Oh yeah...I was wondering why we say them do impressions of Kors and Nina but not the impression (by Santino?) of Tim - "Andre, Andre, where is Andre?" It was because that was a Bravo season. duh! When I saw Gretchen's winning FW collection, I thought that maybe Ashley's wasn't so bad after all.

I love Diane, Junior, and Jack, and not necessarily in that order - it all depends on who is talking at that moment. I have nothing against Zoey - but the character is the self-absorbed, popular, pretty girl, older sister that has been done on many shows before. This show has the best child actors ever, IMO. Actually, all the acting on this show is great, including the office people. I would absolutely hate having Dre's mom for a mother-in-law (I might even hate having her as a mother), but the actress plays the part very well.

S09.E09: The Platonic Permutation

I agree. When they were at the soup kitchen I had to keep reminding myself that she was supposed to be Raj's girlfriend. She just seemed like she was one of the extras taht was given a few lines to say. -

Although I felt sorry for Amy, I am happy for her that Sheldon turned down her offer. She is better off not dating him and I am glad he may have kept her from "loving him from afar" and will now move on to someone who is better for her. Just because they had fun as friends at the aquarium doesn't mean that he will be a good boyfriend. I think Sheldon needs to date some other women so the he will understand that what Amy wanted - kindness, respect, etc... - is what all potential girlfriends want. -
If it was in reference to something, I have no idea what it could be. I think they just played it again so the audience would understand that Haley and Andy barely made it out of the room in time.
-
I think the replaying thing was to introduce showing what happened next from someone else's perspective. But I didn't realize that until the third time they did it, so I don't think it worked well. I have no explanation for Phil's clothes
-
I don't watch Empire, am not a basketball fan, and haven't gotten a professional haircut in years (family member does a good job of it for free), so I didn't get a lot of the jokes. Enjoyed what I understood though.

So what were Haley and Andy doing while they were hiding from everyone else? They were alone long enough for their clothes to dry. Why couldn't they have their realization that they were in love while they were hiding out so that I wouldn't have to watch it? I don't like Andy. Originally, I felt the actor that plays him can't act, but I have been told that he is good on other shows, so maybe the character is so poorly written that there is no opportunity for good acting. Andy is just so, so bland. To me, he doesn't even have enough flavor to be vanilla pudding. He's flavorless pudding. When Haley ran back into the room and jumped into his arms, I am sure the writers wanted viewers to get the same feeling as when Rachel announced that she didn't get on the plane or whatever the big scene was when Sam and Diane finally got together (Cheers was the first show I remember doing the will-they/won't-they thing), but I felt nothing, absolutely nothing. Not even a sense of relief that the will-they/won't-they stuff may be over.

Fishback is so focused on not repeating the same mistakes that he is oblivious to the fact that he is making new mistakes all the time. He seems to be forgetting one of the things that has made Survivor last for 31 seasons - every season is different because the different players add different things to the mix. The winning strategy one season might get you kicked out before the merge in another season, and vice versa. Stephen needs to remember what Boston Rob finally learned - you need to adjust your game for the players you are playing with.

S22.E14: The Guy Who Was A Momma's Boy
needschocolate replied to OnceSane's topic in America's Next Top Model [V]
I wonder if part of Mame's attitude was because she was disappointed that it was her mother and not her aunt that showed up. She is probably as close to her aunt as the others are to their moms. Or maybe Mame was just trying to find an angle she could work - "parents got divorced" and "raised by a single mom" were already taken, so she had to go with "my mother abandoned me" Veering a bit off topic...every time a reality contestant mentions that they were raised by a single mom, I apologize to my daughter. Staying happily married to her father has apparently ruined any chance she has of winning (or even being on) a reality competition show. -
I think they have tried to change things to make it so no one person wins almost every immunity, because, as many have commented this season with Joe's immunity running, it is boring TV. It used to be that most every challenge favored those who were strong or could swim like a dolphin. Then, they added puzzles into the mix. But puzzles aren't the most exciting TV either. The past few seasons there have been a lot of challenges that most any age or body type could do well at, like throwing things at a target, but people complained that they were tired of watching them throw things at a target. Apparently, now, they are going for the balance/endurance challenges. Plus, this season they are also working the second chance angle and seem to be trying to have challenges that someone failed at before.

