Unfortunately I have worked at places where this kind of talk was common and HR didn't care unless a crime was being committed. Management at these places was always looking for new awesome dudes to "bro up with" and "vibe out with" (if I understand those terms correctly). If they ask you if you have a girlfriend, you better make one up so you don't look queer to them.

SNL Classic: Re-Airings, Past Casts, Past Sketches, Past Hosts, the Past

Some would argue that this was another case of Lorne's disinterest in SNL that resulted in a huge mistake. -
But it had everyone in our living room in stitches. We were hoping Mike would flip out and start yelling at Kelly in his football coach voice to help him throw the challenge. At times Survivor becomes a reality sitcom.
-
But they didn't start losing because Russell was their challenge monster. They would have lost those subsequent challenges anyway. It was a coincidence.

I like any woman that screams obscenities after winning a challenge. She has been the most entertaining one to me so far.

Ratings and Scheduling: Lots of 0s and 1s

It's looking like June at the earliest. -
After watching "Young Master Carlson" on syndication, I thought the original series had used the memorable trumpet theme from the movie "Patton". This sounded more like a synthesizer.

For some reason I can watch the clips but I can't watch the episodes. I'm definitely in the United States.

I eat at McDonalds once a week (no more) and I can easily fit it into a 2,000 calorie day. Their salads are very good. Unlike many places these days, you can get a small amount of food there without ordering off the children's menu. A hamburger is 400 calories. -
New Survivor rule: do not sing the Star Spangled Banner unless someone asks you to.

I watched his non-apology again last night and I now think he's the perfect goat to carry to the end. His stupidity isn't as aggressive as Rodney's.

I'm sure casting knew they hit gold when they found this overconfident guy who is completely unaware of how socially incompetent he is. He's not Coach but he'll do.

Only in Portland (or Seattle or possibly San Francisco)

The show is more about the established characters than the city now. The joke of an worried couple hiring a consultant to excel in social events is completely the opposite of what I experience around here. Portlanders are exceptionally confident of anything they get involved in. Everyone is so polite, no one says anything bad to anyone after they've made an ass of themselves. To their face anyway. The karaoke episode should have had some jerk saying "You suck!" while hardly watching, meanwhile everyone whispers to each other about how that guy is but not doing anything about him. Where were the righteous judgemental Portlanders fuming about anything they feel is a non-progressive practice? We don't need ecoterrorists here. Whenever someone doesn't feel "at peace" with what you're doing, they'll be in your face. This was great in the first season ("Who would put a dog on a pole like a stripper?") but they seemed to have dropped it. The funniest group of people here at the moment are the middle-aged people who grew up here in the 90's and can't stop talking about how cool Portland used to be, before they built condos for the goddamn people who moved here. Rent was so cheap, you could get a low-paying job and go out every night! Now downtown is full of jerks with real jobs and everything is expensive. Back then Portland was full of "real" Portlanders! "Now fuckers are trying to push us out into the suburbs!" one told me. Last season hit this perfectly with fat balding Jello Biafra screaming "Yuppies! Yuppies!" at everyone he sees. -
Unfortunately Lindsay made Roidney look a like smart Survivor player. He egged her on to her demise. Confronting him benefited no one but Roidney. Remember that if you keep your mouth shut, you'll be around when these jerks get their comeuppance in tribal council. Shoot your mouth off and you'll have to wait months to see it on television.
-
When someone like Rodney starts spouting offensive crap, the smart Survivor contestant eggs them on since they're digging their own grave. A dumb one confronts them like Lindsay did.

I hope Max will be the last contestant who attempts to win Survivor through the power of Astrology.

When you go to college, one important rule is to never tell anyone how much you love your parents. I now believe that Survivor has a similar rule: never tell anyone how much you love your mother, or "muddah" as Rodney calls her. This is the funniest thread on Survivor I've seen in years. Good job, everyone!

One concept I'm not familiar with is "feeling full". I'm maintaining my ideal weight(by eating less and exercising but I have never ever felt "full". On occasions I have eaten a huge amount of food and could have easily eaten more, so I've never used "feeling full" as a message that I've eaten enough. I've always eaten quantities that I thought my body needed and no more. Is there something wrong with me? -

Before this show I think I tried not to notice them since staring is impolite. Now I can't help but wonder about them. My running group regularly goes past one or two obese people jogging along the waterfront. They run for a while and rest and run a little more and rest. They're doing something that is more challenging than anything I've ever done. -
SNL Classic: Re-Airings, Past Casts, Past Sketches, Past Hosts, the Past
scowl replied to vb68's topic in Saturday Night Live
I've been going through the second season on Hulu and it's quite a shock to see so many terrible sketches in what were the golden years of the show. In addition to the bombs, they did restrained sketches that were intended to be charming rather than funny. For example Jodie Foster saying goodbye to her teacher whom she had a crush on was entertaining but hardly got a laugh. SNL fans would howl at anything like that these days. Gary Weiss had apparently given up trying to make funny shorts at this point. One was effectively a music video for Bob Seger's "Main Street" featuring a woman taking off her clothes. Before that he gave us a short with Sissy Spacek looking sexy while twirling a baton in slow motion, nothing else. If these weren't pointless enough, SNL was accepting home movies from viewers. Yes, that's how they discovered Mr. Bill, but no one remembers the stop motion peanuts short that looked like it was done by kids. It's hard to believe I stayed up to 1AM to watch this. Then you have stuff that would be truly controversial now. I think "Let's Kill Gary Gilmore for Christmas" must be one of the most "politically incorrect" things the show has ever gotten away with. It's has Michael O'Donoghue all over it -- it was tasteless and not funny. What was consistently funny were loud sketches with lots of energy. That's where Dan Aykroyd was simply amazing. He could deliver dialog like a machine gun and not screw up a word. Also Belushi got the most laughs whenever he screamed or did something physical. Glida Radner got laughs from Emily Latilda simply because the character yelled. Poor new guy Bill Murray isn't getting much to do yet. In one sketch he played a cop and got a line, but the camera was on Aykroyd the whole time. Of course his breakout character would be a loud energetic lounge singer. -
Vince just wanted to be loved! Is that so wrong? The way he did it sure was.

This season was at least 50% Junkyard Wars and 25% padding out the episode. They could make it a half hour show if it weren't so profitable.
