  1. If they reconcile, I would consider this tv series a complete failure.
  2. Louis CK isn't trolling. I actually don't think Louis gives a shit about the internet. This is the problem with television right now. We're in probably the best age of tv because there's a lot of room for all sorts of shows, and even more now that netflix has proved original content can be delivered by different platforms. But watching the show isn't enough anymore. TPTBs feel the need to go online and explain every little thing about an episode or bloggers have to split hairs and dissect everything so they have something to write about and this means seeing things that just aren't there. True Detective was a perfect case study of this. Viewers obsessing over the color of a dress. At the end of the series, TPTBs (to their credit didn't say much during the run of the show) were dumbfounded that so many people thought there would be some supernatural element involved in the conclusion. People don't just watch a show anymore and miss the context as a result. Of course, I have no problem talking about a show online like this, but there's a critical threshold wherein you get to this level. Louis has literally total control over the show and its content. He's doing what he wants. This year he's trying something different. Whether it works or not is a legit discussion. But he's not doing it to troll the internet. This is absolute drivel and garbage. If you want to use Twitter and FB (and here) to enhance your viewing experience, then that's great. It's not on Louis to be aware of how people watch tv shows and then adjust how he makes his show accordingly. If you're a TPTB on a show and you're using social media as a crutch (*coughMentalistcough*) then you have a shitty show and you're doing it wrong. WTF does Louis CK care how people watch his show? And why should he?
  3. It better not be an hallucination because that would be a massive massive cop out. Brona might want to stick around for some crazy kinky threeways then.
  4. I've yet to hear an answer to this question. Climate denier aren't denying warming or that there's more carbon in the atmosphere, just that man-made activities aren't contributing to it. And that the earth was warmer a long time ago. Yes, it was. But we weren't there. We won't be able to literally exist if this gets out of hand. So why not try to do something about it just in case?
  5. As much as I enjoyed this season, Lorenzo and DaVinci together are really good and I missed that. Clearly, the BoL isn't nearly as much trouble as its worth, so I hope when it is found that it's a total letdown for everyone. I mean, unless it's got plans for a nuclear weapon and where to find uranium, I can't imagine it's got more knowledge or is more dangerous than DaVinci. Ooooohhhh, ffs, I just got it. DaVinci is the book of leaves. Duh. Riaro is pretty smart so I'm surprised that he didn't figure out what they wanted him to say. I'm going to chalk it up to him being suicidal and depressed. I hope he's not going to be some sycophant to these jokers. Shit, the Medicis are *broke*. Yay! Your the new leader of Florence. Now pay me! My name is Niccolo Machiavelli and my wallet is the one that says bad mother fucker on it. His plan was rather Machiavellian, to forge the document. I liked how Vanessa was quick to pick up on it. I don't think the captain really bought it, but really figured it was best to stfu and not push it. He's probably figuring Machiavelli is probably a smart guy to have around. I liked how once Lorenzo knew Florence was liberated, he was like, "ok, fuck off." And when Alfonso threw his dick on the table (proverbially), Lorenzo disarmed him and had the blade to his throat in like 3 seconds. And later on, when DaVinci shushed him! Not to mention that the pope came around immediately once he saw how useless Alfonso was. Honestly, I didn't think DaVinci's plan was that genius. The city was set in the narrow-necked harbor for that very reason. Granted the plan to build the cannon turret was impressive, and then to invent grenades. I figure he shoots the lead ship and hopes that the flanking ship can catch up to rescue. The lead ship is carrying the sultan's son, so I'd think if it was sinking, the other two would hustle over to assist. It actually works out because then, there's the three ships clogging the neck. Or let them in and shoot the next one. Surely, the 500 soldiers can take on the one ship company.
  6. If he doesn't have memories of what he does as a werewolf, then he probably wouldn't react to the play. They were pretty heavy with the wolf motif at the end of the episode too. Jekyll willingly took a potion too. It seems like Chandler is turning wolf and has no control over it.
