  1. So, I think I'm reading that on today's show the ladies played more like a team? Yeah, that's what's missing teamwork which is missing the letter "I", which is part of the reason why this show has fallen apart. To many "I's" at the table. By the way, when Whoopi is there does she get her usual seat back? Or, has Joy taken that seat over indefinitely? I remember when Barbara would show up Meredith never gave up that seat and we know Barbara was the head honcho, but Meredith kept her position at the table because she was the lead moderator 90% of the time. Even when Barbara was there Meredith seemed to lead, take us to commercial breaks, do a lot of the introductions etc.. she seemed to equally move the show along with Barbara. Meredith had such a great speaking voice and temperament and everyone at the table knew it, knew that it was good for the team if she led. The egos were in check. I agree with the post that talked about the debating skills of Meredith, Star and Joy back then and I will add Lisa. Those women had good debating skills. You just never felt that anyone was feeling so insecure that they had to overshadow the other. Here's hoping they can get back to that sense of teamwork. That I don't like you personally, but we've got a job to do and it's to put on a good show for the people. You know, like the rest of us in other professions who maybe can't stand some of the people we work with but, um, get over it because we all gotta eat and we're not if the job doesn't get done. Just get it done, end of story.
  2. Yeah, exactly, I agree. My point overall was that this shouldn't be all thrown on Kris. Where is Kylie in the discussion? You want to act grown, then step up and have a conversation with your father. This family is full of shit anyway because who really knows that she didn't talk to Caitlyn. Everything is a set up with this group. And since some of the posts including mine seem to take some of the heat off of Kris or at least empathize with her, this whole scene could have been designed to do just that and it worked.
  3. Wait, whose egg is it? I know it's the ex-husband's sperm, but is it Sherri's egg? I don't think so from the looks of that baby. Anyway, Sherri is an idiot because she's so desperate. Her inability to not act out of desperation will continue to screw her over. Now we have her talking up this twenty something year old flight attendant, which I first heard her talking about on black radio back in May/June. Oh lordy, when will this woman learn? Joy cracked me up when she told her to stop talking about him because she doesn't have the greatest track record. Yes, STFU Sherri. And I'm with D.L. Hughley, can't stand that ex-husband, nothing but a loser, he saw Sherri's desperation a mile away and hit the jackpot. DL can't stand a man who can't pay his own way, man looking for a meal ticket, he can't stand it and I'm with him. What a mess.
  4. Exactly, I didn't have the energy to write what you've written, but this is exactly what it all boils down to for me; Davis and those like her seem like hypocrites. People like Behar only list what to others seems like slut shaming, as a response to her condemnation of homosexuals. She believes her living god is telling her that she mustn't issue marriage licenses because same sex marriage is a sin. Well I surely don't believe that Behar and those like her would be listing this woman's transgressions if she didn't come off like the "almighty" him/herself while standing up for her religious beliefs. The Behars of our society are calling Davis a hypocrite when we list all the acts/choices she made in her personal life that we understand the bible to also condemn. It's basically, who the hell is she to cast stones? And worse, to use the authority she's been granted to cast these stones of hypocrisy at the very citizens that help pay her salary as a public official. Hey there is no great sin in being a hypocrite. I wouldn't even say that I'm without hypocrisy; I'm sure I can find some examples within myself if I'm honest and look close enough. But hypocrisy is a real fucking problem when you have the authority that this woman holds. I'm all for local and federal government finding ways to respect their employees' religious freedom, but not at the expense of another group's right to equality.
  5. Why does this show have so many hosts? Are still auditioning these women? Trying to see what works? Because five women should be the limit and they can have a decent conversation with just four. The show use to do fine with four back in the day with Meredith, Joy, Star and Lisa when Barbara wasn't there. Oh who am I kidding, the show just lacks talent and intelligence and they for some reason think that adding more bodies at the table will um, make this less obvious? What on earth are they doing? I don't know, maybe go back and watch the tapes back when you had the four I listed above and before Star Jones became completely off the rails with that farce of a wedding. Yeah, watch those tapes and figure out how to get hosts that will recapture some of "that", because it worked then.
