  1. I'm sure the publicists will be adding this pull quote to the book's press kit: "The Perfect Letter is a triumph" -Previously.TV
  2. Don't forget, Stephen Colbert's "Late Show" is debuting a few weeks before Noah's "Daily Show"... I'm going to trust that it'll be worth watching and my new late night go-to (though I personally think "The Nightly Show" has improved quite a bit in the past few weeks).

  4. I haven't had time to listen to it yet, but judging from the episode description, they're talking FIFA on this week's Bugle podcast. FIFA news keeps breaking, so this will probably keep the LWT writers busy right up 'til Sunday afternoon!

  7. I could've sworn I heard Jeb say he was running for president during some news clip, and it turns out I was right. He DID say it, though he immediately tried to backtrack.

  10. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the show is getting better. Shifting away from the one-topic-per-episode format helped a lot, I think.

  14. Check out this week's Bugle podcast -- he seems downright shellshocked. I do hope he features it on Sunday's show because there hasn't been much coverage here and I'd love to hear more about it.
  15. I was so disappointed by this show for the first couple months it was on the air that I find it somewhat amazing that during the past couple weeks, I've actually been looking forward to it and enjoying it. I like the fact that there's been more comedy, less panel (I thought Mike Yard's "welcome to Brooklyn" piece was pretty funny -- it reminded me of the sort of thing they did on the late, lamented "Totally Biased"), and the Baltimore riots have given Larry a story where he can really be an authoritative voice as the only African-American host in late night. For the first time in a while, I'm cautiously optimistic about "The Nightly Show."
  16. 5/11: John Legend (musician & Executive Producer of HBO documentary “Southern Rites”) 5/12: Tom Brokaw (author – promoting book “A Lucky Life Interrupted: A Memoir of Hope”) 5/13: Reza Aslan (religious scholar) 5/14: Rebel Wilson (actress – promoting movie “Pitch Perfect 2”) Week of 5/18: DARK!

  20. Here is the full list of Peabody winners and the explanations why they were chosen.
  21. Tonight's show was originally scheduled to have Timothy Simons, Randall Park and Sam Richardson. Simons has now been replaced by Jordan Morris (of "Jordan Jesse Go" podcast fame).
  22. 4/27: Elizabeth Olsen (actress – promoting movie “Avengers: Age of Ultron”) 4/28: George Stephanopoulos (Anchor, “Good Morning America” & “This Week”) 4/29: Judith Miller (author – promoting book “The Story: A Reporter's Journey”) 4/30: Kristen Wiig (actress – promoting movie “Welcome to Me”)
  23. The trolls are not possessed of any great intellect -- otherwise they would be inventing things, not just suing companies. From the EFF: "A patent troll uses patents as legal weapons, instead of actually creating any new products or coming up with new ideas. Instead, trolls are in the business of litigation (or even just threatening litigation). They often buy up patents cheaply from companies down on their luck who are looking to monetize what resources they have left, such as patents." The most interesting aspect of the LWT story to me was the stuff about Marshall, TX, including the Samsung skating rink. That's just nuts.
