  1. Sorry... Not meaning to "monopolize" the thread. Just wanted to pass along this link from The Hollywood Reporter. They talked to the showrunners, aka "the Joels", about their reactions to all the Emmy nominations the show scored this year. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/americans-showrunners-emmy-nominations-i-911100
  2. It doesn't make it right, but I'm wondering if Alison failed to get a nod (besides any strong competition) because she's not as big a "name" as Matthew & Keri are. They both have a "TV history", having been in Brothers & Sisters & Felicity (& The Mickey Mouse Club reboot years ago). I'm not sure how much "TV history" Alison has, in comparison.
  3. From EW.com (Entertainment Weekly's website): The cast (well, Holly Taylor & Annet Mahendru), & others, react to The Americans' (long-overdue) major Emmy nominations. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/07/14/americans-emmy-nominations-twitter-reactions?xid=entertainment-weekly_socialflow_twitter
  4. I was just coming over here to post that Annet Mahendru Tweeted congratulations to Joel Fields & the writing team on their nomination. https://mobile.twitter.com/AnnetMahendru/status/753618611218952192?p=v So that makes 5 Emmy nods this season--1 for writing, 3 for acting, & 1 for Outstanding Drama Series.
  5. Margo Martindale's also up for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama for playing Claudia again. So we've at least got 3 acting nominations & the Outstanding Drama nomination (I haven't seen the nominations for Drama Writing or Directing yet, so I don't know if we got anything there).
  6. They just Tweeted, in the last hour-ish or so (as I post), that there WILL be a Weekly podcast this week. They recently (like last weekend, I think) did an event with the five thirty eight people (I think it's a political website, fivethirtyeight.com, but I'm not positive) & they're releasing the recording of that event as this week's ep of the podcast. https://mobile.twitter.com/WestWingWeekly/status/753001789553651712?p=v If anyone wants a third TWW podcast to listen to, there's Wingin' It Pod (I think that's the name, & it's on at least iTunes... & probably Google Play). They're up to their hundredth ep, or almost, discussing S5 right now, & post new eps on Wednesdays like Josh & Hrishi's podcast.
  7. Matthew Rhys' "other" show, The Wine Show, which he hosts with Matthew Goode, is finally coming to the US. It will begin airing on Hulu on Saturday, August 13th. http://www.tvguide.com/news/wine-show-hulu-america-matthew-rhys-matthew-goode/
  8. A small bit of new information on the new Governor character this coming season, being played by veteran character actress Rosalind Chao. The character's name is Governor Mahoe (presumably pronounced "Ma-hoe-ay"). Also, happy second birthday to Josie James Caan, daughter of Scott Caan & his partner Kacy Byxbee!
  9. S7 is now in production in Honolulu. It began, on Wednesday, July 6th, with the traditional Hawaiian blessing on the set & the cast & crew members who were assembled for the ceremony. A good number of the cast was present, including Alex O'Loughlin, Grace Park, Chi McBride, Daniel Dae Kim (who seems to have just let his hair grow back as he was doing The King and I on Broadway, instead of maintaining the character-related haircut he started the role with, because his hair looks pretty "Chin-like" in video of DDK from the blessing ceremony), Jorge Garcia, Dennis Chun (HPD Sgt. Duke Lukela), Shawn Mokuahi-Garnett (Kamekona's Cousin Flippa) & Teilor Grubbs (Gracie Williams). Scott Caan wasn't at the blessing, but he hasn't attended 1 since around S2 or S3 & I don't believe cast attendance has ever been mandatory anyway. Billy V, the Hawaii News Now Sunrise Entertainment reporter said Scott wasn't due on set until later this week (also, his daughter, Josie, who lives in LA as far as I know, turns 2 on Saturday [the 9th], so...). Masi Oka also wasn't there, but I haven't seen if there was a reason given for his absence. Someone else present at the set blessing was veteran character actress Rosalind Chao. Among her best-known roles is Soon-Lee, the Korean woman who was separated from her family during a bombing/evacuation from a bombing & then sort of taken in by the members of the M*A*S*H 4077th, who then falls for & marries Sgt. Max Klinger in the final season of M*A*S*H. Rosalind's playing the new Governor of Hawaii on the show this season, according to the interview she did with HNN's Billy V at the blessing ceremony. Nothing was mentioned about the character other than it's apparently a recurring role (like with Governors Jameson & Denning). They didn't give the character's name or go into why the change from Governor Denning to this new Governor (whether Denning lost in an offscreen election or was supposed to have left office/was replaced under other circumstances, although he was technically Governor from S2-6, which would technically encompass a 4-year term & he could've just lost re-election). My feeling is Richard T. Jones, who played Governor Denning, may have simply become too unavailable, due to other projects, to