  6. Well she should be able to practice with Kroy? Didn't she meet him at a dance competition. I remember him on the dance floor, it was a ballroom dancing competition right? I don't think he was bad, he was pretty good. Oh wait, isn't he off training, this is the football season, so he's not around right?
  7. But didn't her first wife know? I thought she said that the first wife had known for some time, that I think she was the first and only one she told for a while now. She's know for years about everything, even before her sister? Because I think I remember during either the Diane Sawyer interview or that two hour E special, that it was like why her out of the three wives, why did she know?
  8. Caitlyn was and is just like every other member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan. I've never thought that she was any less selfish, delusional and narcissistic than the rest of them. Her behavior toward Kris in not at all unexpected, it just like her behavior and lack of understanding toward Brody's resentment. I think at the time she had the nerve to form the words that Brody should just get over it....Caitlyn is an idiot at times, every time she says I can't believe in regards to the stories of the experiences of other transgender men and women it annoys the shit out of me. Living wealthy on a hill is no excuse. All wealthy people aren't this unaware and delusional when it comes to the realities of other human beings. Really, you can't believe that some of them had to turn to sex work or that they experience all sorts of violent attacks, really? What world are you looking down on from your ivory tower. Don't say you can't believe it, not in this world. Maybe you weren't aware of all the horrid details, but don't act like it's all unbelievable? There's a lot of shit I'm unaware of but none of it is unbelievable when I'm made aware of it, not in this day and age, please. I'm not part of the transgender community, but I live in the fucking world and have witnessed its evil, so no act of intolerance and hate should be unbelievable. So she just annoys me when she acts like she hasn't been in the land of the living. Kim acts the same way by the way, she's another one with her I can't believe statements....bullshit. But again, I'm not surprised, that's the way Caitlyn acted. So like Kris said, it's just who she was and who she is. That being said, I still think that she really wanted to remain in the marriage with Kris. She likes Kris, but she's also very jealous of Kris. Anyway, you can never tell where anyone is truly coming from in this family, you just can't, one just knows that they all seem anything but genuine. Last thing, I like Jen Boylan, the kids camp was wonderful to see and so was the transgender minister, that was really good.
  9. Wait a minute because I just posted about this in the other thread, was it a party she wasn't invited to? Or, the graduation ceremony at the school? Because I thought it was the graduation ceremony which isn't a surprise. If it was a surprise party that she wasn't invited to then.....although I don't buy that damn thing is a "surprise" when it comes to this family. A real surprise has to be organic, natural, real and there's nothing real about these folks. They all live for the camera, it's all about appearances which means preparation, therefore, no surprises. Yeah, I'm back to blaming Kylie and not putting this all on Kris. Oh yeah, I forgot that she was home schooled, so there's no graduation ceremony I suppose. At any rate, I don't buy the surprise at all.
  10. This is exactly what I feel when I watch her on this show. She really can't take that things are not the "same" between she and her family. And it has to be beyond painful that she wasn't invited to Kylie's graduation because you can blame Kris all you want, but Kylie is 18 not 5 nor 10. She is young lady and could have put her foot down and invited her dad, but she went along with it because.....yes, "things" are different and she like the rest of the family is having trouble adjusting. Why the hell does Kris need to invite her? Her daughter is old enough to say hey dad my graduation is on such and such a date will you come? Or if it's uncomfortable and they both feel it would be at this point, dad might want to have dinner with her to celebrate. But you mean to tell me that grown up Tyga riding Kylie couldn't approach her dad? Why is this all on mom like she's in grade school? I know when all those girls get good and ready they can tell Kris to fuck off and they do, so.. Yeah what really hurts Caitlyn is that she knows deep down her daughter didn't want her there as Caitlyn, she's not ready for it. I can see how coming out to support her dad at the ESPY's and making an appearance on the reality show can seem completely different to her than inviting her dad to a graduation ceremony with her peers. Anyway, Jen Boylan? Is that her name? She keeps telling Caitlyn that it will take time for family to come around, Kris in particular and I also think I heard her say they may never come around. She's is clearly trying to constantly prepare Caitlyn for the reality of what her family dynamic might become when all is said and done. I really feel for Caitlyn. She so wants things to be the same and because of her fame, it's going to be hard to trust those newcomers friends and possible mates. Are they there just for the cameras? I think the only way she'll be able to tell is when the cameras stop rolling.
