  1. DARCEY. NEVER. STOPS. - I am no fan of Jesse. His superior attitude disgusts me. But if I had to listen to Darcey’s constant commentary I think I would explode in anger at her all the time, too. She simply cannot stop micromanaging every situation and muttering comments endlessly.
  2. I’m not sure she does. That could explain why she couldn’t buy cuter underwear & clothing before going to England. But You definitely have me thinking now, and wondering if that is the case.
  3. To me, John appears the look of someone who realizes they made a horrible mistake. The reality of a girlfriend who wears granny panties, a cat sweater, & no makeup, - and comes with a pre-made baby - is maybe not seeming quite the thing he wants anymore.
  4. I was completely convinced Ben murdered her, but then seeing him at the service threw me. Heck, other than Cole none of the Lockhart family was there. It seemed strange to see Ben there unless he really did actually care & was grieving. I guess that was just Treem's last trick to place doubt in the minds of viewers like me. I suppose it's possible Ben was there just to continue looking innocent, and maybe a psychopath would do that because they enjoy knowing they've fooled everyone ...but when I saw him I definitely thought my assumption must have been wrong, and she must have committed suicide after all. Thanks for providing the link which Treem admits was was, indeed, murder.
  5. i suspect Melissa’s boyfriend or pimp is running the catfish con, and she has never even texted Ricky. She just poses for the photos.
  6. Exactly what I thought would happen, too. I think the writers wanted us to think that was what would be coming. Little did we know what was actually coming was 100x worse. BTW- love how she fantasized about the better interior. The wood accent walls & fireplace were beautiful. I kept thinking, "huh? But I remembered her apartment being pretty modest, and certainly she would not have made improvements because she rents it." In the second version her apartment was back to normal- no fireplace, no accent walls, furniture that looked a bit shabby-chic like it was already there when she moved in... and I knew, "oh my god, fantasy over. Now here we go..."
  7. Having been in an abusive relationship when I was a teen (now 36 years ago), this episode put me right back there feeling the panic again of being terrified the slightest thing would set him off. Man, I could barely sleep last night - I just kept replaying the episode in my mind. It felt like we truly watched someone be killed. I still can't shake it. The acting from both of them was tremendously powerful.
  8. I thought it was a bra tattoo, also!! LOL. I was completely obsessed with it. I still don't fully understand what it was.
  9. “She’s not my grandma. She’s my future wife.” Man, I love this show.

  11. Just watched the episode, and I'm surprised so many people here liked it. It was probably my least favorite so far the season. Sorry, just too much Helen. It's like she was a Noah with all her words of wisdom for everyone else while we all know her own life is a mess. And really?- she could not think of any fears? - How about Vic's cancer? How about pregnancy at 50? How about relocating to a place that feels totally foreign to her? She's rightfully terrified of all those things, but she suddenly draws a blank? When Gaia (sp?) handed over her Guru Baton to Helen I rolled my eyes and wondered if that really happened from anyone else's POV. I kept thinking she should shut up and try to learn something to give her more perspective on handling her own problems, but no - first she snarked & then she handed out advice. Me thinks the others might not really have been as appreciative of her involvement as she imagined they were. Noah's segment was more of the same that we always get - Noah to the rescue. It's becoming more & more clear to me Noah & Helen will end up back together because they are the same types of people. And Cole & Alison will end up back together because - well, just because.
  12. Hollywood is the land of Ego. Studios are known for making punitive decisions to show they control a situation. This show was never going to be a big money maker- it's a campy vaudeville act with a niche audience. Keep it, sell it, or discontinue it = dollars too small to quibble over from the network's POV. It doesn't need to make sense to anyone ...but it happens all the time in Hollywood.
  13. A lot of people are saying Helen was super nice to Allison, but I saw it more like there was a controlled tolerance to her demeanor. Like she was trying very hard to say the right things but did not truly empathize.
  14. Be honest- how many of us thought Delphine may have slipped that #4 instruction in there just so she could get a little man meat??
  15. Why is it every time time June is told to hide, all she hears is, "look out a window"...?
  16. Gilead Getaway Tours: A Prayvaganza is just around the corner
  17. Thank you for posting the link to that article. A really, really good read.
  18. Hallelujah! We've had enough flashbacks. There's no further value in showing us the past (except maybe Aunt Lydia's backstory, but I'm actually in favor of keeping her former life a mystery until a future season). Let's just get on with the Here & Now abut how Gilead is functioning. I have no problem with suspended disbelief when it comes to slight inconsistencies- like Gavin not being a real 'newborn', and Moira claiming in S1 that Odette was sent to the colonies (I'm assuming she thought that based on rumors, and maybe now we're seeing she was never really convinced those rumors were true). But for goodness sake, we need the writers to give us give us some MEAT when it comes to the important stuff of how this government can exist. We could use some clarity on even simple questions- like ...We know that Waterford is a high ranking official, but it seems like there is no clear managerial structure and there's a constant power-play for who is in charge. And frankly I've never been convinced Waterford is charismatic enough to be very influential... And when it comes to Aunt Lydia, why is she always out & about checking on her former Handmaids? Should she be in the R&L center training the new crop? Or do Aunts get permanently assigned to the one group they train?... And in Canada, why is Luke always moping around doing nothing of importance? Yes, he's a refugee but can't he get a job?- even if just a volunteer job at the refugee center? I know there's been a LOT of discussion about him, and he never bothered me before but if they show him looking useless one more time I'm going to have a real problem with him. Come on writers- you have so much material to work with and all we keep getting are flashbacks. Enough already.
  19. When the Canadian office read the names & showed the photos of the handmaids who had died, I was bawling. Especially when Lillie’s photo appeared. It gutted me.
  20. OMG, you are right - it's the same actress. I had no idea, either. Now it clicks but it never even occurred to me.
  21. http://academic.depauw.edu/aevans_web/HONR101-02/WebPages/Fall 2007/Sarah/Handmaid's Tale/basics.html Don't forget Aunts. They are the top of the female food chain.
  22. As a viewer, I felt strangely happy to be back in the Waterford home. Not because I wanted June back there- but because there are so many unanswered questions about Serena. The actress is so masterful in her portrayal, I crave more screen time with her. She admitted in S1 she never imagined a world where women would not be allowed to read... and she is clearly frustrated with her limitations in this new life... She is a puzzle to me and I’m fascinated with her. There is so much more to comment on in this episode, but I’ll stick with Serena in this posting — she was reprimanded for smoking by Aunt Lydia. It’s not good for the baby. Seeing her afterward smoking a cigarette in the nursery, I think is foreshadowing that June may lose the baby- or maybe even have an Unbaby. Serena will have to live with that, believing it was her fault for being so careless during pregnancy.
