  1. Brilliant assessment LOL. I wonder which - if any? - characters get their personalities and appeal back in the fall.
  2. A Theresa Returns storyline? Please? Let's not forget she was starting to mentor Claire and also had a real attraction going with Justin. I'd like to see both of those storylines continue.
  3. Bwa-ha-ha!! I'll be hard-pressed not to see that when I finally give this episode a watch.
  4. Shane and Steve saw a pic of someone who looks like Stefano after discussing how the faked his capture. So they know he's still alive ...and everyone else thinks he's still alive too.
  5. I just binged my way through the whole season after not having seen much of the show the last few years. When did they start taking a trip to a foreign country with the final designers? I was really surprised that Kini basically designed a black-and-white collection. He had so much more to offer than that and I think it definitely shot him in the foot. The only thing that made his losing worthwhile was that incredible hug he got from his aunt and the way she sang to him. That was so beautiful. Sean's collection had a nice story but not much else. I feel like this was the season of The Fringe and I was kind of over it, even though his choice of orange was very interesting. Char really didn't put her best foot forward, did she? I think if she had continued along the path with that great Italian fabric she would have had something. Too many looks seemed like a solid color or the same piece of fabric head-to-toe and I don't know why she went in that direction. That blue number she opened the show with was really sloppy looking. The shirt with the word FLY written on it was pandering a bit. They really hit the nail on the head when they told her every look had to be something she would wear. I'm glad she made it to the finale but I'm really disappointed she couldn't think up something more cohesive for her collection even if it did put it in a bit more of a box. Tim nodding and smiling as she finally put that blue dress in out of desperation was really sweet. He knew it didn't fit into the collection but didn't want to hurt her feelings at that point since there was no other time for her to make something better. I wonder why he ended up being such a mentor to her. I don't think it was by design - in spite of what Korina suspected - but one can't deny she wouldn't have made it as far in the season without Tim behind her. And speaking of Korina - wow! What a villain. I was wondering why out of nowhere Amanda stated that Korina had made a nasty remark to her off camera at the start of one episode. At first I thought I had missed an episode but clearly they really felt the need to include that mention as a setup for her nastiness towards others, Char especially, later on. Her attitude during her second chance challenge was especially infuriating. They could have immediately eliminated her and given it to Char. They didn't! They gave you another chance and you spent your time making catty remarks and whining instead of putting together something that looked good. Char's look was stunning and really blew me away. It's a shame they didn't give her two days to do her entire 10 piece collection. We might have ended up with something better. I've actually known girls like Korina who are all smug and condescending when things are going their way and then sour and entitled when they aren't. I definitely don't think this show needs a villain every season to be interesting, but it was interesting watching her self destruct all the while thinking she's better than everyone else including the show and Tim Gunn indirectly. Was there a reunion special? I wonder if she would even show her face. I couldn't stand her at the final fashion show. I wonder if she showed up in attempt to improve her image or simply because she was contractually obligated. Her rant against Char with something else. "You were already eliminated!!!" suggests....what, exactly? That nobody except Korina deserves to get the Tim Gunn save? That the Tim Gunn save isn't fair at all? I was even a little bit bothered by everyone getting in a huff because Tim asked for them to grant Char 10 additional minutes to fix the zipper. It wasn't going to be perfect in those 10 minutes and it obviously was not her fault that the thing busted when it was put on a regular woman's body. If it had been any other challenge her model would have had to deal with it but this obviously wasn't going to be one of those times so...who cares? A zipper wasn't going to make or break her design. I was really impressed by how much Amanda improved. Her final runway show was really quite good even if I don't particularly think the clothes are all that stunning. I just think she has a great sense of style and a cohesion that is appealing. Aside from Korina I also felt that Amanda and Sandhya were putting on a bit of an act for the cameras. Sanshya seemed a little too serene and perky and self-involved and Amanda seemed almost self-conscious in her desire to let everything roll off her back. It was like both were determined to come across as perfect to the viewers at home and that irks me a little bit. Man was Sandhya's prospective weird. I liked some of her stuff but I really couldn't understand some other things. I'm glad the judges sent her home early if only to send the message that not every kooky thought that comes out of her head is genius. That little girl's outfit was terrible. I guess it's important to remember to always listen to the critiques no matter how harsh they are. There was a bit too much arguing and a bit too much "well I like it and I don't care if you don't" from the contestants. That never goes well. I would still consider this season a bit of an upset. Sean was innovative and smart throughout the competition but Kini should have been the winner for my money. If only he'd tried to be a bit more clever about the story of his show and used a bit more color I think he would have had this one in the bag. Instead it felt like he was designing evil villainess clothes for Willamina Slater or something. He did a good job with creating a few more youthful pieces at the last minute but the overall impact was a bit too serious.
