Heh, why get bogged down with facts and details when you're in the middle of a good self-righteous musing. Being "the hero and the good person over all of this" is not an easy task so let's cut the little darling some slack, 'kay?. Yes, she's the "good person" in all of this vs those big, bad meanies who just don't know how to behave. *eyeballs rolling right out of my head just about now. Kindly return them if you bump into them in your travels*

maggiemae, I agree that 5 is too many, so 6 is just ridiculous. But I doubt all six will see the year out anyway. The revolving door at The View has been in heavy use for the past few years and I doubt this year will be any different. They are trying to catch and hold onto something that is long gone. The View had it's day but the sun has set on it and they really need to pack up their tents and steal away into the night. (And I am sad to say that as I LOVED this show for so many years). I am happy though that Joy is back (the only reason for me to watch anymore at all) and will be doing the moderation on Fridays. Maybe someone can look past their ego, tune in and see how it should be done.
-
Can you remember where you saw this? It's been my understanding that Joy came back as a full time co-host and they will, indeed, have six at the table (which is way, way too many) and then a group of rotating contributors. I can't find anything that says Joy is back only as a fill in as needed.

I thought this while watching the scene in "The Gathering" where Geordie dies in Dougal's arms after being gored by the wild boar. The last shot showing the whole hunting group was framed magnificently. It took my breath away.

Ricky (or should I really say his fans) came back strong, and I mean STRONG, in the final hours of his last race so no one can rest easy cause until we see Sam's gorgeous ass cross that finish line first. Right up until the final second, it's still game on! Sending Cait some love as well.

Hmph, Imagine this. A talk show that has no desire to illicit conversation and decides providing a place for their viewers to comment on their daily offerings is being axed. And the reason being...oh wait, they didn't give a reason. Yeah, that's the best way to treat your loyal viewers and say thanks for your support all these years. Of course with all the insane decisions of late, this should come as no surprise. Just add this to the list of bonehead, incomprehensible, utterly moronic moves that are becoming the hallmark of this once beloved show! I guess Whoopi can stop telling the audience to stop sending dissenting comments, complaints, et al. ABC and The View's execs are doing it for her. Unbelievable!

I wish I could say I'm surprised but I'm not. These types of shows rarely get recognized and often nominations go to the "same ole, same ole" each and every year. I mean I was a huge Downton Abbey fan but, IMO, It's well past the day when it deserved a nod. And Homeland got back on track last year but, again IMO, there were many more shows that surpassed it in writing, directing and acting. One of those shows was Outlander. There are so many stellar talents on this show that deserve recognition and I fear it's going to be a long time coming, if ever. Congrats to Bear McCreary for his nomination. Well deserved for his extraordinary work on the show. Too bad the talents of others, in acting, writing, directing, costume design etc. were not as fortunate to have their contributions rewarded with a nod.

Well in all fairness, they may not have realized just how uneducated and ignorant truly Sherri was. I mean with all the bonehead decisions The View execs have made in the past few years, one can easily question the extent of their intellect, common sense and reasoning skills. How do we know they didn't believe the world was flat as well? To list but a few of their many glorious decisions, they give Baba a painful, year long farewell, they hire Jenny McCarthy (really people) and they keep Whoopi "I don't care" Goldberg not only in a job but in the moderators chair steering the ship. So yeah, I'm giving TPTB the side-eye and asking, "why, you morons, why?".

I watched the clip on youtube and was royally insulted by Whoopi's performance. Dan Abrams takes her by the hand and walks her through the legalities of it all so we, WE, could all understand the situation. Guess what Whoopi, WE didn't need any hand holding. WE didn't need someone talking to us like we were an uneducated child. WE watched and listened and read the reports on Bill Cosby over many, many months. WE, people who have at least two working brain cells to rub together, got it when each and every time this case was discussed it was mentioned that due to a statute of limitations, it was unlikely that Bill Cosby would ever be brought to trial. We, people who have intelligence, empathy or sound reasoning skills, looked at the preponderance of evidence and at the very least had doubts of his innocence. The release of part of an old deposition bashed any doubt that Bill Cosby drugged women in order to have sex with them. His own words state that he did. WE, get it. WE got it all along. Nice to see you've finally got your head out of your ass and are getting it too. But have you really changed your tune? Or is it just that your livelihood and reputation are taking a huge beating with no end in sight? Methinks, the powers that be told you to chill and shut the fuck up with the defense stance. Too bad the scriptwriters for this little skit weren't better. Too bad you weren't a good enough actress to rise above such sub par material and sell it anyway. Eh, I guess I just don't care - about you or about your screwed up views of so, so many things!

