  1. Considering that the show was created and executive produced by Will Forte, its not too likely that if it gets renewed , he will remove himself from the show. I do agree he needs to tone down his Tandy personality. I'm confused by all the posters talking about Mike returning. I thought past season the indication was that he had the virus, and Tandy went and found him at his home and left him to die there at Mike's request. Does everyone think he survived?
  2. Late to this thread as I just now binge watched the entire series, but I wanted to share a few thoughts. GA did play Stella as if she were sleepwalking. I think it was a deliberate acting choice on her part to show Stella as a deep thinking "Poirot's little gray cells" detective. Her quiet demeanor also IMO was intended to show us that she had a difficult past to overcome. GA played Dana Scully on X Files at times the same way at times depending on what was going on with her character, but not always. I've also seen her in other roles where she was very different from Stella. Personally, I think the acting was stellar. Dornan was almost unrecognizable to me as the "sheriff" on OUAT. Whomever played Burns (sp) did a terrific job of portraying someone who has seen so much in his career that he is unable to cope without alcohol which quickly got out of hand. The various police officers and clinic workers were very good as were the arrogant attorney and his legal cohort, and of course Dr. Larson and the ER doctor. And, holy cow did Merlin grow up and fill out! He grew into his ears and is quite dishy now. As to Specter and whether or not his amnesia was real or faked, I agree with whomever said, it was faked the entire time or at least Dornan played it that way. His expressions when he was alone or looking at himself in the mirror indicated to me that he not only remembered everything but was playing a long con game. He killed himself because he realized he had lost the game. Things turned around quickly once they proved he killed the woman that David Alvarez was in prison for killing. I agree with those who say that last conversation with Stella made him realize that the game was over, hence his angry violent outburst. I don't see the need for another season, and I just read that X Files was renewed for another season which means GA will be busy with that for awhile. I do wish they had told us what had happened to little Liam and why Olivia was in foster care instead of with her maternal grandparents.
  3. Hawaa is the PC contestant and while I did think some of her looks were creative, Kelly Osborne has never met a PC cause she doesn't champion! And as someone said last week, it seemed at times as if her opinion was the one that really mattered the most like Heidi in regular PR. Therefore, I was confident that Hawaa would win. I was pleasantly surprised with the finale even though I really thought Chris had the stronger final collection. Throughout the season though I think Chelsea was stronger, so I was fine with either of them winning. What still disappoints me is that Hawaa got a place in the final over Molly, and that she got 3rd place over Izzy who's collection was a bit boring but had cohesion and a couple of very strong looks, and she did much better during the competition than Hawaa. Hawaa getting 3rd over Izzy must have been due to Kelly O's influence IMO. Lovely to see Peytie again. Still think she is more talented than all of this season's contestants!
  4. Gabriel Byrne played Mr. Bhaer in Little Women along with Winonna Ryder back in 1994. I love that version and watch it every Christmas. Rufus Sewell isn't in that particular film. I would love to see him play that role however. Back to Victoria, I keep hoping Tom Hughes will grow on me as Albert, but I still feel the actor playing Ernst would have been better suited to play Albert--he looks more like him too. Hughes Albert is too emo and his halting whispery line deliverance drives me crazy!
  5. Thank you Finnishviewer! I confess I really wasn't paying much attention when they went the the art exhibit. I can usually multitask while watching and still follow whats going on, but clearly I should have been paying more attention during this episode.
  6. As usual I was grading homework while watching this episode, so I came here hoping for a recap of the show. No luck there, so can someone paying full attention please explain how Chloe was saved? Lucifer went to hell to get the instructions for an antidote from the professor which he obtained. What was the item then that Ella and Dan wanted and got from her brother and what did it have to do with saving Chloe? Add me to the list of viewers that doesn't see much chemistry between Lucifer and Chloe. I love them as partners and friends but just don't buy them as lovers. Good episode though and I didn't realize it was mid season finale until I read it here. Frankly, I'm growing tired of all these "breaks" on network TV. It is difficult to keep track of plotlines with multiple weeks in between episodes.
  7. Fire up Chips! My youngest son is currently a freshman at CMU. Lots of criticism for Izzy here. It bothers me when kids are criticised for being too twee or immature. IMO kids are forced to grow up way too quickly these days. Let them act like kids when they are kids! Now last seasons winner, Erin, is a different story. Her childish actions were not cute at her age. I hope Izzy continues to do well whether she wins or not, and I'm sure your son and her other friends are supportive of Izzy's fashion aspirations.
