Holy Hera... I am a child of the 80s. I grew up watching Rob Lowe, and I passed him over every time for my beloved Andrew McCarthy. That said, DAMN, that man has come into his own. He must be what, 55? Hotter than he was in his 20s. Damn. Daaaaamn! .

My irrational hatred of the moment is for some tablet/laptop/computer commercial. A very pretty woman of (possibly) mixed race talks about why she started some dumb fashion blog/vlog/whatever-cakes. She says "Growing up, I had no one who looked like me." Nothing more specific. That's it. No one who looked like her. I am guessing she means she had no one who looked like her as a role model/to look up to or whatever, but, not what she says. It gives me the impression that as an infant she was abducted by aliens and only recently returned. "No one looked like me! No one had two arms, two legs, hair, or even eyes ... It was horrible. No one even walked on two legs." I mean, bless, I get the idea - but the non-specificity of the advert just makes me nuts. I would think she had parents, and assuming she is talking about no one looking like her in hair or her skin color, I know a lot of people with that skin color. Something about it just bugs. She says it all whiny and sort of smugly on top of it. Grr.

Hey, Brat, I actually DID get a vehicle with a giant bow once. It was 2003 and I had (TMI) just gone through an ugly divorce with an abusive, bastard ex who sold my car and would not let me drive - anything anywhere - for over 6 years. (long, ugly story). So that Christmas - my 'Freedom" Christmas, my Da got me a 1989 Dodge Ram 5 speed pickup truck - the most beautiful, rusty, ratty old farm truck on planet earth! He even put a big red bow on it. It was the best present ever, and the most awesome, least 'husband' approved vehicle ever! It sure wasn't a BMW or a Lexus... but it was worth way, way more to me.

I get so annoyed at the Z in place of the letter S thing, I tune it out. Two Zs are even worse. I can't figure how you would pronounce it... Looks like hours. Here there is a child day care called "Success Kidz". Now I do not have a child, but you had better believe if I did, I would not take them to a daycare who can't even spell properly. Bless. I'm shocked someone didn't poke an apostrophe in there for good (well, bad) measure. We also have a local pest control company the has an ad that uses the tagline "Stop Z Bugs". That one is even more puzzling. Now the poor maligned Z is being used in place of the word 'the'?

Is this left handed comment code for what was upstream? Casey Moss is really coming into his own here - I see him becoming another Jensen Ackles in the future. He and BF (Chad) are remarkable actors - especially to be stuck on Daytime. Not that I want to lost them. Lani can exit stage left any day now - though with AZ (Nicole) nearly out we have a glut of single men with few eligible ladies.

I can't say enough good things about Marci Miller and her performance as Abby. New Abby indeed. Bless - could you imagine KM trying to handle the Ben is Back material. Ugh. MM is fan-freaking-tastic.

Today was the first day of Days that I have watche live - as it aired in over 10 years. I was that jazzed after Friday's (real) cliffhanger. I have to say, wee warts and all, thank you Ron! I think Days may just make it a bit longer. As someone who has watched (er, listened) since I was in the Womb, I must say I am really, really happy with the turn that Days has taken of late. Seeing the beloved vets Doug and Julie (even thought the latest writers tried to wreck them) not being horrible, and seeing the mistakes of the past writers (Killing Will most notably - among 1000 others) being righted, I am thrilled. I know a lot of hand waving will have to take place, but the last two (three ?) writers wrote beloved characters into the ground. If RC can fix it - I will be waving like a mad woman. My only gripes are Bonn-drienne still hanging around (come on, Adrienne should be front and center for Jackson...Sonny's wedding), Brady still being a cro-mag, and the writers allowing the always amazing AZ (Nicole) to leave - GRR, but all in all - I am very happy - and thankful - for the way Days is turning around. Well done all. As to why *everyone* has waited so long to address everything (Ben to show up, Sonny to talk about Will, blah, blah, whatever cakes) it's because the last f____ing writer refused to even acknowledge history, let alone address it. *see hand-waving note above.

Me too! I felt bad - feeling bad for Andre (who I still like to think of as T'andre) - it was beyond shitty how Chad & the guys treated him. I know the evening was a big snooze, but they could have at least had dinner with the poor bastard before bailing. Jerks. Help me out here guys, when EJ was still alive was it Andre or Tony who rode into the DiMansion on a horse? I can still see Stefano's face. Snort.

Billy Flynn and Lauren Koslow both have chemistry with everybody, everything, and the damn lamps. Those two are the Days' MVPs in my opinion. Slightly OT - finally got Netflix and was able to see Blake Berris' (ex Nick Fallon - a legacy character who was slaughtered by the writing regime of the day: cough : sorry, I digress) - finally saw his amazing movie "House of last things". I know I am bit behind the curve, but if you loved BB as Nick - it is an amazing movie. Labeled 'horror' for lack of a better genre bucket to stick it in, but it's a quiet, thoughtful, smart, beautiful movie. BB is a-flipping-mazing in it. Must see.

