  1. Dunno if it makes you feel better or worse, but that was a cover (Johnny Burnette, 1960, written by the Sherman Brothers) and not original with Ringo.
  2. Today Deadline is reporting that "we understand" Gaiman has made an offer to Amazon to "step back" so that the season can continue. So maybe we'll get S3 after all?
  3. Well, in LotR Gandalf explicitly states that whether or not the storm on Caradhras was actually due to Sauron he did have the ability to cause it.
  4. Book-wise, the giant Eagles are messengers of Manwë, King of the Valar. So yeah, their appearance is pretty portentious.
  5. I was expecting this even before the Gaiman accusations and I imagine those totally slammed the door.
  6. I first read it (or maybe it was the sequel? Been a lonnnnng time) sometime after having seen "City of Death" and was actually kinda pissed off because here I went and spent allowance money buying the book and now I knew what a major plot point was and how it was gonna be resolved.
  7. Pretty sure that was the group of little people we've been seeing get together the past couple of episodes. And you definitely can see the one in front holding the map. Certainly a nod to the movie, at a minimum!
  8. It was The Supreme Being who has Judy, isn’t it?
  9. Maybe people recognize her picture of Kevin and her pointing, etc. leads them to realize she wants to go where Kevin went? Though they used unwitnessed portals too, so I'm not sure how that's supposed to work -- how can someone lead her to a portal if they didn't see the Bandits use it?
  10. Not to mention that the accusations against Gaiman (which are pretty damned nasty) could potentially cause Netflix to cut ties with him which presumably would complicate things for a possible season 2 of this (and season 3 of Sandman).
  11. Well, that was (for me), another in a long line of Davies finale disappointments. Full of flash and emotion but falls apart once you actually look it at for any length of time.
  12. FWIW, 66 meters (the distance the camera that took that videotape was from the church) is 72.18 yards...
  13. So glad to see in the credits they brought back Gabriel Woolf! I might have to break out my "The Pyramids of Mars" DVD now.
  14. I’m really annoyed that out of an 8 episode season at least two of them are Doctor-lite. And I guess I’ll have to be the skunk at the garden party but I didn’t like this one at all. Not because it was “woke” or anything but because Lindy and her crew were too goddamned annoying to watch. Yes, they’re supposed to be but that fact doesn’t make it any more enjoyable to watch. Overall I’ve been deeply disappointed with the season. I thought it had nowhere to go but up after tossing Chibnall but oh well.
  15. It does! As a physics major I hate myself for loving “Give Your Heart a Ride” 😁but I do. And “Even a Miracle Needs a Hand” is a lovely, wonderful song. And of course I listen to “Christmas Chimes” several times each year. Heck, I taped that with a cassette deck next to the TV years and years ago!
  16. I was wondering if those people's traditional dress would be for the women to be topless (and also no underwear under the loincloth thingy), which of course wouldn't work on TAR. Because yeah, those things seemed only a step up from coconut bra.
  17. Because Davies wanted to do a gag and doesn't care about consistency or the implications of it.
  18. I liked it more than "Space Babies" but that was a verrrry low bar. I hope this season isn't decaying completely into schlock fantasy. The trailer for next week gives me some hope. Guess we'll see. On the plus side I'm still likeing how Ncuti and Millie play off each other. And after that final musical "number" I had to go watch Schmigadoon!'s "There's Always a Twist" number to purge it from my ears.
  19. I like Ncuti but that was the RTD I was dreading. Some good RTD next, please.
  20. A revamped Season 1 is coming to the stage: https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/theater/2024/05/07/schmigadoon-stage-musical-kennedy-center/ Paul also says that the already-written Season 3 is 80s and 90s musicals and that he hasn't given up trying to find someone to do it.
  21. Pretty much the entire season :( My favorite moment in the episode was when Rod finally realized all he had to do to get the soccer goal was to just truck everyone in his way and just kick it in. Especially the background music and clobbering that one guy just before the goal.
  22. Big difference between being in a spot where a team is native speakers for a leg or two vs doing it for the entire season. Just like it would be BS for, say, every single roadblock to be super athletic.
  23. I started to well up a bit at that too. That was the sole good thing about the episode. That and seeing and hearing the original handset.
