  1. Sure, and that is over in two weeks, maybe three tops. Except they are talking it out - or at least Callie is with a friend. Also, Callie should be in therapy anyway with her myriad of issues. And if Brandon going to therapy sorts him out and makes him less whiney - I am for it. But my point is they are young, stupid and 16. Nothing lasts when you are 16 and they will be separated in less than a year. It's why I agreed with Stef when she was talking with Brandon that honestly - they need to get over it. I do hate that they went there with the sex and that it will be used to overturn the adoption or as fodder for another teen preg storyline.
  2. To be fair, being a cop isn't exactly like Lena's 9-3 job with built in holidays. But my main point is that Stef shouldn't be put at fault at all for Monte falling for Lena and/or the kiss. That is on Monte and Lena. It is ridiculous to suggest otherwise. I hate Callie/Brandon but...they are 16. They can still get over it. It's not Romeo and Juliet. Plus, with college coming up how likely is it they will constantly be around. I completely hate the relationship and they should have just teased it (if they had to) rather than do anything - but the idea two 16 year olds will always be together is for Dawson's Creek. I hope this show can fix it and do better. That is a pretty awful stereotype and IMO not what the show is going for. I don't see Stef as clamping down on Lena. I saw her as pissed because he wife/girlfriend of 10 years, was kissed by another person, kissed her back (or didn't stop it) and didn't tell Stef about it and it took a mutual 3rd party friend. I think, despite some other shonky fights, that is pretty valid. I agree with someone upthread - the breast cancer should have been drawn out a little longer or saved for next season. Unless it was a false negative, which maybe.
  3. The guard/prisoner love story has been done - See Bennett/Daya. Also, worth noting that while in a prison, an inmate is not able to consent to a relationship and any relations would be considered rape/sexual assault. And I never thought they were going to head any other way with that guard. The dog-fetching thing was clearly creepy, malicious and a sign of things to come. Put a pervert in a powerful position with no background checks - cannot be surprised what happened. I've been rewatching season 1 and this character, more than any other, really was a victim of circumstance and is just blowing in the wind. I think it is great that she has changed so much and I think it largely hinges on her new teeth. I love her and Boo and hope they do get their revenge on that bloody awful guard.
  4. I am aware of depressive behaviours thanks. And I didn't say anywhere that he wasn't a good profiler - that wasn't my point. But nearly everyone on that team at some point makes a reference to Gideon and how maybe he isn't better. If they did know - then he should not have been put in a high position on the team and shouldn't have held himself out to be the best person to understand Reid. And see also: How he deals with Elle. To be honest, while he may/may not have PTSD, I think he is also one of the most narcissistic characters which, while may be interesting to watch, makes any relationship with that person look incredibly unhealthy and the other person(s) look like doormats.
  5. I hope never. Callie and Wyatt were not a thing, and Wyatt was polite and respectful to Mariana. Unfortunate yes, a need for a fight? No. There was the uneasiness the day after and that was enough. Callie/Mariana are the best. I hate the idea posted above that because Stef works hard etc. that Lena was left open for a predatory attack by another woman. Crap. If Monte wants to go for Lena fine. If she wants to flirt fine. Kiss her? That is on Monte. But it isn't Stef's fault at all and for the most part is not Lena's either (in so far as how much it was encouraged/not). I also hate this show goes so far but not follows through - what did Stef/Lena say to eachother during the party? Was it cut for time? Or just the writer's couldn't get there. The actors would have nailed it. Because fyi show - feel free to cut Callie/Brandon crap in favour of the mums. Also - re: last weeks discussion about daughter vs. son sex. In this episode Jude gets a talk and demo from Lena about sex. Why have the girls not had it? Or been shown to? Big fail on the show's part. And not like they didn't have the opportunity - when the mum's were having their 'chat' with Mariana about sex with Matt/Wyatt - a perfect opportunity. Some non-judgmental portrayal of female sexuality would not go astray. One last thing - Jesus. I loved Stef's line - 'What are they feeding you at that school? You are so tall!' Awesome token nod at a new actor. Loved it and laughed so hard.
  6. I appreciate that, but at the end of the day - if he is not 100% he should not have put himself in place as a mentor and/or boss to Reid. That is bad boss behaviour. If he was not prepared to act, he shouldn't be there. It was bad for him and his relationship to any/all subordinates (and probably Hotch, on a peer level, too). That is selfish and is one of the main reasons I don't buy him either as a great team member or as a positive influence on Reid. I mean - the whole 'Call him Dr Reid because no one would buy him as a legitimate FBI agent' crap - Reid was qualified and being undermined like that was gross. Bottom line, I dislike the implication that the Gideon/Reid relationship was either a)good or b) healthy. And when it is shown up by the show itself, with Emily, then I don't think I am supposed to.
