Although they make a big deal out of how little money they have, I'm pretty sure they must have some money. When we don't see them barter for something, like pizza or junk from scrap yards, I bet that's because they paid cash. The film crew isn't really at their disposal, although they'd have to come through in a pinch, as they did when the boys were lost and the family asked the crew to call Search and Rescue. If the boat hadn't started, some of the crew might have gone back to film the parents getting all anxious and we wouldn't be supposed to know that they'd actually told them the kids were spending the night in Hoonah.
crazycatchick, you're not alone. I cringe whenever Ami talks about "grandbabies" and the term is definitely part of it.
I wasn't surprised to see Noah going with the others to entertain the girls. The fact that he's interested in someone doesn't mean he has to stop being sociable. He has kind of taken himself out of the running for them, as has Bear, conveniently making it only three brothers who need girlfriends. I'd be surprised if we ever saw the girls again, but I have to hand it to them for being willing to run that ridiculous obstacle course. I hope they got paid extra for that. And call me cynical, but I don't believed they rowed their little canoe all the way from town for that visit. I bet the deal was, "It's $x extra for each obstacle you complete, plus $X if you bring your own gun. And we take you and the canoe within camera range of the island, drop you off and pick you up."