  7. Bill Clinton was a long term politician and known policy wonk, so the baseball guy wouldn't be modeled after him. I think he was just the folksy, plain talking outsider taking advantage of the usual dissatisfaction with established politicians. He didn't really say much past baseball metaphors except when he was copping to the affair. None of the really did. Selina at least had some policy statement prepared with the 3 Rs. The baseball guy is going to whither when pressed with specific questions on policy issues. The way it's looking now, I think only Maddox is credible besides Selina if he can bounce back.
  8. I'm also sure that Louie CK knows this isn't acceptable behavior, so I'm interested in seeing where this goes. It's creepy that his episode, which was produced probably several months ago at the least, aired nearly on the heels of the shitstain in Santa Barbara. With nearly the same justification; I'm taking control now. So does Pam let him off the hook or what? I mean, that's sexual assault.
  9. I'm surprised Janet was losing her cool. I mean I know it was a bad hurricane, but she seemed really scared. I liked the the whole story. It meant to me that even though you're older and have kids, and baggage, it doesn't mean you still can't have something. Although yeah, I'd be studying Hungarian every day. I mean, come on.
  10. I don't think DeNiro is really caring about selling the picture. He made it, he's proud of it, it's out there for whomever is interested. Part of the problem is that the police just don't have the authority to take people's guns away if they're acting fishy. There's a new CA bill that's going to make it a little easier for police to obtain warrants to do just that. Right now, just because you're ranting on youtube, doesn't really amount to much. But with this, I think, it allows the police a little more latitude. Honestly, the 'there isn't anything we can ever do about this ever at all' assessment is flat out cowardly. This is the only issue that seems to have been framed in this all or nothing. We'll never reduce the risk of gun incidents to zero so therefore we can't ever do anything to fix it. Really? Seat belts don't reduce injuries from car accidents to zero, but we have them. If 90% of people favored a gun control law, even though it would reduce risk by only a little bit, surely a lot of those people were gun owners, so it's not like there isn't some agreement. The bottom line is, these politicians are far more concerned with keeping their jobs than actually doing something. One person with some clout, just one, needs to stand up and call out everyone's BS. That anti-vac lady is one of the most ignorant people I've ever seen. What does she mean that there are "toxins"? Just because you don't believe in something doesn't mean it isn't. I did like how TDS pointed out that this idiocy isn't really associated with a political position and it's across the board. Unfortunately, I think the doctor is right: some kids are going to have to die from an *easily preventable* disease. I like how this is called 'anti-science.' It's actually ignorance and stupidity.
  11. She certainly had a right to be pissed, but it's not like Kent arbitrarily canceled the meeting for no reason. The trip was hectic and chaotic and lots of times those things happened. Sue is a tough customer, but I don't think she'd be that petty with Kent. Their plot is just totally separate from everything else on the show. When they walked into the bar to meet everyone after Amy's dinner. Where were they? Did they go out to grab a bite? I'd love to watch an entire episode strictly from their POV.
  12. I read Frankenstein in high school. I have read Dorian Gray like maybe 10 years ago. I actually don't read horror, but I like watching it on tv. Same thing with Dickens. I can't get through two pages of it, but if there's a miniseries, it's appointment tv for me. Except Christmas Carol. I can't stand it.
  13. He wasn't like that in the book. Wasn't he self-educated? (As he was on the show). And I thought he was living in someone's barn in France. He wasn't an asshole like this.
  14. However, after 12 episodes, I don't think someone who is a denier is tuning in going, "oh I've changed my mind now," unfortunately. I think this is actually a really good episode to show in a junior high science class though. Which is probably the point of the series: get young people interested in how science works.
  15. Well, there was the joke to the daughter: That's what you'll look like when you become a boy. As I did say previously, it's legit that the press would run with the lesbian angle, so yes they were commenting on that too. Everyone knows Chung's story is BS, right? I'm surprised no one calls him out on it.
  16. Well, it's not like TPTB don't have a lot of source material to draw on. The debate field for the last election was wide and there were a lot of primary debates. I am *dying* to know why Kent and Sue are on the outs!