  7. I'm not saying they need to trust Mona. I am saying it is bizzare that the show has a predatory male being a constant source of comfort to the girls after having stalked them for years. I mean, he had a freaking lair too. I guess my main point is that the show has fallen over themselves redeeming male characters that just shouldn't be. I feel like it should be one-in-all-in. Plus - they don't even trust Jenna for no reason, and as far as I can tell, Jenna never actually did anything to the girls - well, except Caleb, and has been the victim of attempted murder twice. From what I remember she was covering up what she thought was a murder she was there fore but couldn't see. And she wasn't even right about it. I mean, the PLLs need to get their priorities sorted. Its just strange that the girls don't trust any other girl on the show (for good and sometimes invalid reasons) but the blokes get a pass on truly gross issues. This show.
  8. Really? I have never heard that at all. Just that LG wanted back to NYC. Receipts? For what it is worth - JJ was never that warm to anyone and Garcia chucked the drink cause it was close to the computers, not out of malice.
  9. I never saw Gideon do a single thing to help Reid, aside from a vague and ridiculous chat in a jazz club. Emily did more than anyone and she'd only been on the team a few months. Mind you, I never bought into the close Gideon/Reid relationship and pretty much see it as one-sided.
  10. I go back and forward on the Emily/girlfriend sex. I reckon it was clear enough that her and Maya slept together at Spencers - And I think that scene was a product of its time. Clear but not crystal, because it couldn't be then. With Paige - I don't know. They never really showed or alluded to it IMO. And I hope never with Alison because Emily could do better. But also ambiguous. I also go back and forth on Paige as a love interest - yes she tried to drown Emily which was completely awful (and I will forever love Spencer for immediately wanting to kill her for it - cause Emily/Spencer don't get enough show time) - but compared to Toby/Ezra that seems like a miniscule thing. Paige didn't hook up with Emily or stalk her for 2+years because she was writing a book and didn't screw the girls by joing the A team/Stealing evidence off them or blame Spencer for eating pot gummie-bears not meant for him and generally acting like a tool. She wasn't even a legitimate A suspect for longer than 2 episodes. I guess, considering the alternatives, an endgame relationship for Emily (if there has to be one) for me, would be Paige. I mean, she felt guilty for snogging Emily once she realised Emily was drugged - has Ezra even looked slightly apologetic for the whole stalking thing? I also think there is no way Paige wouldn't have come back and teamed up with Caleb to find them during the whole bunker-thing, but that may just be me. I do like that the show has had Emily be with a number of other girls/women without being judged for it by the other girls or even her parents (post-Maya) - that seems more normal and real than finding her one!true!love! at 16 like Aria/Spencer and sticking by them no matter what. (I am giving Hanna a pass because Caleb is Caleb and is just awesome.) I also think the show has a bit of a feminist-disconnect with Mona. They have obviously kept her around because Mona is a great character (which is true and I love to hate the character. I mean she has an actual Stiletto shoe!). But they haven't tried to rehabilitate her, which I dislike possibly more than I appreciate because: Mona was A for seasons 1-2 and did awful things. The girls and Caleb are right to be sus of her - unquestionably. BUT this is the same show where the main OTP from day 1 turned out to be an overage predatory stalker who has suffered absolutely ZERO consequences for it and was actually redemed by the show. Ezra was a fully adult male who chose to stalk four 16 year old girls AND to hook up with one of those girls knowing she was underage, that he would be her teacher and that she didn't know. At the very least, Mona was also underaged and given a mental illness diagnosis (which in real life is crap, but that is what the show wants to peddle. It would have been better to have gone with PTSD from bullying IMO but whatever). Plus, Mona, even though it took awhile, has actually apologised for what she did. Ezra got shot and that's it? I don't think Mona is pure or golden and I love that Caleb unreservedly hates her. But for an otherwise mostly feminist show - why is a male predator redemed and Mona not?
  11. Plus, Mona just found out she killed Bethany in the finale, but had thought it was Alison til then....so I really don't know if/how that works. Although knowing this show - it probably did.
  12. Oh I think so 100%. Tone etc make a huge difference. In saying that, I don't think the banter they had was flirting or came close to it. And I think they would have been better portrayed as close friends - moreso than lumping the girls together just cause. But because of their chemistry - whatever someone wants to read into it - that was why I would put them together if I had to choose. I just wouldn't go with Emily/Hotch or Emily/Rossi because mainly of the the whole being the boss/superior thing. While it isn't a huge thing, and certainly not illegal, I don't see any of them going for it, (except perhaps Rossi on account of his history) because of the impropriety.