  11. She was very empathetic to me. Meaning I empathized with her inability and fear of showing empathy. But I just loved the character even when she was wrong and I liked when she was taught lessons. Sometimes it was overkill and I was like OK, move on and let her learn her lesson. This Cristina robot shit is exactly that, because I didn't see it. To me she was the type of person who was afraid to feel, but not one that was unfeeling. Never bought that, maybe it was the way the actress played it, but I always got that if she actually acknowledge all those feelings she felt she would lose control and that was a no, no, in her mind if she were going to become a successful surgeon. That was actually part of the characters long arc of internal growth to realize and not be afraid of feelings that come from the connections you make and acknowledge, actually make you a better surgeon. I just adored this character and all her flaws. Yeah I forgot the season, I think it was season four, because George had failed the intern exam. I think Lexie was trying to help George so she broke into Webber's files and George found her doing so, and she started to read all of the MAGIC's files. In Cristina's she read aloud that Cristina had dyslexia with all these recommendations and first in her class, George had even more recommendations, I think Alex "lied" LOL, and his file said that he had testicular cancer and think only had one ball left, gotta love Karev. Izzie's had stuff on her financial struggles,oh it wasn't specifics on her financial state but all the jobs that she worked while putting herself through school. I don't think she read anything from Meredith's file though...at least I don't remember anything on her. Oh, yeah and speaking of struggle how could I forget Karev, I actually would just about put him at the front of the line before all of them. The poverty and mental illness that has plagued his family in which he from the time he was boy has been the only one managing it, yeah, he takes the prize IMO. Because he has had no support all his life, he can't even count on one sibling, it's just always been him, alone.
  12. Financially, the Shepard children never had to struggle. Maybe they weren't Beverly Hills rich like Cristina's stepfather, but they weren't poor. Mark on the other hand was like an orphan because he became like their adoptive brother and they took him in. Cristina had to struggle due to the same childhood trauma that Amelia had to suffer through. Watching your dad die a bloody death and being unable to save him. But, Cristina, had even more of a struggle than Amelia seeing as she had dyslexia a learning disorder and a mother who lacked warmth to connect with her daughter and who was utterly superficial. So, I'll have to disagree with the idea that Cristina never had to struggle for anything. I'd say getting to where she got in her academic and professional careers with a learning disorder and no support or connection with the only biological parent she had left is plenty struggle. Beverly Hills doesn't matter especially since I've never gotten the impression that Amelia and the Shepards had any financial struggles. Amelia can take a ticket and stand in line either next to Cristina or behind her but sure as hell not in front of her when it comes to cornering a market on struggle. And Meredith had no damn parents, she didn't have a learning disability but she had no damn parents, which was made worse because it wasn't like they died. Those two wolves were alive, one treated her like shit and the other flat out took care of his other children and acted like she was um, dead. So yeah, sit down Amelia.
  13. Funny, because she, Nicolle was on Rachel Maddow's show last night and it was such a pleasant exchange. But that's the norm on Maddow's show with all her guest because she's the host. She makes anyone bearable to the point of me sitting through her interview with Rick Santorum, love Maddow, she's just so cool and brilliant IMO. I keep checking in here to see if Whoopi is gone, and who the hell is that Michelle woman? I've never heard nor seen her anywhere but on this show. I don't know much about Faris except her work on the very early news program that use to come on like 3 am, then she moved to GMA I think, but....if she's there to be a ditz, she better stop it because she has better skills than that. She is a reporter and she's not bad at it based on what I've seen. For now, Joy is all this show's got going for it and I think Raven might do better, but it's about chemistry and this show lost is chemistry years ago, jeesh. They just can't find it anymore.
