So the judges get upset with Edmond for taking a risk, and they get upset for Candace for playing it safe. This is, first and foremost, a TV show and the goal is to get people to watch it. I can see how it would be important for them to have as much variety as possible in the Fashion Week collections that get shown on TV. Though Ashley has been on the bottom many times, she would have had to be absolutely horrendous to not make it to fashion week. I think she is the only designer in the history of PR that would want to do a plus size collection at fashion week. Based on my 2 minute search, Fashion week was September 10-17, 2015. Not at the end of the PR season. Lifetime apparently wants the finale to be during a sweeps month (November). Aube is a great model, but I am not sure that most designers would want to design for Aube's curves. There have been plenty of comments over the years by designers not knowing what to do with "boobies." There is a reason why most models are stick thin. Actually, given how thin most models are, the fact that Aube has breasts makes her the closest thing to a plus size model the show has (she is in no way plus-size, of course) I don't remember the prior seasons nearly as well as many other posters, so I may be wrong on this, as no one else has mentioned it, but I thought that there was one instance where the designer got her final hugs and was told by Tim to pack up and then the next week started off with Tim making an announcement in the workroom that he felt bad ever since he sent her home, so he decided to use his save and bring her back. I think Heidi is using "anomymous" in its simplest definition - no one told the judges the names. There is no way they don't know who designed what this late in this season.

S09.E05: The Perspiration Implementation
needschocolate replied to PinkRibbons's topic in The Big Bang Theory [V]
As much as the guys dislike Kripke, I don't ever remember them making fun of his speech, even behind his back. It is nice that they don't, but it is surprising. They make fun of each other so they certainly enjoy that sort of humor. I think Lorre and Co. kept thinking of creepy pervert loser jokes (which are never funny, IMO) and since Howard is married and Two and a Half Men is no longer on, they changed Stuart into a creepy pervert loser. They seem to toy with the idea of turning Raj into one, as he verged on creepy when he was looking for a girlfriend. -

Well, Courtney can't remember to eat, she can't remember to brush her teeth, it is not surprise that she can't remember the names of any designers. -
I agree that the chairs are not all that important, but the winning tribe also got snacks and refreshments. Second place only got a tarp, which is very important, but I was hoping second place would at least a bag of Fritos and a Pepsi (need to have product placement).

I am fine with any of the 3 winning (or even having Scott come back and win), but I am rooting for Nora because she has been the most consistently good. I don't think that Even is getting the "underdog comes back to win edit" or that Nora is getting the "We want you to think she wins but she doesn't" edit. This show does a crappy job of being a typical reality competition show, which is one of the reasons it is my favorite. The contestants get along and support each other, there is no drama, none of the judges are the mean judge, and, if you listen to the judges comments, it is usually pretty obvious who wins and who goes home. They just aren't good at the mind games and drama-creating-crap that other shows do, so I don't think that there is any hidden meaning behind the editing. About the only thing that this show does that is typical of its genre, is the "and the winner is..." cut to commercial - but, like I mentioned, the winner is usually obvious if you have listened up to that point, so they don't even get the "suspenseful winner announcement" correct.

It is not "artisan" and there is nothing fancy about it, but I think Costco pizza is very tasty. I think it tastes better than Dominos or Pizza Hut or most other chains out there. It is certainly better than any frozen pizza I have ever eaten. I know you can't really judge the taste of food this way, but I can't imagine that the $5 Table 87 pre-cooked pizza slice would taste over three times better than the $1.50 freshly cooked, hot out of the oven Costco pizza slice (assuming that your Costco is busy enough that the pizza is not sitting out for a while). UPDATE: I went to Costco today and decided I should give their pizza a taste test - hadn't had a slice in at least a year. The price is $1.99, not $1.50. It was room temp by the time I got home, unloaded the groceries, and finally ate some of it. I thought it tasted good. I doubt the Table 87 pizza is 2 and a half times as good, and am positive it isn't 20 times as good, if you add in the shipping. -

Plus, an express pass is like an insurance policy when there is a u-turn, unless one team is stupid enough to use up their u-turn just to make sure someone else uses up their express pass. And, while I think that the Texans used their EP on the roadblock to make sure that they got to the detour, and u-turn, first (which would be better accomplished by using the EP on the detour. They should have though about the fact that they are the strongest team (at least they think they are) and that other teams my want to target them by u-turning them. If they have to do the detour and they don't finish first, they might have to do both detours. -

I think that Kevin's royalty scheming and his loan shark ways (I will loan you money and you pay it back with 200% interest) are only part of the reason why no one takes his deal. The other part is how he treats people, usually. Who wants to do a deal with a guy who is looking for different ways to call you stupid if you come up with an idea that he doesn't agree with? Not only is Kevin obnoxious, he is also un-self-aware - telling Mark to stay out of the discussion if he has said he's out, yet Kevin often interrpts other sharks and berates entrepreneurs after he has said he was out. My husband was wondering why the Sharks were so annoyed/surly with the potty seat guy and so nice and friendly with everyone else who made a pitch. Some of the other ideas were just as much of a solution to a non-problem. I think it was because the potty guy was so (over)prepared that he came across as disingenuous - he was too polished. It is good to research the sharks, but you shouldn't make it so obvious that you read up on them. Instead of saying that you are just like Mark because you sold whatever as kid, just tell them you sold whatever as a kid and let Mark think "he sounds like me" on his own. Costco sells a huge (700 calories) slice of pizza for $1.50. I guess if you are wealthy investors, you don't mind spending $14 on a slice of pizza and dessert. At the school I work at, one of the kindergarten toilets is smaller and the others are normal size. All of the toilets used by first-sixth graders are standard size. I have never heard of a kid falling in. -

