  1. As I explained last season (among other reasons) when Alison was snubbed then, it may have been because her name wasn't as well-known as others who she was up against for the few slots in whichever category she was nominated in (& if her role/screentime was greater last season, she was probably put in the Supporting Actress in a Drama category which would've made it harder for her to get in [the guest acting Emmys have specific eligibility rules about stuff like screentime & the number of show episodes an actor can be in each season]--heck, the competition's gotten so great they, for example, moved Allison Janney to the Lead Comedy Actress category this year so she'd have a better shot at a win though before that she'd been in the Supporting Comedy Actress category for the whole run of Mom, & even won at least 1 Emmy in that category). Also, as much as we may like to pooh-pooh it, politics are involved in things like the Emmys & other entertainment industry awards; that might've also worked against Alison last season. By the way, an acting part is a role, not a roll.
  2. Everything I've read says Scott has the same "backend percentage" deal, regarding the show's profits, as Alex. And besides having something like that in their deals, all of the cast--not just Scott--gets paid per episode as far as I know. Remember, Alex & Scott were born on different sides of the International Dateline, being from Australia & the US. Their birthdays may only be on different calendar days because of that--they could've both been born in the hours when it's August 23rd here & 24th there, so their birthdays could really be only hours apart, technically. (I know what I'm trying to explain here; I just don't know if I'm doing it right--I'm trying to point out the International Dateline & time change between the US & Australia may make their birthdays technically less than a calendar day apart & they could've both been born when the hours in the 23rd & 24th of August overlap in their respective countries of birth).
  3. According to the Emmys' website, Alison is up against (the legendary) Cicely Tyson for How to Get Away with Murder; Laverne Cox for Orange Is the New Black; Shannon Purser for Stranger Things; Alexis Bledel for The Handmaid's Tale, & Ann Dowd for The Leftovers. With Cicely Tyson in the category, (& possibly with Laverne Cox, though the "buzz" seems to have lessened for OITNB) I'm not sure Alison's chances of pulling out a win are that great--though I'm trying to be optimistic. I'm not even sure what Matthew's chances are, in either category he's nominated in, or what Keri's chances are, based on their competition.

  6. Matthew & Keri's apparently joint reaction to their Emmy nominations for the show, as quoted by E! Online (scroll until you see Benedict Cumberbatch; they're the next 1 down):
  7. I scrolled up & found which ep was nominated for the Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series Emmy last year. It was Persona Non Grata; I think it was also written by Joel Fields & Joe Weisberg.
  8. I'm pretty sure it did last season, but can't remember the ep (should be mentioned somewhere if you look upthread). The nominated writers this season are, I believe, Joel Fields & Joe Weisberg.

  10. I'm a bit confused by your comment about Masi's show crashing, which might allow him to go back to playing Max. Masi was in the Heroes Reborn sequel last season (season 6), I believe, not this most recent 1. The reason Max went on a sabbatical (was originally written out of the show temporarily) was because he had professional gigs of different types--but not acting in other shows, as I remember--going on in Japan, Hawaii, & the mainland US at the same time & the constant travel was becoming stressful; plus he felt Max had gone full circle. Then Masi went back to the show for a couple of weeks around last midseason when he wrapped up Max's storyline in Hawaii & the character went to rejoin Doctors Without Borders (a commitment for which he was originally on that temporary sabbatical). At any rate, Masi can't go back to the show right now, even if he wants to. It was announced yesterday he's got a part in an upcoming story arc in Mozart in the Jungle which streams on Amazon.com Prime Video.
  11. Congratulations to Keri Russell & Matthew Rhys, who were nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress & Actor in a Drama Series categories for this year's Emmy Awards--the second consecutive nomination for each of them! And... Further congratulations to Matthew... He was also nominated in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category for his guest appearance on HBO's Girls. Even more congratulations go to... Alison Wright who was nominated in the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series category for the role of Martha, the lonely FBI secretary who was duped by Philip's alter ego Clark & exfiltrated to the USSR to avoid being jailed for unwittingly helping Clark/Philip. And the show also received a nomination for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series for the season 5 finale ep, The Soviet Division.

  14. While Hawaii Five-0 is being criticized for its apparent lack of diversity in casting, recurring cast member Claire van der Boom (Rachel Edwards)'s new Australian TV medical series, Pulse, seems to be getting praised for having a very diverse cast (See video linked/embedded in the Tweet) To clarify, the "ABC" network this show airs on is the Australian Broadcasting Company ABC, not the American Broadcasting Company ABC here in the States.

  16. I've already seen/read some interviews with Rob (& his sons) about the show (it was announced this spring, as I remember, & I think was originally scheduled to premiere this month but was apparently pushed back to August 2 like it says in the trailer & I said in my original post). They seem to be totally serious about checking these unusual things out. Like Rob, 1 of his sons is a believer in all the weird stuff they're gonna talk about on the show while the other son is apparently a little more skeptical about it, despite having grown up around Rob's fascination with this kind of stuff & having grown up hearing about a lot of the things they're gonna be exploring in the show. They said that in an interview, but I've forgotten which son's the believer & which is the skeptic.
  17. This Tweet contains the trailer for The Lowe Files, Rob's new A&E show about investigating weird phenomena (think stuff like Bigfoot) in which his sons Matthew & John Owen also co-star. It premieres on August 2nd.

  22. Alex will apparently be directing an episode sometime around this coming midseason. This brief Twitter exchange, between Peter Lenkov & a fan, is all the info I can find about it.
