Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
LadyChaos replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
Alos, add to it that Grey Worm and Missandei benefited from what she has so far done. They revere her, she is the breaker of chains, the freerer of slaves. Because of her, they are free and they willingly follow her because of it. So one could say they are also blinded by their loyalty to woman that freed them from slavery. -

I could see Tyrion betray them if he was given to believe that Dany would by like her father. I'm also inclined to think that Tyrion MIGHT betray them if, when, Jon's parentage is released and Tyrion believes that with Dany and Jon together, the incest and the mental instability that comes with it would mean more of the same for the future of Westros so decides that neither Cersei or Dany would be fit rulers and schemes to put someone else on the throne. The problem with both of these is that we only have 6 episodes and that is alot to set up while also dealing with the NK, and other such SL's that need to be resolved in only a handful of episodes. Any word if 801 and 06 will be extended episodes or not? -

Oh god..... I think I made a mistake delving back in the fandom. The past 30 or so pages of this thread are giving me a migraine. At this point it is clear that we're at a bit of an impasse. It is impossible to know for sure if Friki's source is legit or not. Unless someone that matters, as far as leaks go, comes out and says 'No, this is false.' The only way we will know if it is true or not, is when the eps air, which won't be for a few months. So maybe we can stop with the arguments over Friki's legitimacy and focus on what we do know. Or, do we not know of any other spoilers for s8? If we exclude Friki's leak, is Tyrion's (MOVIE TYRION, NOT BOOK TYRION so lets leave the book out of this since we know they are planning on deviating from the book) betrayal sound plausible? If so, why? -

IF Tyrion betrays Dany for his family.....I think it will because it is one thing to kill his father in passionate rage, but quite another to actively plan the deaths of your siblings over the course of years. How reliable is Friki? I heard that when his stuff comes out right before an episode, it is generally spot on......but his accuracy this far out has been...less accurate. -

If Anton Lesser isn't coming back, I feel like their reasoning is just a lie. I mean Anton Lesser would have known a year in advance when GoT was filming even if he didn't know when for sure they would need him specifically. So, if this is true, then that would tell me that he intentionally books plays to be in so he could get out of being in the last season of GoT. -

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

Where did you get that from? I mean in the sense of Yin and Yang....why is that a bad thing? How is that a bad thing? Relationships should bring out the best in each other, and spending time with people is always about learning and growing. Dany tends to be quick to angry and action, Jon tends to be to slow and not act soon enough. Dany assumed everyone will betray (which so far is justified) and Jon foolish enough to think that no one would betray him. They've started to listen to each other, and work together to make smarter decisions that apart they might not have made. How is this a bad thing? Shouldn't a ruler's instincts always be correct in the first place? Idealistically yes, realistically no. No one is perfect, and we all have flaws. This is why Rulers have advisors whose job is to help them make the right decision. How often have Jon and Dany's instincts failed them and they've done more damage than good? If they work together, are better rulers together.... isn't this a good thing? -

