  1. Pretty sure the hamburger was on lettuce. I don't think they are telling us all the details of the diets at all. I mean, the "No Diet" guy is losing weight, there must be some dieting involved.
  2. Admitting that I know nothing about vegan diets, but cookies full of sugar? Really? That would throw anyone off their diet. I don't get it. I expect the Wild Diet to win.
  3. On a shallow note, with some weight on his face Spencer is quite handsome.
  4. I have known one person that I suspect is like Bindi. Always up, smiling, looking on the bright side. Very genuine about it. Haven't seen her in a while, but from Facebook she seems to be the same person and she's nearly 60. I would say people were awed by her, and everyone loved her. It really is rare to meet someone like that, and Bindi might not change either. That freestyle took a lot of core strength, so Bindi must have been doing something before the show that developed it. Wrestling crocs, perhaps? So football, skating, gymnastics, prior dancing, and now croc wrestling are good pre-requisites for DWTS.
  5. I was wondering about the extra troupe dancers too. There were several cute guys that remain a mystery, though Tom did name two of the ladies in one of the last numbers. I'm thinking one of the guys is Sharna's honey. And there were a couple of very cute guys dancing with Jenna. Speaking of which, Jenna got a lot of face time last night. Anyone thinking she might get a shot at Pro next season? It's been out with the mature, in with the fresh faces for a while now. Except for Tony. Derek, Mark, Peta, and Sharna better watch their backs. They are becoming the elder pros on this show.
  6. I guess I'm Mary Sunshine, because I was thoroughly entertained. The Magic Mike number was perfect for the audience at the Grove. They ate it up! Carlos and the guys were so much better than the guys in the movie (with a couple of exceptions). Heck, I even enjoyed seeing Gilligan's Island again! For all the going on about Bindi exuding joy, it actually flowed out of her tonight in that last dance. It caught Derek up in the flow and went right through the TV. Great TV moment. Nick danced his best tonight too, glad he did the waltz again instead of a BSB number. But Bindi really nailed it. Her hair didn't. Must have been a negotiation. She didn't want bangs, someone thought she should have them, so fake ones were pasted to her head. It's been like that for several weeks and tonight it went way out of control. Even enjoyed the musical numbers tonight, lots of interesting staging. Usually fast forward to the dancing parts. Loved Emma's dress. Hubby commented that he liked Andy's music, but Nick is a better singer. There's an old saying "there's no such thing as bad publicity". I envision producer meetings where they discuss ways to get the internet talking about favorites, and ringers, and conspiracy theories. Seems to be working.
  7. Artem and Peta were wonderful, I miss the pro dances too. Partner dancing is hard ya'll. Add steps, technique, hold and posture to leading/following, you've got a brain workout right there. I'm not so impressed by solo work, like hip hop, though it does take a bit of talent. Jaw droppers to me last night were Nick's jive (he did poop out though), Carlos' foxtrot because he finally "got it", Alek's freestyle for the choreo, and Bindi's freestyle. She just danced so beautifully, she's learned so much. I adore all the pros, maybe not equally. And maybe not Louis, that dance he gave Tamar was just selfish. But I empathize with them since I used to teach, and can't imagine all the extra pressure they have. So proud of these babies. That's what I watch the show for, to watch their "journey" every season. The celeb journey is incidental to me, but it's nice to get to know some of them. Not all.
  8. It's got to be hard and stressful every week, trying to top yourself. I'm sure he's not happy that Allison out-choreographed him with the team dances this year, he probably feels like he dropped the proverbial ball. But my goodness, he's given us some great moments with more to come. I've enjoyed seeing Mark up his game the last few seasons too. In fact, most of the young pros work very hard to be creative and fresh. They have to, to stay on the show. It's all a bonus for us. I will admit I adore Derek and his talent. But it doesn't drive me to hate Val, or Maks, or any of the "family". Or post on their threads saying derogatory things about them. I don't get why that's needed. These young people are all working their hardest to have the best career they can. Some will get more recognition than others, but they don't actually have power over that part of it. And yeah, we've often commented at home on how Derek's actual dancing reminds us of Gene or Fred at different moments. It's style, slink, musicality. He's not a powerful contemporary dancer like Jacob Karler, but he's matured into stuff that's his own. If you want to see him dance big, go back to videos of his first couple of seasons on the show. It's pretty LOL worthy at times.
  9. As far as the team dance to This is Halloween, it was pretty obvious in the package who was in charge. The choreographic challenger to Derek is .... Allison. Guess that's why she's on the show.
  10. Whoa. I happen to love Derek's ballroom dancing. I think his technique is gorgeous, and he's a very musical dancer. And I've actually got some training. Think what you may of him, and his relationship with the producers, but no faulting his dancing here.
  11. Yes, lots of interesting edits last night. Witney reminds me of Chelsea, very laid back and kind of snarky, though even younger. "I've got a Backstreet Boy", "these are YOUR points". When she's on screen though, you can't take your eyes off her. So, Alexa needs a cheerleader and Carlos needs poking in the muscles. Who knew? Worked really well for them. I was kind of astounded at Carlos, like Hayes in the jazz the week before. Big transformation. One truth about this show, jazz/contemporary and Argentine Tango will always get higher than average scores. It's like a gift. Love, love Emma. Got to see her live on a cruise ship, dancing with other pros. She's an amazing, dynamic performer. Wanted to be an actress, and you can tell. She's also a complete sweetheart, which is why she probably gets the "too ripe or not ripe enough". If Alek is going to make her happy, I'm all for it. Mark was handling Paula so well, I yelled at the screen "stop it! They'll start giving you the oldsters!" His milkman entrance was a classic.