I wish Peter would have replied, "Now you finally understand why I slept with all those prostitutes!"

It would be nice to see the schoolyard picks. I believe Jeff said that Kelly Wigglesorth picked name, name, name,... and that someone else (one of the guys) picked name, name, name... I suppose this means that to people were chosen as captains and they picked the teams, instead of someone picks a person and that person picks the next person, and so on. When I saw that Abi was not picked I thought we were in for an Abi tirade, with her getting way to emotional because no one picked her. But, if there was one, we weren't shown it. Now, I am thinking the reason why Wigglesworth was the target was because Abi was mad at her for not picking Abi. I wasn't. I figured that if Abi won, Joe would be voted off and I would rather have TC be less predictable. I wouldn't call it an evolution, but I think there has been one big change this season - they aren't automatically targeting the challenge threats after the merge. Old School was keep the athletic ones until the merge and then get rid of them as soon as you can so they don't go on an immunity run. Perhaps they would all put alliances aside and vote off Joe if he ever loses immunity, but we don't know that for sure. And they certainly aren't targeting the other challenge threats. Savage might be called a challenge threat, but I believe he was chosen last week not for his possible physical capabilities, but because Ciera doesn't like him (and because he was the perceived head of the big alliance). At first I thought it was ridiculous to go against the big alliance - get rid of the three women first, then you make an alliance of 5 out of the remaining 8 and you are still in it. But maybe Jeremy, Spencer and Stephen weren't confident that they could get two more to join with them once the "witches" were gone. They either had to flip now, when it would be 6 to 5 or wait until the three were gone and hope they could get 2 more to join them. And Phillip's droopy pink underwear
-
I think the team that made the witch should have gone home as I thought it was by far the worst, but I am glad the team the went home is gone. The woman who did most of the talking for that team was starting to bother me - too whiny. Maybe now that she is gone won't have any more "oh no! I broke the ornate sugar piece that is crucial to our design! There is nothing else to do but remake it. I hope I have time!" The big Jack Frost was great. I also liked the leprechaun and tooth fairy. I thought it was funny that two teams made Jack Frost, but the team called Jack Frosters didn't.

Season Two Episode Talk

I am just glad they didn't blindfold them and make hit the cake with a stick. -
The thing that always got me about the team challenge is that there were valid reasons for not picking Ashley that shouldn't hurt her feelings. Candice could have easily pulled Ashley aside and said, "I thought Amanda needed the boost of being picked before everyone else, she has been so down lately, and I had a feeling the guys were only going to pick other guys so I knew we'd end up on.the same team anyway." This might not be the truth, but I get the impression Candice has no problem telling someone a fib. The others could have said that they are friends with the one they picked and didn't want any hurt feelings. Or anyone could have pointed out how their aesthetics are different from Ashley's, and not in a bad way. I thought that maybe acceptable reasons were given at the apartments and that is why we didn't re-hash the incident in later episodes. But, with the way things went at the reunion, it looks no one offered an plausible excuse. That may not make them "mean girls" but it did make them inconsiderate. They had to have known that Ashley would feel bad, especially after Heidi pointed it out. And I can understand why Ashley didn't contribute. She was picked last and she didn't know why. She may have been thinking --- "It isn't the quality of my work since I have won twice already, Everyone seems to like me and I don't think I am doing anything annoying. Maybe they thought I would try to boss everyone since I have won twice. Or maybe they were afraid I would wan't to stick with my aesthetic. Well then, I am just going to be the least opinionated person on the team - I will just go along with everyone else." I think she actually said something in a talking head to this effect. Of course, she may have also gotten pouty and thought "Well, screw them, if they don't want me on their team, I am just going to give them the silent treatment." Or maybe this was just her standard response to being picked last. I have a feeling that she has had a lot of experience in being picked last. If she was a chubby kid, then she was likely picked last in PE, and I believe she mentioned once that she was dyslexic, which means she was probably picked last in group projects in school too.

