S01.E01: Pilot / S01.E02: Joust Friends 2015.01.04
LydiaMoon1 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Galavant [V]
THIS. I tuned in with low expectations for Galavant. Instead, I was immediately charmed by it. Unfortunately, the endless ABC promos and excessive commercials every ten minutes broke that spell pretty quickly. I was so annoyed by 8:30 that I turned the channel and never looked back. I'll wait and catch it on one of the streaming services. I just can't with ABC. Their promo dept. always manages to ruin my viewing experience. -
I still can't force myself to summon any interest to see this show. Terrance Howard is a medicre actor who's lost his looks. I don't find any of the sons attractive, and none of the music played in the promos sounds compelling. I suppose Taraji's character looks interesting, but...... Maybe the promos aren't doing it justice.

The Real Husbands Of Hollywood - General Discussion
LydiaMoon1 replied to BizBuzz's topic in The Real Husbands Of Hollywood
I thought Season 1 was entertaining until the jokes became repetitive and the slaps became tiresome. It didn't help that the show apparently didn't allow any women that couldn't pass the paper bag test. I didn't even make through the 10 episodes, and I haven't watched since. -
Best TV Fight Scenes: Ass-Kicking 102
LydiaMoon1 replied to DollEyes's topic in TV Show-Related Talk
Sydney vs. Francie wasn't the best girl fight on tv ever. It was THE BEST FIGHT on tv ever! -
WHAT!?! Normally I don't comment on Klaine, but that tidbit about them getting married at the last minute is.....just.... WHAT!?! So Kurt's going to marry the guy who was just shacking with his former bully on impulse? On a whim? Are they kidding me? You know, I'm really starting to believe that they actually intend to end this thing with Kurt stuck in Lima, OH chained to the twin pits of endless need named Blaine Anderson and Rachel Berry. Poor Kurt. At this rate, Kurt would be better off waking up in class beside his best friend, Mercedes, at the end of season 6 and realize that it was all a fever dream.

Ironically, the same can be said of discussion boards.

I could never get into Arrow long enough to like or dislike anyone. The "acting" done by most of the actors on that show is so bad. It's like watching nickelodean or those cheesy pre-teen Disney shows. Geez. They make Saved by the Bell look like Masterpiece Theatre.

I said goodbye last night. If Andy suddenly reappears in Season 3 and Frank and Andy help each other regain their souls and escape Purgatory, I'll give the show another try. Until then, PEACE.

Geez, that was a steaming pile of crap, Where do I begin? This episode was poorly written, poorly paced, poorly directed, and yeah, I'll say it, poorly acted as well. The fall finale didn't feel epic. It felt cheap and small. Irving is dead (for now), and that makes me mad. I'm maddest though that his death lacked emotional resonance. He's been sidelined all season with a throwaway line here and there about sacrificing for his family, but did we get to see his family? Did we see the impact Macy's demon possession and kidnapping had on her and on Irving's family? Did we the anguish they must be going through knowing that he was imprisoned protecting Macy? No, but we've seen a helluvalot of CFD. Hell, Team Witness diidn't even miss him until a week ago. Now he reemerges just to be killed fighting a demon army of what? Ten? Big Whoop. The moment when Abbie realized that Frank died should have been devastating. Instead, Abbie looked like she couldn't remember where she dropped her keys. Her reaction was lame and weak. I don't know if that was the result of direction or NB's acting choice, but it was much too muted and understated to have much emotional impact. NB delivered a big ole bowl of MEH on that one. Still, at least she got to react. Jenny wasn't even allowed a reaction shot. Tom Mison was just as bad. He still has no chemistry with Katia Winter's Katrina, and, for the first time, he really didn't have it with Abbie either. Season 2 has really taken a toll on the Ichabbie dynamic, and their interactions seemed forced and false to me. In fact, even his usual Crane quips (like his comment about wanting to get a motorcycle) felt forced. Plus, the writers have turned him into a douche. Katia Winter graced us with her usual blank-faced "acting". Yeah, I get it show. The sun rises and sets in tribute to her colossal blandness. She's the show's leading lady and more important than a Witness and her half-assed contributions to Team Witness of witchcraft (even though witchcraft is strictly forbidden by the bible) and inept attempts at spying never work. John Noble, who usually never met a scene he couldn't chew, was unusually restrained last night when a few histrionics may have helped keep the boredom at bay. Henry and his whiny angst and Mommy/Daddy issues have grown more tiresome with each passing week. The endless CFD slows the show's pacing to a crawl, and did I mention that it's endless? I could go on, but why bother. This show effectively ended the moment they decided to make every aspect of the Apocolypse All About Katrina. Stick a forck in SH. It's done.