Jon does seem to be able to balance Dany out. -

That seems to be the spoiler, most of the past 15-20 pages though, is us arguing whether or not the 'leak' is a real leak so there really isn't much to compile. Also, unless I missed something.....isn't Cersei supposed to miscarry her baby? That it was supposed to happen at the end of s7 but was pushed to 801? -
Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
LadyChaos replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
I'm not very familiar with Friki, but this to me reads like: OMG! I GOT THIS NEWS I NEED TO SHARE!!!!! Oh wait! Looks like that source that gave me that news was lying or retracted what they said....better CYA...I'll make it a joke... OMG! I GOT THIS NEW NEWS TO SHARE......hopefully, its legit this time... If the first one wasn't actually a joke, and he took what the first person said as legit, and then he was forced to backpedal ..... hopefully it wasn't the same source that told him that Tyrion betrays Dany....... Honestly, I won't believe anything till I see it on screen. When I took a screen writing class: my Professor who used to work in films would say this: What ends up actually airing, is less than half of the original script. Screenwriters write a script and hand it out to the directer. The director decides 'well...lets do this scene this way, or he can say this instead...'. Then the actor forgets his/her line, or decides to improv, and the Director likes it so they use that instead. Then it goes to editing, where scenes get cut down, end up on the cutting room floor all together, or they decide they don't like the way it looks so they call all the people involved and tell them it needs to be reshot. Then it goes out as dailies to watched, and reviewed. Maybe they don't like a scene, maybe they don't like the way a character acts, ect..... TPTB take that information and decide another scene needs to be cut, or reshot, or an entire episode needs to be taken back to the drawing board... It's rare, he said, but its been known to happen for an entire episode to have to be reshot... Now, I SEVERELY DOUBT that on a show like GoT, that they would take an entire cast and crew back to a location specific shoot to redo an entire episode....but my point is, this early before 801 airs, I won't believe anything, but it can all be changed if TPTB want it to be. Also, if the this leak is real, don't rule out that alternate footage has not already been shot. I know of several movies or shows where TPTB wavered on how they wanted to end it, so they shot 2-3 different endings, and made the decision in the editing room or let them be view in dailies and see what got the best feed back. -
Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
LadyChaos replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
Excuse me if any of this has already been said, I may have missed it over trying to catch up on two weeks worth of posts in an hour..... TBH, I have a hard time believing any 'leak' that comes out as we have known the TPTB to intentionally film alternate versions of scenes, leak false spoilers, and set up fake photo shoots in an attempt to thwart real leaks. That being said, I think I agree that IF Tyrion does betray Dany or Jon its likely, IMO, that it wouldn't necessarily be all out of love but out of fear of what kind of ruler Dany will become, and in a way out of love because he he doesn't want to see someone he loves go down the path that could lead her to be like her father. Maybe he feels that the best chance for Westros is for him to be able to be King Regent or King to whomever would sit on the throne. I could see that going two ways. 1) Being he swore to Cersei that he would raise her child if she died. So his plan is to someone design an ending where his sister and Dany die, or leaves and leaves him to be King Regent to his niece or nephew in the hopes of raising a child that is better than the rulers that Westros previously had, and intending for that person to marry well and break the cycle of incest. Which this fails, and he ends up on trail for treason when it is outed that he made a deal with Cersei. 2)He doesn't betray Dany, but Jon. After he finds out that Jon is actually a Targaryen, and actual rightful air to the throne(as he is the legitimate son of Rheagar who was 1st in line for the throne after his father), he decides to out Jon as being a Targaryen. Tyrion's thought process is that, if Jon and Dany marry and produce a child then it would just be propetuating the cycle of incest that is running rampet as well as puts him further from doing what he thinks would be best. So he leaks that Jon is actually a legitimate targaryen, hoping that the people will revolt about Dany and Jon marrying allowing him to suggest that Dany marry him instead. Then when the Starks find out that Tyrion leaked this information. Jon doesn't believe that Tyrion should die for the betrayal so he and Dany agree to let the other Starks decide his fate. Honestly, I think it that if it is leaked this early, I'm leaning more towards it being a intentional leak. My mind wonders if it might be a bait and switch. IF this leak appears to be legit, when we all sit down to watch the ending, all firmly finally accepting that Tyrion betrayed them and will die; only to find out that it's a set up. My two possible theories are: 1) that the 'treason' is a trapt for Cersei, and that Tyrion pretends to commit treason to lure out Cersei. Unless I missed a spoiler, I think the greater working theory is that Cersei would out live the NK and the last episode or two would be to deal with her. 2) The other is that someone else is really the traitor and dies, but we will go into that last moment thinking it is Tyrion (just like they did with LF) only to find out the traitor is someone else. Personally, my guess would be Sansa. She's held no punches in being quite open about her last of faith in Jon as their leader and his choices. She has also coveted to be Queen, or Lady in charge in some fashion all her life. She sees it as her birthright, what she deserves after all her suffering too. I can totally believe that she would out Jon as a Targaryen in order to say he has no claim as King of the North because he is not a Stark, at least not a son of Ned Stark. I could believe that betrayal far easier than I could believe Tyrion. After all (Yes I know that we believe that GRRM may be deviating from his book ending), originally Tyrion was supposed to live, and Sansa was supposed to die right? -
What's Coming Up With The Midwives And Friends

Doing a CSI rewatch..... I really miss this show.....and there never seems to be anywhere to talk about it anymore. If anyone is interested....I read an article where Zuiker said that '10 years from now' he saw Grissom and Sara together as a CSI: sea couple with children. Brass retired in Hawaii. Catherine still running the lab, and everyone else someway or shape still involved in crime solving in someway shape or form.

Yes, she told that young mother who ran away because she thought her daughter was better off without that her mother raised her. She said that her mother did everything, anything she could to make sure Phyllis had a roof over her head, food in her stomach, and shoes on her feet. That there wasn't a single day that didn't go that she didn't wish that her mother was still here for her to thank her, and tell her how amazing she was.

Either Helen or Jack said that they've been good friends since he joined the series, but something changed for them during filming in South Africa.

Small Talk: What's Revealed At Nonnatus House Stays At Nonnatus House
LadyChaos replied to Lisin's topic in Call The Midwife
It's not that they ran out of stories after the 2/3 season, its that Jennifer Worth was only at 'Nonnatus' house for 2 or 3 years and then left to do hospice care, which again she left to pursue music. Once Jenny left for hospice, there was still such a following for the show that they were forced to go into a new direction and make it less of a docudrama and more of a period drama. -
When we watched the scene where Fancy goes to the cottage to see Trewlove, we were both thinking he was going to blow their cover.

