Further investigation: apparently there were five, which feels better. I probably have them in my parents shed, though I lack the desire to actually read them again. Thanks, @Anduin, I added the 5th and reordered them chronologically by date of publication.

Whiskey Cavalier - General Discussion
shapeshifter replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Whiskey Cavalier
There were a couple of seconds after Standish shot the guy in which the camera stayed on Standish's face, with him having a look that spoke to his being freaked out about killing someone. But then that was it. Carry on with babies and whatnot. -
I'm wondering if season 2 will happen with Jerry O'Connell being so darn busy. This Deadline article about a trial talk show includes a final paragraph about several other projects. And take a look at his other current and upcoming projects listed on IMDb.
-
Now I'm wondering if there will be some sort of compromise in which one each of the scientist pairs is awarded the Nobel, with Amy representing the Cooper-Fowler contingent.

And, just because IRL I often make out-loud observations as obnoxiously inappropriate and unnecessary as Sheldon's: There would also be a third type of astronaut who only admits to him or herself that they're scared poopless.

Is there a chance Mike Massimino could still do a cameo when the book makes the NY Times best seller list or wins a Caldecott for illustration? Or I could imagine a mention of him writing a sweet forward in the book about the real Little Astronaut being an inspiration for children of all ages who are afraid of something. BTW, the show Powers That Be should really publish that book for both those fans who will be going through TBBT withdrawal, and so the perhaps soon-to-be unemployed set illustrator/artist can get their second act launched.

FWIW, I only posted links to the movie tie-in books. I detest torture porn too.

LSSC: Season Four Episode Talk
shapeshifter replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Late Show With Stephen Colbert
Maybe she can do better than that? I was cringing a bit at the windmills bit because there is some evidence in them harming birds and potentially decreasing property values of nearby residences (as my formerly anti-vaxxer niece has posted). I wish the jokes could have followed more of a "yes, but . . ." structure, addressing the OTT-ness of the Drumpf's assertions, like maybe making the joke about the comparison of windmill bird deaths to cat-caused bird deaths. -

Really enjoyed last night's monologue, and I now know that I adore Stacey Abrams. -

I have a scarf that my daughter sent me on my birthday that is printed with the background of Kehinde Wiley's portrait of Obama. She got it in the gift shop of the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC. I feel a little bit like I'm doing some cultural appropriation when I wear it, but Obama was the only president I was truly happy to vote for, I am a portrait artist too, and I loved DC when I was there 10 years ago, so I can pretend I was there with my daughter. I've heard of the 2-time Oscar winning director (but yet to see his Birdman with Michael Keaton). I was not familiar with Marina Abromovic, but she is a composite of several people I know from that part of the world and of some artists from another of my daughter's worlds. So I found the episode engaging, even if I did have to listen closely to the two for whom English is a second language.

Good luck. Apparently the last one was published in 1999. But you never know your luck. Tie-in novels are notoriously poorly written, but here you go. Scroll down on each linked page to see local libraries from which you can borrow the book, provided your geolocation is not masked. On the right of each page are links to purchase. But you can also just Google the titles. McCay, Bill. Stargate: Rebellion. New York, N.Y: Penguin Group, 1995, see availability at worldcat.org/title/rebellion/oclc/33200812 McCay, Bill, Dean Devlin, and Roland Emmerich. 1996. Stargate: Retaliation. New York: Penguin, see availability at worldcat.org/title/stargate-retaliation/oclc/880865122 McCay, Bill, Dean Devlin, and Roland Emmerich. Stargate: Retribution. Whiskey Cavalier - General Discussion
shapeshifter replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Whiskey Cavalier
For those who don't want to see any babies on their screens, the scene in the orphanage-type place where they were keeping them must've been torture. I'm neutral about babies, but that scene with the crying of unseen babies went on way too long for this sort of show. -