I haven't seen anyone else mention this, so maybe the sound on my TV was out of sync, but it seemed to me that no one who was lip-syncing in the video was even remotely close to mouthing the actual words. Nyle came the closest, and Tyra was the worst. It was like they were lip-syncing to a different song. -
The wooden accessories and the sock on the month club seem like "gifts for the man you don't know what to give." Tired of giving your father/boss/brother-in-law/etc a tie for Christmas or his birthday? Give him a wooden bow tie or a new pair of socks every month. I don't see either one having much repeat business - who would say "Gee, I really liked the wooden tie my son gave me, I think I will buy another one" or "Gosh, now that the subscription has run out, I miss getting a new pair of socks every month, I think I will join up again." Maybe once business dies down, they can join forces and people can get a pair of wooden socks every month. Pledge? Or, if it is particularly dirty, Murphy's Oil Soap. I wonder how often it needs refinishing. Did it make your nose feel waxy? While they were giving there pitch, all I could think of is that your nose would be waxy afterward.

Past Winners and Other Alums: Where Do Their Careers Go Post-Show?

Well, I have spent too much time on the internet trying to find out if it is the same person, but I think that Alana is one of the commentators on FYI's Style Unzipped. Style Unzipped is a fun look at the origins of some fashion items and the "cast" comments on what they think of those items and how to wear them. The one who I think is Alana is not on of the more prominent commentators and is not listed in any cast list I could find. Here is a picture from Style Unzipped - Is this Alana? -
Halloween Wars - General Discussion
needschocolate replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Halloween Wars
I agree with everyone else - Not sorry to see buttercream lady go and I thought the mirror with the hands coming out of it should have won. I am going to assume that the mirror that won looked better in person, was better done from a technically aspect, or was more difficult to make. I enjoy these competition shows more if I make myself believe the judges are being honest and are not voting based on what outcome they think makes for better TV. I used to watch Cupcake Wars with my daughter and we noticed that every week someone would have to throw out the batter, then there would be a commercial, then they replay the batter tossing, followed by some variation of "I don't know if we will get done on time!" We never watched live, so as soon as someone would complain that there was something wrong with the batter, we would both say "Time to throw out the batter" and then hit the fast-forward button to skip the commercial. -
True, but the challenge wasn't about using technology to adapt to whatever catastrophe they survived. Maybe I misunderstood your original post, but I thought you were saying that it was wrong for the artists to make changes to the basic anatomy, and my point was the challenge was to have the humans evolve due to some sort of change in the environment and that, even though in reality humans may not change much that quickly, the artists probably would have gotten marked down for not making big changes, like giving humans gills.

I enjoyed this episode, although I felt AA did a terrible job of acting in in his crying scenes - too OTT. I don't like Ruby, but I suppose I am not supposed to. Ruby (the character, not the actress) is so unpleasant and I would hate to have her be my m-i-l or be a grandmother to my children.
-
True, but real life humans haven't had to adapt to the changes that were given in the challenges. Plus, I think the judges would have kicked off anyone who sent out a make-up that looked like us now and said that "four million years didn't change us much, I don't think that a couple of hundred (thousand?) years would make much difference, so I all I did was lower his eyebrows and give him more facial hair.

The dancers leave, but I don't think we heard them say anything this week about having 5 jobs and living in their car, and I don't think we heard Mom&Son talk about how she didn't speak to him after she found out he was gay, but we had to suffer through the cheerleaders telling us they are athletes. Now, I have never been a cheerleader nor have I known any professional cheerleaders, so cheerleaders may certainly be athletes, but I don't care, I don't want to hear about it anymore. I get that these repeated comments/stories are probably in answer to questions from the TAR staff, but those cheerleaders need to find a different way to answer them. A few seasons ago, a lot of people disliked the Afghanimals because they were "Mugging for the camera all the time." I didn't have a problem with them and felt that their "mugging" was just them enjoying the race (picking up the locals was rude though) and theat they were probably rather fun-loving guys outside the race too. However, I dislike Justin because he is mugging for the camera all the time. Looking straight into the camera to make any joke he can think of. I haven't seen anyone mention this, so maybe I got it wrong, but I thought I saw Justin dance with one of the locals, not as a requirement, just as a a way to get camera time. I can see how someone else might feel that what I see as "mugging" is really Justin "enjoying the race." I saw it that way with the Afghanimals, so why don't I see it that way with Justin? Perhaps because the Afghanimals joked around together and played off each other. Diana never laughs at Justin's jokes or antics, Diana never joins in with Justin's "fun." Not a fan of the Texans either - too cocky, and because they are doing well despite doing foolish things like their "get Justin tunnel vision." I wouldn't be surprised if James Earl just said he was gay so that his mother would stop talking to him for a while. Next year, he will tell her he has joined some religion she doesn't approve of to get her to give him the silent treatment. Then the following year, he will do something else she doesn't approve of - not sure what that would be (how narrow-minded is she?), maybe get his tongue/nose pierced? get a tattoo of Liberace? Grow dreadlocks?

