  1. 25 will apparently be replaced at #1 on the next Billboard Hot 200 Albums chart by Blackstar, the new, & final, album by the late David Bowie.
  2. Apparently, when the new Billboard charts come out this week, Bowie's last album Blackstar, released last Friday--his 69th birthday & 2 days before his passing--will have dethroned Adele's 25 at #1 on the Hot 200 Albums Chart. It will be his first #1 album in the US. And it's sad he didn't live to see that milestone come to pass/it took his death for that to happen.
  3. Of at least the original cast, not including those who were added in later, like Ron Rifkin, Glenn Scarpelli (his character was Rifkin's son in the show, who lived with Ann & the girls after Rifkin's character was written out), Shelley (Ann's business partner), & Michael Lembeck, Boyd Gaines, & Howard Hesseman (who played, respectively, Julie's husband, Barbara's husband, & Ann's 2nd husband--who was also the father of Barbara's husband... Making him Barbara's stepfather AND father-in-law simultaneously), the only actors who are still alive are Valerie Bertinelli & Mackenzie Phillips. As said, Valerie's currently doing a Food Network cooking show (& periodic judging/mentoring stints on some of their other shows); I don't know if Mackenzie still considers herself a professional actress or not. As I mentioned upthread, she's now a certified drug abuse counselor in Southern California. I'm not sure which line of work she considers her primary occupation right now.
  4. Is Jack from NYC? I thought he was, but I was watching a rerun of the episode Pledge, on TNT overnight Monday night going into Tuesday morning (the 1 where the guy who went off the deep end after a sorority member rejected him at a college mixer killed the housekeeper & the son of 1 of the former sorority sisters he additionally blamed for his rejection) &, at 1 point, he & Connie (I think) were talking about the whole "elite sorority sisters rejecting the advances of men they felt were 'beneath them'--like with the killer in the ep" thing, & Jack made some comment about how "the girls from Lakeshore Drive never had the time of day for a cop's son either" (presumably a Chicago cop's son), as if he knew it from personal experience. That confused me because, at times, Jack has also said things that made it sound as if he was a native New Yorker. Like the thing about, something like, if you're from 1 part/borough of NYC & play stickball, you also oughta know the rules they use in another part/borough of NYC.
  5. If you watched The West Wing, Diana Maria Riva (who was on Team Telenovela & Co-Stars in that) was Edie, 1 of Congressman Matt Santos' main campaign aides & I think Josh's Deputy, in S7 (maybe also part of S6, I can't remember). After that, she was in Sorkin's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, & some other non-Sorkin stuff I can't remember.
  6. This year's theme/tag line & "key art" have been announced/unveiled. The theme/tag line is "We all dream in gold". http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/oscars-2016-theme-key-art-854874?utm_source=twitter
  7. Responding to the bolded. I know Will had surgery to put tubes in his ears because of excess fluid in them--that's been mentioned in the show. Also mentioned is that they found out the excess fluid was apparently responsible for Will having a hearing deficit. And that the deficit has apparently cleared up since Will had the tubes put in.
  8. Abby's coming back, sooner rather than later, though. As I already said elsewhere, she's in Ep 214, I think it is, which I think is also supposed to be the Valentine's Day-related ep (& all 3 of the actresses [sarah Carter, Lili Simmons, Julie Benz] playing Steve, Danny & Chin's love interests/apparent love interests, respectively, will be in that episode). And she posted this Tweet from the Hawaiian Airlines Terminal/Concourse at LAX airport earlier today, saying she was commuting back to Hawaii to do another H50 ep. So she's apparently in whatever ep they're shooting this week, which is Ep 518-ish, or so, I think. https://mobile.twitter.com/juliebenz/status/686576101716549632?p=v So, sorry to say, they haven't gotten rid of her yet. Which is honestly OK by me since I don't have a problem with her or her storyline. And, by the way, just as I predicted, the final Friday ratings (released today) did bump up the ep's numbers, once "Live + Same Day" figures were added. It got bumped up to 9.41 Million viewers (from 9.25 Million) & 1.4 in the Demo (from 1.3). So, apparently, a lot of people either still like the McDanno bromance, or the way the show's going, in general.
  9. And she's judging on American Idol's final season, which also started last week. Her new show is Shades of Blue, on NBC on either Tuesday or Thursday night.
