  1. Kyle called Lindsay not just a bitch but also an asshole and said she was psycho. So, all the years she has been Kyle's friend, and he goes off on her in a huge, public rant. Neither of them has the higher ground here. Based on the interactions we've seen Carl have with multiple people, I don't believe he ever had any balls.
  2. Anthony and your friend are both neurodivergent. Their brains work differently from those of neurotypical people, but not all neurodivergent people think or act in the same way. For instance, your OCD friend is a neat freak, mine has no problem with a mess. If Anthony says his dyslexia contributes to any particular situation, I believe him.
  3. I agree. I think it was Darlene who talked about how well Tammy did in school. Since the Mother's Day tea, I've thought Amy was smarter than she lets on. At the tea party, she let slip some words and concepts that weren't consistent with her dim bulb persona. I'm also not buying the constant repetition of We Are Fam-i-ly. I doubt they went on family vacations or engaged in activities other than an occasional meal prior to the show. I'm guessing Amanda and Misty have never been as involved with Tammy and Amy as the show now portrays. In the first season, we saw Chris interact with them, but Amanda and Misty made just some cameo appearances. I suspect what we're seeing now is not love of family but love of Bravo checks.
  4. IKR? So annoying and no fun. It looks like Sam, Mya, and Chris, the guy no one can remember, will be friends of. The two guys in the car together in the video are new but unconfirmed, Jesse Solomon and West Wilson. Which ‘Summer House’ Cast Members Are Returning for Season 8?
  5. Of course, the first thing any mother would ask when meeting a group of her child's friends is who is interested in whom. She looked as much like an ass as her son proved himself to be. I hope production told her to ask stupid questions. The dad outfoxed them and was actually reasonable, something I wasn't expecting. I have no idea why Rhylee and Jason were even there. Judging from what they contributed, neither did they. Do these people know what the word "après" means? Or have we just appropriated and condensed the term the way we did with "ensuite"? Danielle remains batshit crazy and takes rude and incomprehensible to new heights. On the other hand, all of these people get out of bed and get dressed every day, so there's that.
  6. There was an exchange during the party between Kory and a female guest that I'm not sure about. She said if he opened a gym in her town she would go there. I think he replied something like, "You wouldn't be invited." Can anybody say if that's what he said? Because if he was negging her, what tiny amount of tolerance I had for him is gone. I do not need to see men peeing. Ever. Amanda is such a great friend. "Now that I'm married and you're not, my perspective has changed. Before I can give you the wrong answer to a question with an obvious right answer I have to put myself in your unmarried head space, because I'm married and you're not." I mean, Danielle is unhinged but she wasn't wrong there. If Austen is the Honda Civic of male attractiveness, what's Schwartz? The Kia Soul? And there he was not wanting to call Katie Flood by her first name because it would be disrespectful to his ex-wife. That ship has sailed. One of the reasons I liked the first seasons of Summer House was because the cast all had legitimate connections to each other, even if some were small. Here they know each other because they work for Bravo. It's like Fred from Accounting and Jim from Maintenance at a regular business. Each knows who the other is but they're not getting together after work. This is now Bravo House and it's a combination of boring and annoying.
  7. Apparently, winter shouldn't be fun, at least for viewers. I agree that it's an odd mix of people. And right off the bat, they're planning hookups and getting drunk. Pay attention, Bravo, about who sleeps with whom: we. don't. care. The only new additions I've seen before are Jordan, Alex, and Malia. Does Jordan give off some vibe I can't understand? To me, it doesn't seem like she's inviting interaction, yet the two idiots tried to hit on her like she was being all come hither. I used to like Alex, but not now. On his season of BD, he successfully hid the fact that he's an asshole douchebag. I stopped watching BD Med because of Malia and Sandy. Sorry to see them again. Kory, the fact that you haven't put a name on your situation doesn't mean you don't have a commitment. Oh, look, Danielle is concerned about a relationship that's none of her business. On the other hand, no Paige, Sierra, Craig, or Austin. Win.
  8. Wait, what? Razvan is a controlling asshole who charmed sweet, innocent Amanda until he got sex, then dumped her? Did Riley watch the show? I'll give him props for yelling out the message to Tyray's catfish. Other than that Riley can STFU. Which, no matter how bad they were, would have been better than the ones Shaun asked. So much this. Amanda is a human glacier. This is my first season watching this show and I came in in the middle. Maybe that's why I like Jasmine and I kind of get why Gino is attracted to her. I enjoyed her in the Tell All. I also enjoyed Statler and wanted to slap Dempsey. This is a complete reversal for me and I'm not happy about it. Cleo. Oh, honey.
