  1. I'm unsure just how thoroughly the production team (Dr. Now's son,Jonathan's company) does background checks on the poundicipants?? I think the team corrals these eager "subjects" mostly based upon their weight and whatever background story they present (note they always have photos that I'm sure the team demands when they sign up). It would probably take a designated team member to dig up these collateral facts that are obviously available online about certain legal issues that are rather easy to uncover but still take time and a certain degree of skill. My belief is that the production team is specifically focused on a particular format for the show (that I'm sure we all know by heart) and any other issues either avoided or ignored.
  2. The husband appeared to have some level of cognitive disability.
  3. Another MASSIVE stress she must be facing is repaying the tens of thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands of $$$) of STUDENT LOANS she presumably amassed obtaining (what became to her) worthless degrees!! Bethany is a tangled web of self-destruction and "denial and delusion." Too bad she had to birth 2 daughters who, through no fault of their own, are saddled with this "basket case mother" forever, unless they get intensive therapy for years and years (not sure who would pay for it)!!!
  4. I saw on another thread that "600" will return on 1/1/20. However, I just read there's ANOTHER SHOW about 2 Kentucky sisters who weigh 1,000 lb. having a show featuring their weight loss efforts with another doctor (whom I've seen before in another weight-loss type show. I'm wondering if THIS SHOW (not "600") is the one returning? The promo specifically mentions a 1/1/20 air date.
  5. Oh, really???? That's GREAT!! Was the ad on TLC because usually they start "teasing" the new season with old episodes but as yet here in Phx, AZ I haven't seen that happening. I did see a FEW old episodes from time to time, but not the flurry of episodes that usually occur. However, the month is still young, so, hopefully, we're set for season 8!!
  6. I thought that Milla's living situation was far superior to other patients we see on the show. I don't know if she rented or owned the home she lived in; however it was well furnished and clean. As an aside (for whatever it's worth) she always appeared (after her weight loss, not before) neatly dressed and had no visible tattoos. I'm thinking Milla may have had better insurance that other poundticipants due to her widow status so she was covered for those long rehab stays. Perhaps her husband had a good job with survivor's benefits and/or left her an inheritance (or life insurance).
  7. Does anyone know absolutely, positively and unequivocally that a new season will be airing in January, 2020????? Still not sure why status of show is held as such a mysterious "secret." LOLOLOL
  8. There is a law in various states that's equivalent to: "driving while under the influence of a toxic substance" or something to that effect. However, again, I do not believe there has ever been an arrest for an impaired driver suffering from sugar/carb overload!! There probably should be, however, because I recall back in my days of eating myself into a food coma (donuts in the car....many, many donuts) I would experience that sugar "high" and then if the ride was long enough, a sudden drop into a semi-stupor where I could barely keep my eyes open on the road, and, yes, I did have to pull over and take a "nap" because I was dozing off. I'm sure I'm not alone in this....
  9. FANTASTIC!! I'm a prime member and will do exactly that as it's worth it to watch the episodes without "interruption" that I really enjoy. I hope a new season finally surfaces in January. Can't ever get confirmation that new season will be aired.
  10. I just saw a rerun of Brittani Fulfer's "where are they now" episode and I believe there was another subsequent episode where she got the skin removal for her legs??? (Not sure but THINK so). The big DRAWBACK of watching these episodes on TLC GO is those endless ad breaks that seem to go on FOREVER!! Does anyone know how to watch the "Where are they now" episodes without such "torture," (Yes, I'd be willing to pay to avoid the ads).
  11. I posted under another topic; HOWEVER, wanted to share my thoughts here that I'm concerned that our favorite show (600) won't be returning NOT BECAUSE TLC is pulling the plug BUT BECAUSE they can't provide enough content with "successful" candidates to warrant filming. The situation with Jeanne and MANY OTHERS last year was it was 2 hrs of HO-HUM nothing because no effort was being put into the program by the participants. I'm thinking the pickins' may be mighty slim to cast new shows, AND regarding the WATN shows, I'm thinking along the same lines: Very few (if ANY) are succeeding to the point where they want to be filmed. I recall that Joe (who married and divorced Sara) saying he would not be filmed for a follow-up show because he didn't want his weight revealed. I also recall Dottie (our dear dottie) saying she was done with filming for "obvious" reasons. ANYONE DISAGREE WITH THIS THEORY???
  12. I watched one of my "stored" episodes last night (cillas) and had a dark thought that MAYBE the reason there's no projected season 8 schedule (and it's already november) is because there were TOO FEW candidates who actually qualified for the show and/or stuck with the program long enough to film an episode!! Last season there were too many who, IMO, were "throw-away" candidates (not literally) who bored us silly for 2 hrs only to flame out and/or make NO PROGRESS! I originally thought the 600 lb. vault was full of fascinating candidates bursting to be seen in a new season and TLC was stalling with buying the new season episodes; however, now I'm wondering if the reason we're not getting any "teaser" shows scattered on the TLC lineup that usually heralds a new season of a show, is because there's no content available that's suitable for viewing. Even new episodes of the WATN offshoots, candidates may be wearing very thin with success stories. As we know, less than 5% keep the weight off. Speaking as someone who lost 100 lbs 15 years ago and kept it off, I know what I have to do each and every day to avoid falling into old habits. Believe me, it's a constant effort that requires enormous discipline and focus!!
