You people who post these ads that we don't get (yet) in the Detroit area that make me cry -- damn you! Just kiddin', mmecorday. I truly loved that one, too. Besides, I needed a good cry. :) Thank you! P.S. I signed up w/Amazon Prime this past December & couldn't be happier.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
Maizie131 replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
forumfish - OMG - That is absolutely hilarious!!! Thanks for posting! -
walnutqueen - couldn't agree with you more on both counts. I'll add another one I've tried to watch several times but just can't make it through - Deadline: Crime With Tamron Hall. I think she must be buddies with Paula Zahn, because their narration/interview styles are pretty much interchangeable. I usually watch the first 5-10 minutes of Paula Zahn, then fast-forward to the last 10 minutes to learn the outcome. Hard to believe, but last night I actually watched Indecent Proposal (I was really bored). It's one of the most ridiculous shows I've ever seen, as I knew it would be from the commercials. What in the hell is I.D. thinking?! I don't know if they pay attention to ratings, but airings of A Crime To Remember had to be off the charts for their highest number of viewers. (Sigh....)

I like this one (from the book I mentioned above): "Let's eat Grandma!" or "Let's eat, Grandma!" Punctuation saves lives. -

All this talk about bad spelling/punctuation/grammar warms the cockles of my heart! Love reading all your stories. Many, many pages ago on this thread (I think), the subject of bad grammar came up and someone posted that he/she loved the book, "Eats, Shoots & Leaves" by Lynne Truss. I went right to Amazon & ordered it, and it's now one of MY favorites. Highly recommend! -

GH - I can totally identify with your rant about "news" reporting these days. This morning I got up & read (online) a local TV news station website that lists a dozen or so "bullets" for top stories in the Detroit area. One of them is always about the day's weather. Here's the headline: "Dryer weather moves in for Friday." I just get silently pissed off & continue reading the article, but I decided to comment this time. My comment was: "Dryer weather moves in for Friday." Wonder if the washer weather will move in, too. Who writes this stuff?!? Arghhh! Anyhow, one asshole replied to my comment: "Just what in the world is the matter with "Dryer weather"? I'm not an English major so I don't see anything wrong with it." Oh.My.God. Sorry - had to rant. I feel better now. (And BTW, I'm only a HS grad, however, must admit Spelling & English were 2 of my favorite subjects). -
This Geico commercial is one of my faves. Funniest line: "Looks like he's gonna go with the 9 iron...that may not be enough club." Golfer flailing in the air trying to hit the sea monster. Too frickin' funny! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCCVbClAMtI

Hard to believe, but I missed the first ep. of this season's Joe Kenda show last night! (Homicide Hunter) Did anyone watch? I'll bet Suz At Large did! (By the way, love that avatar, Suz!) Anyhow, should I go searching for it to watch or just wait until next week?
-
I couldn't muster up the interest to watch the "last episode of the season" (hopefully the last episode PERIOD). Did anyone watch it? This show must go buh-bye.

Shit! I just discovered this forum (for TLC)! Just last night I was looking all over this website for a place to comment on TLC's new show w/Roma Downey, "Answered Prayers." I've now watched 2 episodes, and last night's was a re-hash (different format & updated) of 2 episodes I recognized from "I Survived..." I actually really liked that show, but I'm thinking this is going to continue with Roma Downey's show. Did any of you watch it ("Answered Prayers")?

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
Maizie131 replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
Me, either, Riley!!!! And the (very) few times I've been asked to leave my shoes by the door I'm grossed out thinking about all the smelly, sweaty, athletes' feet people walking on the floors that I'm now walking on! YUCK! Methinks this is a conversation better served on the "Pet Peeves" forum, cuz people really feel strongly one way or the other...we could go on about this til tomorrow! ha! But thank you for thinking like me -- I wonder if we're in the minority... -
Stop it, walnutqueen! Laughing so hard I almost coughed up a lung!!