  13. Jordan Todd preferably. They seemed to like eachother without reservation and are both intelligent. I thought they may have been going there at the time but it got walked back. Pity. Or Reid. At least Prentiss was always nice and respectful towards him - even when teasing (E.g. the 'fable' story bit vs.JJ's reactions to Reid) . And vice-versa.
  14. From what I remember - Samara gave Emily the heave-ho because A had got her to be flirting with Samara's mates. I don't blame Samara to be fair. I think initially, the show got a lot of positive goodwill because IMK flat out said in the first season that they would keep Emily gay - unlike the books - and held true to that. (Possibly the only time she has told the truth?) Emily wasn't just gay for sweeps.
  15. No I meant he was nice to Callie when the topic of sex came up in their relationship and was never pushy - which yeah, no points for doing the right thing but nice to see on a show. And yes, I hate that this show has made a bigger deal out of the girls' virginities also.
  16. I don't think Callie/Wyatt was the best ever possible pairing and probably not the best match for Callie as long term. As a good first boyfriend, yeah, why not. BUT I have ever seen it as being either a Callie/Wyatt or Callie/Brandon endgame situation, like some. If that was the contest then I would come down on Wyatt's side just because he was possibly ever going to be legally related to Callie. However, I do think Wyatt was good for Callie because he let her be Callie and supported her AND also called her out on her behaviour when appropriate. The only time I thought he possibly overstepped was during the Mexican festival when he beat up Liam/tried to get Callie out of there without her knowledge. But, I don't think it was him doing it for him, which is why I don't dislike him. He was also the one who called Lena/Stef when Callie ran in 1B. He was probably the ideal boyfriend if a girl wasn't into sex/freaked out for a PTSD reason - because he supported her and never pushed her. I think he is a good guy, and while I wish the show hadn't have written him with Mariana, he was also a good guy to Mariana and wasn't a pushy asshole to Callie about it (which on a lesser show, would have been). I think he and Callie could have been good mates, if the actor wasn't on the other show. I also like his hair. It is lush and wavy and nothing like mine. Not a character positive, but pretty. But because this was brought up in topic - back to it - I don't dislike Brandon's actor. He is good with Lena/Stef/Mike/Mariana - everyone but Callie (and Jude). It gives me hope that we aren't supposed to root for Callie/Brandon but I I think that might be accidental. Brandon could be a good and interesting character but the writing is not backing it up. And probably won't for the time being. Sad. This show had so much going for it when it started.
  17. Why does this show get a pass because it has, until this season, shown a lesbian character positively. That doesn't give it a free-for-all in terms of any other group on the LGBTIQP banner. I think it is disapointing HeatherHogan/Autostraddle diluted any legitimate negative opinion of this finale of CeCe as A. Though I thought Heather was going to once she deleted her immediate tweet of 'Fuck.This.Shit' though. I will say, Heather is right and Kenneth DiLaurentis is a baddie f this show. That he didn't love or support his son, that was naturally a girl, is awful and tragic. And not to take away from CeCe but he was awful to ALL his kids. That he told Jason to suck it up that he gaslighted him re:Charles (as she then was) and that Ali that she should suck it up that the cops sent to protect her were slut-shaming her is completely AWFUL. Kenneth DiLaurentis is a respresentation of patriarchy-is-bad and the show has (possibly unintentionally) pointed that out a lot and him denying CeCe is a very important and topical point. BUT. The final and the show has showed Kenneth as more protective of baby!Ali which isn't necessarily transphobic. The only part of Kenneth we saw as transphobic came from Jessica DiLaurentis, who not perfect at all but prepared to hide the death of her daughter Ali to protect another daughter - buried alive. All I am saying is Jessica should not be regarded as absolute fact. I find it hard to believe any DiLaurentis' perspective (except maybe Jason). I totally accept Kenneth as transphobic as much as Jessica is a bad narrator. However - I feel that Autostraddle, Heather any and all critics should also focus on the fact that making Charles transgender, and making it a focal point of his pathology re: Ali and the girls, is pandering to a low common denominator, and a transphobic one at that. In this age, the media, in all forms, has not yet accepted transgender people as people and so to codify a villian as such is perpetuating a damaging stereotype that has been around for decades. It has only been in the last 15 years that gay people are not always written as baddies - that is why they got so much support for their portrayal of Emily (and Hanna's supportive reaction, if I remember correctly). I think IMK/PLL finale 6B Supporters would do better to understand the criticisms of CeCe=Charles=A which is NOT 'Ew A=Guy who was really a Girl=Gross' but is 'Really? Is that not an awful stereotype to engage withand does THIS show need to reinforce that gross stereotype? Probably not. But What about the history of Transgender persons in media - are there enough positive representations to counteract it? Clearly not. Should we make our main, pathological villian who has tortured 4/5 16 year old pretty girls for 1/2 years a transgender character in light of that history? - I feel like anyone who reads would just say fuck NO. And that should be the approach. No critic is saying transgender people are 100% pure - obviously some are assholes, some not. But when the media portrayal is so often portraying the asshole/psychopath/baddie - then an otherwise gay/lesbian positive show doesn't get an automatic pass. This show would be better of, in this one instance, of listening to the criticisms rather than 'explaining' them away as just transphobic. To excuse it as being something the audience just 'doesn't quite get e.g. like Ali/Toby flashback wasthem at three years old' all i can say is come ON. I'd love a Troian Bellasario interview right now. She seems to have had sense about the show's problematic issues AND the medias perception of such issues.