  6. According to Summer spoilers: I guess this is why the last scenes of Hattie and Andre were cut in January. Either Dena or Ron decided to bring the character back in a different way. I don't see what the point is since Deidre gave us such a lifeless performance in December. Also it seems like Kate and Andre are definitely getting married while Chad is off on the island. I am beyond disgusted. They've paired Kate up now with a child abusing incestuous drug dealer, a former mercenary turned career criminal and now a known serial killer back from the dead. I would rather she became a prostitute again than ever marry Andre. Other highlights include Angelika coming back, Hope and Rafe discussing marriage and Kayla being tormented by Tripp. Yikes.
  7. LOL. So, so true. I think I'll be genuinely tuning out until July, barring any good Ericole or LuAnne stuff. It'll probably take all summer for the Chloe crap to clear up anyways.
  8. Dance, magic, dance! It's difficult to believe that this movie wasn't an immediate success upon its release. It puts a really inventive spin on more familiar stories like The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland and gave us an iconic performance from David Bowie as well as a solid one from Jennifer Connelly and a whole bunch of memorable puppets from Jim Henson. They just don't make films like this anymore. ...although apparently they're working on another film "set in the same universe", whatever that means. I'm extremely skeptical and just don't think it's a good idea. I think this one was lightning in a bottle and should probably be left alone rather than imitated. But we will see...
  9. I stumbled across this underappreciated gem in a discount DVD bin well over a decade ago and was astonished and delighted once I watched the actual film. It's clever, it's funny, it's stylish, it's musical and it always puts a smile on my face. I think I'm going to have to give it a rewatch soon because it's been too long. Great cast and a great concept. Unfortunately it apparently bombed upon release. I could see why this might be a hard sell, but if people had given it a chance I honestly think they would have loved it.
  10. I just realized this is twice now that Belle has been a crappy sister to Brady in the last few months. First, by taking the job in Hong Kong and immediately leaving town the night before his wedding...and now by failing to come to his deathbed (but still okaying a visit from Ciara, presumably?) I'd think in both cases Chad would have been fine with her putting family first. I honestly hope she comes back to town and rips into him for making it her job to legitimize the company while he's off stealing...
  11. Apparently, Brady isn't saved by a heart transplant.... it's having Nicole rest Holly's heart against Daniel's heart in Brady's chest that does the trick. Because...science! Yup. I hate this idiotic writing!
  12. I would have loved to see her as Hippolyta but since this was more of an action movie and Carter is showing her age a little bit I guess that knocked her out of the running (what with the Amazons all being approximately 30 years old visually). A real shame they didn't find some other meaningful role for her to fill. A cameo certainly wouldn't have worked. Agreed. She completely transcended the campy scripts she was forced to work with. We will always wonder what could have been with better writing to serve her and the character.
  13. How did they leave Lynda out of this movie??
  14. Happy as I am to see this version of Ciara go, how can the show justify her hopping a flight to Hong Kong to hang with Shawn and Belle if Belle can't be bothered to hop a flight to Salem when her brother is on the brink of death? I assumed Ciara might go to Los Angeles to see Caroline, Kimberly and Shane. She was after all packing up Caroline's things just a week or two ago. It might have been nice for her to think of spending time with her grandmother. How many more weeks until the new writing starts? Sigh.
  15. I have to admit I can't wait for Marlena to let her grey show. It would be a nice passing of the torch if you will. I feel like the last lady we saw on the show with gray or white hair was Alice Horton. It would certainly indicate a new era of the series. I doubt Deidre would be willing to do it though. Maybe it might be possible after she and John have their last marriage ceremony.
