There are other ways to do this without resorting to flashbacks Monster of the week flashbacks Michael keeping Dean subdued by sending him on hunts with his brother Glimpses of Dean in fighting Michael To explain Michael going to Sam they could have Michael pretending to leave Dean because he needs access to the bunker for whatever reason. This could be done two ways, by having him pretend to be Dean or by having Michael give Dean control back and wiping him memory that he never really left. Last season even though Cas wasn't in the first five episodes, I felt his presence because of Dean's grief. They could have done something similar. It didn't even have to be big things. It could have been something simple as Mary or Sam looking for coffee and finding none and realizing that's because Dean always makes it. Or Sam pulling out his FBI suit and being a little disappointed because it didn't smell like beer. This way fans are still seeing Dean and the Michael story is still being told in present time.

I was curious and went back through Jason Fischer's boards. He's the guy that posts what scenes they'll be shooting. He said that scenes that are filmed in 2 different locations are coded with a A. So for example if there was a flashback in scene 13 it would be coded scene A13. So I was wanted to check what scenes had this designation. To see when potential flashbacks would be and how many. This doesn't necessary mean that these are all flashbacks because they code phone calls the same way. For exampe If Dean was calling Sam in scene 13, its would be coded 13 for Dean's side and A13 for Sam's (or vise versa) I also don't know if they have other ways to code flashbacks scenes. So no one gets confused this is not a definitive or a concrete list. This is what I found: Episode 3: A7, B23 (I don't know what the B means), A23, and A33 Episode 4: A36 pt 1 Episode 5: A19 Episode 6: A29 Episode 7: A12 Episode 8: 20 Appx D. (no idea what this means, but he did say letters afterwards usually mean cameras). Scripts usually go up to scene 30 - 40. Some can be lower and some higher but 30-40 seems the average. So very probably Dean could end up having a flashback during the final fight in ep 3, 4, and 6. Make of that what you will.

+1000. Dabb made it clear he has Sam on pedestal. This is why I'll never agree that Dabb was showing Sam was wrong when he joined the Brits or that his decision was anything but a major epiphany that he should have been leading all along. I'd bet money that Dabb has no intention of giving the leader role back to Dean but there will be lots more pimping about how Sam is the best leader ever and how Dean his so sorry he held General Sue from his true destiny.

I don't regret wishing to see Jensen play Michael. I've been wanting it since it was dropped in 5.18. There was no written rule that Dabb had to spend more time on Jack and Lucifer. We had 3 scenes Jack getting a pep talks. Anyone of them could have been cut to give more attention to Michael. How satisfying would it have been for Sam fans to watch Sam salt and Burn lucifer's body. Instead of pointlessly bringing him back yet again. How about showing the search for Dean. Open in Atlanta with Sam, Cas, Jack, talking to witnesses. Give us a scene where we see them all reminiscing about Dean and talking about how they miss him. They're are other ways to showcase Sam leading rather than the over the top out of control pimping and having demons run because he said so. This show episode felt just like Dabb said. Get Dean out of the way he stops sucking the oxygen out of the room. There were so many different things Dabb could have done. The entire Michael plot felt shoehorned in. Like Dabb had no interest in.

This is why I want a scene where Michael asks Mary and Sam want they want and calls them out on their "I want Dean back" BS.
-
I feel like the AU people should be putting all their efforts into finding Michael because they want him dead. He destroyed their home and killed their friends. But I guess that doesn't matter when you have hot showers and netflix and General Winchester telling you want to do.

She's Dabb's assistant.