  14. Yeah, I think she's had a problem with execution for me at least since the end of season two. And speaking of organically, her infamous monologues drive me insane, no, just no, for any and ALL characters. Sometimes they work like Cristina staring lifelessly in the bathtub, Owen bathing her and she retelling details of the plane crash and Lexie's corpse and drinking her own urine to survive. That monologue worked for me. But Cristina's monologue in season four to Adele and Chief Webber when they all had to sign that paper as to whom they had relationships with etc. and she went on and on about how she was feeling being screwed over by Burke, ugh, that was a fail. And Shonda needs to know when a monologue just doesn't work. Neither did the one to Owen about her relationship with Burke, that one definitely should have been a conversation, where one person speaks, the other listens, and then responds with words of acknowledgement or attempt at understanding and so on..... Not one person rambles on and on with tears in their eyes and the other just stares then fade to black end of story, ugh. Stop it, it's all lazy writing IMO.
  15. I get the impression that Caityn wants to continue to be treated with all the perks that come with being a white man in America. I think she still identifies with those perks so to speak. I think she wants to have it both ways and this is one of the reasons for the disconnect that I'm seeing between her and the transgender community. She definitely comes off sometimes as if she thinks she's better than them. For example, when she went to the support group with Chandi, they were sharing their experiences and I think someone talked about filling out applications and how hard it is to know what to choose in terms of gender, then you had them speak on the driver's license picture not matching their current features, and I was like why didn't Caitlyn share with them. I mean, we had just seen the clip with her talking about the golf club locker room, then with I forgot the woman's name, but the one that was talking to her about legally changing her name. But she never shared as if to say oh yeah, I'm experiencing that right now etc...and I was.....just to connect. It's like she sits in those meetings and acts like she's some counselor who's seen it all and is all settled and is going to help these poor souls....when she needs the same help and support. We see her admit some in her talking heads but when she's in these groups, I don't know, again, just a disconnect, like I'm really not like them. One other thing, it's clear to me that she's still attracted to women and I would also go so far as to say that if she could have gone through this and stayed with Chris Jenner, she would have if it were an option. As ugh, those of us find the Kardashians and Chris Jenner to be, I think she loved it as miserable as she appeared to be.She liked that they managed her money and she could fly her planes and do all her other hobbies, the only thing is she had to dress as a man and be a man doing them. I truly think she wishes she had what, I can't remember her name but the woman whose wife stayed with her transitioning and they are still together.
  16. Again it's not about Pompeo wanting to be the star, but it's the reality that the creator created the show with her being the star. There is no doubt based on countless interviews that Meredith Grey is the star in and of Grey's Anatomy. And I'm no cheerleader for that, but it's reality. You keep saying she wants to be, and maybe that because like me, you never thought of her as the star because you never connected with the character, I don't know. I know that's why I never felt like she was the star, but what I feel and what I know are two very different things in this case. When you say she wants to be the star it sounds like Pompeo has had to claw her way and step over others to do so and this is where we disagree because the "preordained" lead and star of a show doesn't need to do that whether viewers like him/her or not. The creator has presented the show to the audience, right from the very beginning with this actor/actress as the star of the show. They don't have to want to or fight for a position they already have. In terms of equality, for me equality means that both men and women get the same chance at the same opportunities if they work hard enough for it. It means they get paid the same for the same work. It also means that women don't get judged and crucified negatively for any of their life/career choices they make, as long as their not breaking any laws. Being a stay at home mother should be equally applauded as the woman who want to focus on her career and not have children, as well as all the other choices in between that women make for themselves. This is truly what feminism is IMO. And I still think our society/culture overall, both men and women, still have a ways to go in understanding and embracing this concept. So in terms of women being leads and men taking the backseat when it comes to the field of entertainment I have no issue with it. Why? Because there was a time when there were no female leads, let alone roles for actors/actresses in other minority groups. Sometimes I appreciate the fantasy that is presented to me on screen, but other times I want the world in which I live in to be reflected on that screen and for many years Hollywood was failing miserably on that front. They've gotten better, but they need to keep pushing forward because there's still work to be done. I feel that this is what Shonda is trying to do, even out the playing field. As much as she pisses me off, her daring not to give me what I wanted for my character LOL, I definitely support what she is trying to do overall when it comes to television and how women are portrayed. Maybe she doesn't get it right, maybe she does for some, but I get what she has been attempting to do and it's striving for equality as far as I am concerned. If this show doesn't have men being more at the center in terms of story line I wouldn't call it an example of inequality because it's just not happening widespread across the field of entertainment. This is a drama in which the creator wanted the story lines to be told from the women's points of view. I guess I can understand though, that if you've watched the show for a decade plus and you've fallen in love with various pairings, that within those pairings you'd want to at some point see a bit more of the other partner's point of view especially a pairing that you've watched for a decade.