  8. Definitely! And Aya kept saying it was fashion forward. I was talking to my TV saying "No, its fashion backward" since that was a popular look in the 50s. I did love it though, and probably would have given her the win! I think Allie is very talented. Hawaa's look was different but I hated the solid black bodice and yellow strappy pieces on the shoulders. Chelsea is a sweetheart but those fireman overalls should habe landed her in the bottom imo. Izzy is a favorite of mine, and I think her sprout is cute-very Dr Seuss. She is also from Mt. Pleasant Michigan where both of my sons and daughter in law went to college at Central Michigan University. Its a small town in the upper part of the lower peninsula without a great deal of arts despite the presence of the university. Good for her that she is so creative! I also thought her dress should have been safe even though it didn't much hit the brief. Agree with those who say either Chris, Tieler, or A'Kai should have been in the bottom if no other reason than being too basic and again not fitting the brief as they all were very daytime. Loved Molly's look--i would have put it in the top. All in all Rene probably should have gone a week or two ago.
  9. Johnny is American not Italian. I'm sure you mean he is of Italian ancestry, but it irks me when people forget that nationality is different from heritage. Stollen is very popular in the Midwest and not just with people of German ancestry.
  10. Maybe my dislike of the Randall character has influenced my opinion, but while I think Sterling is doing a fine job acting, i don't see where he's all that great. I think most of the actors are doing a good job with their characters. I'm particularly impressed with Mandy Moore and Justin Hartley. Mandy has mostly done romcoms and Hartley usually plays a shallow pretty boy. Both have shown some real acting range. This may be a dumb question, but who is Skyler White?
  11. I can't stand Beth. She is too outspoken and direct to the point of rudeness especially to Randall's family. The way Randall brought up finding the letter at William's place at Thanksgiving dinner was so disrespectful of everyone at that dinner table. I am not getting the love fest for Randall and Beth--they are both wound way too tightly for me! I wish the show would spend more time on Kate's new job and her boss and her overweight daughter.
  12. Private piano and voice teacher here and I have to disagree. My children even as infants were accustomed to music in the house even when they were sleeping. Haven't you heard that parents aren't supposed to keep quiet when babies are sleeping? Most pediatricians agree that its best to keep your home life normal and not tiptoe around sleeping children. If you are quiet while they are sleeping, they are more likely to develop sleep issues. Obviously one doesn't make loud startling noise but the soft piano and singing she was doing was probably something the children were accustomed to hearing. Also, I adore Mandy Moore, and as the biggest celeb in the cast, I expect some pandering to her ego as they did by having her sing.
  13. I don't want to argue theology here but I completely disagree that the Bible says angels have no free will. Lucifer and the other angels clearly made a choice to try to become equal to God. Jude 1:6 talks about Lucifer deliberately rejecting Gods authority. Rebellion is defined as the act of disobedience to a higher authority. Free will is defined by the ability to choose. Now how the show chooses to interpret this issue we will have to wait to find out;-)
  14. I would too! I like Chloe as a foil for Lucifer, but I don't like the idea of a romance between them, and I don't really care about Dan at all. The show could drop him easily. Elle is funny and, so far at least, they haven't tried to paint her as a religious fanatic. They also seem to have good chemistry. Great to see "Jeff" from "Chuck" again as the HR baddy. Although he really didn't get much screen time. I think this is the first time I seen him in anything since Chuck left the air. Oh, "Jeffster" was just so much fun. I miss that show, but this one has the same wacky humor blended with some seriousness.
  15. According to the bible, angels have no free will. The sin of Lucifer was not that he wanted to rule heaven but that he wanted to be free to choose what to do. Basically, rebellion against the will of god being automatically overruling his own. According to the Bible, it was because Lucifer saw himself as equal to or greater than God, and encouraged his supporters to feel the same way and tried to usurp God as the ultimate authority. As I stated in my earlier post, I'm thinking the show isn't going to go down the theological path too deeply, but it does have some interesting undertones as to Father/son relationships. Isaiah 14:12 How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! 13 You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. [3] 14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High."
  16. Did they air episode 4 in the US? I looked for it this Sunday evening on PBS, but there wasn't an episode shown in the Chicago area. I don't see anything here either about it. Does anyone know when it will air? I needed my Sunday night fix of Ross Poldark!
  17. Not sure yet what I think of the casting of Tricia Helfer as "mum", but I don't quite understand what you mean about her accent going in and out. Helfer is Canadian and from what I can recall from watching interviews with her, she doesn't have much of an accent. Also, I thought they did a good job of getting all the characters a bit of screen time this episode, even Trixie who was missed in the season 2 premiere. As for Amandiel using one of Lucifer's feather for healing being part of the disintegration of his heavenly body, that's a really interesting idea. Unfortunately, I don't think this show will dig that deep into the theology to go that route. I hope I'm wrong about that because as much as I love the comic parts of the show (Tom Ellis has great comedic chops--I've watch "Miranda" over and over), I do like when they dig a bit deeper into the theology of Lucifer and his expulsion from heaven.
