  1. Since in this episode there was a brief exchange between Rachel and Michelle Forbes' character about some over-arching power in control of Dyad above and beyond Rachel, and since both Rachel's sense of self worth and perhaps actual value to Dyad was threatened when Sarah's Kira became "the prize," I'm guessing Rachel decided that if she couldn't create a prize too, she could at least deliver one by capturing Kira, and thereby somewhat regain her queen bee status. Maybe some biologists on this thread can confirm, but I think Helena's fertilized eggs are now valuable both as potential "prizes" (second generation clones) and for their stem cell value in treating the sick first generation clones--or, maybe that therapeutic value is what made Ethan Duncan refer to Kira as "the prize" in the first place. *shudder* But I thought recent studies have demonstrated that stem cells can be derived from mature cells--that they are even being used therapeutically to regrow cartilage etc. Maybe these scripts were written without this knowledge? Knowing that Helena's babies are all fathered by Henrik the Evil, maybe having them all either aborted, used for medicinal purposes, or otherwise lost would generate ethical discussion, but likely not any real sense of sadness. If Henrik didn't have such a huge ego, he would've kidnapped Cal to be the baby daddy, given the previous success there. How old is Gracie?
  2. Alternatively: Lester = Fox Linda = Rabbit Passports = Cabbage And isn't cabbage--like lettuce--a metaphor for money?
  3. I too see a relationship budding between Kiera and Brad--in a world with time travel, they uniquely understand and relate to each other. When she and Kellogg had their one night of drunken indescretion, it seemed motivated by that same connection in a world where neither of them could connect with anyone else. But I can also still see (just barely) a Kiera/Brad relationship as just a weigh station before the final destination of a Kiera/Carlos end game. Or is that no longer even a possibility? I saw that too, but even on Fringe where they actually used colors to visually distinguish the universes, it was confusing to use those colors to identify characters who traveled between the different 'verses and became at home in them. Fortunately we rarely have to make the distinction in our Continuum discussions since dead Kiera isn't doing much anymore. I challenge anyone to identify any of the versions of Curtis definitively.
  4. I loved Allisons flower print garden gloves that enabled her to operate the jack hammer. He looked so sweet sleeping in the window seat, but I was thinking it must be uncomfortable. Did he say anything about it?I did not laugh at Helena probably perforating Cult Daddy's intestines. That was a little too sadistic for me--fitting or not. But, oddly, I was okay with him burning in his own private hell. Whew! I was worried about that! I guess I missed it.
  5. Hrmmm...I see what you're seeing (I think): When you type The Bridge into the zap2it schedule search box, it shows an airing ...Edited. See below. While looking on the FX site, I just noticed they had a mural contest for the show and now have some cool images posted from fans: http://www.thebridgemuralsfx.com/s/#!/gallery
  6. I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't notice it was insensitive too. I think because the actor seemed to joke in interviews about his character's sex scenes with Tatiana's characters, I lost sight of the fine line between acceptable and offensive humor on such topics. Also, in my mind, Paul might have enjoyed being sexually dominated by Rachel--we don't know for sure.
  7. Note the move to Sunday nights (9pm CDT, 10pm EDT). From thetvdb.com:
  8. I hope it didn't give you an actual headache, because that is a wonderfully comprehensible explanation. More, please. For me, it would be easier to just use Dead Kiera and Live Kiera--so long as we don't have a 3rd Kiera to deal with.
  9. I've compared and contrasted Lester Nygaard and Walter White in my mind and thought about them separately, and I just don't see in pre-Malvo Lester the germ of arrogance and need for power that we saw in Walter White, the high school teacher. If they decide to let Lester and the story live for another season, I would want to start a Lester Nygaard In Comparison to Walter White thread. But since there's just one episode left...
  10. The CBS Saturday morning pseudo-news show just had a piece on new summer shows that included this one. They had brief, canned interviews with some of the principles. They managed to convince me it might be worth checking out.
  11. Are you questioning why he wouldn't have bought her a ticket too? I'm not sure he didn't, but if he didn't, we saw in the hotel in Vegas that he intended to cheat on her with one of the women in the lobby (before he saw Malvo).
