: Why'd They Make [Spoiler] Such A [Spoiler]?
Crossbow replied to yellowfred's topic in Game Of Thrones
Well, what can you do - I looked up the location where they're filming King's Landind and the average low in January is 10 °C / 50 °F. It ain't gonna snow. Maybe they'll try fake snow or special effects. -
I just watched an episode of X Files (Humbug, the carnival one) for the first time since it went off the air. Gillian looks like a kid! I remember at the time thinking, she's my age, why does she look so much more grown-up than I do?

You know, I only saw Charlie Countryman last year but for some reason I don't remember much except for Mads. I don't remember thinking it was terrible, but it didn't stick with me. I remember reading a review that said it was mostly about "Shia LaBeouf grtting the sh*t kicked out of him," and I said, "But who among us hasn't wanted to kick the sh*t out of Shia LaBeouf?" So I rented it anyway. Mads walked away with the whole thing, as usual.

I'd love to see Alana start acting like a freaking psychiatrist for once.

Jack never balks at using anyone as bait, but so far he's always done it with informed consent. I don't think he'd set up Chilton without telling him. But I still think it was out of character for Chilton not to insist on his own SWAT team just in case. He always thinks he's so important. -
I completely agree, although my reasoning is shorter: He's the very last person Cersei would ever expect.

True, he doesn't do much in Red Dragon. In SotL he's a total asswipe. -
I have ideas about that too, but I'm not sure who the generally accepted candidate is. OK, thanks!

And now back to the subject of Hannibal in the Media: 1) http://www.christiantoday.com/article/hannibal.s4.renewal.ep.bryan.fuller.awaits.how.the.fates.decide/64198.htm Nevertheless, the executive producerr continues to mention a film retelling rather than a new season if Hannibal was to come back. In the DIgital Spy interview, he said that he has to learn first whether or not producer Martha De Laurentiis is successful in bringing in a budget for the silver screen jump of "Hannibal." "I'm waiting for instructions from above," he said. Before NBC cancelled the series, Fuller had concrete plans for "Hannibal" season 4. He said that he had "a whole vegan agenda," at least for Alana and the female characters. He revealed that he wanted to see them "accomplishing great things, and undoing all of the horrors of the Verger family and name." 2) http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/s225/hannibal/interviews/a667077/hannibal-bryan-fuller-talks-season-4-sexual-fluidity-and-how-will-became-clarice-starling.html#~pnO7iVccMYrpXr - You've mentioned some footage where Mads and Hugh went a little further with their final embrace than what we saw in the episode - "lips lingering over lips"? - Yeah, it was funny because I saw them just after they filmed it, and they both came running up to me kind of excited about what they had done. And Mads in particular was really enthusiastic about the level of intimacy that was conveyed on screen! 3) And a kiss from Mads! http://youtu.be/jfKDCfzISeA

Ah, I'm glad I'm not the only person on the planet who liked the Mel Gibson Hamlet. Glenn Close knocked it out of the park.

I suspect they were relying on us hating Chilton because of the movies, without having made him very hatable on the show.
