  1. my gawd - Sean literally weighed over 1,000 pounds? Absolutely staggering. His mother should be locked away where she can't harm him any longer.
  2. Somehow I missed what happened to his mother - was she not getting enough positive attention through Sean anymore, so she got sick herself to ensure plenty of care and sympathy? (Munchausen Syndrome people will do this.)
  3. This one is just like the Half-Ton Teen's mom (can't recall his name.) She would be extremely deferential and a total suck-up to Dr. Now, but then turn around and ignore everything he said. Sean's mom did the same thing to Dr. Paradise. And yes, I want Dr. Paradise to have his own show, too!
  4. That is NOT love. She is using her own son as a means to get attention and sympathy and "love" for herself. When you love someone, you don't harm them. She is forcing him to live in misery and pain so that she has the perpetual baby she wants. Some Munchausen mothers secretly kill their own children in order to get the attention and sympathy that such a loss brings - until they're found out. That's the road Sean's mother is on. Please don't say she "loves" her son. She loves no one but her own sick self.
  5. The therapy visits are by far the most interesting for me. Well, that and Dr. Now ripping someone a new one who desperately needs it. And not in the surgical suite.
  6. Hey, is that Dr. Paradise? Who looks like he's 12 years old and about as tough as a puppy, but he's the only one who stood up to Steven! And he's just hit the nail on the head with Mama Munchausen.
  7. Yes, and she'll never let him grow up if it means she has to kill him. She's why we need a show on the enablers. There is zero hope for Sean until his mother can be dealt with. She's even sicker than he is, in many ways. And she reminds me very much of the Half-Ton Teen's mom. I'd sure like to see an update on them. He was Dr. Now's patient, wasn't he?
  8. I noticed during *Avalanche* that she took it out again at the end of the movie. I must know! It seems to be mostly an excuse to let Gypsy come in, make a joke, and then leave again, but I still want to know what it is!
  9. OK, please help: What is it that Gypsy lowers into the theater near the beginning each time? It looks like a bag or a briefcase, and she's holding it by the handle.
  10. and he's drunk, too???
  11. good god, Gilbert - do these two not know about "alternative methods?"
  12. oh gawd - please tell me Lupe's not pregnant - Gilbert, I done lost all sympathy for you man
  13. I'm not sure "romantic" is exactly the word for it lol . . .
  14. The faces on both of these women . . . so terribly distorted. Like hugely inflated balloons. You'd think that would be enough in itself to change their minds. And I can't muster up too much hate for Lupe's husband stepping out, and normally I would. When she looks as she does, and is completely unable to be a normal partner to him, what did she expect? Again, you'd think things like this would be enough to wake them up, but obviously not.
  15. You know what I've found relaxing and enjoyable to watch? And never thought I would? Homebuying and home renovation shows. They always end well, they're pretty to look at - some call them "house porn," lol - and you learn a lot. And seeing as how Tarek and Christina's marriage imploded on Flip or Flop, they're still pretty snarkworthy!
  16. Hmm. Wonder what the calorie count is? Did he ever think of that? Will Dr. Now have to include this on the diet sheets? I'd love to hear what he had to say about this!
  17. Yeeeah, it sounded like both mom and dad got around quite a bit at that time. He was shocked, but not surprised. Okay.
  18. haven't looked elsewhere on this forum, but just saw this on FB: http://getreallol.com/pregnant-tlcs-sister-wives-expecting-again/ anybody else heard about this? It's Robyn.
  19. Just joining in : Loved LaTrice's "Natural Woman," and - if it counts - I could watch Violet's "Too Many Daddies" from the awards broadcast all day long. That is what a professional looks like, IMHO!
  20. See, I'll take a different point of view and say that I don't object to TLC showing stuff like this and the James K story. That's because there ARE people who live like this and make the lives of their families a living hell. Not to mention abusing the system until it's ready to die. People Creatures like Steven make it impossible for those with a real need for assistance and for pain meds to get any help because he's sucking it all up like a giant black hole of suck. Many folks need to realize that this sort of evil and degradation and mental & emotional illness does exist, and that you can't change it by giving them more benefits and more love and more help. And that the system is so overloaded it's in real danger of collapse. In writing fiction, we always say that you must "Show, Don't Tell." That is, you can't just say that someone is evil, or crazy, or an abuser. It will roll right off of the reader/viewer. But if you show the very real actions and effects of evil and crazy and abuse, that is when you get the emotional reaction you're looking for - and in these cases, the desired reaction is to Change Things so that horrors like Steven never happen again, either to himself or to his family. I don't think TLC makes these people look any worse than they actually are. I'd guess it's even worse in reality, from some of the stuff I've heard is on Steven's YouTube videos. TLC just holds up a camera and we see the results - - much the same way that Dr. Now made Steven stand in front of a full-length mirror and actually look at what he had done to himself. That was some of the most fascinating, and even moving, television that I've seen. And I've seen way too much TV. So, no, I don't think any of us should feel guilty about watching this sort of thing. I hope they do continue to include some success stories, but those are even more effective IMHO when TLC also shows us some that are not.
  21. oh, I'd watch the heck out of that. Have you seen the Assanti Brothers episodes of 600-lb Life? Wouldn't you love to see Whitney versus Steven? They could talk about cats and how not to care for them.
  22. Oh my god, you win the Internet today. That was priceless!
  23. CUPCAKE!!! Why did he have to name it after a FOOD ITEM??? Are we sure it's the same cat?
  24. That was some of the most affecting and harrowing TV I've ever seen, and I've seen way too much TV. And I remain most concerned at that poor cat in Steven's apartment. The cat was very sweet and friendly to him, and I can just see Steven copping a fit of rage and taking it out on that animal. I really, really, really hope that cat has a new home now.
