Sorry "for offending [you]," -- I hate that non-apology apology crap, no matter who it's from. You went on TV and told people you don't know to fuck off because you didn't like their haircuts. So much for the "broad coalition of decency" you spoke of in January, Sam. Life comes at you fast, don't it?

@Silver Raven might have posted the one I'm talking about, but of course, my wifi won't load it!!

Loving the Haribo gummy bears ad! Not sure if it's the same one @Milburn Stone brought up (boardroom meeting with little kids dubbed over the adults). I don't even know how long it's been playing (I don't get out much), but it's so cute I could pinch it. I took German in high school, and still remember the Haribo jingle! ("Haribo macht kinder froh; und erwachtsen eben so!") Apologies to all the native speakers who are giggling uncontrollably at my spelling.

Then and Now: Actors (and their Voices) in Commercials
rallymantis replied to Lola16's topic in Commercials
I'm sure you're right. And there's just *enough* of a difference in cadence (duh, 2 different countries) that if I concentrate... ...eh, still confuses the crap outta me. -
Um. *raises hand* We drafted him in the first round, and it was a bitter parting of ways for the fan base. He still gets love around these parts, though.

So now it's started, and I must face reality. Here's a poem I wrote rewrote tweaked a bit in a drunken teary wistful longing rage: Dear Cubs & Mariners fans -- My tears are fallin' cause you've taken them away And through it really hurts me so There's something that I gotta say... Take good care of my baby(s) Please don't ever make 'em blue Just tell 'em that you love 'em Make sure you're thinking of 'em In everything you say and do Take good care of my baby(s) Now don't you ever make them cry Just let your love surround them; Paint a rainbow all around 'em Don't let them see a cloudy sky. Once upon a time those two guys were mine And if the salary cap weren't true I know they'd never be with you, so -- Take good care of my baby(s) Be just as kind as you can be And if the trade deadline proves they might still be mine Just send my Wade & Dice back home to me.

Fox News Network: They're Crazy Like a ...
rallymantis replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in Network Talk
Very sad news about Alan Colmes. Always a great smile & sense of humor, even in the minority. Best moment: April Fool's Day 2009. He showed up at the top of the hour on a renamed "Hannity" ("Colmes"), offering up the Anti-American Panel of "Bill Ayers, Sean Penn, and anybody French!" RIP. -

So: is the Geico gekko moonlighting (w/accent tweak) as Humpty Dumpty in the Turbo Tax ads? -
Looking forward to hearing Tapper -- a friendly acquaintance from my time in D.C., and someone I used to respect -- explain his network's hiring of Jen Psaki as a CNN contributor. She made several proven lies accidental misstatements to media faces (including his) over the Iran deal. Over to you, Jake.

It's been more than four hours. Time to consult my physician.

Waiting for Todd to point out that the German Westminster champion also didn't denounce Trump for not denouncing anti-semitism. -

Mainstream outlets: "We're not having Kellyanne Conway on to answer questions anymore." Same outlets: "Trump isn't calling on us." -

Wow, Kate. Your embarrassing Leonard Cohen salute to Hillary was bad enough. Now this? It's what happens when partisanship totally skews the perspective comedians have on the characters they’re mocking. -
The Sounds of Our Lives (formerly General Music Discussion)

I was running into every thread to find someone else talking about Al. One of the most distinctive voices, and, as noted above, singer of one of the best TV themes ever. Thoughts & prayers to his friends and family. Another part of my youth, gone. ? -

I knew it!! Around our house, "Autocorrect" is usually prefaced by an unflattering adjective...?

I know it's a typo but I'd love for this to happen. Starting with Joy.

All Episodes Discussion: 2017 Season
rallymantis replied to AmandaPanda's topic in The Rachel Maddow Show
"If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor." Hope Rachel shows the Politico poll tomorrow. Different numbers. Although she's smart enough to know that polls don't mean as much as they did before November. -

Maybe she could ask Senator Tim Scott. -

Fairly certain that whether it was Steve or Peter Doocey (I'm assuming the typo, unless you're referring to a new employee), he understood that he was in the middle of Momjeans country, and the reax was him trying to avoid puking. I saw the WaPo headline of this outing in the "news" section. It read like an Onion spoof of fanfic. -

Funny, but redundant. -
Wow, Ilana. When your hatred of our president starts leaking out to include his grandson -- maybe it's time to take a break from Twitter, and think about how politics needn't contaminate EVERYthing. Sometimes a cute baby is just a cute baby. Or not. Frankly, this kind of shit actually helps my side -- so, as you were.

It looked to me like he exercised his legal authority after a member of the Senate purposely violated rules.