  12. When Lorne said no good can ever come from cherry pie, I figured it was a breaking of the fourth wall to say to the audience: This show is not your mother's Twin Peaks. Molly's dad, Keith Carradine, is the only one to really be able to stand up to Lorne Malvo. If he dies, I predict it will count for something rather than just being collateral damage. He might not only have seen Molly's murder board and have recognized Malvo, but he might have had his own murder board in 1974 with a younger Malvo on it, and, like Gus, have chosen to keep his daughter safe rather than pursue and capture him. I see Malvo as a personification of the Devil and Lester as an example of how any of us has the potential for evil. Back in the hospital waiting room, Malvo tricked Lester into selling his soul to the devil. I don't see Lester's transformation as realistic, because I don't see people really changing. Although I've never met any quite as evil as Malvo, he actually seems more plausible as a character. In my job, the observations of myself and others who are low on the totem pole are often disregarded like Molly's. I see this as a world wide problem since the beginning of time. It will be nice to see the vindication of the wisdom of those without power. The irony is that Malvo has consistently murdered/punished those who wield their power over others. Back in the Pilot, Vern told Molly she would be the new Chief, not Bill, because, IIRC, Bill "cleans his gun with baby shampoo" or maybe it was "bubble bath." I'm guessing the "lost boy" he found was really something like a kidnapper of lost boys who took the identity of the one they were planning to adopt, and that he might kill Bill in his sleep or something.* If so, I'm not sure why the writers would use this vehicle to "punish" Bill for his hubris rather than having him become another victim of Malvo. *On second thought, it seems more likely that Malvo, who has always acted as if it is only right to murder those who have power over others and use that power to make others suffer, will be murdered by the "Lost Boy" former child soldier, perhaps to defend/protect Bill from Malvo.
  13. Martin Freeman's delivery of Lester's acceptance speech was my favorite line in this episode. Okay. One more episode, and then I'm all caught up for the finale.
  14. I'm not seeing that on the FX schedule page. Where'd you see that?
  15. I didn't think the writers wanted us to feel that way; Kane announces to everyone that he will be the sacrificial lamb, and then they show him slowly stopping to clasp everyone's hands as he goes off to be a martyr, but, in contrast, Jaha just does it. To continue the scriptural references: Jaha does not pray in the marketplace where others will see how pious he is; he does it in private. So Jaha is back with the same bottle he was about to open the last time he thought he was going to die, but that time turned on the video and got an inspiration. If something similar happens again, it will be kind of comical, whether intended or not. Still, I hope it does, but doubt it will, since he twice said he was going to see his son.
  16. I'm just catching up on this show now. The Moses thing was BBT laying a plague on the supermarket king guy. He changed water into blood. That's why he was reading exodus.I didn't make that connection. Did he read as far as the plagues? I thought it meant that Malvo sees himself as Moses, who sees an Egyptian overlord beating his worker, so when nobody's looking, Moses/Malvo kills the overlord. For example, Malvo was probably ready to kill the blackmailer if he had been more powerful and violent that the blackmailee. But then, after asking his questions in the Smallest Closet, he decided the yoga teacher was not the one who deserved to be punished. The title to this episode, "The Muddy Road," is spoken by Molly in reference to the recent killings, but it is also a reference to this Zen koan. If there's a metaphor for this koan, I'm missing it.
  17. @Izeinwinter, that's what I thought too until I read Alex's recap: http://previously.tv/the-100/the-100-finale-carries-our-sexy-teens-kicking-and-screaming-to-a-place-theyve-avoided-all-season/ And then I recalled it had a lot of texture and an ornate frame, right? Or not?
  18. IMDb attributes this to Futon Critic: But Futon Critic has
  19. I didn't catch that. I did love that after the Alphas made their exit with his hand on her waist, Vega reminded Angie that he'd remarked earlier about Cross's nice suit(s); Vega's spidey/detective senses had figured Cross was dressed to impress a woman. So Cross said Angie and Vega had been partners 5 years and that is "an intimate" relationship. I get that Angie might have learned a bitter lesson about being romantically involved with her partner, but it seems Louis Ferreira has been wearing quite a few nice suits himself. I guess I'm the only one on this Eureka-less board that noticed two weeks in a row the murderers were Eureka alums.
  20. The Van Gogh in the room with a wild kid.
  21. Maybe the question should be: Who was not a Dr. Jackson fanboy/girl? Even though RDA was my fake boyfriend through Moebius, Daniel always had the most heart. It just occurred to me that the character of Finn on The 100 is probably supposed to be a less educated, teen version of Daniel. They are both all about the ethical thing to do.
  22. @beedub, "deja do" is perfect in my book. If he's not really a boyfriend anymore, maybe the thread title should be changed to: Paul Dierden: Deja Do
  23. I think OP's surprise was at the resources to transport it. Maybe it's a clue that the Ben Linus (Lost reference) of Mt. Weather is into preserving culture more than the lives of the Grounders, Reapers, et al. Anyway, Mt. Weather, VA is about 300 miles or 483 kilometers from NYC. I don't know about OP, but I keep forgetting they're not on Vancouver Island, which would be a bigger feat to transport a Van Gogh in the middle of the end of the world.
