  1. From Variety: 'Queer Eye' Netflix Reboot Drops First Trailer, Premiere Date (Watch) The series premieres February 7th on Netflix.
  2. Rob will be on the Ellen show TODAY, JANUARY 18, 2018--CHECK HOUR LOCAL TV LISTINGS FOR THE CORRECT TIME & CHANNEL IN YOUR AREA! He'll be talking about the recent brushfire & subsequent mudslide(s) in the Santa Barbara/Montecito, California (Rob's family, Ellen & her wife, & Oprah Winfrey & her partner, Stedman Graham, are among the celebrities living in the affected area or very near it). He & Ellen will apparently also be talking about what everyone can do, in regards to helping with relief efforts in the area.

  5. In The Hollywood Reporter's obit, which I think you linked to, it said he was born in August, 1943 (I forgot the day already). Wikipedia says WKRP (the original series--there was a brief, first-run syndicated sequel after the original ended, with some new characters & some from the original series; Hugh Wilson also was involved with the sequel) premiered on CBS on September 18, 1978. So, yeah; Hugh Wilson was 35 when the original show premiered.
  6. Hill Harper is probably best known for his 9-season, 197-episode, 2004-2013 role as Dr.Sheldon Hawkes in CSI: NY. He played the same role in a 2004 episode of CSI: Miami, which I think involved characters from (at the time) all 3 CSI franchise shows crossing over to 1 or more of the other 2 shows they weren't normally on to help solve a case which involved the original team in Las Vegas as well as the teams in the Miami & NY spinoffs. He won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for that role for 3 years, 2008-2010, and was nominated for the same award for the role in 2005-2007. Hill Harper is also known for his "political advocacy" in regards to the African-American experience, as the best-selling author of a number of books encouraging positive relationships in the African-American community & helping African-American men, in particular, encouraging them to be/do something with themselves, to try to be the best they can be, instead of engaging in lives of crime & spending Life with no Parole in prison, or ending up on Death Row, as so many African-American males seem to, when taking another path in life could have avoided it. Hill Harper also is/was a member of the Obama for America campaign finance committee. He & former President Obama were classmates at Harvard Law School. As of May, 2017, Hill Harper is the single father of an adopted son, Pierce Hill Harper.
  7. Earlier today various media outlets, including CNN, reported that Japanese TV broadcast its own false alarm, over their smartphone app (just like what happened here in the US), about an allegedly incoming missile aimed at Japan from North Korea

  10. Are you a big sports nut--particularly NCAA College Football & the accompanying end of the year Bowl games? If not, that may be why you're still drawing a blank on who Keith Jackson was. As a sportscaster, College Football & the December/Holiday Bowl games were his forte, though he also covered other, usually "big ticket", sports events for ABC, beyond the world of College Football & was a Member of the Sportscasters Hall of Fame. Even I didn't know who Ray Thomas was until I read that he was in the Moody Blues (which I'm familiar with but not super knowledgeable about, though I have heard Knights in White Satin, including the flute solo, numerous times). The 2 songs I like(d) most by them were their 1980's hits, I Know You're Out There Somewhere & In Your Wildest Dreams. Until I started reading about them again, I had somehow forgotten that the group was named as a 2018 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Too bad he didn't live long enough to be inducted, if he was named among the past & present band members receiving the honor. I think the ceremonies are later this year.
  11. Since we're talking about shellfish (sort of), I feel like I should pass this article along, for those who may like raw shellfish but haven't heard about this. I don't mean to gross anyone out, just passing along info to anyone here who particularly likes raw shellfish: A woman in the Texas/Louisiana area died from coming into contact with a serious bacteria, called Vibrio. Contact was made either through "brackish" water containing the bacteria getting into an open wound somewhere on the skin, while she & her companion(s) were gathering a shellfish dinner (I think the article said it was for the victim's birthday dinner), or by ingesting the raw shellfish they gathered (in this case oysters) which were contaminated with the bacteria (& presumably not cleaned well enough to decontaminate them before eating, if it's even possible to remove the bacteria that way). By the way, the bacteria mentioned isn't "flesh-eating" in the way that Necrotizing Fasciitis (the probably best-known "flesh-eating" bacteria) is. But it apparently does cause skin sores on those who have it. Unfortunately, despite getting to the hospital, eventually, & undergoing treatment, the woman involved passed about 3 weeks after becoming sick.