continue the role of Governor Denning. Or the change in Governors could be a plot thing, but I hope they're not going back to the "corrupt female Governor" thing. Since the new Governor's both female & Asian, if they hadn't already cast her in another role (Laura Hills, the ill-fated Public Safety Liaison under Jean Smart's Governor Patricia Jameson in S1), Kelly Hu might've been another good choice, in my opinion, to play the new Governor. Just saying. Anyway... For anyone who missed the blessing coverage/cast & Peter Lenkov interviews, & might be interested in them, the page linked below has a fairly comprehensive list of links to the related videos from their various sources. Just look under the orange "Hawaii Five-0 Season 7" wave logo toward the top of the page, where it also says "July 6, 2016" (or just "July 6"). http://www.alex-the-best.de/aolhaw7.htm
  10. I don't actually follow him, but I usually end up getting Retweets from Lin-Manuel Miranda's Twitter feed on my Twitter feed & he's been mentioning that he & Jennifer Lopez also recorded a song to benefit those involved in the Orlando tragedy. I think it's being released soon, if it's not out already. Unfortunately, none of the Tweets I got mention the name of the song.
  11. For those who haven't yet heard, Rob Lowe is joining the cast of CBS' Code Black this season. He plays a former combat surgeon in Afghanistan who comes to the hospital in the show (I don't watch... Yet... So I don't know that much about it) to teach them combat medicine techniques (which they can apparently somehow integrate into their normal procedures).
  12. I thought of both "mickey" & "hickey", for what it's worth.
  13. The E! Online website says Keri was on the Today show this morning, promoting a new movie she's in. During the interview Matt Lauer asked her about the new baby, mentioning that none of the details on the baby have been announced yet. So... Keri said she & Matthew had a boy (I suppose the blue baby sling in the paparazzi pics awhile back was probably a gender clue, but it didn't have to be), & his name is Sam. http://m.eonline.com/news/777202/keri-russell-reveals-her-baby-s-name-and-sex
  14. I think that might've been Bradley's point. That a character like him certainly can't be based in reality. But wasn't that also what a lot of people also said about the Democrats & Republicans who populated the TWW "universe", that many or all of them behaved, in the show, in ways that you didn't normally find real life representatives of their parties behaving?
  15. Congratulations go out to Daniel Dae Kim & Martin Starr (aka "Toast", the team's computer hacker criminal informant). They are among the actors named yesterday (Wednesday) to join the membership of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences--the group which chooses the nominees & winners for the Academy Awards (aka the Oscars). Further information is available at the article linked here: http://variety.com/2016/film/news/academy-new-members-diversity-women-1201806086/
  16. Bradley Whitford tells People magazine there's no way Aaron Sorkin could write a character like Donald Trump, if TWW aired today. http://www.people.com/people/mobile/article/0,,21015443,00.html And Bradley & Janel Moloney also tell People magazine that "of course" Josh & Donna would still be together today. http://www.people.com/people/mobile/article/0,,21015469,00.html
  17. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the group which sponsors the Hollywood Walk of Fame, announced their 2017 honorees yesterday. Keri Russell is among those selected to receive a star in the Television category. However, just because Keri (& the others selected with her) has been selected to receive a star next year, that doesn't necessarily mean that's when she'll get it, what with work schedules, real life commitments, etc., since the stars are expected to attend the unveiling ceremony. Now that Keri's been named a recipient, she has *5 years* to schedule the ceremony before she'll have to go back through the selection process again. At any rate, congratulations are in order. The entire list of those selected to receive a Walk of Fame star in (as soon as) 2017 is at the link below. http://walkoffame.com/
  18. Hopefully I'm not being a snob or anything, but any forum, in general, where a number of posters can't be bothered to spell names pertinent to the subject or the TV show (hosts/participants, if a reality type show, actors/characters in a fictional show, the city where the show takes place, even the names of important behind the scenes type people, like the showrunner) makes me crazy. I'm like... "This show's been on for X seasons, you've been watching it at least that long, based on your knowledge, etc., & you still don't get that so & so's name is spelled like this....?". I feel like all internet forums all should have, like, a post at the top of the forums/threads where all the names important to the subject are spelled correctly & it's a "read before posting" thing. But... There will probably be people who still won't read it, or won't give a crap about it even if they do & go on misspelling stuff.