  18. I may have spewed a little watching the Callie/Brandon sneek peek. 'They'll be upset they can't adopt you" = gross. I hate this storyline and it was NOT even a LITTLE bit hot. The fact every other single person on the show has not been at all supportive says A LOT. (Even the other liars on PLL said they thought Aria/Ezra was hot - that is wasn't is not the issue). I wish this could still be a dream/nightmare of someone. I really do.
  19. I loved the pilot. I remembered reading the books - and knowing that Piper from Charmed was on it and watching. Then I got sucked in to the pure awesome ridiculousness - 4 girls dressed to the freaking nines walking in woods looking for clues and a stalker that actually cut down an ENTIRE tree to remove a clue that could have been easily sanded down/cut out/anything other than that extravagance. The books turned ridiculous but the show was amazingly awesome....and then Ian of the milk drinking died and then season two happened (will always love the fs2 finale) and MonA (which they didn't back out of)....and now we are left with a completely ridiculous and transphobic non-sensical answer (despite what IMK claims the criticisms are) AND a seemingly neutered Ali AND every single appropriate love interest for the girls are now creepy, disgusting, Red coat or Toby. (I love Caleb. Calab can stay. Who thought Ravenswood would have paid off???). Until Ezra was walked back, I thought the show could maintain it's premise. Then Ali came back. Then EzrA was exonerated but not enough and is massively creepy and Aria and the liars still accept it. Then Ali become a church-going-slut-shamed-i-cant-do-better-than-a-25-year-old-Rosewood-cop. Then this. Seasons 1 - 3b seems to maintain watchability. the 6A finale - I wish had not yet happened. I know the show wouldn't have gone there - but A should have been Aria. Or Dr Monica Reyes.
  20. And wait - CeCe's big plan was to kidnapp Ali, drag Jason and Mr D to Radley (drugged, so they can hear everything and not react) and then BLOW IT UP!!!!!!!!!! I mean what? Unless it was also the plan for Spencer to disarm it but COME ON. MonA would have planned that but not CeCe. I guess what is a little murder/suicide between family? But nooo..please tell me more about why it is absolutely no big deal that CeCe tortured the liars for 2+ years. Also, I'm not interested in whatever the show was trying to sell about what happened to Sara 'that night' and why it is a big deal/setting her up to be the first red herring in 6B. NOPE. Nil interest sharon.
  21. What I got from this episode was: 1. Mona was the superior A. 2. Mona is just completely awesome and entertaining - from 'I am a professional identicator' to the actual stilletto heel. 3. Spencer is the best liar ever because you know she googled 'how to diffuse a bomb' just in case it came in handy. 4. None of the liars should EVER go into detective work just based on every single interaction they had with Sara Harvey in the first five bloody minutes. Otherwise...... What the hell was that? Why couldn't Charles have just been dead and CeCe using his story as a misdirect? Why did A become dumb as a rock while confessing? - the A of all other previous episode tags would have known the second the liars broke the window pane thing. The A of yore wouldn't have been so easily found in Radley but would have been in Timbuktu pretending to be Radley. Why is the audience being asked to think that it is excusable for A to have tortured 5 girls because Mr D didn't like his transgender kid? Why did the show think it is an acceptable excuse - so much so that even Hanna cared if CeCe launched herself off the roof? This is total bollocks and a reversion to the old TV Trope where anyone LGBT would be the psycho. If they wanted A to have been sympathetic and used the transgender bit - make up another UberA who is blackmailing CeCe over it. They did less to excuse Toby and Ezra. And CeCe never really wanted to kill the girls? Pretty sure Aria would have been launched out of the Halloween train in a box if not for Spencer and/or Paige (and I realise how funny it is to use Aria there). And CeCe brought in a snake to bit Spencer only to kill it herself? Goddamn it. I want the A back that removed an entire tree from a forest rather than just cut out a small bit. This reveal is just....it just blows. And how is Melissa not connected? If I don't get a Caleb reaction to all this that is just as scornful and full of disdain as imaginable then that is just a travesty. Bonus points if Mama Harin and Fields are listening in the background skulling wine.
