  1. That would be awesome! I'm officially retired so I would be happy to drive to Baltimore ... Fells Point? Here in Gaithersburg there aren't quite as many good bars!
  2. This. Is. Brilliant. May I borrow it? I'll totes give you credit (fellow Marylander here!)
  3. I hear you ... not to mention how even after the weight loss, it all seems to redistribute itself! I only weigh a few pounds more now than what I weighed before I got pregnant 28-years-plus-eight-months ago (Little Snappy celebrated her birthday last week but she was a month early ... no, I'm not pulling a Karine!) but I was a legit Size 6 then (and had JUST lost enough weight to fit into a Size 4 skirt for the first time since I passed it on the weigh up at age 12) whereas now I'm a 12 on a good day (and this takes into account a trend I've noticed in the last few decades where sizes have become more generous, maybe to make people feel better about themselves ... I bet I'd be a 16 if they were the same). EVERYTHING goes right to the belly. Plenty of room to spare in there from where she got comfortable as a lateral lie.
  4. Surely you don't expect the saleswoman at an Albuquerque strip mall cut-rate bridal store about to have its day in the national TV sun to actually, you know, look in the mirror and run a comb through the birds nest in her hair? I was sooooo comfy in my La-Z-Boy with a glass of nice red wine that it was the hardest thing I've ever done not to hit "pause" JUST to come to my laptop and post about THAT HAIR on this thread. And no, I'm not being facetious. I really almost did. But I also felt confident someone else would bring it up!
  5. THOSE DIMPLES! Plus, in comparison to the others this season he's Mr. Universe. But yes, I think he's cute too.
  6. Six pages of awesome, I have virtually nothing left to add that hasn't already been said brilliantly ... except for this one question: Did we know, before Pole's convo with Pole Mom at the restaurant that there was a Pole DAD in the picture, apparently alive and still married to Pole Mom? Was anyone else as shocked as I was (I mean, I can understand if the guy has any self-esteem or awareness why he would not want to be a part of this trainwreck or even admit paternity/marriage to this pair, but still surprised it was never referred to ... unless it was addressed during one of the several scenes this season where I just dozed off)?
  7. LOL ... I guess that's the new TLC code for screen time. Oh, and a free trip to New York to further his "modeling career."
  8. Thrilled it's coming back, wish it were for longer, but understand why it's not. Absolutely my favorite current show.
  9. I desperately want this to be the one show where Lawrence Gilliard, Jr., survives to the end! Also hoping for the mid-season return of Leon, one of my favorite characters from S1. Before S2 started, I posited that I didn't think a legit business owner would spend more than four years in jail for killing a pimp, and in fact someone (I think Rodney?) actually says exactly that when discussing Leon's return with his replacement (Chauncey, who I think they said is Leon's cousin) ... was psyched when it was brought up that he'd be coming back, but worry it may have just been a teaser.
  10. If you're a fan of GWTW can I suggest the novel "A Touch of Stardust"? Very cool novel about Gable and Lombard and the making of the movie as told by Lombard's personal assistant (it's fiction, but quite good, especially if you're a GWTW/Gable&Lombard fan!)
  11. @gonecrackers: Still not sure what it was called but it was from 2013 and here is a bridal site recap of the show ... http://bridalhotlist.com/tlcs-four-weddings-episode-recap-september-12th-3012848/ Re: DJ, hubby was okay with the decision (not that he had much say in the matter LMAO -- we agreed that it would all be her call, knowing it would probably end up LESS foofoo and LESS pricey done her way anyway LOL) ... I was on her side on this from the get-go because I know how deep/obscure her taste in music is (even within the parameters of Motown and the 90s) and I think a band would get the required song list and just want to kill themselves, whereas with a DJ she can sit down with him/her well in advance, give him the list of "must play songs" and the basics for the rest and let him roll ... at my own wedding, our first dance was pretty obscure and the band did a great job of learning it but they also played a TON of the songs we had on the "don't play these" list. Her wedding is going to be awesome but quite intimate. I think she's inviting 70 people which means it will be closer to 60 when all is said and done. It's at a fantastic venue (we actually saw it on another wedding show, "I Want THAT Wedding") but I don't think there's any way it's big enough for a band to set up! Little Snappy is a super-low-key bride-to-be. Definitely not a bridezilla. No wedding party, no color scheme (green for greenery at the venue and beige for wine barrels LOL), no horah, no cake smoosh. No cake, actually (churro ice cream sandwiches). No wedding gown (we'll go shopping for perhaps a wedding jumpsuit when we go out to visit in January). But full open bar and great food. Instead of a father-daughter dance, they are going to play and sing a duet (he on keyboard, she on guitar). Not sure what song yet but willing to guess it will be sentimental enough there won't be a dry eye on this mom who will not wear mascara.
