They still have chances this coming season & next, at least if FX schedules them during the eligibility period. Now they have major nominations other than writing, getting more of them is hopefully more likely.

We just lost the Drama Writing Emmy to Game of Thrones. And Margo was 1 of the category presenters (Keri helped present Outstanding Limited Series earlier tonight). The Lead Acting & Series awards are still to come. Matthew lost to Rami Malek, I think from Mr. Robot. And Keri lost to Tatiana Maslany from Orphan Black. Drama Series Emmy still to come. And the Drama Series Emmy went to Game of Thrones. Is anything that wins a lot of Drama Emmys ending this season? We might have even better chances at nominations/wins next year, if it is.

I'm pretty sure the show swept the Limited Series categories, except in Directing & Supporting Actress where I don't think it was nominated. But we also lost 4 of our 22 nominations in the process, because we had 3 nominees in Limited Series Supporting Actor & 2 nominees in Limited Series Lead Actor & 2 nominees in Limited Series Writing & only 1 of our guys got the award in each category. So, I think the most Emmys the show can win now is 18, if it didn't win all of them already. Still a good haul. -

Billionaire Businessman William Louis-Dreyfus, Father of Emmy-Winning Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Dead at Age 84. http://www.lohud.com/story/news/local/westchester/bedford/2016/09/18/william-louis-dreyfus-obit/90622404/ Charmian Carr's sister is/was TV actress Darleen Carr, who's probably best known as 1 of the daughters/the daughter in Henry Fonda's, I think short-lived, ABC series The Smith Family. I think 1 took the name "Carr" from the other, but I forget who did it. Also, regarding use of the family name "Farnon" in acting I believe there's an actor or actress named Shannon Farnon who's part of the same family, but I don't know how they're related. -

A pic of Sarah Paulson & Marcia Clark on the Emmys Red Carpet. The Limited Series Category is on fairly early--Awards 8-15 (except the TV Movie category is Award 14). https://mobile.twitter.com/EW/status/777657096007458816?p=v -
According to this, the Drama categories won't be presented until almost the very end of the Emmys. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/emmys-2016-order-awards-are-930087 Writing in a Drama Series is category 19 Lead Actor in a Drama is category 23 Lead Actress in a Drama is category 24 Outstanding Drama Series is category 26 (The Last Category) Edited to add... Pics from Popsugar of Keri--with Matthew & alone--on the Red Carpet at FX Network's Pre-Emmys Party last night. http://www.popsugar.com/celebrity/Keri-Russell-Matthew-Rhys-Pre-Emmys-Party-2016-42410306?slide=opening-slide Posting these because, so far, I can't find any pics of them on the Emmys' Red Carpet.

Holly Taylor hits the Emmys Red Carpet. She looks good but, in my opinion, the dress makes her look too "old" (I think that's how I wanna say that). https://mobile.twitter.com/LauInLA/status/777641533205942272?p=v For anyone who forgot, the Emmys air starting at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific Live on ABC.

S07.E01: Makaukau ‘oe e Pa’ani? / Ready to Play
BW Manilowe replied to blackwing's topic in Hawaii Five-0 (2010)
Peter Lenkov says the Michelle Shioma character (your Gabriella Wo Fat) is still in the wind--she disappeared in the ep where Gabriel died. The new big bad is someone else. So far, nobody knows if this is the last season or not. But you'll get your wish to see Catherine & Doris (& Steve's new girlfriend, Lynn Downey, played by Sarah Carter) again. They're in Ep 707, which is also the 150th ep of this version of the series. Yes, Scott Caan's "I get to miss 5 episodes Alex is in" situation is apparently the same this season. He was actually working, or something, in New York last week or the week before when the rest of the cast was filming the 150th episode--so Scott/Danny won't be in that milestone ep. Peter Lenkov referred to it on his social media accounts as "a scheduling conflict that couldn't be worked out". Scott & his baby's mother aren't married though; she's just his partner, not his wife. Her name's Kacy Byxbee. Their daughter is named Josie... Josie James (presumably for Scott's dad) Caan; she's 2 years & 2 months old. Alex O'Loughlin actually has 2 sons & 1 stepson. His sons are Saxon, from an early relationship in Australia & Lion, his son you mentioned, with his wife Malia. He's also stepfather to Malia's son from a previous marriage, Spike. -
Another article, from The Hollywood Reporter, on Dave's National Geographic Channel program. This says after the 1st episode on October 30th, the series moves to Wednesdays (just in case Dave's ep isn't on October 30th). http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/david-letterman-tv-return-video-929704?utm_source=twitter Edited to add... A 3rd article, from Variety, which says Dave got to interview the Prime Minister of India for his episode. It also confirms his episode, Into the Light, will air on October 30th on National Geographic Channel. http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/david-letterman-trailer-nat-geo-years-of-living-dangerously-1201862890/