  17. The show said, "Check me out, I'm kind of cool." I said, "Ok, not bad. I'll stick with it for a few episodes" So, tonight I was like, "why is Chandler charging at Dorian like that? What is he going to make out with him, heh. What the! heeeee!" Then the show said, "Come get some." I'm all for slash, because really, what's a good genre show without some slash? I wouldn't have called that in a million years. Well played, Penelope. While I'm all for a decadent orgy, and who isn't really? If I was hanging out with Dorian in the portrait room, I think it would freak me out while I'd be trying to get my freak on. There's just so many of them. I don't have a problem with the actor playing Dorian being so boyish and smooth-bodied because it brings sort of an androgynous look, which I think fits. But his hair is just shit. He looks like he's ready for his cameo on Friends with that center part. I am doubly pleased that Van Helsing popped up when I asked about him last week. I have to agree that Chandler must be the wolf. Between the play and the dog killing the rats, then last week. I do wonder if he actually knows it. Does he just black out? That would be interesting. First of all, I'm stealing this. Second, yes. He's being a pissy bitch. Hey, Victor, you created him. You don't like him? Too bad. He's not going away anytime soon, so deal with it. Someone speculated in another episode thread that Brona is going to be the Bride, and this makes sense. She was in a bad way after the theatre (I used the olde tymey spelling), and she's close enough into Victor's orbit. I wouldn't be surprised if she died right there and was found by the Monster. This was a very good balance of all the plots tonight. Eva Green looked especially smoking.
  18. Forbes also had a strong turn on Battlestar Galactica. Way way better than her role on True Blood. She's one of those actors you can cast in some pretty far out shit, like, a show about clones, for example, or killer robots from outer space, and she's going to ground the show in some sense of reality. I'd even say she's better at that than Frewer.
  19. That's really the only way he'd be able to move on from her. Based on seven seasons of the show, all he does is circle around and wait for her.
  20. That was weirdly coincidental. I'm surprised I didn't read of any of the usual bitching about this episode from any climate deniers in my FB news feed like when the show first aired, like how creationists were demanding equal time.
  21. That took me *all* afternoon.
  22. Jokes about being a lesbian or a boy because a woman has short hair? Yawn. Do better, show. That's hacked. Then, again, I suppose the press would run with the lesbian angle because it's such a contrivance. I just don't want to see the show fall into a hole of cheap jokes and trite one-liners. However, it's a good point that no way does a lady politician get a different 'do without vetting the shit out of it. To do something like that seems to me Selina was desperate to put all the Jake and London BS behind her. I hope she's not freaking out and heading down the rabbit hole while the staff scrambles to stay on top of things. I thought she did fine with the debate. We knew she screwed up the third R, but no one else did and I think she made a good save. The way it played out was that Baseball and Selina ran away with the debate and that seemed right to me. Chung just always comes off as skeevy to me and he's always hanging on the one military thing he did that one time. It's not like he was career military. So that gets old fast. I'm surprised Maddox bombed so bad. Right from the start he looked awkward and unprepared. This is probably as close to a win Selina's had this entire season. She's been in a hole that's been tough to climb out of especially with London. Having the team impersonate all the debaters was pretty funny. I'm *shocked* Kent snipped at Sue like that! He has a hole in his heart where Sue used to be. On the whole, I enjoyed the episode. (I'll see myself out.)
  23. Has their been any legit character growth for anyone? I think the show is just going to end the way it began, and I have to ask why then? What did TPTBs hope to achieve by producing this show? Any given show doesn't have to be about anything per se, but there's usually some character growth or something.
  24. Oberyn, as likeable as he is, isn't that much better than the rest of the lot over there. In the end if you let your bloodthirsty need for revenge cause you to do something stupid, then usually, you die. It's been like that since Ned thought he could trust Littlefinger. This is the issue with Tyrion. I'm having a hard time thinking he's really going to die because he's is very much his father's son, and neither are stupid, which is why they're still alive. His only stupid thing was loving Shea, which isn't that bad. He was the singular architect in the defense of the castle when Stannis invaded. That's why I was asking about a pardon. Although it's going to be hard to justify how killing the previous king can just be pardoned out of hand without seeming like a cheat.
  25. *molested* by elves. Even better. Why would he be? Sarah is a scam artist and a criminal. It's not like she's going to be hooking up with choir boys. Cal seems like some kind of hacker, like Anonymous.