  12. So I'm guessing, after all of our pondering, that the two-hour show with the dance team did NOT air after all ... I actually was kinda sorta looking forward to it because a dance team showdown seemed to hold the promise of tons of snarkworthy crap! So instead I'm continuing to tape old episodes and watch a few a night or until I fall asleep ... doing shots every time someone says "you can tell how much they love each other" (which often leads to that early sleep). Mr. Snappy is a musician who has played more than his share of weddings (and we may agree to disagree -- though he just flat-out disagrees -- about whether weddings are better with DJs or live bands (my opinion is "it depends", his is "BANDS ARE ALWAYS BETTER BECAUSE THEY PAY OUR BILLS AND LIVE MUSIC IS BETTER THAN DJs" ... that said, Little Snappy is having a DJ so she and Mr. Future Snappy Son-In-Law can choose the music they love, aka Motown and 90s pop). The point I was getting to here (and there is one!) is that with him playing a wedding or two every weekend and having been working musician for 50 years and Little Snappy working in the music business in licensing/publishing, we get a kick out of watching shows like this where they have to sync in "fakey fake" music for real songs because they don't have the rights to the real ones (or won't pay them), and figuring out "what song are they REALLY playing?" Last night was clearly "Lean On Me." (Can't remember name of episode but it was right outside of Philly though they called them "New Jersey brides," where the winner was named Laila and we both called BULLSH&T on her wedding costing only $35K (she was a bling-queen). I know he makes fun of my watching this show but I think last night's episode MAY have gotten him hooked (especially since we have the upcoming wedding of Casa Snappy)
  13. I think he's been honest in his confessionals from the get-go. And he's a pretty good-looking guy (especially on this show's scale). I wouldn't be surprised if other, less repulsive, women seek him out online to be their boy-toy. He may still get to America if this show hasn't put him in the "no-fly zone" with immigration officials. Angela is possibly the most yucky woman they've had on the show (Dan-yell may give her a run for her money but Dan-yell was just the epitome of pathetic while Angela is deluded and abusive) ... between her and Messy Mister Meester, they have really upped their villain game this season.
  14. I don't think it was obvious. I think it was supposed to be a shocker (yes, Catherine Keener is his sister, Frank Langella is his dad). Somewhat surprisingly, it was spoiled in the preview/review I read in the WaPo a day or two ago so I already knew this and I guess it being revealed in the first episode made it less of a spoiler but still ... I've never been a fan of Jim Carrey, I admit, but am intrigued by the concept of this show (and adore Langella and also Justin Kirk, who we see is the ex-wife's boyfriend) ... definitely willing to give it a few more episodes ... My husband caught that Kelly Cofield Park was the realtor (Kelly Cofield when she was on ILC and she married a later addition to the cast, Steve Park) but we both missed T'Keyah Crystal Keymah ... great catch! (BTW, if you're a fan of ILC, "Homey Don't Play That" is a GREAT book!)
  15. Just wondering: Do Filipino mail order brides come in manila envelopes? Asking for a friend.
  16. Thank you! I thought they were really cute too ... her husband was in the military, right? Or am I mixing them all up? I also loved the beach-themed wedding (I'm a sucker for starfish) and thought that bride (Jacque?) did a great job between her gown/jewelry and the decorations. I wasn't a big fan of the kinda bitchy one with the short bob but loved her dessert spread.
  17. Need help here (it's probably somewhere in this thread but hopefully someone remembers off the top of their head) ... watched a rerun last night (it was TiFauxed) of, I think, Volcano (I know Volcano is one of the ones I watched but not 100% sure it was the same one I'm asking about) ... I know one of the brides was pretty Nicole whom I adored (the one who hated the glass-clinking and I think was AmerAsian) ... and it cut off before they announced the winner or the destination ... can anyone tell me who won and where they went? They flashed the destination photo a few times and it looked very familiar but they didn't have the little "pay ad" in the corner.
  18. If that was a nose job she should sue the doctor LOL
  19. Just saw "dance team" episode is indeed showing on the 15th and my TiFaux is showing it in the guide now! Never been so happy to be wrong about something!
  20. I thought the bitter pissing and moaning about their having the same wedding gown was BS drama ... even if they'd been identical, without Added Sleeves (TM to whoever came up with the capitals!), WTF cares? The ONLY people who would be at both weddings other than the two brides will be the OTHER two brides (and I guess their husbands maybe?) ... Pick the gown you love and assume that there will be other brides somewhere in this world who have the same one. Big. Effing. Deal. To be in such a snit makes it seem like the competition is more important than being the most beautiful you you can be on Your! Big! Day! People will have the same main course (okay, almost EVERYONE will have the same main course if this series is any indication of menus), the same color scheme, the same venue ... DEAL WITH IT! In fact, let that inspire you to show you can wear it better LOL. It shows that at least one other bride thinks your gown is GORGEOUS. By the way, I would NEVER have recognized it was the same gown if Destiny with the Pepsodent smile and creepy Marie Osmond look hadn't mentioned with her little sneer that Holly had stolen her dress (and BTW I thought it was MUCH more beautiful unadorned and sleeveless than with those frumpy Added Sleeves).
  21. How many times did they replay the same shot of Darcey slicing the steak as if it was continuous (but still had the same number of slices on the buttttttcher block)? Of all the many many many cringeworthy moments in this episode nothing was more forced than that kitchen scene I ❤Momma Karine
  22. Where are you seeing that (she asked hopefully)? I do remember seeing it listed a while back but now I can't find it anywhere and the Facebook group said that it appeared all "new" episodes that had not yet run had all been pulled off ... as of last night, the "dance team" episode slated as the next new show was not on the TLC page or on TV Guide site. Hopefully they'll at least keep running and re-running the first 9 seasons of one-hour shows to give us our fix!
  23. THIS IS NOT SHOWING UP ON MY TIFAUX SCHEDULE ... This is a national emergency. ETA: Did a little nosing around and apparently ... dramatic pause ... they've simply yanked the show. No dance team. No nothing. It's off the air and there is nothing about it on the TLC site or anything. It was on the schedule/guide and now it's not and they're airing other shows in its place. We need to put our heads together here and figure out where we can kvetch and klatch and bitch and snark together now!!! You are my FRAMILY!
  24. I don't think so ... but it's possible, if he's been there for a while, that I might have met him before he was old enough to be one of the best-known ushers LOL! Have only been there that once, for our anniversary in 2014, in the last 10 years but we were there a lot in the mid-80s when we lived in Westchester and had time on our hands!