1.6 "Five Spies and a Baby" This was the first time I didn't fall asleep during this last-hour-of-prime-time hump day show, but that is probably because I fell asleep earlier when my cup of tea wore off, heh. But I did like it better. Especially Standish/Tyler James Williams bit with the bear. But am I the only one thinking the gift watch contains a spy device and Will is headed for another heartbreak? Karaoke ahead? -
Faux Life: Things That Happen On TV But Not In Reality
shapeshifter replied to Kromm's topic in Everything Else TV
Speaking of things that happen on TV but not IRL, Whiskey Cavalier just had a highly martial arts-skilled villain put sleeper holds on at least four members of the good guys' team (IRL they'd be dead) but, kudos to the show, it turned out she was a double agent, only pretending to be a bad guy. However, in a following scene, the good guys successfullly shot and killed lots of bad guys without even one good guy getting killed or even wounded. -

Was the home planet Antar from OG Roswell in the Antares solar system? And where do we see this? Got a screen grab? -

I didn't realize this about Burn Notice. I watched a few episodes, but I think it started the year I dropped cable and before I started streaming. Is there a best season? -
I too detested the introduction of the Ori Priors and would have definitely preferred the alternate scenarios you have described, @ae2. I never got past the Priors' creepy appearance — I think they were supposed to be scarred by fire by choice? IIRC, none of them really had personalities — they were so obsessed with following their leader that they lost any unique, personal identities. Does that sound right? An interesting concept, but losing Jack at the same time was too much. To me, Jack was the heart and soul of the show — even though I probably prefered the characters of Sam and Daniel. Does that make sense? Ben Browder was a great "replacement," but combined with the whole Ori plot, the last two seasons didn't work for me. I hate the medieval settings even more, if possible. Dammit. Need. More. Spaceships! But I was still a completionist in those days, and I did feel rewarded for it with the series finale, "Unending." I prefered Stargate Atlantis to seasons 9 and 10 of not-SG1 — largely because of John Shepard/Joe Flanigan and Rodney McKay/David Hewlett with their Jack O'Neill-style snark. Plus, when the city of Atlantis rose up in the premier, I was hooked. And Replicators were a much better villain, IMO. I even prefered SGU to the Ori/Prior seasons of SG1.

Also, they kept showing her body cam recording all of the conversations with Dylan, including the recently released excon referring to her as Dylan's sister, her trying to steer Dylan away from trouble, her kidnapping, the shooting(s), and her saying, "Dylan, I love you" when she thought she was dying. And then, as a result of the arrest of the detective in the opening scene, when Bishop comes to Sergeant Wade Grey to spill the filial beans after Dylan's arrest, he responds with: [SIGHS] If this was any other day, I might have the energy to chew you out or figure out how to help. But today today, my hands are tied. So I have to file a memorandum with the Chief, informing him that one of my best officers perjured herself on an official document, likely torpedoing her career.

My family's surname was changed by an ancestor in 1850s Russia. There are at least hundreds of others with that last name whose ancestors also switched to that surname at the same time and place, but all of their original names are unique to their families. We all share the same ethnicity, but are not related--as far as we know. Surely there must be one person out there with my family's surname who has good camera charisma and who would enter a FYR lottery, since the other thing we have in common is wanting to know the answer to this mystery. Just couple of days ago I got a FaceBook message from someone asking if my family came from Odessa, Russia. I said, no, it was in Russia, but hundreds of miles from there. I shared the story of the name adoption in the 1850s. The FB messenger replied that she was already familiar with that story. In the 1990s I had a similar communication with someone on ICQ instant messenger. None of us are related, but we share the same story.

OMG Nolan was annoying me over and over again with his useless comments during the hearing after being told repeatedly by his lawyer to be quiet. Nolan is supposed to be mature enough to know better. It would have worked as a comedic bit, but instead it was just irritating. I guess it was supposed to be funny and the director didn't get the memo. I'm pretty sure the "young" lawyer was Evil Peter Pan in Once Upon A Time, which I think would mean he's not that young. Excellent points, @ItCouldBeWorse. The foster brother is "Dylan."

Maybe it is unusual for a fictional woman seeking help to be a villain (not counting the Evil Queen disguised as an apple peddler in the Disney version of Snow White), but I think it's a common trope for a woman seeking revenge or justice to enlist allies, unwitting or otherwise. -
While it's true that I don't love the show like I used to, I would still like to read what others liked about an episode. If there weren't so many shows to discuss these days, we could do a whole thread on the significance of Bess's hair styling to reflect her mood.