  17. I watched Roseanne as well and Murphy Brown a bit and I still don't think they had the edge that Cristina had, nor did they come off as caustic. But yeah they were unapologetic. We'll just have to agree to disagree, because I think that the character of Cristina Yang, the actress who played her and the fact that it was an actress of Asian descent in the role, and one without the typical small petite features that Hollywood looks for in their Asian actresses, which Oh has addressed in interviews, all of these factors made the character light up the screen in a way I had not seen on tv before. So, for me there are many factors and I have my perception and others have theirs. We'll agree to disagree. Bottom line for me is, as much as I loved the Rosanne show, Murphy Brown wasn't must see tv for me but I'll give her, her due, neither woman made me sit up and take that much notice, sorry. Again, like I said, it's all about perception and I guess preference. Yang made me take notice and it was different in a way the other two were not, at least not for this viewer.
  18. This episode had me cracking up, the reporter was hilarious while giving directions to the camera man to pan over to Jim's wife, hilarious. And "choke a bitch" was also funny, that would be Jim choking Veronica. Too bad that someone else is going to get the bullet that is meant for Veronica in the coming episodes. I wonder who? Jeffrey, good to see him standing up for himself and looks like he'll be telling ungrateful Wyatt off next week. He also needs to open his eyes to that guy, what's his name? I think they slept together. But the guy does seem like a nice guy, he better not let him get away. What the hell kind of bathing suit was Candace was wearing? With a figure like that why does she need a bathing suit that looks like a girdle? Is that some kind of new style in bathing suits that I'm not up on? Again, I think TP secretly dislikes and is "jealous" of the actress. Now with all these secrets coming to light, what exactly does Candace still have on Jim?
  19. It's not that she wants to be the star, in reality she is the star of the show, not Dempsey or Oh who was for me the star. But that doesn't take away from the fact that I know that the creator intended for Pompeo and her character to be the star of the show. She is not supposed to be on equal footing with Dempsey and his character she is supposed to be above him and everyone else sitting at the top. I must say I can't blame the woman for being annoyed, with the negativity, because she's still there trying to do her job, she's put in the time etc.. Each of Shonda's shows has a female star KW and VD are the stars of her other two shows. Now viewers may not care for those two either and other actors/actresses may seem more like the stars to them but that doesn't take away from the fact that the leads on these three shows get top billing, they are women, and were intended to be the stars. I may not be a huge fan of MG or Pompeo who plays her, but I am a supporter of women getting their due and I still see double standards and injustice. See IMO this is where the sexism comes in because I honestly don't believe that if the reverse were the case and this show had PD as the lead and being the voice that told the story, that if Ellen left there would be all this outrage. The couple was huge, I'm sure Pompeo knows this but she is an individual, an actor in her own right and I can understand her feeling resentment as people act like the "world is coming to an end" because her character's better half is gone and clearly how can she go on..... And, she's gotta act like she she'll miss PD so much and praise their partnership continuously, or she just ungrateful, full of herself....whatever. His face and hair and so called "McDreamy" persona may have been what sold the show all these years and they used him to do so, but bottom line, a woman was meant to be the star of this show, not "McDreamy."