  18. Another Hoosier here and totally agree about the corduroy jackets, the look of the science teacher, and that most small towns in midwest had a place where people dumped their junk. Steve's hair isn't that odd to me except that it should be parted in the middle and a tad longer at the back of the neck. Those leather trench coats were very popular in the late 70s and early 80s and I think Joyce might very well have worn one to her sons funeral. She doesn't seem to be a conforming small town mother who would care what anyone thought at all. I've just gotta say in reference to the reviewer's comment that Hawkins Lab looks like many buildings at Indiana State and Indiana University's Bloomington campus that I feel the need to defend IU. The Bloomington campus is made up of mostly Gothic style limestone buildings. There arent many of the concrete and chrome monstrosities like Hawkins in Bloomington. Indiana State on the other hand does have a lot of that type of building. I'm enjoying the show tremendously but the thing that bugs me the most about it isn't something out if context with 1983, it's that its supposed to be mid November and the trees are full of mostly green leaves!
  19. I'm enjoying this enormously. Other than GoT, this summer has been pretty abysmal as far as TV goes. The stellar reviews brought me to watch this show, and it hasn't disappointed. Yes its silly that Mike's parents don't hear the boys practically yelling at Eleven and his mom apparently never cleans her basement, but sci-fi usually requires some suspension of belief. I like Winona Ryder and to be fair, has the script so far given her much to do other than whine and cry? An actor can only do so much with the material given!
  20. I am an avid mystery reader, and while I figured that Kyle and his mother tied into the "Circle" story somehow, I did not see the twist of Kyle's mother being the ring leader coming. I love how this show constantly changes the relationship dynamics by pairing up different characters as well as changing the mystery each season. Zoila and Adrian as well as Rosie and Genevieve are pairings I would never have thought to put together but I'm enjoying both relationships enormously. As for Danni, there is a lot of disliking the young female characters on this show. Valentina got so much grief from this board. Valentina's accent bugged me as it didn't match up with Zoila having a different accent, but overall her character and her plot didn't bother me. I feel the same about Danni. The show has always given Carmen a weak plot line, and I think having her explore the relationship with her daughter is a bit deeper than she usually gets. I hope Danni is back soon.
  21. This show is such a guilty pleasure for me. As much as I love darker shows like Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, and The Americans, I do love this campy cliche filled soap! Agree that it was obvious that Adrien could walk, that Zoila couldn't possibly be just fine, that Marisol was still hung up on Jesse, and that Mister Spence would get his memory back. Obvious is kind of the point on a show like this though! Disagree that Daniela is a Carmen look alike. She was styled to look like her but was about a foot shorter and doesn't have those killer cheekbones and prominent cleft chin that Rosalyn Sanchez has. I also didn't find her or her accent nearly as annoying as Valentina. With all the talk here about the weakest link acting wise, it made me chuckle as during the emotional scene between Zoila and Genevieve, I thought to myself "Wow, Judy Reyes just showed Susan Lucci how its done!" On a last shallow note, its always nice to see Ryan McPartlin and his gorgeous smile. I miss Chuck!
  22. As a former pastor's wife, it sounds like you're implying that a preacher's wife is too simple to think of the idea of making a tape as a safeguard-ouch! But, I do agree with you that I'm fairly certain Phillip said that the office bugs didn't pick up anything about Alice making a tape and leaving it with a lawyer. Doesn't mean she didn't make a tape at all though. I think that "tape" may come back to haunt the Jennings.
  23. Agree with everything you said. I wish a streaming network or even a cable network would pick this up and explore those possibilities in a second season. Fox (and all the big networks) are too quick to cancel shows. Sad that FOX gave Scream Queens a second season (and it is truly awful), but couldn't give The Grinder or Grandfathered time to build an audience.
  24. At the end of this week's episode, what did the note say? Kirsten looked all tense and then the camera faded out. I agree that this hunt for her mother/father is boring. Not enjoying the Liam story line at all. This show was better last season.
  25. Nah, I didn't see any amazing chemistry there either. I got into this show right from the start in part because of the amazing chemistry between Keri and Matthew. Any other relationships their characters have had have suffered IMO by comparison. The relationship between Elizabeth and Gregory never seemed believable to me. Everyone is so concerned that Martha will die--I didn't realize that she had become so popular! I like Martha, and I think Alison Wright is doing some tremendous acting, but I don't think that having Martha die will be any worse than Nina dying. The only difference is that Nina had a much larger role in the first two seasons, but was sidelined for the last two. As an audience, our attachment to her had lessened by the time she was killed. Martha, is the opposite, in that her role has grown as the seasons progressed. From the time she planted the pen in Gaad's office, though, I've figured that betrayal would get her killed. It will be sad to lose the character and actress, but I don't really see where else her story can go at this point. We already know from Nina's story that trying to keep another plot going where Martha is in Moscow won't work. I don't think Martha is stable enough to become any type of double agent. Unless they are so disgusted with Phillip's behavior that they ship him off with Martha to Moscow and then we follow two separate stories next season-- Elizabeth and kids in US and Phillip and Martha in USSR. Now that would be a twist!