  22. I didn't mind Monica/Doggett and/or the actors either - the lukewarm reception was probably due to the writers checking out and not giving them much to work with. I liked Reyes if for no other reason than her total love of Scully - which, if she thought Scully was hot then, wait till she sees her now.
  23. I don't mind those stories so much - particularly because with GU it was another side of the fostering program, which was what the show is/was all about at the outset. And Callie is the main character, so her life is what the show will tend to focus on. However, I agree with the whole tv plot contrivance of an unknown rich dad popping up just before an adoption takes place. I hate Callie/Brandon. I wish it was a characters nightmare. I think it was a really bad direction for the show. I think it takes away from the show, and I absolutely saw nothing 'passionate or smoldering' about callie/brandon. I think sometimes the show get the badness - from Jude asking Callie why she keeps snogging foster brothers and being removed from an otherwise healthy and happy foster hom, to the general disapproval of Stef/Lena w/r/t Callie/Brandon (which is more than PLL and Aria/Ezra seem to get). But still. I don't know if they will/even can walk back from actual sex. Not Happy Jan. Also, why have they not yet touched on Callie going to Stef/Lena when something bad happens, that may affect her adoption. What possible reason was there for Callie not to get Stef's advice about Carmen's confession and what they should do? Considering Stef has bent the rules for Brandon well..? Now there is no adoption this may just be a plotline gone by the wayside. But possibly could have been an interesting storyline - more than Callie/Brandon clearly. And also, Stef/Lena was so sad. Lena should have just told the truth! Dont they know TV Rules say if you keep a secret it is sooo much worse?!?! And I have decided that I only like Brandon relative to Stef/Lena/Mike and Jesus - because they seem genuinely happy when Brandon succeeds nd nervous for him - despite the general whiny mopefest he is otherwise (see all other 25 minutes of this episode without any other Foster involved in his storyline). Basically - Stef, Mariana and Lena are the only characters keeping this show afloat. Brandon, and now Callie, can be fast-forwarded at this point.
  24. I love Jack Bristow. Just awesome. And his disdain for Vaughn - awesome. Him and Marshall together - awesome. I just love all the Bristows - even Sydney during annoying-season-3-pining-for-Vaughn stage. And Irina. And Katya. So all the Bristows + 2/3 Derevko. But Jack was made of pure awesome.
  25. While I find it hard to believe a 7/8 year old only would be completely fine getting 2 new siblings (sibling rivalry anyone) the show has said Brandon was completely fine with it. So him cracking it at Stef about never being asked seems to be little but an attempt to either make us feel sorry for Brandon or make him look, well, not as bad as he looked. Re: Mariana and the sex - the show openly acknowledged Stef shamed her first. Plus it was pretty clear that Lena was telling Mariana to keep it quiet because of the whole Monty thing. And while they don't know about Mariana's drug debacle - they do know what Brandon has done. Lena raked Mariana over the coals over the Ana-Stef shooting thing. As far as I can tell no one said a word to Brandon after he got beat. Yes the cops took him out of the dance - but he was never charged. He hasn't had to live with the consequences of anything he has done. Except, I guess, not getting to nail Callie. I just think that at the end of the day, the show has put in things, intentionally or not, that suggest Brandon does get special treatment, which made Stef's whole speech a bit....wrong. I mean - Brandon gets his own room + the one at Mike's. He assumed he wouldn't have to share his car with his siblings. There is a bit of entitlement there. And maybe the animosity with AJ isn't racial. But AJ is basically the male black version of Callie - separated from brother in foster system - only Brandon has 0 compassion. And Callie nearly got Brandon shot 5 seconds after they met. As for AJ? Didn't steal from Bandon. I just don't see Brandon as the specialist most wonderfullest sibling snowflake who is secretly angsty and painy because his life has been pretty traumatic and life just piles on him and Stef/Lena don't care. The show bends over backwards for him.