Somewhere upthread, I think more than once, I mentioned Dave had been signed, or whatever you wanna call it, to host what I guess is best described as an episode of a series National Geographic Channel is doing on climate change (other celebs will be hosting other episodes). EW.com (Entertainment Weekly's website) posted an article about Dave's segment earlier today. They give a premiere date of October 30 in the article; that seems to be for the first episode of the show, but it's not clear (at least to me) if that's Dave's episode or not. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/09/16/david-letterman-years-living-dangerously-trailer?xid=entertainment-weekly_socialflow_twitter

The Annual Primetime Emmys - General Discussion
BW Manilowe replied to susannot's topic in The Primetime Emmy Awards (Emmys)
They always hand out the Creative Arts Emmys separately from the "major" Emmys, just like they do the Daytime Emmys separately (forgive me if I misunderstood you & you knew that). This year, though, they presented the Creative Arts Emmys in a 2-night ceremony instead of the normal 1 night. -
Congratulations to Alec & his wife Hilaria. They welcomed their 3rd child (& 2nd son) together on Monday night in New York City. Alec also has a daughter from his previous marriage to Oscar-winner Kim Basinger. The new baby's name is Leonardo Ángel Charles Baldwin. They seem to be calling him Leo, & since there's an accent mark over the A in Ángel his 1st middle name presumably uses the Latin/Hispanic pronunciation. He has 3 older siblings, half-sister Ireland (age 21), sister Carmen Gabriela (age 3), & brother Rafael Thomas (age 15 months).

@ebk57: You're actually right. My apologies. I did some Googling & found a PBS website/page for the Mark Twain Prize program. It lists each edition of the program along with the initial airdate on PBS. The airdates I've seen have been in October & November. Perhaps I got a repeat airing confused with an original airing. http://www.pbs.org/mark-twain-prize/shows/

They have gotten age appropriate partners before, but it was "case by case". Mark's dad was brought in to dance with Florence Henderson (I'm positive) & Cloris Leachman (I'm almost as positive) in their seasons.

And Tom said during this ep that LA & somewhere else in CA/the Pacific Time Zone would get this coming Monday's ep (September 19th) live at 5PM Pacific (the same time it's live in Eastern & Central Time) due to ABC airing NFL football that night in LA & another western/California city.

Vanilla Ice, though, isn't touring as a solo act. I think there are a good 4-6 total acts in his show (I linked to the promo art Tweeted by the venue here & showing the entire group of artists involved) so, presumably, they could just say he wasn't supposed to play 1 or more of the shows on the tour if need be. There should still be enough acts on the tour without him to make most/everyone happy. As I said in his thread, his show's coming to my hometown on November 3rd--if DWTS isn't over by then, he could be out or else we'll be seeing his partner around my town.

Tom said after Derek & Marilu danced that they would get verbal comments from all 4 judges, but the rest of the couples would only get verbal comments from 3 judges (I guess to save time). All the couples got 4 judges' scores though.

S23: Laurie Hernandez - Balancing On Her Toes

No, it doesn't look like it's Disney night. Derek & Marilu are dancing foxtrot to a song called Angela, the alternate title of which is The Theme From Taxi. -
S23: Marilu Henner: Taxiing Into The Finals?
BW Manilowe replied to radishcake's topic in Dancing With The Stars
Derek's doing a blog for, I think, TV Guide's website this season. He said they're doing a foxtrot to The Theme From Taxi (aka Angela) this week, though he also admitted he's having trouble making the foxtrot work with the song. So they're another couple getting an associated song outta the way early. -