What was the point of making Cary and Diane racist idiots last week? Yeah, I don't see any way that it wouldn't be the companies fault. I figured they only tried to pin the blame on him is so that they can say there is nothing wring with the car, it was human error. But the fact that it didn't stop on its own still means there is something wrong with the car. In real life, there would have been no discussions, the company would have offered the woman a huge chunk of money provided she agreed not to discuss the case. I didn't get why they were asking the woman if she was texting - I don't understand it because what would it have to do with anything? She was stopped at a light (everyone seemed to agree on that), and while texting would probably still be illegal, it is not like she could have moved out of the way if she wasn't texting. I also don't understand it because nothing came from it. They asked, she sort of answered, and then the matter was dropped completely. No one tried to show that she contributed to the accident in any way. This was yet another example of the show trying to be hip or current or fashion forward, by having a case about some latest for m of technology, when they either don't understand it or there isn't really a case there. Seriously! And, to make it more ridiculous, Peter staying at Alicia's apartment for a week and then not going back for months/years will probably be enough to squelch all those "not happily married" rumors. They don't get these clients on their own. Lewis Canning keeps referring clients to them. Why? I don't know. Maybe the writers had an odd moment where they were in touch with reality enough that they realized that no one would seek out Alicia as their attorney, given the voting scandal, and, miraculously, also realized that the bond court stuff was getting too ridiculous to continue it. Therefore, someone was going to have to refer clients to Alicia, but there was no way LAL could do it (too much animosity, plus, they are not going to refer people to her if they are always going to be on opposite sides), and since Canning has the only other law firm in Chicago, it had to be him.

Sheets - Instead of making fitted, disposable, waterproof, paper sheets that are probably uncomfortable to sleep on, why not make thin, disposable, waterproof, paper pads to put under your stuff when you study and eat on top of your bed? Oh wait, they already make those to put under patients in hospitals. When the guy was talking about his sheets I was thinking that he needs to market them to bordellos and legitimate massage parlors - places where they have to change the linen often, but not places where some spends a lot of time laying on them. Unshrink - There is no way the unshrink people gave correct numbers. They must have projected that every wool sweater ever sold would need a bottle of their stuff. I figured they were out of touch when she said that they see it as a product everyone would want to have on hand, like aspirin. If you have a headache, you want aspirin right now, you don't want to drive to the store and pick some up. If you shrink your wool sweater, you can wait until or next week or month or year to take care of it. If you have to have that sweater back to normal right away, then you aren't going to have time to soak it for 30 minutes, reshape it, and let it air dry. The soap guy got a chuckle out of me when he said that he wanted the money so he could buy a 50 gallon drum to make the stuff in his garage instead of the 5 gallon bucket is currently using. I also had to laugh when Robert explained that people will tell a salesperson that they like something just to get away from them and this was followed by "But people tell us they love this product!" However, now I can't remember which of the entrepreneurs said it (it could have been any of them, except the Polar Pro guy, since he actually had real sales). I think the sharks initially thought he was putting on an act with the voice too. Polar Pro guy was the first man I have ever heard with a Vocal Fry.

I found this episode to be too unbelievable. Too much coincidence for my taste - and too little profiling. Did they do any profiling at all? I don't think they even gave a profile to the news/police. The closest they came to giving any background was when, after they found out that the chinese food delivery guy had been beaten as a child and his abusive father had had a heart attack, Hotch said, "He is forced to take care of the man who beat him, that might have caused his break." So the profiling was done with 20/20 hindsight and they still didn't relate it to the cause. Other than the notion that a traumatic event could cause someone to break, they should have at least offered a theory as to how his mother dying was connected to him specifically kidnapping a woman and keeping her chained in the attic - was he trying to replace his mother? And what a coincidence! - they go there because a woman is missing and Joy thinks it is related to other missing women over a period of years over multiple states, but it turns out that this missing woman was kidnapped by a different guy, but the guy from the other cases just happens to be in the same place. And, if what he was saying was true, that he was talking to the missing woman when the real unsub came up and walked away with her. Of course he was probably lying - maybe he was three states over and heard that a woman was missing and didn't like that some other guy was taking his place so he drove over to pretend to be the guy in the video ... yeah, right. I thought Rossi was saying that the who took Bahnai couldn't be the same one that that had attacked the other women (including, possibly, Joy) because the "other woman guy" was organized and that the guy who took Bahnai was disorganized. I have never known anyone in real life who found out about an adult child they didn't know they had or anyone who found a parent they thought was dead (that didn't know they existed. When this happens on tv, they seem to bond almost instantly and become part of each others lives as though they hadn't spent decades apart. I would think that in real life, people would just be thinking, "wow, this is really weird, but he/she seems like a nice person, I wonder how life would have been different if I found out about this years ago... Well, I guess I should add them to my Christmas card list." I liked how CM didn't go the typical route and, instead, when Rossi found out, he spent time with her and her family, instead of them immediately becoming one big happy family. But I still find it unrealistic that she would change her name to Rossi, even if it is just for her byline and not an official change - unless Rossi is so well known that she hopes it gives her more credibility as a reporter. But I thought she hadn't counted hers until she realized someone else was counting them. It confused me too. Wasn't it only 4-5 missing/killed college women from different states over a period of 10 years? Why would they think those cases were related?