  9. In 1968 Glenn was stationed in Pensacola prior to being sent to Japan. While in Florida he met and dated Jackie. As he was being deployed to Japan Jackie told him she was pregnant. I don't think you can ask the Marines to wait a couple more days so you can marry your pregnant girlfriend, so he shipped out. Pregnancies outside of marriage were still a big deal in 1968. Jackie's mom was upset. Jackie went to a home and the baby (Angie) was adopted. By the time Angie found out about Jackie, Jackie had died. Babs knew about Angie, but had the stroke before knowing she'd found Glenn. I thought the party was a bad idea until I saw Glenn's reaction. He genuinely seemed to be enjoying it. We teach men to repress their feelings and Glenn is no exception. I doubt he's had much chance to just talk about Babs. When he saw the wedding couple he lit up and shared a memory of that day. Regardless of how someone feels about her own wedding dress, Babs' dress did a lot more good at the party than it would have if it remained in the box. They, meaning production and the family, were in a tough spot for this season. Show too much about Babs and be accused of exploiting her, show too little and be criticized for forgetting about her. As bad as I feel for these folks, I don't find their grief entertaining and this episode bored me.
  10. The CFDA guy talked about branding, merchandising, and the like. The older designers already had these things established. Not that they couldn't have used the help, but this sounded like a program planned for someone getting started in the industry. Brittany doesn't do couture. As much as the judges loved her work, and she is good, the show wants to be part of the couture, fashion is art mystique. The finale was as good as it was going to get for her. If it were up to me, it would be minus all of them. I wanted to slap Nina last week when she asked to see a fun, laughing Laurence. Nina has been sour for 19 years. Suddenly she became kind and tolerant, so it was fine for her to be critical of someone as sour as she was. Nope. Elaine is an intelligent woman who acts like an ass. Brandon can be amusing sometimes, but mostly he's just kind of bitchy. And his little anus-shaped mouth is kind of creepy. It would be nice to have a whole new spin on judging. They want this show to be about fashion as art, so one judge should be an actual artist, someone who knows about color theory, proportion, and so on. Another judge would be someone who currently does garment construction, not someone who used to do it before he became famous, so maybe the supervisor of a designer's workroom. The third would be a fashion event planner, someone who knows how garments should look walking down the runway, in various lights, that sort of thing. Then they could have as guests all the stupid people whose only contribution to the judging would be "I'd wear that" and we could safely ignore them.
  11. People said all season that this was being set up for a Bishme win. I thought it was possible, but didn't want to believe it. But after the designers talked to the Fashion Institute guy, I believed. That part of the prize was obviously for a young up-and-comer, so Laurence was out. Brittany was never going to win because, as she herself said, she doesn't do couture. I thought some of Bishme's pieces were lovely but the big shoulders and the baseball cap veils were ridiculous. Laurence showed range and talent, but the fix was in. Boo, PR.
  12. Lan at least is making the most of her appearance on the show. She's gotten pledges of almost 3X her Kickstarter goal.
  13. Tzarina was all about "girl code" when Jaime was interested in Culver. But it looks like the code doesn't apply to Tzarina herself. I'm going with learned to keep it under wraps. He's working hard at being charming, both to the camera and to gullible (or thirsty for camera time) Tzarina.
  14. I like Lindsay, so I do feel bad for her. After seeing the reactions of other posters, I had to stop and think how I would feel if it was, say, Paige. At first, I'd be gleeful because I don't like Paige, but then I'd feel bad for her. I'd have sympathy for almost anyone who got dumped, especially on national television. However, I'm suspicious of any reality TV couple's relationship drama, so I'm expecting this story to continue to play out.
  15. Elaine was wearing a variation of the criss cross top Prajjé invented. That's two different situations, though. Christian had free reign, more money, and more time to design for Leslie Jones. Most of these designers are having to do something very unfamiliar while under a lot of pressure. I'm thinking a designer winning with a garment on a plus size model hasn't happened, unless it was a challenge with all larger models. I wasn't familiar with Rami's work, but I'm enjoying seeing it. I knew we'd be seeing him for a while once Christian saved him. Every designer who was saved by either Christian or Tim Gunn survived until at least the episode before the finale. Some made the finale and one won.
  16. Joao is the second officer. We met the first officer and the engineer in the first episode. They're actual yachties, so we'll likely never see them again.
  17. People keep getting this confused. It's not so. 51 minds is the production company for all Below Deck shows except Adventure.
  18. While I was pleased and relieved to see sexual assault finally handled appropriately by Bravo/51 Minds, my cynical self believes it was just that the situation with Luke was so egregious that's all they could do. Then once they'd been forced to deal with Luke they were on the hook for dealing with Laura, too. Both of them should have been held accountable for their actions long before things went as far as they did. I suspect they had a (possibly different) firing planned, and Joao lined up, before this happened. For me, how Joao is presented is going to be a proof in the pudding situation for Bravo and production's commitment to cast safety. I don't believe any of the outings on shows like this are a surprise to the other people at whatever the venue is. I think the venue notifies patrons that a show will be happening. Even if they didn't, the light, sound, and video people would show up long before the cast, plus there would be someone wanting releases signed. According to Kate Chastain, the tips are real: "On a yacht of that size, [a good tip] would be $5,000 a person, for seven days of work," she reveals. "Five grand a crew member, usually. Our charters are a little bit shorter, just so we can make the show, [but] everything else is exactly the same. So, it's prorated. We usually get around $2,500, $2,000. Anything less than $1,000 would be depressing, which sounds crazy, doesn't it?" Kate says there is one part of the tip process seen on the show that might just be for TV -- how the tip is delivered. On the show, the crew stands in line to send off the guests, with the primary charter guest handing over an envelope of cash to Captain Lee. Kate notes that the lineup is standard, but the envelope handoff isn’t. "There's always a lineup, just 'cause it's polite," she says. "Like, even in Downton Abbey, they all line up. So, I think it's a tradition that’s been around for hundreds of years, but sometimes, I think, instead of traveling with so much cash, they wire the money."