  10. She had hip surgery either last year (2015) or the year before. As I remember, she had to postpone some of her last tour to have/recover from it. And just because you have surgery, it doesn't always fix the problem. Especially if you're a "high energy" performer. Barry Manilow's had multiple surgeries on both hips since 2006, presumably for similar issues as Lady Gaga's given their similar lines of work, but they've never really completely fixed his issues (tears in the labrums of both hips). I'm wondering if Gaga's having the same issue.
  11. This sort of, but not really, explains the "Comedy" designation. Basically, I think it had to do with the category it had the best shot of winning in. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/golden-globes-martian-wins-best-854276
  12. The non-famous son was a pretty big High School Football player in Southern California the last few years. He's from Will's first marriage, not his marriage to Jada. He's called "Trey" as he's named after Will & presumably Will's father. Seeing as he's not from Will's marriage to Jada, presumably he's not as annoying as Jaden & Willow since he only carries Will's genes (& I always thought it was interesting Jaden & Willow were named for their parent of the opposite gender: Jada/Jaden, Will/Willow).
  13. In great surprise/shock about David Bowie, & he wasn't even 1 of my favorite artists though I did like some of his stuff, like the Christmas duet he did with Bing Crosby & the stuff that had him on the radio awhile back (the China Girl era). Guess I should hit iTunes or Amazon's MP3 Store for that stuff soon. He just put a new (& now, sadly, apparently final--barring posthumous releases) CD, titled Blackstar, out this past Friday, the 8th. I think that was also his birthday. Condolences to Iman, his son, & other loved ones. RIP. And, on another note... Character actor Richard Libertini has also died, at age 82. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/richard-libertini-dead-laws-actor-853847
  14. I still haven't begun a rewatch with my new Complete Series set, but I thought Charlie was shot at as much because he was black, & in an interracial romance with Zoey Bartlet, as just because he got "too close" to the Bartlets. I thought the motive for the shooting was more than "he got too close" to the Bartlets. deaja: In case you weren't aware yet, Bradley Whitford won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama for his work in S2 of the show (at the Emmys which Ellen DeGeneres hosted & which were rescheduled, [what felt] like, 9 zillion times in the aftermath of 9/11 & finally held in early November, 2011). The eps he submitted to the Emmys, as examples of his eligible work, for consideration were In the Shadow of Two Gunmen (I think both parts) & Noel.
  15. This article from EW.com (Entertainment Weekly's website) says the Globes won't be streamed online tonight. At least not by NBC or in the US. It appears it won't be streamed online, period, anywhere in the world--but I'm only certain about the streaming situation on NBC/in the US, where it definitely won't be streamed. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/01/10/golden-globes-streaming-online
  16. Mark & BC Jean are engaged--they got engaged in November, according to this TV Guide article announcing it. http://www.tvguide.com/news/mark-ballas-engaged-bc-jean-dancing-with-the-stars/
  17. Regarding the above, which comments on the murders of British actress Sian Blake & her 2 sons, allegedly by her partner & their father--who then fled to (apparently his home country, I think) Ghana afterwards: People magazine's website has posted an article stating that Scotland Yard has announced the suspect has been arrested in Ghana, & British & Ghanian authorities are now working together on the case. http://www.people.com/article/dead-eastenders-sian-blake-boyfriend-arthur-simpson-kent-arrested?xid=socialflow_twitter_peoplemag
  18. Cool. I know I have all the DVDs (both the individual seasons & complete series sets), but I wish it was still airing in the US/where I am, anyway. It's still more fun watching a show I like on an actual TV network or cable channel than on a DVD--though the non-broadcast extras in the DVDs are usually pretty cool, & worth the purchase price. Could I say 1 teeny thing, trying to be helpful? The ep you mentioned is just titled Somebody's Going to Emergency, Somebody's Going to Jail. They don't use the phrase "the emergency room" in it. It's actually lyrics quoted from the Don Henley hit song New York Minute, which is played over the beginning of the episode, after the "Previously...", the current ep teaser, & the series main title sequence airs, when the ep title & the credits for the main guest stars & the behind the scenes creative staff air.
  19. Yeah. Most game shows tape 5 days worth of eps in a couple of days/less than a week & a whole season's worth in less time than it takes episodic TV to film a season's worth of episodes. At least they used to, if I remember what I once heard about it correctly.