  16. ...he's the 476th "lost child" to wander into Salem in the last five years. I just don't care. We barely know Valerie and yet we're supposed to care that her son has issues with her and didn't know who his father was? From clips I've seen online something similar was playing out when Lucas was first introduced to the show, but at least Kate had been on for a while at that point so she was a familiar face. Eli is wooden and flat and feels like he should be on The Bold and the Beautiful. Valerie also has no identity. I'm not even sure what Abe sees in her other than the fact that she's black and female and in his age range kind of so obviously the show is going to pair them up. On some level, I'm just waiting for all these peripheral characters to fulfill their inevitable journey of leaving as soon as their contracts run out because they never caught on. It keeps happening that way. This show seems to cycle through these characters every few years and you can call them almost as soon as you see them. Eli, Lani and Paul are all essentially the same special snowflakes with zero actual personality. In rare cases, characters like Chad who are retconned into being the offspring of popular characters manage to catch on because the narrative is strong enough to support them or the character has a certain pizzazz. So far, the only two characters I've seen like this are Theresa and Tripp...and Theresa ended up being the previously seen child of an established couple so it's hard to consider her a success. Eli will be gone within the next year or two if the show is still around. I don't hate the guy, I just don't care anymore. The show really stinks at introducing new characters and making them compelling. Even if they stumble upon a really great actor like they did with the original Jade or with Aiden (not that he relates to my point here about mystery children of popular characters) they totally botch the story. Lani in particular was terrible today. Sal Stowers doesn't know how to talk it seems. Maybe she could do a commercial about depression medication. But I just find her super awkward. Of the current crop of younger characters the only ones I find to be good are Chad, JJ, Abigail (to a point), Claire (when given good material), Theo (to a point) and maybe Tripp, but he's unfortunately roped into being Ava's son, which sucks. I'm done with teens showing up and having issues because nobody knew they were the kid of veteran character X and Y. If one more person ends up being someone's kid I'm going to throw a boot through my television. See, I always felt this is where the show was taking him as a character from Day 1. First he started up his own businesses and had success on a small scale and then would eventually take his place at Titan. Him suddenly jumping to CEO however is laughable and his tough-guy mobster act and gelled hair makes it completely absurd. It's a shame because again I think we all used to like Freddie and this character quite a bit. Now I'm praying for a recast. If they really want him to play a businessman from here on out, they need someone who can believably pull that off. Freddie was okay as the kind of nice guy cousin in the Kiriakis family...but he's no Bruce Wayne.
  17. I didn't see whatever it was that supposedly happened to Paul but since it happened and then he recovered from it in the span of one episode I don't even see what the point was of them including it as a subplot. I really had to laugh at the show for having all of these Salem police officers in a crime scene in Greece throwing plates around on the floor and inviting civilians like Gabi to join in. At first blush I thought so too, but then I realized Victor had apologized to Marlena for crapping on Eric just the night before, and was now right back to crapping all over him again. Really annoying. The only part worth watching was when he credited her for raising Brady after Isabella died. Frankly though, if he didn't thank her ten years ago or more, back when she was actually raising Brady, it feels a little too late to be thanking her at this point. I feel like I can't be the only one who wouldn't be at all disappointed if the plane crashed and all of the passengers died. Typically, I would want to spare Chad but all of his stuttering and flirting with Gabi and stealing this idiotic amulet has burned me out. I think the only one I would somewhat miss is JJ. Let's give him the only parachute.
  18. Oh that would be sweeeeet. When was the last time he was seen? I figured he had died sometime in the last few years.
  19. When did that happen? I don't think I'll ever get over the fact that the makeup crew on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was allowed to cover the Tin Man in what ended up being life threatening silver makeup. Isn't that the kind of thing you test first before you bring it to set and risk an actor's life? Of course this is also the same production that thought it was a good idea to drop Margaret Hamilton through a trapdoor while flames shot up in front of her. Poor woman.
  20. I tried watching this a few weeks ago on a sick day and could only get through the first hour. I liked the cast - especially Billy and Jason - but felt the other characters were underwritten, especially considering how much time we spend in that first hour just getting to know them (supposedly). Zordon and Alpha worked surprisingly well and I didn't mind Rita's revised origin as a fallen former Ranger...but they really took their sweet time introducing her as a threat and I found it impossible to forget that I was watching Elizabeth Banks ham it up. Her whole stealing gold thing to make Goldar was also a big ?!!? I'll watch the second half of the movie soon and probably have more to add. It wasn't a bad... but I found it bizarrely somber and dull and murky in terms of its tone and cinematography. I'm in no way surprised to see the Chinese audience reject it outright. The original show Power Rangers is based on was colorful and bizarre and campy and larger than life. It grabbrd your attention and was compelling and creative. This must've seemed very pretentious and dry by comparison.
  21. It's so funny that you would mention that. I didn't even know Merlin's Apprentice existed until I saw it in a sale bin at a DVD shop that was going out of business a few months ago. I practically hopped when I saw the title on the spine and then I did a quick search on my phone and saw that the reviews were less than stellar. I assume you've watched it? Let me guess: they basically brought Sam Neill back to play Merlin and just used him to beef up what was otherwise a completely invented story that could be shoehorned into the vague era of Arthurian lore, right? Lena was so angellic as Guinevere. It's interesting to see the story's usual leading lady reduced to such a small role once the focus is shifted to Merlin's perspective. Can anyone tell me if the traditional version of the story featured Morgan Le Fey as Arthur's half-sister? Did they always sleep together to produce Mordred? I was pretty surprised the movie went there since it was aimed at an all-ages audience.