  19. The designer whose client was closest in looks to a conventional model won. This never happens. I'm stunned. My biggest complaint about the uniforms for the female interior workers on all the Below Deck shows is that they're ridiculously short for a work situation. The women who work on deck or in the kitchen wear shorts that are a functional, professional looking length. The stews wear tiny skorts and the designers apparently thought their outfits needed to be even more tiny. Those very short garments looked tacky with heels, especially since they mostly don't wear shoes on the job. Rami was smart to put his client in flats. Except for the captain, the men on these shows, including male stews, wear shorts. I hope the long pants were client requests, although, like the comments about the kimono style, I'm afraid it was an unconscious bias. I had a chuckle at Brandon and Nina thinking black was a great color for Colin. He's an engineer, not a mechanic. This season he handled two major engine disasters without a single smudge on his uniform. As much as I don't want to hear the judges' comments during the runway, I also don't want to hear the designers'. "Yeah, work it" and "Go, girl" aren't that enlightening. The camera leaves the garments and goes to the designers when this happens. I already know what the designers look like. Ever since some of the other designers piled on Anna because of a decision the judges made I've been on her side. I was surprised that she responded to Gary but I agree that she was letting her hair down and having fun. We didn't see anything to suggest they did more than flirt and if she was comfortable with something her husband eventually would see then so am I. I suspect what Anna projects that people don't like is more culture than personality flaw, plus the fact that English is her second language. It's Brittany and her finger snapping I want to go. Just clap like everybody else. Also, enough with the top stitching.
  20. We never saw Gary act like a man in a relationship and be faithful. When Daisy said she was with Colin and Gary said he was with Mads that should have been the end of it. But despite proclaiming that he wanted a real relationship with Mads, Gary pursued Daisy. Gary's choice; Gary's responsibility. Agreed. Sad to say it will only happen when other men criticize the behavior. Gary didn't listen to Daisy when she said no. Smiling, laughing, drunk or nervously giggling when someone says no doesn't magically turn it into yes, but there were no consequences for Gary when he ignored Daisy's objections. What would have stopped the pursuit was a "not cool, bro" from Colin. Before this season I would have said that was exactly the kind of thing Colin would do. This season? Feet of clay.
  21. A second show during which Andy led a pile-on on a woman because she enjoys sex. And this time Glenn jumped in to say tsk tsk to Gary but that the real problem was that Daisy didn't handle him better. WTF. Daisy was in a no win situation. Glenn (and his girlfriend) thought all she had to do was be more forceful in discouraging Gary and the problem would have been solved. That's naive. Gary, like too many men, unconsciously believes he has a right to women's bodies. We know Gary is a petulant, selfish brat. If Daisy had denied him, he would have mocked her and accused her of having no sense of humor or complained about her to anyone who would listen, including Glen, or sulked and made passive-aggressive comments about her. The one thing he wouldn't have been was gracious and trying to work with him would have been a nightmare. We've almost five years out from MeToo and people are still expecting women to be responsible for men's actions and feelings. It's sad and frustrating. And regardless of how diplomatic Daisy was trying to be last week when answering the question about Glenn and Gary's friendship, she was wrong. Glenn is very biased in favor of Gary. When a department head's staff say they're better off without him and we can see why, that's bad management. Glenn should have addressed that. He didn't, because he himself is a bad manager.
  22. I got braces when I was around Whitney's age. It was purely for cosmetic reasons; I was tired of getting lipstick on my front teeth. I had absolutely no qualms about doing it for vanity's sake. In fact, I would encourage anyone who wanted to do it for that reason to go for it. Even though I had no other dental issues, my dentist was delighted with my decision. He wasn't an orthodontist, so there was no profit motive. It was because he knew that in the long run having the procedure would significantly increase the liklihood of me keeping my own teeth for the rest of my life. Regardless of what drove Whitney's decision, she's improved her dental health and most likely her self confidence, so good for her.
  23. I'm totally confused about how Gary attracts women. Even if someone hadn't seen his behavior on this show neither his personality nor appearance are appealing. I dunno, maybe he wears people down with his persistence. Mads, on the other hand, is nice-looking and people are willing to have an extended conversation with her without having to be physically backed into a corner. I respect her for being sex-positive and open about it. She has as much right to want casual sex as any man and she's better at getting it than 50% of her male co-workers.
