Mystery Science Theater 3000 - General Discussion
scowl replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Mystery Science Theater 3000
But Franco had only directed one or two color films before this one. I don't think he knew what color films were supposed to look like yet. In this one I think he was trying to go overboard with color (how many red and green gels did he put on those lights?) and ended up making an ugly mess. You're right that the guy had a long prolific career sometimes making a film every month. He made Corman look like a slowpoke. Fading into darkness isn't that bad -- just pretend it's "low key lighting". The screwy and correctable colors just made my eyes water. No one wants to see that! Fu Manchu is also not my favorite MST3K episode. I think this was the first time I actually watched the whole thing. -
Looks like they're going to try to make personal computers hot and interesting again, and the people who worked on them sexy and passionate. Yep, you wouldn't believe the shenanigans that went on during the West Coast Computer Faires back in the 80's. I went to the one where Adam Osborne introduced the Osborne I. I bet that guy got laid non-stop that weekend!

Oh man, clips of his challenge screwups with Warner Brothers cartoon music would be classic!

In his interviews Dan has made it perfectly clear that when he says "flippers don't win" he means "never win". As Dan would say, "Period. End of story. End of discussion." He was at a complete loss to explain the cases where they have won. He wasn't even familiar with one or two flippers who have won.

Someone edited a montage of Coach's epic moments from Tocantins peaking with his Christ-like return from Exile Island. It was the funniest thing I had ever seen. Maybe someone could edit clips of Rodney's whining and primate behavior. Coach's unintentional humor was helped by smartasses around him. Joe's look of disbelief to Jenn was pretty good, but it wasn't as funny as Erinn's comment about Coach: "Wouldn't it be funny if we found out that this is the first time the guy has ever been out of Nebraska?"

Dan got voted out so I would say, "yes".

Remember when some of us thought he was acting the part of the villain in order to be a memorable Survivor character? Wow, we were giving him way too much credit. He still insists he was the "hero" of the season, he still thinks that "flippers don't win" even after confronted with several examples of flippers who had won, and he still believes that Mike and Mike alone was responsible for him getting voted off. Absolutely no logic ever enters that dome of his.

That would mean they included footage that wasn't Sierra playing in the IC because they all stopped playing once Mike won. I don't think they'd do that.
-
A coworker's comment on that was "He learns how fire works... now he's King of the World."
-
Along with Rodney, so women know they need to hold themselves to a higher standard than us men. Where did they find these Neanderthals?
-
And if the editing is to be believed, Sierra nearly beat Mike in the IC.
-
But you know they would have applauded if Mike had lost and been voted out.

Remember, there is still a very small chance that the Wiley E. Coyote of Survivor: Worlds Apart could turn into the Wiley E. Coyote in the Roadrunner episode where he suddenly starts talking to the camera. Wiley's first sentence would be perfect for FTC: Rodney: "A legitimate question, young man, deserving a legitimate answer..."

The rare times I've succeeded at something that took a lot of stress and concentration, I didn't feel like celebrating at first. I just wanted to sit down and relax my brain for a minute. That's how Mike looked to me.
-
I hope the reunion replays his faux-apology to Sierra so the audience can laugh while Dan looks shocked and confused by people's audacity and unmitigated gall.
-
Or maybe it's a woman who doesn't suck at life.
-
I saw a lot of Rupert in Dan and I'm sure Rupert was his model for becoming the next popular Survivor hero. Rupert was only slightly condescending towards the women so Dan cranked that up a few notches. Rupert acted like Survivor was an epic quest and that's how Dan saw himself on Survivor. Both gave overly dramatic interviews but Rupert knew what to say (usually not much) while Dan jabbered on just to hear his own voice. Both had no clue on how to win Survivor.

The votes have to be examined at the FTC to make sure they are all valid. If a ballot has something like "Suck it, Probst!" on it, they would ask Jenn to write a correct name instead. This means someone knows who the winner is before the FTC ends.

S03.E03: 12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer
scowl replied to Lantern7's topic in Inside Amy Schumer [V]
For some reason the dido thing wasn't as funny to me as in the original Twelve Angry Men when Henry Fonda, to make a point, pulled out a knife and stuck it in the table. I assume that's what the dildo was referring to. -
And where the hell are those sandwiches he promised?
-
The problem with grifting plots is that it's hard to come up with one that has a reveal that most people won't see coming. It was funny but not as funny as the grifting episode of the Simpsons which I kept remembering.

After blind Adam and Mary buy horses... Pa: "There are two things the blind should approach with caution: buzz saws and buying horses." Mary: "Well, what's wrong with the horses, Joe?" Joe Kagan: "Don't know where to begin, Mary. They wouldn't make glue, and if they did, it wouldn't stick." Adam: "You're trying to tell me that only a blind man would buy those horses?" Pa: "That's what I'm trying to tell you."

I never learned this behavior. The behavior I learned was that bullies count on you passively taking their abuse and that they'll quickly find another target when you don't. Even walking away is sometimes enough to disappoint them. Unfortunately Shirin did exactly what Will wanted: nothing.

I'm doubly done with this cast and this season.

I believe she said her nudity was enjoyable because people left her alone.