  13. LOLOL.....I live in north central phx but had to travel to mesa many times when I was working for the County!!
  14. I thought Darcy looked extremely dispirited and tired throughout the show. I noted that her hair was borderline disheveled (dark roots right beneath the brassy blond), her gown didn't fit and she could barely walk in those Louboutins. Her lackluster demeanor might have been caused by her instinctive knowledge that her gig is up on TLC and she's going to have to get back to "real life" and attend to her responsibilities. I also thought the body language between her and Tom on the couch was quite revealing. Not an ounce of affection and/or emotional connection could be detected by me...just 2 ships passing in the night to their ultimate separate destinations. I hope Tom enjoyed his 15 mins of "fame" on TLC and his foray into reality TV was enough to convince him to confine his dating life to more manageable situations (maybe local) where massive time differences and personal insecurities from a potential "mate" wouldn't create such a massive (and annoying) disruption in his life.
  15. Nothing would surprise me about these two. Benjamin is such a dolt he'd fall for anything and she's so superior to him intellectually (and in many other ways) their relationship is simply a setup for disaster. I'm not sure WHY she would want to leave her Country for the US. She's a highly educated woman who obviously has status there are could no doubt build a successful career and family life. Not to in any way disparage Mesa, AZ (near where I live); however, with the level of income and lifestyle Benji maintains (with obligations to his son) Akinyi would probably tire of her living situation and Ben in record time.
  16. Oh, yes, now I recall that's what they agreed to do for Nicole and Azan. Merely on that basis, I immediately believed both had "screws loose" to make that kind of "open-ended commitment" to those two miscreants, neither of whom seem capable of earning an honest dollar. I guess the father's other character flaws started to erupt and, hopefully, his wife divorced him before all this other very objectionable behavior surfaced!!
  17. Agreed, there were some childhood issues left unaddressed. I watched the repeat of the episode last evening (I'm recovering from knee replacement surgery so trying to rest) and was struck by the fact that at the end when Maja was at that volunteer place she seemed the happiest ever! I think her total weight loss was in the neighborhood of 100 lbs. so maybe that's "it" for her. Maybe that's as far as she cares to go with weight loss. Maybe she will learn to accept herself for the weight she's at and focus on helping others less fortunate than she is and appreciating her efforts on her behalf. Let's hope she steers clear of hitching up with any more "romantic" (I use the word loosely) relationships that turn into disasters!!
  18. I seem to recall the dad was married to what appeared to be a respectable woman when they both agreed to pay for Nicole's trip to Morocco (or am I only imagining ???)
  19. On that basis wouldn't some sort of private tutoring be desirable? I'm sure Jen is on top of their educational progress and she and Bill will provide all the additional help the kids would benefit the most from receiving. As the kids get older and approach that "middle school" (adolescent) stage with hormone "eruptions" it seems likely Jen and Bill will make sure each is as well adjusted as possible so each is less likely to fall prey to certain "acting out" behaviors that might occur should either feel like he/she doesn't "fit in" or can't compete with their peers educationally.
  20. Please indulge me this fleeting thought as I read your post: I wonder if she actually knew exactly HOW a woman becomes pregnant?? Am kind of chuckling as I write this but the thought crossed my mind.
  21. I, too, found that a glaring omission. It was as if she became pregnant by herself. Maybe the boy and/or his parents wanted nothing to do with the publicity generated by the trial and I noticed that HIS complete name was never mentioned.
  22. Maybe I missed it but did they read her Miranda rights to her so she knew she had the right to an attorney when the police first brought her in for questioning??? It always irritates and frustrates me when an accused thinks the police are there to get "their side of the story." So much aggravation and misery (and probably $$$ for lawyers) would be avoided if the accused would simply say she wanted a lawyer present before she answered any questions from the police from DAY 1. In Skylar's case, she seemed so frail and uncertain about everything having to do with the case, and everything having to do with her life in general, it would be hard to understand how the case could have unwound any other way. I do believe the sentence was fair in her particular case because I don't believe she would have physically/emotionally survived in a jail/prison setting (speaking from years of working in criminal defense).
  23. I would agree with that theory but am not sure Jen and Bill wouldn't automatically conclude that instead of focusing on the inappropriate behavior, the other kids were reacting to Will's size. In either case, I'm sure Jen and Bill can appropriately guide the kids on how to handle taunts made by other kids as they've experienced similar incidents themselves. I recall that in a recent episode reference was made to Jen's size (or maybe Bill's) by children of their friends and it was immediately handled in a most effective way.
  24. I do recall that when the kids were younger there was an episode where Jen and Bill were reading to them from children's story books about "Little People" . I also recall Bill stating how he was bullied about his size growing up and remember Will stating that his karate buddies kept calling him a "baby" so it is reasonable to assume that the issue of the kids status as "Little People" really can't be swept under the rug and ignored. I do believe that the kids will definitely benefit from our society today where people's "differences" are accepted and there is an emphasis on "diversity" and "inclusion."