So my opinions about the new writer(s): THE GOOD -I am thrilled that vets like Doug and Julie are finally being treated with respect. They are soap royalty. Doug got to give a bit of advice to Eric, and Julie was not even a bit of a harpy. Thank you Ron! This Julie of the past few years is NOT the Julie I grew up watching. -Hattie and Mar were hysterical. DHer did a really good job with Hattie in the scenes with Hope and the police station scenes. I do wish Hope would have given her some money, bought her a plane ticket to Downtown Europe, and let her walk. Damn Hope - you owe her your LIFE. Not half the tab from dinner. Sheesh. Twat. -Kate. Oh Kate. LK is always a delight. I swear I could watch an hour of her doing nothing but pecking at a fruit cup. Something about her - even the way she eats - the way she holds her fork..,. is just so... elegant. -John going gray: damn, he looks 20 years younger. DHe and DHer seem to be having a lot more fun. Honestly it seems everyone is enjoying the new regime. -I am liking the more relaxed Eli. Maybe Gabi is bringing out the best in him. I have noticed GB frequently brings out the best in her co-stars. She and Kate both just sparkle. It doesn't hut that GB is so damn pretty. And don't even get me started on the hair. That hair... Oh... Jealous... Jealousy... flames... flames out of the sides of my face... -Gabi being concerned about Drunk! Lucas! around Ari. Furthermore, Drunk! Lucas calling everyone on their BS. -Likable Abby playing referee in the Days version of Family Feud. No way could the Kangaroo have pulled off the nuanced performances that MM has given. -Even Rafe and Hope are almost bearable -Gabi showing adorable Ari how to be a flower girl. You could see in CB's eyes how conflicted she is because of all of the wedding ramifications, but she is really a natural with that kid. -Nicole being allowed to be happy for 2.25 episodes. My girl deserves nice things before she (sniffle) leaves Salem. (disclaimer: see note under: the bad). Still I have to wonder, what the hell happened to Pookie??? -Someone mentioned upstream that Valerie has the best, kindest voice. Must agree. (sorry to not remember who said that - catching up) -Humor: have to love some of the throw-away funny lines (not from Bonnie) but just in general - seems there is a bit more levity in Salem. THE BAD: -Jennifer's hair. -Lucas and Brady both falling off the wagon. Though Lucas actually falling was a bit funny. -No Anne waiting in the wings to seduce a drunk Lucas. Come on, show! -Bonnie. Ugh. I find myself feeling embarrassed for JE. That shit is hard to watch. -Brady: Oh Goodie. Cro-Mag Brady is back. I swear, he is one step from clubbing Nic over the noggin and dragging her back to his cave. Dickhead. I can see why she subtly plays Nicole as still having a thing for Eric - at least he has evolved past the Paleolithic Era. I haven't seen more than one uninterrupted show per week since January. This week has been hurricane relief fundraisers, Trump's PC about the hurricane, and some local nonsense about a stolen car that could have waited for... well, forever, but they seemed to think it was 'Breaking News'

Another week of Days... more news breaks, interruptions, and press conferences. I swear I have not seen a full episode of Days since Dump... Trump was elected. This week was storms, eclipse, and local nonsense, but still. Friday's episode... Gabi is breaking my heart. She has grown into such a good actress, and just lovely. Her talk with Sonny gave me a wee allergy attack. Sniffle. 100% completely and utterly over the doppelganger nonsense. So now we have rape by proxy as a plotline again. Fantastic! Poor Lucas. Thrown off the wagon and then sleeping with a stranger who he thinks is his love - all in the same week. Good to see the new writers like BD. P'tooey.

I was so excited for a new head writer, but I have to admit I am frightened for the level of insta-camp already with the addition of Hattie. Now we have Bonnie, ED returning as (possibly) Susan, Jack, and Vivian. I love LS, have since Santa Barbara, but it really looks like all of these characters have a strong leaning toward 'comedic' storylines. While I love a good funny story on soaps - once in a while - this looks like it may get overwhelming fast. Has anyone considered that Tyler Christopher may be cast as Phillip? I adored JKJ and would love to see him back. The proposed pairings of JJ & Chad with Gabi/Abby, Lani & Eli take up all of the ladies on canvas (except for Claire). Pretty sure if Jack does come back he will (eventually) be with Jen. Adrienne and Justin will probably be back together... We desperately need more 30-40 something females on canvas. With my beloved AZ leaving, and TC arriving we are going to have Eric, Brady, TC, Lucas... and others I am probably forgetting - there are no eligible ladies on canvas fro any of them. Odd. We need to introduce a couple of good, strong females who are not related to 7/8th of Salem.

I tape Days of Our Lives each day and will sit on Sunday morning and catch up. Seems every other commercial is a diaper commercial - the one that is currently in heavy rotation is the "Let's get this Potty started" song. I can't get to the remote fast enough. The other one has some tone deaf woman squalling "we all need a hug in the morning". Gah. Granted I am not a kid - person, but these are beyond annoying.