  20. The Third Annual Virtual Big Block of Cheese Day, will take place in the real White House this Wednesday, January 13th, 2016, starting at 10AM US Eastern Time on the following Social Media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Tumblr. Use #BigBlockofCheeseDay on your posts/submissions when submitting questions/posts/participating. Here's a link to the Press Release about this year's event. It includes a TWW-related video (not of Leo explaining Big Block of Cheese Day in the ep, but involving some of the cast members from the show), & a schedule of which real life government/White House officials are participating & when they'll be available to "meet" with people through the participating Social Media platforms: https://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2016/01/08/big-block-cheese-day-back-again-gouda-time

    Season Two

Mandy just disappeared, with no explanation for the character's absence--she was never even seen at the televised Rosslyn Town Hall Meeting where Jed & his entourage were shot, she just helped prep Jed at the WH beforehand. So we can't blame her disappearance on being killed or severely injured there (which might've actually been a good exit explanation). TWW fans say she went to "Mandyville". In real life Moira Kelly, who played Mandy, left the show at the end of S1 "by mutual agreement" (as they say) with the producers. I don't think anyone was really happy with how the character turned out--not the audience or the producers & others behind the scenes, anyway. But that's not necessarily to say she, herself, was/is a bad actress. The character was just a "bad fit" with the others. Hang in there with Donna. I always liked her, but it takes a lot of other viewers/fans time to get into a good "groove" with her. Maybe you will too, in time.
  22. During the marathon of last season, which aired the same day as the new season premiere, they aired the ep where (I think) Zoey met Bill's Mom for the first time, while the family was in New York City for some other stuff, & they all went to Grand Central Station so Bill & Will could look at the trains & the 3 females went shopping, then they ended up having lunch somewhere there, where they found out Will apparently doesn't like pickles. Anyway... During the ep Jen made a comment--either "talking head" or voice over--about how kids who'd lived in orphanages, like Will & Zoey, were (apparently) more likely to go off with just anybody. So, they had them wear backpacks with some kind of tether on them, which Bill &/or Jen could hang on to (kind of like having the kids on leashes, in a way). That way, I guess, the kids could have some sort of "freedom" to run around, but they'd still be in Bill & Jen's reach, it seemed.
  23. He doesn't have to. He & his family are friends with Kelly Ripa, from Live! with Kelly and Michael, her husband, Mark Consuelos (who's on a show on DirecTV now, I think) & their kids. They go/have gone on what sounds like a lot of family vacations together. Kelly comes home & spills a lot of the details in her show's "Host Chat" afterward. The last place I know they all went together was Greece, I think during Spring Break last year (2015), 'cause Kelly talked about it a lot on her first show back. So if he wants the world to know where he & his family go on vacation, all he has to do is take the Kelly Ripa/Mark Consuelos family with him. Thanks to Kelly, at least her viewers will know most details of his vacation as soon as she's back on the air.

  25. Sorry if this is being pedantic, or nitpicky, or whatever, but I don't believe Adam was ever a gangster. His late father, Hiro, & his late brother, Michael (the ex-con who, as soon as he got outta prison & flew home to Hawaii, stole Kono's gun & killed a few people with it & tried to frame Kono for it, then to kill her when that didn't work--prompting Adam to kill him in self-defense & then him & Kono to go on the run from Michael's allies in the Yakuza, who might want retribution on either or both of them for the death [& this was really the show's way of writing Grace Park out during her maternity leave in S4]), were the ones actually in the Yakuza. Hiro may have even run it at 1 point. But I always understood Adam to be the "good" son/brother, not an active part of his father & brother's Yakuza activities. I don't think he had any real involvement with the Yakuza until he stepped in to try & legitimize the family's businesses after his father Hiro died. I thought he also said something to Kono, in the ep where his brother Michael comes home from prison & wreaks havoc on Adam & Kono's relationship because she's a cop (& trouble for his Yakuza dealings), about having gone to law school (whether or not he actively practiced law before ending up in Halawa). ByaNose: I'm with you. I thoroughly enjoyed this ep--which makes 2 of us. And actually more. The Friday overnight ratings, posted yesterday (Saturday) showed the ep got a season high audience of 9.25 million viewers (& the Live + ... DVR ratings will probably raise that at least some), 1.3 demo, 5 share. So it couldn't have been that horrible an ep. I'm looking forward to next week's ep with Carol Burnett's Aunt Deb. But I'll be sorry to see that storyline come to an end, whenever it does.