  19. New article from People magazine about the cast reuniting at the ATX Festival for the 10th anniversary of the series finale; but it says they reunited almost more to promote their work with the Justice for Vets organization Melissa Fitzgerald (CJ's Press Assistant, Carol) is now Senior Director of, than to mark the 10th anniversary of the airing of the series finale. http://www.people.com/article/west-wing-cast-reunites-justice-for-vets
  20. Tricia Helfer says her playing Lucifer & Amenadiel's Mom, despite their real life closeness in age will make sense once you see it. http://www.movienewsguide.com/lucifer-season-2-spoilers-tricia-helfer-lucifers-mom-episode-appearances/236607
  21. According to this official press release from the company/companies responsible for producing the show's DVDs, posted late yesterday by the TV Shows on DVD website, the S6 DVDs (DVDs only; no Blu-Ray version) will be released in the US on September 13th (that's 10 days before the S7 Season Premiere). http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Hawaii-Five-0-Season-6/22419
  22. My Mom underwent a kidney transplant, but from a cadaver donor, about 5 1/2 years ago. I don't think transplants take as long (at least not these days) as you implied. I know my Mom's wasn't all day; maybe only 2-3 hours at most. Yep, Aunt Deb (Carol Burnett's character) died in the last ep she appeared in. So that explains why no card from her to Steve. Mary, his sis, has always been kinda flaky--though she is trying to be better & seems to be a good mother to her adopted daughter, Joanie. So that ("flaky") probably explains why no card from her & Joanie. Besides, we can fanwank that they may go visit Steve once he's out of the hospital. As for Catherine, I think the storyline has her on a "deep cover" assignment in the Ukraine, for whomever she's working for now, & I think Steve knows about that. So she probably doesn't even know he's been so sick; especially since Steve wouldn't have told her because he deleted her from his contacts (which we saw in an ep). So that explains why no card from Catherine. Just saying regarding all 3.
  23. Bob's definitely gone; he left earlier this year & it was reported in the entertainment-related media (I think I posted the article link about him leaving FN in the Media thread). Do we know for sure Suzy's gone too? I know I've never read anything about it or I'd have brought the link to the Media thread, like when Bob left.
  24. I've been around, & watching, since the original version with the late Dick Clark started (FYI they run repeats of The $25,000 Pyramid incarnation with Dick Clark at 10:30AM Eastern, Monday-Friday, on GSN, aka Game Show Network). Anyway, I think when they started on ABC (The $10,000 Pyramid), the celebrity was the only 1 who could give the clues in the Winner's Circle. Then, at some point after they moved to CBS & upped the prize money, that's when they changed to allow the "civilian" or the celeb to give the Winner's Circle clues. Maybe this week was just how the contestant & celeb wanted it, & they'll switch things up in the Winner's Circle next week & during the rest of the run. Since this was, basically, the Pilot of this incarnation & things can change after the Pilot's shot, I wouldn't necessarily be certain the "civilian" will always give the Winner's Circle clues.
  25. If Travelocity wanted to make a commercial where they say someone wouldn't have booked travel to the wrong city if they'd used their service, shouldn't they have at least made sure there was airline service (it's presumed the traveler is [are] flying, mostly because 1 city is overseas) to each of the 2 cities mentioned? I'm talking about the ad where the announcer says so & so wanted to book a trip to Athens, Greece, but booked themselves to Athens, Georgia, instead. Athens, Greece has airline service; Athens, Georgia, doesn't as far as I know. Why not say--for example--Charleston, West Virginia, & Charleston, South Carolina, instead (confusion, but actually made by a travel agent as I remember, that happened to my Dad years & years ago)? At least both Charlestons have scheduled air service so it's believable you could at least accidentally book yourself to the wrong city; especially if you're booking with an airline which flies to both & the cities are listed alphabetically on the drop down menu in the reservations section of the airline website. Another commercial which bugs is the 1 where the Mom keeps walking in on her kid & says his name--"Stephen!"--in a shocked tone, like she's just walked in on him having sex or something (even though that's not what he's doing, because the ad's on TV at all hours & you can't show that at all hours). And--I think--Stephen's got a friend who says she'd stop walking in on him/being shocked when she does if he did such & such (the point of the ad). I don't even know what Stephen's doing that Mom so disapproves of. I've never seen the ad, just heard it (So can someone who remembers maybe explain Mom's behavior for me, please?), but it bugs because Stephen's behavior can't be bad enough to warrant the reaction it gets from Mom.