  20. Yeah, they get along. I've even heard Joy defending Rosie again Hasslebeck. Yeah, Joy seems to be against all the constant Rosie hate talk. And I listen to black radio and even Sherri was on there defending her. The radio host asked her why is Rosie so mean, and Sherri said I don't know about that because Rosie was the one who helped her with her contract on the View. I guess when she was renegotiating and she said that Rosie advised her as to what to ask for etc.. I don't know where Tom Joyner got that Rosie was mean, I had no idea what he was talking about. Maybe you would get the impression that she's hard to work with but that does not mean she's a flat out mean person, at least not to me. I was like WTH is he talking about, he doesn't even know her, has had no interaction with her. I'll tell you what, for such a mean person, that talk show she had on ABC years ago sure gave me some joy to watch. Like I said it was always bubbly, bright and positive. So was her recent stand up show on HBO, funny and informative, HEPPP, hot, exhausted a pain, pale, puke....it was a good show. Boy, people have such a mob mentality, just gang up and pile shit on when they don't like someone, it's relentless.
  21. Yeah, the dog story line seems like it's crossing the line into I don't know but... It kinda feels a bit uncomfortable to have this focus on the dogs genitalia and talking about giving the dog a" BJ" when their cook, Tracey, was blowing on that area. Yeah it wasn't funny to me. Just seems a bit inappropriate to me, call me a prude but, I didn't like it, ewww. I know that clearly isn't what Tracey was doing, I don't even think that is where her mind was at. But it was sick ass Troy and Kim making it into something sexual between a human and an animal, no, no, that's not funny.
  22. Oh thanks, it was beautifully haunting. A lot of Springsteen and Joel in this series, nice. Was the main song of the series, a Springteen too? That "Where ya gonna run to where ya gonna hide...." Not sure if that's the title but those were the lyrics right?
  23. Of course there's redemption for him, the man didn't kill or molest/rape anyone, he's flawed, some may think very flawed compared to other characters. But all these characters are flawed, some very self-destructive just like real life people are...It's just I don't care about him because he's just another reminder that Cristina never got the love she deserved because the character was beholden to Meredith Grey. I truly hope SO doesn't come back for the finale of this show unless she comes back with someone that she loves and considers her family. Even if it's a damn puppy, LOL, I'm not kidding. Shonda is full of shit, because as I've said before Meredith has always had a long line of people she could rely on if she cared to, she has many ties but Cristina had none, in the end she had none. Yet they are the "true love story", get the fuck out of here. I'd buy that if Meredith didn't have half the ties she has to characters on this canvas. I don't buy that either woman actually misses the other quite frankly. It's just that if shit every really truly falls apart they can be one another's crutches. I'm not saying I never bought the bond they had, I just don't buy that it's all that close that she can continue to sell that true love crap. I hadn't for some time so ... But for me and others like me, we never watched this show for Mer/Cris first. For me, it was nice and a change to see a close friendship between women because you've seen it time and time again between men on the screens, as in the "bros before hoes motto". But never women, so I give props to Shonda. Men have been written time and time again to put the "love" of their buddies first before relationships with women, but you never really see women doing the same on screen. So, I understand where she was coming from with this friendship, but the damn thing became too needy for way too long and it just seemed after a while to hold Cristina back IMO.
  24. I am going to watch it again because I missed the beginning minutes in part one so I missed the introductions of many of the characters. I started watching when he was handing out flyers to people on the street saying that he was running for mayor. However, I have watched five and six twice, especially the final minutes because as sad as it was I just love the last shot with Mary and Doreen. I love that it ended with the shot of those two. I also love the song they played at the end even though it was sad and haunting. Does anybody know who that was singing?
  25. OK, yes, this is it, this makes sense. Thanks for the name, I always forget his name, but he's a good actor. I also think he has a chain of supermarkets which set up in poor neighborhoods in African-American communities so that the residents can have access to fresh produce. I think they even give the residents rides to and from the markets seeing as lack of transportation is another issue. He was talking about this too on Politically Incorrect. My cousin was a traveling/visiting nurse in NYC and in some of these neighborhoods you can't even get a salad from McDonald's. She went into a McDonald's and asked for one of their salads and the girl looked at her like she was crazy. She told her that she needed to check in the back to see if they carry salads. And no, it wasn't that they ran out, it was that she wasn't sure they even sold them. I guess people never ask for them so maybe the manager stopped having them delivered to that location. I don't know, but the girl looked at her like she was speaking a foreign language. They truly don't have access to fruits and vegetables.