Holy Toledo - I haven't seen this commercial. Guess I have to stop fast-forwarding through them! Every month or so I Google her name for any news as to how she's doing in the 100+ degree daily temps in that prison where she's spending the remaining days of her life. I can never find a thing about her. Anyone know?
-
KellsBells - I've wondered this exact same thing myself. In some of the stories (of murders) repeated in different formats, it's obvious the survivors/loved ones are older than in the original 20/20, or whatever program where they were first interviewed. Nor could I imagine even giving one interview after such a horrific event However, as it's been said many times, people deal with grief in different ways - they may feel better talking about it (& sharing their grief with 10 million viewers). I've also wondered if these people are paid - my guess is they are but I could be wrong.
-
Josette - thanks so much for posting this! Re: the crazy titles of the shows, on this very forum (waaay back many pages ago), some extremely creative people who post here offered their suggestions for titles of ID programs. If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend -- you'll be laughing your ass off, for sure! Anyhow, getting back to the article, I quote: "However soothingly familiar are the elements of each case, there is no end of fresh cases. The network airs 650 hours of originals each year, nearly two new hours every day." I call bullshit on this statement -- I'm willing to bet at least 25% (and probably far more) of the shows are re-enactments of the same crimes just in different formats with a new "catchy" title. Again, thanks for posting.

Well, guess we won't have to bitch about this show much longer. Next week is the last episode -- hopefully for all time, but the promo says "of the season." I can't imagine they'll bring it back. I'm certainly all done with it. There were only 4 episodes, weren't there?

Poor, pitiful puppy! Hey, Demented Daisy -- I think he's trying to tell you something! (Get off the effing computer & PLAY WITH ME!) ha!

Oh My God! HILARIOUS! He didn't even TASTE it!!! (Loved your slo-mo as he was running to his feast.) Happy Birthday, Gordy! Good boy!

All Episodes Talk: Small World, Big Lives
Maizie131 replied to NewOrleansLady's topic in Little People Big World
I just watched a rerun of the episode where Matt wants to throw an engagement party for Zach & Tory, and presented them with his engagement gift he made for them (the doghouse). I thought it was great & actually loved it, but after thinking about it realized the irony -- he sure as hell has been in the doghouse more times than you can count over the years! The idea probably came to him without much thought! ha! -
Torqy - No, it was not well-publicized unless you looked at the "National" tabs of news sites. I read quite a few newspapers online every day - Foxnews.com being one of them -- it was on the front page. I didn't see it on any others until several days later, which is a shame -- she was such a neat lady. And I agree w/you -- the TV movie with Mark Harmon portraying Bundy was a great one.

Congratulations to Rufus and Murphy, for hitting the doggy rescue jackpot! How adorable are YOU TWO?!?! Adorable, Maharincess! And I LOVE the bent ears! I rescued an Airedale who had the exact same ears ... one up, one down. So damn cute!

This one for Pedigree Dentastix makes me smile every time I see it.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
Maizie131 replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
Pet peeve (actually, hatred) of people who leave their dogs in cars on hot days -- even if windows are cracked & they had water in the car for the dog. Article from my local newspaper this morning: http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/story/29652938/dog-found-left-in-126-degree-parked-car-in-southfield -
When Coco decided it might be a good idea to have a meeting with a "matchmaker," I wonder how long it took TLC to find one that was 4'11"? Talk about totally staged! I kept looking at the 2 of them walking along the beach, thinking, OMG, there's no way that girl is even 5 ft. tall. Of course, shortly thereafter they gave her height. I doubt this show will make it past the summer season.

Maharincess - Thank you for sharing that heartbreaking story!!! Your husband is a GREAT man! I cannot TELL you how many times I've called 911 over dogs left in hot cars!!!! NOTHING pisses me off more! I can't believe the police will actually let those assholes KEEP those poor puppies. Please keep us posted if you hear anything from the police. I hope those people were - at the very LEAST - ticketed BIG-TIME!