Especially when they are both living in the basement of the same house. Apparently, they didn't get frisky in front of the parents when they lived separately and, in theory, didn't have much alone time together, so, why would they start doing it now, when they just need to go down a flight of stairs and can do whatever they want?

This made me laugh so hard - I am still laughing as I type. -
Probst said something at the end of TC to the effect of "You could be the next underdogs but you have to hit rock bottom first" - which made no sense to me, because (1) he made it sound like people should want to be the underdog, and (2) I think he was confusing underdogs with addicts.

I hope Abi finds the clue next week, and thinks she found the actual idol, but doesn't have time to open it until after the challenge, when it would be too late. She is the only one that I am actively rooting against. Instead, Woo looked like he was thinking "Oh, you're Abi? I thought I was voting for somebody else." My allergies are acting up and if I am not a mouth breather, I wouldn't be breathing at all. Perhaps Woo's WTF look is the result of stuffed up sinuses - it would explain the gaping mouth, but not the confused look in his eyes. And each tribe is made up of three women and three men. Did they have separate trays and boxes for men and women - It looked like they were all picking from the same tray. I thought Jeremy was reading the clue and it stated "your idol" or "the idol" and he changed it to "MY idol" because he knew it would be his. I didn't think there was any sort of agreement to share it, but someone made a comment that it would be good for their alliance if they had an idol. They need a dictionary, because it has been obvious for a while now that they don't know what blindside means. The only way it would have been a blindside is if it was Woo voted out - he was the only person at tribal who was never up for consideration (and now he is at the bottom). When you spend as much time as Abi does stirring shit and talking shit, you get used to the smell of shit and don't notice the stink. I don't think his talking to Wigglesworth was a big deal, but Tasha was very smart to convince everyone else that it was a big deal - it took the target off her. It was going to be her or Savage and she had seen first hand that Savage is pretty persuasive - he was able to bring people to tears because he married a supermodel, so she was likely the next to go if she didn't paint a target on someone else. However, I wonder if the "Varner is a rat" plan would have worked long enough to save Tasha. Seemed to me that all Varner would have to do is point out to the other three from his former tribe that "I was just talking to members of OUR alliance" Tasha (and/or Varner) is lucky PG and Abi don't like each other. I am afraid that would just lead to seasons where everyone will be obnoxious and try to be a goat.

Well, he signed up for this show, when he supposedly already had a modeling contract - which should be the first clue that there is something wrong with him. You can add this to the second list "Make up a word that becomes part of everyday language" - no check mark next to that one, but she keeps trying - smize, tooch, booch, boom-boom-boom, H2T.... -
Recently joined Netflix and discovered this show, and have been slowly binge watching it ("slowly binge watching" may be an oxymoron). First Frank kills the congressman, then he kills Zoe, then he pees on his father's grave, and now he spits on Jesus. I think the writers are just trying to top whatever Frank did last. There are probably better, less clichéd and less offensive ways to be shocking, but if peeing and spitting offend people, then people will talk about it and the show gets the attention it is seeking. I suppose they can't just have him keep killing people, but that doesn't stop me from thinking he is going to kill someone - like when he was talking to the judge and he walked over to give his aside, I thought he might get a pillow and suffocate the guy. And when Claire and Frank had their incredibly quick sexytimes on the floor, I turned to my husband, and Clarie was kneeling down, "They are either going to have sex, or she is going to try to kill him." Doug is weird dude. I am left wondering if he has given up on re-joining Frank and really wants to help the Solicitor General get elected, or if he wants to work on her campaign to sabotage it and help Frank get re-elected (everyone else probably already knows the answer to this).

S09.E03: The Bachelor Party Corrosion
needschocolate replied to buffynut's topic in The Big Bang Theory [V]
According to Penny, he is working up the courage to tell Sheldon that he is moving out. Penny said that Leonard sleeps at her (their) apartment, but it was only a matter of time before Sheldon has a bad dream and run into Leonard's room and discovers the pile of pillows Leonard leaves in the bed to look like he is there. Of course, this is just another reminder that this is a sitcom, not real life -- There is no way that a 35ish year old who is a genius, could be so socially unaware that he would think that his newly married roommate wouldn't live with his wife. He may possibly think that the new wife would move in with him and the roommate, but he would certainly think that the couple would live in the same place. -

I didn't see the van fire coming, I guess I was too busy waiting for Amy's ears to get infected (glad they stayed away from that well-worn plotline). alternate roadtrip ending - Van is on fire and, as they watch it burn, there is a small explosion, then Sheldon calmly says, "oh, that must have been the box of WD-40 on the back seat".