It's too bad the Alpha vamp is dead. Imagine Jensen working with Rick Worthy again. But since lore is out the window lets bring him back.
-
I would too. This is why the show sucks. No one will actually step up and criticize. This is what I feel trying to hard looks like.
-
Or that he has any respect for Dean or Jensen. He admitted to getting rid of Dean so other characters can breath. It felt like he did the same with Jensen. To bad it sucked for him, because Jensen was the only standout in this episode. JP looked so awkward trying to play Dean. Seriously, why can't the show just let Sam be Sam. Dabb sucks

Can I like this a 1000 times

That's going to be hard to tackle in one episode. This isn't new. Lore has never mattered.
-
That end, it felt like Dabb went "oh crap. I forgot about Michael. I better throw something in there. Um...I know vampire. Yeah. That's it vampires." I wonder if Dabb deliberately trashed this ep, because if he thought it was good. It's the only explanation I got. That was weird how there was no promo

Because she needs to rat out Michael so Sam can best an arch angel

I agree with @gonzosgirrl This episode was a hot mess. I wanted to feel Dean's presence by his absence. Instead I felt like everyone was going through the motions and at times seemed annoyed. Especially Mary. Sorry Sam Smith, I didn't by Mary's concern at all. I thought Jared looked awkward through this whole thing. They need to stop trying to turn Sam into Dean. Dean's lines don't work when Jared speaks them. That whole scene with the demons was beyond ridiculous as was the over the top Sam pimping. If it wasn't' for a literal "oh look Shiny" moment Sam would have lost that fight. So why were the demons afraid? They have powers and the one person in Sam's group that did was tied up. Since when do demons need permission to do demon things or since when do demons listen to people yelling at them. It's not a badass moment when you have to force a situation so badly. It was about as badass a somone taking candy from a baby. Sam and Dean could have saved themselves a whole mess of trouble if they only knew demons could be handled so easily simply by yelling at them. We need Crowley back. Then maybe demons won't be so stupid. Even though Jensen probably had about 5 minutes of screen time he stole the show. There was no trace of Dean in that performance whatsoever. I like the way Jensen carries himself as Michael. He knows he's superior and regal. It's good that Jensen reminded Dabb to let us see some of Michael's powers. He was the only good thing about this ep. Cas just lying there while he was beat up. - dumb No one untying Cas so he could help- even dumber Bringing Jack along- dumber than dumb . This is why Sam isnt' a leader. They have to make the unpopular opinion sometimes. It's not mean if they tell Jack he can't come, especially if he's going to be a liability. Sam seemed more worried about Nick then he did about Dean. Why do we have to have him back? Why? Cas was there when they used the Magic Egg. Sam gave it to Cas. Why is Ketch in London looking for it and why did Sam have to explain what it is. Vampires. Really? They form families, communities, hold jobs, and care about their own. Some don't want to harm humans. If Michael know everything Dean does than he should know this. I doubt Dabb put any thought in this at all. If I had to describe this ep in one one it would be Stupid. I knew Dabb didn't care, but I didn't think he didn't care this much. He brought it to an art form.

Ratings And Scheduling: I Can't Do This Alone
ILoveReading replied to kimrey's topic in Supernatural
Ratings might be affected by the Hurricane. There are a lot of people without power. I don't think I've ever seen a scene with so little season premier promotion. One 30 second promo, a handful of photos, one video that came from BTS, and an couple of interviews. Not exactly a ringing endorsement. -

These Spoilers Suck: Bitter Speculation About SPN Spoilers

It seems like the majority of the Michael storyline is done through tell, and off screen during the 3 week time jump. Dean is actually back by episode 3. So at most we bet about an episode and a half to two eps of Michael with a few flashbacks. It seems like ultimately its going to end up shorter than Demon Dean in regards to actual screen time. It honestly feels like episode 4 should be reversed in terms in of the brothers. With ghosts and witches out on Halloween I would have thought it would put Dean more on the defensive. Sam was the the brother that wanted normal and trick or treating is considered normal. As for the slasher flicks, Sam is the one with the serial killer fetish. Wouldn't he be more interested in Jason, Freddie, and Michael (Halloween guy) than Dean? It seems like the writers doesn't even know the characters. -
Is it too early to ask where Jensen's emmy is?