BW Manilowe replied to GHScorpiosRule's topic in Law & Order
Awhile back I posted here that Elizabeth Röhm had mentioned on her Twitter (which I saw as ReTweets on my Twitter because I don't follow her) that she was in Hawaii, filming a guest spot on Hawaii Five-0 for an ep airing in the upcoming season. In case anyone here wants to watch her ep, especially if you're not a regular viewer of H50, her ep will air on Friday, October 7th, at 9PM Eastern/8PM Central Time on CBS (check local listings for the correct time west of Central Time). She plays a police psychiatrist in the ep. -
The $100,000 Pyramid - General Discussion
BW Manilowe replied to Meredith Quill's topic in The $100,000 Pyramid
OK... In the post above, I said I thought they're looking for a key word in the Winner's Circle categories when they decide if the player gets the money for that square &/or the money for reaching the top of the pyramid/clearing all 6 categories, & it's OK if they don't answer with the exact word/phrase written on the pyramid. Unless, of course, there's just 1 word in the category. Just saying. I was watching the Dick Clark version on GSN this morning & the 1st trip to the Winner's Circle confirmed exactly what I thought, & it came straight out of Dick Clark's mouth once that round was over. Ken Kercheval (he played Cliff Barnes, Bobby Ewing's brother-in-law on the original CBS version of Dallas & the enemy of JR Ewing & the rest of the Ewing family on both the original & the recent TNT reboot version of the show) was playing the Winner's Circle pyramid with his partner for $10,000. They'd cleared the 1st 5 categories. The last category was "Things You Change". The contestant said "change" at 1 point, & the usual "you won the money" hoopla (theme music playing & bell ringing) commenced. But they apparently didn't think they won the $10,000. Dick came over, as usual, & congratulated them & confirmed the win. He further confirmed my hunch about them actually just looking for a key word in the Winner's Circle pyramid categories & not really needing the exact phrase in the category said by the player. He explained that the category was "Things You Change" & that when the lady Ken was playing with said the word "change" in response to Ken's list of stuff that fit the category, that got her the $10,000 because they look for a key word in the categories at the Winner's Circle pyramid. He specifically mentioned the thing about looking for a key word. -
This week for the 7th season premiere of The Talk, they're doing a thing where, I think, the hosts open up about things they haven't really discussed on air/they tried to discuss & ended up not being able to--like why Sharon needed a 5-week leave of absence from the show awhile back (it turned out she had a complete breakdown; she said she couldn't talk, think, or other things, & I think also a bad bout of depression, & had to be "put into a facility" [actually 2, I think she said], as she put it, to learn how to deal with things over again). She tried to explain this a season or 2 ago, but wasn't really ready then. Anyway... Sheryl's thing was on yesterday's (Wednesday's) show. She & her older brother discussed how Sheryl came to be conservator (the word she used) for her developmentally disabled older sister, Frankie, who has the mind of an 18-month-old child & cannot talk, though she's otherwise developed into a normal adult female now in her 60's. Before she died, Sheryl's brother had told their mom he would take care of Frankie & even fixed her a room in his house; then he realized that Sheryl had already been taking care of her as they grew up & had helped her deal with "female" type issues then, which was something he didn't really comfortable with or adequate at, so things just kind of evolved into Sheryl taking care of her because she was another female. It was kind of fascinating & hopefully is on YouTube for anyone who knows/wants to know about this part of Sheryl's life, missed the show, & wants to see the segment.

A bit late with this reply... Sorry. I just had to say that I think the Outstanding Casting Emmys (they have them in multiple genres) go to the winning show's casting director(s); it's not an ensemble award presented to the winning show's cast members, like they have at the SAG Awards instead of an award for best show in whatever genre, which they have at the Emmys if not most other TV award shows.

The $100,000 Pyramid - General Discussion
BW Manilowe replied to Meredith Quill's topic in The $100,000 Pyramid
I think in the Winner's Circle what they accept is what the judges/producers decide is the key word in the category, even if the receiving/responding partner fails to say the rest of the phrase on the category card. Given the clues Jon was getting, which I felt were proper for the category, & were clues I'd have also given if I were playing, I'd say he responded properly & as long as he said "weather", he was good to go. I think if you watch the Dick Clark version (currently it's The New $25,000 Pyramid) on GSN, aka Game Show Network, Monday-Friday at 10:30AM Eastern, you'll find people had categories accepted there, & on at least most other Dick Clark versions of the show, based on 1-word answers too. At least I'm reasonably certain they did. As for the "no prepositions" rule, it may be stupid but it's been a rule since the first ep. The problem with it may be the clue giver may have forgotten which words are considered prepositions in English (shrugs). I think they also have problems when the clue givers get too wordy in general, never mind if they use a preposition or not. In the Winner's Circle they like nice, brief, succinct clues as opposed to lengthy & elaborate clues.