That was very kind and thoughtful of you. Thanks ever so much. :-)

They mention Emma Thompson in the article. She is completely nuts so she would be up for anything. I would love to see Helen Mirren. And getting any of the Python gang would be nirvana for me. Maybe Graham Norton could do a travelling medieval talk show with the most popular minstrels/entertainers of the time.

I have no idea what they were smoking. Chris Hemsworth is very, very nice to look at and I like him well enough. Yes, he's tall and well built. He plays a cartoon god well and he gave a decent performance in "Drive". But Sam is a far superior actor. And you just have to watch "Snow White and The Huntsman" to see how dodgy Hemsworth's Scottish accent was. He played a better Scot than Costner did a Brit (Prince of Thieves was not his finest hour) but that's not saying much. No, casting a tall, handsome, well built Scot who could act extremely well was definitely the right decision. Sam has been nothing short of amazing. Really the whole cast is stellar and I'm thrilled with ALL of the choices made.

Let's try to market this: media, articles and interviews

Okay this is alternate universe stuff, right? Otherwise, dayum, am I out of step with the masses. -
Not the first time. Just look back a few years ago to "Argo" that not only won for the screenplay but won for Best Picture. Talk about manipulation of history. *just call me a bitter Canadian. Although the Brits and Australians came off truly badly in the "story"* It's entertainment. We all have to realize that and accept that they are often not worried about accuracy.

Heh! From my observation of her limited intelligence level and skewed/very slight (to the point of being almost imperceptible) insight into political/world affairs/social issues, my guess is she thinks those "two doofuses" are the modern day equivalent of Huntley and Brinkley (showing my age).
-
But she didn't say working was too stressful. She said her work at The View was too stressful. She said there was a lot of stuff going on there and at home and that she could at least minimize her stress at work (turning it down to zero) by leaving. The View was, obviously, not a happy or healthy environment for her so she took steps to remedy what was an intolerable situation. We may never hear the list of complaints and why do we have to? For me it's enough to know that she found a situation potentially damaging to her health (physically and mentally) and she took action to lessen her stress and give herself the time and energies to deal with issues elsewhere.

S29.E11: Kind Of Like Cream Cheese (11) / Still Holdin' On (12)
onthebrink03 replied to Tara Ariano's topic in Survivor
If they've got the numbers, Jon could whine and complain and stamp his feet and then ultimately have to suck it up. I really think they missed an opportunity tonight and sending Alec home was a wasted move. Vote out Jaclyn tonight with a vote of Nat, Baylor, Alec and Keith (which was the plan for Jon). And they have the numbers to move in on Jon another day. I doubt Keith or Alec would flip to align with Jon as he is a bigger challenge threat and Keith and Alec would never think that a girl could best them so they'll go where they think they can dominate. Once Jon is gone (assuming he doesn't go on an immunity run) then Nat and Baylor team up with Missy to oust whoever remains of the Moronic Duo. Nat wants a final three of herself, Missy and Baylor. They are the perfect goats and a win would be a slam dunk for her. I think she just put a huge target on her back! -
Also didn't Wes, in the video on the way to Ponderosa say he told his father not the freak out over anything that was said, not say anything and stick to the plan? EVERYONE told Keith what the plan was, his son told him to zip it and he still could not help himself. He is a moron and I say that knowing full well that I am probably insulting morons everywhere sticking him in with that group. Reed didn't look bad. He did his part, Keith let everyone down (especially his poor son who got sent home). It's sad that Reed, who knows the game and has shown some real skill will probably go home soon because he inherited an idiot as an alliance mate and there was little chance of breaking into the other in a significant position.

Great day to be an Outlander fan. The brief preview has really whetted my appetite and I will be ravenous by the time April comes along. I love that the fans rallied and brought home two wins for the show in the TV Guide competition. Every little bit helps to raise the show's profile, hopefully tweaking interest and bringing in new fans. And WatchrTina, I've voted a bit in that BBC poll. I think it's quite important to show support there as England and Scotland are still dragging their feet in buying and airing it. This final battle is becoming quite nasty with disparaging comments being made about Sam and the fandom often but the fans are keeping it classy. He's doing well but the Tennant fans are a determined lot so it ain't over till it"s over. Cait is killing it right now but I suspect it will get tougher as the field narrows.

Ditto with the PM request, please and thank you. What can I say, I'm a spoiler ho! I think we have a spoiler thread also.