  12. I don't think you're alone in thinking Derek is gay, lots of mid schoolers in his life went after him for it. But he's keeping quiet about his private life these days. Though rumor has it that the very beautiful new troupe member Hayley is his SO. So I guess he is keeping secrets, so you're partially right.
  13. Isn't it possible that Kim was the one going home this week, and they gave her this out instead? That way, they literally avoided adding insult to injury. And no, I won't be signing the petition. 15 year old boys just don't tend to have the coordination that teen girls have. That's why actual ballroom competitions have a separate category for Juniors. I give him a break for that. I like that he's going for it, and not trying to in some way be "cool". Unlike some other young guys that have been on the show. DH and I watched Gilligan when we were kids, hate to admit it. So we loved that bit. Though didn't watch Paula that much. I never watched her cooking show, did she think she was the Queen there, too? Absolutely loved the Downtown Abbey waltz. Sigh. Sharna looked so gorgeous in that dress. I used to make more technical comments on the dances, since we used to compete. But seems like these days I just let it go and watch for the spectacle. Something was really bugging me about Tamar though, the way she was holding herself, her expression, her lack of sharpness in the upper body movement maybe. The legs are killer, though!
  14. Oops. I think they're going to struggle with Jr's storylines this year. He's gone from looking the part of a socially awkward, derpy kid, to looking like the younger brother that Zoey's friends are going to have a crush on. Enjoyed the episode. Might try to get my husband to watch, he only saw the pilot.
  15. I can't stand the yelling announcer. Have to almost mute the TV to watch the show. It's so cheesy, seems like they're trying to create a fake wrestling atmosphere. And this show is so NOT that.
  16. I was hoping they would consider the cute blind dater that won last season of TAR. He' very handsome, smart, capable and a half millionaire. Too bad I've forgotten his name.
  17. I just watched the episodes on Lifetime, and they weren't in the correct order. The last one I watched is "Wife". But! What happened to Anna? I assume she got sent home, but when?
  18. Like others, I wanted to know who the actress was because I'd seen her before. Could not have imagined that I saw her in Pitch Perfect 2! Too bad her role was so brief, but she is probably busy becoming a STAR. Amazing screen presence. Could not watch most of the battle, and the end was extremely creepy. Will have to watch again. I am enjoying the Dany and Tyrion show!
  19. We had a couple of bad episodes with Hayley where her non-stop nagging was sounding a lot like Lucy in Charlie Brown. But interestingly, she was usually right about what she was saying, and Blair WAS ignoring her. She's actually proved to be capable and really smart. A little crazy, but you can't have everything. Yes, Jenny, we know you have a boyfriend. But you don't have to treat Jelani like he has the cooties. Tyler is a meta-human. And I was thinking Laura would have trouble with that kayak challenge, but she finished. Either the waves calmed down for her, or they didn't show that part. Good episode. Actually caught my husband's attention, he sat down and watched it with me. I don't think he believed me when I told him Hayley is the crazy one.
  20. I like Derek very much, and think he is extremely talented. He's the star of the show, no doubt. Didn't mind him being so involved in choreography, being in the dance, even the singing. I minded that Erin didn't even ask Nastia a question after, and talked to Derek. And thought it was weird that Derek was always in the middle of the threesome instead of you know, the girl. Sasha and Nastia both deserve a little more respect. Willow made me sad. She's a sweet girl and was having so much fun! I hope she's ok. Bad package for Rumer, Val looked bad. Don't hurt your partner, Val. Also very weird dance for Riker during the dance off. Allison needs to avoid the bare midriff outfits, she's not soft and girly at all. And she dances SO aggressively it's just not good sometimes.
  21. That was a strange reaction from Noah, but I like that he's defending Sharna. I love her this season. None of the judges have said this, but one problem with Derek and Nastia's tangos is that, they are supposed to have body contact during the dance. For both the Argentine and standard tango, the couple should be in contact in the pelvis area when in hold. Maybe Nastia has a problem with that, which may be the reason for some of the "connection" comments. Why did she switch to Sasha? I mean, he's a sweetie, and the one clip we saw of her with Henry was a little weird. She should be used to tough coaches. I like Patti, but it was time for her to go.
  22. I want to know what Emma said about Rumer's dance. Probably the same things being said here. As I said, I wasn't in critique mode. I usually do look for things like bounce etc. I liked the dance while they were doing it but immediately forgot it. I want to be Artem's "Treasure"!
  23. Sorry, no technical comments to make. Disney night just entertains the heck out of me. I just kind of sit there and smile and love every bit of it. I'm a die-hard Disney geek. Suzanne had breast cancer. She wrote two books about it. She's a champion of bio-identical hormones.
  24. I did a lot of sniping at the tv last night, hate to admit. Suzanne mostly. First, the little girl hairdo, then the revisionist relationship with John Ritter, and then the "it's a Chrissy thing" about her posture. Yeah, the show ended about 40 years ago, time to stand up straight. Oh, and I hated the dance. Actually never minded Suzanne Sommers until she came on this show. Ok, I will go now. I was a little bored last night.
