  1. Just like geting special titles from the Roman Catholic Church later. The rulers of Spain became "Most Catholic", France got "Most Christian", England got "Defender of the Faith" and eventially Austria got "Apostolic". Earlier, around the end of the Bronze Age, rulers of the major powers began to call themselves "Great King".
  2. Regina realizes that, since Emma's original capacity for evil was transferred to Lily, and Lily's own orphan life had given her similar resentments to Emma's, then Lily has incubated genuine "fallen Savior" style darkness as Emma's alternate. And conveniently, Lily's own redemption arc can start, since Regina has taken that darkeness.
  3. Ok, so the next season will be Alicia Florrick: People's Advocate. She'll be fighting for the rights of the poor, the down trodden, the marginalized, and the unlucky. She will be paid in hugs and casseroles and an ocassional brake adjustment. To make ends meet she'll compromise enough to do zoning variances. She'll wear dashikis and headbands and feather earrings.. She'll rely heavily on idealistic college student volunteers. Eli will finally have that stroke he's been promising himself.
  4. felt like a nyaa nyaa to the fans.
  5. Also, i really like the way they're doing Dorne. It makes me think of medieval southern Spain. I keep expecting to see strolling minstrels or robed clerics playing chess.
  6. Anyone can join the People's Crusade. But only the most proven of them can join the Templers or the Inquisition. That's a 7 part circle (hepticle?) being cut into his forhead, so i'm guessing he's joing the Inquisition. That makes sense, it's the best way to avoid being hauled before it. I also notice that the newly puritanized church doesn't seem to be interested in working with the current power structure, Loras is one of the few members with significant social rank.
  7. I'm guessing lung failure, albeit they didn't set it up by having her hoarse and gasping.
  8. To do a MASH tour.
  9. I really do miss Jacob's commentary from TWOP. He would have had a field day with the metaphor of the carousel, Meredith's time jumping through her life, and all the parallels with her mother. What with the time jumping, i'm surprised the show refrained from two cheap ploys. 1) Having Sofia and Child Meredith briefly see each other at the hospital. 2) In the Meredith Comes Home montage, have her see Ellis holding the new baby. I guess when you have 2 seats on the board, you can take an unannounced leave of absence whenever you like. Arizona was out of line yelling at the other doctor. She wasn't complaining that Derek's death was inconvenient to her, she was noting that Derek's death lowered the standard of care for some of her patients. Which was a valid point. And Amelia should have been the first one to say they needed more people in Neuro. You can't designate Idris Elba as your backup sex partner unless you let your husband have Beyonce. I never knew the burn ward could be such a hilarious place. Also, how come the patient's husband decided he couldn't with this *after* the worst was over? I'm glad that Meredith didn't insist on sleeping in Alex's bed. The real Chief is back! Over all, this was a lot better than i had expected; but still, it seems a good time to get off the carousel (see what i did there?) and call it a series.
  10. I actually felt a little teary when Kalinda began disengaging. I was really afraid that she would walk out and a couple of goons would show up and say something like, "Mr. Bishop is disappointed in you". And she would say "i know" and not even try to run as they shoot her. But no, she did her disappearing act, which is good for the character, but bad for the show. I'm honestly not sure what the show can do now. Ideally, Alicia should let the democratic machine that just ran her over give her some kind of soft job, like coordinator at a non profit. That would allow her to retrench, make some new contacts, and rebuild her resume. But it wouldn't be the same show. She wouldn't be the Good Wife anymore. Oh, and what happened to Robyn? What happened to all the Florrick Agos redshirts? Finally, could we maybe get Alice as a recurring character? Maybe Diane could hire her as a lay analyst and counselor for mentally dubious clients. Oh, also, when Cary was at Kalinda's i wondered if he would find an envelop with a thong and a note for him to remember her.
  11. And the listing of Wordstar commands.
  12. And then Meredith decides on her specialty. She'll be an oncological internist. The next season sees the usual cases interspersed with scenes of her studying freeze dried slices of Derek's tissues, and arguing passionately with a geneticist over the meaning of some anomaly. In wrestling it's called being "jobbed out". Maybe Shonda is really a character in an M Night movie. Eventually she will realize that she is not a tv show creator, she's actually a Reaper.
  13. Brilliant, as always. I really hope this show continues to get 2 official recaps each episode/
  14. This sounds like a remake of Reginald Perrin.
  15. I've said before that Rowena is the new Endora. This episode she really stepped up the eyeliner.
  16. I've said this before-- it's like reading a comprehensive non fictional history of England that starts early in the reign of Henry VII. You keep thinking the king is cool. Oh wait, he's an overgrown petulant child. You think each wife will finally stablize things. Nope. You admire various dukes, various royal officers, various clergy--- Chop! Eventually you realize even Henry isn't central to the story, it's Edward and the triumph of hard core protestantism. Nope. It's Jane Grey in a development that blindsides most readers. Nope, it's Mary and the return of the True Faith. And nope, the first 2000 pages were just to set the scene for Elizabeth.
  17. It's those rocket equipped ExpressRavens.
  18. I feel an obligation to watch the finale. But i don't think i'll be back next season. Just one comment: once again, a child comes into contact with a main character (which he was up to now) and soon starts speaking in Shonda Cadence. I wonder if we all will be doing that soon.
  19. Slippin' into darkness Take my mind beyond the dreams I was slippin' into darkness Take my mind beyond the dreams Where I talk to my brother, oh, oh, oh Who never said their name Slippin' into darkness When I heard my mother say I was slippin' into darkness When I heard my mother say (Hey, what'd she say, what'd she say) You been slippin' into darkness, oh, oh, oh Pretty soon you're gonna pay --- War
  20. Also remember that back then, what passed for medical science still listed "being female" as a medical condition. Her doctors would have been quick to accept any discomfort she reported as just part of the package and recommended more rest.
  21. The curse is long gone. The reason we can't get glitter, "Tee Hee Hee" and "Dearie" in Storybrooke is probably a writer oops.
  22. I thought the movie "Anne of a Thousand Days" showed her as being sexually attractive through her aggressive, outgoing personality.
  23. A different question. The real world has no magic. It is merely an island in a sea of Realms, where different versions of stories and penned by various Authors wash ashore. Hence, Cruella would not be restricted here. So why didn't she kill her husband after he made a big pile, but before he got exposed for whatever fraud he was doing?
  24. Perhaps it's A&E who have gone dark. They have become rogue Authors.
  25. Also: who's going to scalp Cruella to retrieve that pint of ink?