I agree that this season is filled with players who realize that this is a game and don't take things personally. Kass and Savage both had their "personally" moments. I think Kass was able to not get personal at times, like when she clued Spencer in and saved him. Savage tends to take things more personally. However, the big exception to the "not taking things personally" theme is Abi, who seems to take everything personally. Thinking back to the early episodes this season, when we were forced to listen to Abi, I can't think of anything she didn't take personally. Now she is getting so little screen time, I keep forgetting she is there - and that is the way I like it.

I don't remember, but I would think that if a girl had to choose between Manny and Luke, she would pick Manny.
-
And another thing that didn't make sense this episode - Andy works (worked?) for Phil and he worked for Jay and Gloria for a long time, wouldn't the whole clan be invited to the wedding? Unless it was supposed to be a small wedding, in which case why would you think about inviting them just because you sat next to them in a movie theater?

S22.E13: The Girl Who Took A Shot In The Dark
needschocolate replied to OnceSane's topic in America's Next Top Model [V]
In honor of the way Tyra names everything after herself, I think we should use "Tyramodel" for models that aren't as "super" as the think they are. -
The actor playing Luke talks differently than he used to. I don't mean his voice, which has also changed (guys voices tend to do that), I mean the way his mouth moves. It is like he is over enunciating the words. I don't remember him doing that when he was younger. This episode seemed off, like it was written by someone who doesn't watch the show, just has it on in the background. There were so many things that didn't make sense, making the show feel very contrived. A lot of stuff has already been mentioned, like Alex lying about being at school even though she was going home, and the only copy of the old family recipe being attached to the jar. A few things I haven't seen mentioned - If it was a recipe that the aunt didn't share with anyone, why would Gloria just hand it over to Mitchell, and why would Mitchell, who seems to have no interest in cooking, want to see the recipe? Was the jar of the aunt's sauce just out on the table? Shouldn't it be refrigerated? And Gloria acted like it was a surprise - "Oh look, the jar of the special sauce from Columbia is right here in front of me!" The label to Gloria's unfortunate hair product - I understand that it was supposed to be easily misinterpreted, but there didn't seem to be any other way to interpret it than leave in for 3 minutes - "Leave in for 3....Minutes later..." Leave in for 3 what? Usually this show does a much better job of making misinterpretation more plausible (like Baby Jesus / baby cheeses). The convenient hole in the fence - The duckling waddles under a board into the neighbors yard makes sense - the Dunpheys don't have a dog, no need to fix every hole in the fencing. Manny walking through a gaping hole in the fence (right above the board the duck walked under) doesn't make sense. However, I will give them a pass on the shoe tying. I have known more than one kid who could tie his/her shoes in preschool. Some kids have the small motor skills that young and some do not. It is not a sign of future intelligence nor does it indicate whether they will be respectable, law-abiding adults, but being able to tie at age three is more likely than having the only copy of a recipe taped to an open jar of sauce that happens to be sitting in the middle of your kitchen table.

I think there were too many in the majority alliance to make showing the idol a good strategy. If she had told them and threatened to give it to Ciera or Abi, then the majority would have split the votes and one of the three would have gone home.