I may be in the minority, but I'm okay with Barbara dying. I'm not very fond of her character, she is kind of boring IMO. Also, I have not problem with this show have Midwives only staying for 2-3 seasons and leaving. Contracts in the UK are different than the contracts in the US. In the US, most actors are signed on for 6-7 years right out of the door. If they are killed off, they still get paid of portion of their contract for the remaining seasons left of their contract, and the actors can't leave if they want to. Which also means, alot of shows keep around crap actors with horrible work ethic because it costs to much to get rid of them. IN the UK, contracts are usually only for 2-3 years which allows the production companies to be able to write out a character if they're arc is done(so they don't have to make up stuff to keep them around), or get rid of them if their noncompliant and crappy to work with, and it also allows an actor to move on if they are board with a show instead of sticking around and playing a character they no longer want to. I honestly like the revolving door of midwives also, because it reflects the time a little bit too I think, yeah its nice they show that Chummy and Mrs. Turner work while caring for the family, but even in the 60's that would not have have been the norm. It would have been normal for them to get married and quit working. Not to mention, the midwives would have been moved around alot. As we've seen in here, they are often they are required to pull stints at the hospital, or assigned different places. They don't really have much say where they go. Valerie and Patsy are the only one that came to Nonnatus by choice.
-
Not only that, but Valerie said this was for the girls whose parents were too uncomfortable to talk to them about it......so chanced are it went on a lot longer before the parents released they needed to be instructed.. I also think that since we never say this before now, it was likely a new thing started up by Valerie.

Since it's being brought up in 706 because we watched it in the USA over the weekend. I thought I would post my comment here, after we know that Barbara dies. This fear is that they are killing off Barbara because either Jack or Helen have stated that they are not comfortable with one or both of them kissing other people. Here are my thoughts. I don't think Barbara's death, will go the route of putting Trixie and Tom back together. Helen George has said in interviews that she likes not having a lot of shared screen time with Jack because it helps for them to keep their private life, private. The actress who plays Barbara has also stated that she wanted to leave the show. She felt that her character arc was complete and didn't want become complacent in her career. She wanted to move on to other things. Although I do think that T/T do have better chemistry than T/B and I would like to see them together again or at least revisit it; I honestly do not see it happening. TBH, I suspect that Trixie is going to come back and Chris is going to try to push her into starting a relationship with him again. I liked Chris in the beginning, but to be honest I don't like him too much anymore. He is kind of pushy and materialistic. He has even said that there is no excuse for a woman to ever not look your best. Granted I know that Trixie can be pushy and materialistic, but she would never look down on anyone for not looking perfect. I am kind of seeing why Christopher ex-wife might be bitter and hate him and Trixie if she once felt like she was being pushed into being this perfectly well kept woman. We all know that there are plenty of reasons why we might not look our best when we have young children at home. Or maybe because we just don't like make up and high heels. Trixie has calmed down alot in the series and I would to see her in a relationship with someone a bit less, I don't know....less..... If she Christopher and Trixie were to get married I don't see him being understanding of her going out at all hours of the night to deal with patients or plans or dinner being ruined because she has a mother's labor taking longer. I think that he would want her to stop working, and I think Trixie needs her work. I mean even when she was with Tom, there were other factors that ruined their relationship but the catalyst was the thought that she might have to give up midwifery to go with him to another parish.
-
My few cents.... I don't think that THAT MOM really so much as had a change of heart and suddenly wanted her daughter to know things. I think that what her parents did to her and her sister, kept her in constant fear of being a 'ruined woman'. She was afraid to look for her sister, she even told her sister that she wanted to be 'close' to her husband but what afraid to be because her mother told her enjoying sex would have made her a bad woman and her husband ultimately left her and her daughter for it. Which probably didn't help things much. In the end its not like she tells her daughter she can go to the class, she only allows her to go to the library again. I think for her it was all driven by fear, and Valerie made her take the leap to see her sister. Seeing her sister probably made her see all that her fear was costing her, and that she was doing the same thing to her daughter. If Barbara dies, I don't think they will go the route of putting Trixie and Tom back together, Helen George has said interviews that she likes not having a lot of shared screen time with Jack because it helps for them to keep their private life, private. Although I do think that T/T do have better chemistry than T/B and I would like to see them together again or at least revisit it. I loved Ade, I hope we see him again. I don't think Trixie went to rehab, she said she was going to see her Godmother in another country.