The Annual American Music Awards - General Discussion
LydiaMoon1 replied to 27bored's topic in The American Music Awards
From what I've observed, Taylor Swift is an awkward performer that can't sing live and she never comes across (to me at least) as being particularly likeable....and yet she's a superstar. I don't get it. -
Oh possibilities, THIS is what I came her to say but you said it so much better. YEP. I think it may be time for me to go.

What's the point of inviting guests to the show if you don't want them to speak?
-
If the rental is willing to give poor, little abandoned Ella some quality time and attention, I'm all for him.

S01.E09: Kill Me, Kill Me, Kill Me
LydiaMoon1 replied to Tara Ariano's topic in How To Get Away With Murder [V]
You know, as much as I want to support a Shonda Rhimes show and a Viola Davis vehicle......I don't really like this show. I don't really like the characters. I'm not crazy about the storytelling. I'm not invested in the murder mystery. I WANT to like it. So far though......I just don't. -
I tend to enjoy discussion boards that critique character actions/motivations, writing/production, and storyline rather than appearance. I try to avoid talking about how a character or actor looks (unless it's something positive). Unless you're in a site where everyone shares the same opinion, conversations about actors looks too often devolve into an ugly back and forth between people defending their faves (at least in my experience). I don't find that kind of thing to be enjoyable and I try to avoid those sites.

I could never bring myself to watch season 4. It's a decision I've never regretted.

So much THIS. While Cyrus may have loved James as much as he is cabable (and that's probably not saying much), I still RME every time he starts waxing poetic about his great love.<gag>

I don't care what anybody says. I love Daddy Pope. He entertains me. I'm beyond tired of GI Joe Jake. I kept hoping that someone would off him. Whoever took Olivia can keep her.

Rather than a lack of development, for me Mercedes' story arc has always been about the contrast between the way she sees herself vs. the way others see her and the limitations and conditions they tried to impose upon her. Mercedes never needed to evolve. She knew who she was from the beginning. So rather than see her change, her storylines, i.e., the competitions for solos in Glee Club, her leaving ND to join the TT, her battles with her record companies, etc. were always about her effort to acheive her dream on her own terms. In many ways Mercedes and Rachel have always been the same character. Both girls held fast to the core belief that they were stars just waiting to happen. The difference was that, until recently, accolades, encouragement, and opportunity almost always went to Rachel while Mercedes was consistently deprived. Still, throughout her journey of loss and disappointment, Mercedes persevered. In this, Glee has been remarkably consistent.
-
Mercedes' attitude has been the same since the pilot when she said: YMMV, but that's why I love her.

Kurt and Santana were ignored? Kurt and Santana???? <snort> Yeah, okay.

THIS. Instead of 'Where's Jenny', I kept thinking during his scenes that Crane is the one who should have been there. ...and so much THIS I can't stand it. I've said all along that Abbie and Jenny are the Witnesses. Otherwise, why would Moloch try so hard to kill them both? He only left them alone after he got their mother out of the way and they became estranged from each other. Now that they are back together, they are a threat. The Mills Sisters and their Mama are sublime. Now to the ridiculous.....Katrina. Soooooo, she mixed up her potion, said her little incantation, walked purposefully around the house to find baby, er, now boy Moloch and what did she do? Absolutely nothing. I actually yelled, "Just throw it on him, dumbass!" at my TV. She is less than useless.
