I'm trying to understand McArthur's appeal. I know two American Anglican churches that used/use McArthur's material for adult Bible study classes. I don't get it. Anglicans are not Calvinistic at all, but the people in charge don't seem to know his background. Count me as not interested in attending.

I had wall to wall carpet for a long time, and the Roomba did a great job. Costco sometimes has good prices. Also check Amazon. I have purchased a Roomba as an "open box" from Amazon, and it was brand new. Just the box was torn.

That's what the Roomba is designed to do. Mine has no trouble navigating around furniture. It gets stuck trying to get under the recliner sometimes, but it eventually learns where it can't go. It maps the house, and after three or four cleanings it knows where to go. The little side brushes do a pretty good job of cleaning close to the walls, too. (Can you tell I really like mine??)

Yes. I had low-pile carpet at my old house. I have a large navy blue wool area rug now, and it works great. It also does a good job on throw rugs and bare floor. I don't know how it would do on a shag carpet, but I have had great luck with everything else. I bought rugs for my bathroom that are very low pile "rug by the foot" where you can have them make any length rug you need, and it vacuums them very nicely.

My Roomba doesn't mop, but it sure is easier to mop after the Roomba does the vacuuming. Even the less expensive models that you empty yourself are a great time saver. I love that it not only cleans under the bed and the couch, but it pushes all the cat toys out, too. I am always amazed at how many toys the Roomba finds.

@Scarlett45, Have you considered getting yourself a Roomba vacuum? You can set a schedule and it will clean while you are at work. Mine does a great job on cat hair and the reviews are good on dog hair. Mine empties itself as well, so it is low maintenance. You can get one that mops, also. It is kind of fun to watch it work, and my cats don't mind it at all--but they don't ride on it. Flora will stretch out on the floor and try to snag it as it goes by. It does eat cat toys, so I have to make sure they are picked up, but otherwise it just does its job. It is nice to always have a clean floor and clean rugs. Good luck with the new job.

I don't remember t-storms even that often in the central valley CA. I used to love sleeping on my aunt's screen porch during thunder storms in Iowa. I thought that was the best thing ever.

That was posted a long time ago. Maybe when the Dugs were visiting them one time for their show.

I totally agree with the above post. What is the deal with Jennie and swings? The bowling alley "makeover" had a table with swings, too. And those stools with pedals along the wall in the event space. Really? My idea of an event space is not the same as theirs. How are they supposed to hold an "event" or party with small tables and stools along the walls and one seating area for four people? I was so happy that they did not try to "update" the inside of the vintage bowling alley, but the stuff they put outside looked like a yard sale. I would run screaming if I had to let Jennie "decorate" any place I lived.

The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah

My dad, who was a really wonderful person, always held on to my mom, or me, or whatever family member was in the picture with him. I'm not sure why, but it never bothered any of us. I always thought it was just because he liked his family. But my dad wasn't creepy about it, and it was not to show who was in "power". He just wanted everyone in the picture. With JB, I always feel that he wants everyone to know who is in charge. -
It looks like Jeremy is wearing a woven-type belt.

I just watched the episode about the nurse that was moving to Stockton, CA. I moved from Stockton a couple of years ago after living there for over 40 years. The "Waterfront" area she likes so much is in downtown. Yes, there is a nice marina, but downtown is a very dangerous area. All of Stockton has gone downhill in the last 10 years. There are homeless camps all over town, and a lot of crime. Downtown is really bad. Many of the stores have closed and there are a lot of people just hanging out. Lots of shootings. Stockton had a serial murderer last year. I lived in a nice area, and there were gunshots and robberies very often. I hope she has some professional help to fix the house she bought. I am happy that she is so pleased with it, and I hope she and her family stay safe. Stockton has a lot of huge houses that are in neighborhoods that are now pretty run down. I wish they had shown some of those former "mansions" because they are really interesting. There are nice places to live in Stockton, just not by the "waterfront" or near downtown. They didn't say where her son was going to school, but I wonder if he is attending the university in Stockton. It sounded like he was living at home, and he appeared to be a nice, smart guy. I wish her and her family a good future with their move.

I love Travelpro and have had many, many miles of good travel with mine. I also have some very light weight IT luggage which, even though it is very, very light, it has held up extremely well. Have a good trip!

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp

I wonder if they would follow any advise from an allergist. I had a (well-educated) friend who took her son to a very good allergist due to breathing issues. He told her that her son needed to be away from dust as much as possible, and to remove the carpet from his bedroom. She was horrified, and told everyone who would listen how awful the doctor was. Besides, removing carpet and replacing flooring was just too "expensive". Never mind her kid was having trouble breathing. So the kid continued to suffer, and she kept her money. I can see Joy not understanding directions from a doctor. She grew up ok, so her mind her son will be fine. Poor Giddy. -
OOPS! Thanks, I'll correct it. I was typing too fast, I guess.

Here is an alternate theory: The Bateses heard about the documentary and decided to drop their show rather than draw attention to their association with IBLP. Maybe, since Gil is on their board, TPTB in IBLP told them to drop their show to prevent bad publicity. It seems strange that UP would pull a series that was already in the can. Although I wonder if the Bateses had that much leverage. It would be interesting to know exactly what happened. I think it is strange that there was no statement or complaint from the Bates family. They seemed to go away much to quietly.
-
This is why I was wondering. Perhaps the Bateses were going to be included or mentioned, or ILBP, or something that would hit too close to home. It just seems sort of a big coincidence.

I wonder if this series has anything to do with the Bates cancellation. There has to be some explanation.