  12. Before my Dad died, my Mom would usually order him a shipment of Stone Crab (maybe just the legs/claws, I can't remember for sure now), sometimes from Joe's Stone Crab Restaurant in Miami, sometimes not, for either his birthday, Christmas, or sometimes both. He loved that stuff.
  13. A scientist who worked at/was the Director of the Tsunami Warning Center was kidnaped in the sort of remake too (but not by Wo Fat, as I remember), so as to create the false warning/tracking data which a single mom computer hacker would then replace the accurate info with, by hacking into the Tsunami Warning Center's website. The distraction this time was to have Honolulu cleared out to higher ground because of the impending tsunami, while the rescue/cleanup personnel (which the bad guys were posing as) stayed in town to begin the cleanup as soon as possible (but the bad guys were only interested in cleaning up/out the HPD Asset Forfeiture Locker of what they thought they were due for helping with the big drug bust).
  14. Yes they did, back in S1. It was filmed as Ep 115, but I think it aired as 114. It was titled Kai eʻe (Tidal Wave) & CBS aired it in different time slot than usual. Back then, we were airing Monday nights at 10PM Eastern/9PM Central. CBS aired this ep on Sunday, January 23rd, 2011, following their broadcast of the NFL's AFC Championship game (1 of the 2 each season--the other's the NFL's NFC Championship game, which usually airs on Fox--which determines the teams who play in that season's Super Bowl). It was set off so some retired cops (or military) who were involved in a big HPD bust involving drugs & money (subsequently held in the HPD Assets Forfeiture Locker), but who felt they were cheated out of credit for participating in the bust, and cheated out of their part of whatever reward was given to find the perpetrators, would have unfettered time with & access to the Locker (what with everyone except essential personnel--which they were described as--evacuating to higher ground) & they could take as much or as little as they felt they were due. They kidnaped, like, the Director of the Tsunami Warning Center (there's a little more to their official name than that), to create invalid tracking data & other information about the alleged tsunami; they also anonymously hired a single mother computer hacker to post the inaccurate data to the internet, by overriding the legitimate signals/information sent out by by the Tsunami Warning Center. And then Five-0 finally figured out the plan & busted everyone involved. Danny had custody of Grace while Stan & Rachel were out of town somewhere. The schools were dismissed early because of the tsunami & Danny made arrangements with Kamekona, whom he was beginning to learn to trust, so that Gracie could stay with Kamekona & his family during the alert since they lived in an area of higher ground which wasn't so susceptible to devastating damage from the alleged tsunami.
  15. There have been other nuclear attack false alarms as well. The most recent, which would've struck somewhere on the Continental US, was in 1983. Thankfully, our then-Soviet counterparts understood that the missile launch announcement was, as with Saturday's incident, a false alarm. Our counterparts on the other side, also thankfully, refused to send their missiles our way--I think the article said they risked their jobs by that act--& nuclear catastrophe was averted.
  16. It was actually only 38 minutes until it was declared a false alarm, but your point is understood. DDK posted about it on his Twitter (at least) twice.
  17. Yes, JJ Dolan's (the pizza place... it's apparently an Irish pub/pizza place) is real. And I think it's very popular in Honolulu. Peter Lenkov Tweeted this on January 9th, saying it would be in the episode this week. Characters have been seen eating there in other episodes (among others, Carol Burnett's & Larry Manetti's recurring characters) & I think other characters--Danny & Gracie, I'm thinking at the end of the ep where Gracie's Aloha Girls troop, with Danny & Steve as chaperones, gets held hostage during a camping trip by a jewel thief who can't find his loot--have had pizza delivered to them from there in other episodes (when Danny & Gracie are finishing their camping trip in a tent in their house so, hopefully, nothing goes wrong). Anyway... here's the website for JJ Dolan's.
  18. I've always thought Willie was a pretty straight shooter (& I think my mom actually has met him, though there aren't any pics marking the occasion around our house, & we're the kinda people who'd put stuff like that out if it happened). It seems to me that if he had cancer, he'd actually announce it & not hide/lie about it. He did cancel a few more dates earlier this week because of whatever's been happening with his health, off & on, lately. Anyway, I hope it's not Willie since my mom's a big fan of his; though I wouldn't wish this on any other celebrity & the members of their "fandom" either.
