  1. Around 20 years ago a temp agency refused to take me on because I tested as an introvert on a personality test. My friend and I were just discussing the bias against introverts in the workplace. I can be friendly and I'm a good public speaker, but I don't like mindless chatter and I need my alone time. Anyway, as many of you know, I lost my job last fall. I'm temping while looking for another job. I just finished a front desk job at a local school. The recruiter I'm working with mentioned another front desk job. I'm not sure I want to do this type of assignment again considering its on a bigger scale and in the corporate realm.
  2. Marc Anthony got married...to a 23 year old. He's 54.
  3. She is also very anti-vac and got Covid and shingles at the same time. On-topic: Did anyone see the Jinger interview on Good Morning America this morning?
  4. I watched it and it broke my heart. The way Trye called out for his mother just gutted me.
  5. This episode re-aired last night and during the egg drop, I wondered, "With the high price of eggs these days, how can Abbott Elementary afford them?" 😜
  6. Same. I do see similarities between me and Jeanine.
  7. I binged watched Mad Men a few years ago and swooned over the fashion. On-topic: I'm shocked how much I like Alyssa. She doesn't get on my nerves like Bitsy, Candace Cameron Burd, Jedediah Bila, and the Princess of Arizona.
  8. The Daily Kos has discovered Lori Alexander. https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2023/1/22/2148541/-Christianist-blogger-wags-finger-at-Jinger-Duggar-Vuolo-for-opening-up-about-her-abusive-childhood
  9. I thought I'd be a Melissa, too. We're around the same age, redheads, and snarky AF.
  10. So I'm not the only one familiar with Lori Alexander. Sadly, you can't cast her off as some silly woman. She's truly dangerous. And if you ask me, Ma and Pa Duggar deserve to be thrown under a fleet of buses. I definitely want to read Jinger's book. I hope my local library gets it.
  11. Which Abbott Elementary character are you? https://www.bleacherbreaker.com/trending/class-is-in-session-for-this-abbott-elementary-personality-quiz/?fbclid=IwAR2dVEAe3ZVVaVm-cSQiSpAcuYTd-h3AIx9D3tF1FW-2ig5Q-JHDkkB7GvI&chrome=1 FYI: I'm a tall Janine Teagues.
  12. I loved how Janine went into those ribs with such gusto.
  13. One fundie blogger is angry that Jinger threw Jim Bob and Michelle "under the bus." https://thetransformedwife.com/jinger-duggar-threw-her-parents-under-the-bus/
  14. I almost did an Ava, and nearly fell out of my chair when Mr. Johnson said, "This cat believes in God?" after Jacob claimed the cat was a pescatarian. And Mr. Johnson's tears when he and Jacob had to give Milton back? Oh, I felt all the feels. I hope Melissa's bad impressions is a running gag like Barbara mixing up celebrities' names. Jacob now knows Gregory is all woodgie-coo over Janine. I wonder how this will play out? Having been in a relationship for ages with Tariq and probably not schooled on first date etiquette by her mom, I'm not surprised to see eating those ribs while on her date with Maurice. Another thing I noticed? How Janine (well, Quinta actually) is so tiny, she barely makes it over the table. I noticed this when she was on the date and in the teacher lunch room. And Ava was on fire this episode. As obnoxious as she can be, she does know how to hustle, and I thought she showed a sweet moment when she gave Henry a new pair of paints, from her own exclusive line, of course. And she had some of the best lines of this episode as many of you have mentioned. The Franklin Institute sounds awesome. I love how Abbott Elementary gives shout outs to things near and dear to Philadelphia.
  15. I can't wait to see the cat. Ava better not hurt it.
  16. I laughed when Gregory told his student, "Jordan, peel that off your face." Jordan, peel-Jordan Peele? Or am I looking to deeply into it?
  17. I think I did a "Gregory Look" at my TV when Janine called herself the tall Simone Biles.
  18. Being a massive reader and lover of books (hence, my user name), I was all about this episode. I have fond memories of getting into reading in elementary school, getting my first library card, and books like Curious George, the Berenstain Bears, and The Box Car Children. One of the highlights of my education was getting my books from Scholastic. But first, I was totally bummed Janine's class did not win the Read-a-Thon. She was so encouraging of her students and I loved her little reading forts. But damn, can't Janine ever be victorious? I know Quinta doesn't want her character to be a "Mary Sue" but let Janine have her winning moments. And though, Melissa can be sarcastic and snarky, I loved how tender, patient, and empathetic she was with Maya, and Maya's reading struggles. I adore how Abbott Elementary emphasizes how teachers truly care about their students, especially in an age where teachers, and education (especially public schools) are so bashed.
  19. I just finished "Funny Girl" by Nick Hornby and it was such a disappointment. He committed the sin of telling not showing. I expected so much more.
  20. This book is on my Christmas wish list, too. I hope I get it.
  21. Welk, he did go outside in the cold without a jacket. Hypothermia isn't fun.
  22. I don't need to watch CME. All over your recaps, opinions, and thoughts are going to be much more entertaining.
  23. I'm currently reading "Back Talk" a collection of short stories by Danielle Lazarin. It's pretty good so far. And I just finished "The Overnight Socialite" by Bridir Clark. It's a modern take on Pygmalion/My Fair Lady. It was a fun and frothy read. I really liked it.
