  1. I was happy to accidentally see this on last night, I saw no promos for it. It was an exciting start, but I got sort of bored by the end. It seemed to have been taped right after the end of the American series, which makes sense so obstacles don't have to be torn down and moved. But it does give an unfair advantage to Team USA. I wish some of the obstacles had been new to them, too. I wonder why people are able to complete the course in this "vs. The World" but not in the regular American competition. The quick clip of the woman stunt actor from London teaming up with Jessie Graf to do "something" looked interesting. I would have liked to have seen more of that. Still, it was refreshing to have the Ninjas back. Matt and Akbar really make this show fun, even when it's not.
  2. Too funny if you had responded, "Yes, I was on the show two months ago and won five games and $123,401. Didn't you see me? I guess I forgot to mention it ..."
  3. Maybe because that was a clue/answer on Jeopardy? ETA: Oh, nuts, @SHD beat me to it. Serves me right for reading from the bottom up.
  4. Melbourne, as already noted above. Melbourne is the capitol of Victoria, Australia, somewhat fittingly if the history is known. It was declared a city by Queen Victoria in 1847, after which it became the capital of the new colony of Victoria in 1851. Lord Melbourne's real name was William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne. Everything is related!
  5. @Driad I have your score as 72 plus 7*. Week 1-5: 17** Week 6-10: 22* Week 11-15: 18** Week 16-20: 15**
  6. You are caught up now. Perhaps you were still on the Antarctic clock for a few days? (I'd like to borrow that excuse if you don't mind.)
  7. Thursday's champ/Friday's returning champ Aaron made me think of Max Headroom. Same jaw line.
  8. Or a Chicago cop who will shoot and kill the perp on sight. Also shot/killed will be a few innocent bystanders. Collateral damage.
  9. WEEK 20 — ONE asterisk * 96. Broadway Musicals. Premiering in 2005, its story is divided into spring, summer, fall, & winter, each narrated by one of the 4 male leads. * 97. Comic Strip Title Characters. These 2 were named for a European “theologian who believed in predestination” & a “philosopher with a dim view of human nature.” 98. 20th Century Literature. The writing of this novel, the author’s first with no Canadian setting, appropriately began in 1984. 99. U.K. Prime Ministers. He was the first U.K. Prime Minister born after Elizabeth II became queen. 100. Law Enforcement History. This U.S. group was formed to protect settlers in an area that had recently gained independence from Spain.
  10. I'm missing your last week's total, Week 19. I have your Weeks 18 and 20 both as 2. Let me know if this is correct.
  11. I liked him very much but was sure he was going to get ranked on here, so "good for me." His manner of speaking didn't bother me in the least. And only one clue left on the board between both games, so he hurt nothing. He had a great interview story and Good For Him for making a nice showing today. I wonder if Steve-O is a fan of Jackass. I was thinking the Guardian Angels for FJ. Of course it's wrong, no need to point and laugh. The Guardian Angels deserve a clue or two. Or whole category. I didn't either but figured it got cut in the edit or Trebek would have been all over his case. No harm, no foul.
  12. I knew Tony Blair (Bush's Poodle!) was a PM, but my problem with FJ was not knowing this Queen Elizabeth is Elizabeth II. I hold some hostility toward the British royals so I didn't care that I missed FJ. Again, my specialties of animals and nature are stumpers for Jeopardy players. Narwhal was a no brainer for me, as was amphibious. It's a toad, folks! Plus who doesn't own the CD, "Songs of the Humpback Whale"? No one? Okay then. "Fall of the House of Usher" had to be a brain synapse skip. I have those so I commiserate with that player.
  13. IMO, Colton's F1 is not necessarily the real winner. Cast-off Rachel got chosen as the b-ette, and other women/men of color are becoming regulars on BIP, thus extending their reality-show face time. Out of 25 contestants, 24 will not be chosen so I don't see why actually getting married has much to do with why people sign up for this franchise. People of races other than Caucasian apply to be on this show ... for whatever reason. Probably not to find "true love," I'm (not) sorry to say. I'd sign up just for the travel opportunities and free vacation, the heck with getting married!
  14. I'll step up to declare myself the stoopidest person on this board since I've never heard of Atwood and did not know The Handmaid's Tale was a book. Yes, I know it's a tv show but have never seen an episode and doubt I ever will. However, I did know FJ was asking for the book's title, not author, so there's that in my defense.
  15. LOL. Orwell is all I could think of as well. I mean come on, 1984. But I didn't even try to shift my brain, my apathy over not knowing FJs lately is overwhelming. Good thing I'm not play the FJ Contest either, I'd be a shoe-in for the Dunce-Cap Prize. Duh, neither did I. I guess I need to remove her name from "Favorite Authors" list.
  16. Oh, but that would put you in contention for one of the many prizes!
  17. Oh, wow, I remember that now too! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. LOL! Gosh, back then it meant something (besides getting to stay) if a person got the group-date rose.
  18. The finger guns cracked me up because that's what we told @teebax to do when she gets on, as an homage to our PTV group. For all we know, Haley posts here. I also laughed at the "... like a fish needs a bicycle" since I thought that hilarious at the time when we were all fighting for the ERA and reading Betty Friedan and Gloria Steinem. We even had t-shirts with that slogan. Funny the clue writers brought that up all these years later. And yes, fish STILL don't need bicycles. What was up with the answer of "snake" getting a BMS? Yeah, the snakes were cobras, but still. BMS is so erratic on this show. I got the TS of thorn from stopping to inspect the trees in the Mohave. You could almost use their thorns as arrows! We got our car stuck in the sand on the road shoulder because I had to stop to see the thorny trees. But that's another story. We had that same billboard! I loved driving past it, it was a favorite childhood memory. Maybe if those billboards were still around, Borden wouldn't have been a TS. I always wondered where the fiberglass Elsie head went after the billboard was taken down. Because I wanted it. I vote a big YES to the "She's/He's my boo" answer. Thumbs up, you boo sayers.
  19. I thought that, but passed on it in favor of the "Yeay." But feel free to give me a Good For You or two. I could use a drink. Or two. Tough week!
  20. That happened in another game not too long ago. The champ didn't wager enough to win if the second-place player had gotten FJ correct. But as luck would have it, the champ got FJ and the others did not. I wonder if John wishes he could have a do over. Hindsight is golden.
  21. I agree Colton is inoffensively boring. I don't have any strong opinion about him, he's just "there" as The Bach. But for all the women squealing over him, that's so they get more screen time, THs and, best of all, online chatter on SM and an invitation to BIP. The louder and crazier they are, the longer they last on this franchise. And people can come back from long-past seasons for another 15 minutes. It's all good for them; maybe not so great for us viewers if we want to take this "process" seriously. *cough* (As if that's possible.) Besides: FREE TRAVEL! Yeay!
  22. How crazy is it that, as a kid, I had a crush on Terry. I couldn't wait for the Sunday paper so I could see my "boyfriend." @Browncoat, your Chinstrap avatar looks like @secnarf's Eeyore, especially when I take off my glasses. I didn't have a tv yesterday (receiver box croaked out) but I put on a new one today so will be able to watch Jeopardy. Yeay for me.
  23. As was I. I'm sad to say I haven't read a comic strip for more than a decade, back when I used to get the Sunday paper and always read the comics page. I do remember strips from my childhood though ... Terry and the Pirates, Lil Abner, Blondie, Family Circus. All comics from Before Your Time.
