  1. I would say as far as ringers, Derek has gotten three in how many seasons? Nicole, Shawn, and Nastia. He only won with one. The rest he turned in to ringers. Marilu's memory contributes to her "ringer" status more than her training due to her age. She won't need to practice as much.
  2. Just had a thought. Most of the older contestants, even trained dancers, have had a hard time because their bodies break down with all the practice. I mean, remember Bindi's feet? And the older ones especially need the practice so they remember the routines. Marilu won't need that. She will remember routines instantly, along with technique corrections. She can probably be perfect practicing an hour a day as long as Derek has his act together. So if she turns out to be a ringer and sticks around to the end, it will have more to do with her memory than her training. Though the training is an advantage too.
  3. I watched Sharna and James do a FaceTime (I think) today and have to say that James is a charmer. Funny too. They're already getting along like gangbusters, and Sharna says he has potential. But maybe she's being generous, we shall see.
  4. Amber Riley was a shock to me on the first night of DWTS. And I watched every episode of Glee. In the dance numbers, Amber was usually hidden in the back. Derek saw something in her that the Glee choreographer never tapped. And I was thinking more about Rikki's personality than her size. She seemed to need endless amounts of encouragement to me. Could be I'm remembering someone else though. I know she was on Broadway and had done some dancing.
  5. No real heat unless Maks is judging. Then the gloves are off. I believe it when Derek says the producers are trying to not give him the ringer. Amber Riley, Bethany Mota, Bindi Irwin, Amy Purdy, Rikki Lake. A couple of times when he DID get the ringer he didn't win, Shawn Johnson and Nastia anyone? Nicole has been a while. He seems at his best with the more challenging partners. And if anyone thinks Marilu is a ringer, let's bring up a couple of former "seasoned" professional ballerinas. Jane Seymour was a former Kirov ballerina and was 56 when she was on the show. Lea Thompson danced with ABT and was 53.
  6. Marilu was a ballroom dance instructor? She must know some, at least social dancing, because she hosted the ballroom shows on TV for some years.
  7. So Julianne has a screechy voice? Someone needs to adjust their audio. I'd prefer her as a pro, but she is miles better as a judge than Maks. Last time he judged, I predicted who he would praise and who he would pan BEFORE they danced and I was 100% correct. He's fine as a pro. I will miss Mark if he is out. Love his choreography when he has a decent partner. After a certain age, eidetic memories become a bit less reliable. I used to have one too, though nothing like hers. I hope Marilu is in good shape, will be fun to watch. "Seasoned" ha!
  8. Leighdeer, I think you've got it right. The Rodgers family seem to be "upright", right wing, Christian Republicans. Aaron broke up with his nice hometown Christian girlfriend/fiancee to date Olivia. Olivia is an Obama and gay rights supporter, speaks publicly about her sex life with Aaron, and is rumored to be a Scientologist. I'm sure the family hates her, and it's quite possible that Aaron has decided to stick by his girlfriend. If so, I think it's sweet.
  9. Joshua got replaced, not Jonathan. And I think I glanced him in the audience.
  10. Don't hate Sophie either, she's lovely, and this is only her second acting job. The other was a kid's show, I think. I do hope she improves as an actress. But I won't get past the fact that a dark eyed brunette with dyed looking hair is Brianna. Nope. She is tall for a woman (5'8") but the other leads are taller and it seems off. And I do know that Sam's hair is dyed. But he has the coloring for a natural redhead and it looks good.
  11. Well I loved most of it, but Brianna kept taking me out of the scenes. Maybe because she's a Brit doing an American accent, but she just didn't fit with this cast of excellent actors. I'm sorry, but she should be taller, have light eyes, actually look like a natural redhead. And be beautiful. Having a facial structure like Sam Heughan is just not enough. Felt bad for Roger (who is nearly perfect) for having to carry some scenes by himself. Sophie was giving me flashbacks to Lennon Stella on Nashville. Yeah, I loved Brianna in the books, was really looking forward to seeing her on the series. I'm sure they could have found a tall, gorgeous American redhead who can act.
  12. To me the most egregious singing was on "Beautiful Day", Nyle and Peta's song. Actually commented that it was good Nyle couldn't hear it. Gosh, her dress really was chopped now that I watch that again. Shame, but I get it. Also watched Paige and Mark again. She has that habit that trained dancers do, dancing with her knees apart. Ballroom dancers have a very feminine style and keep their knees close. I'm sure they're working on it. Could be a Tina Turner thing, but pretty sure Paige does it in other dances. We're at group dances now. Derek is missed. It was a nipple cover. There are photos. And yes please, bring Emma back.
  13. Uh, you don't get on a college dance team without a lot of training. It's extremely competitive. That said, absolutely loved Ginger tonight. Before this, she seemed way over promoted to me. Now I see what all the fuss was about. Gorgeous dance, best of the season. Bruno is pretty confused I think. He called Witney, Lindsey. Will miss Von and his charmingly dorky personality.
  14. Was indifferent to Dalton, but that second performance pissed me off. His voice cracked, he appeared to be sobbing, but couldn't come up with a single tear. Did he forget it's HD? Really thought Harry was going to say something. Trent was kind of a star last night. Sorry Sonika is gone, loved her voice and she seemed like such a sweetheart. Sia wants to have a normal life when she isn't doing music. She's said many times that's the reason for the wigs, she wants to go to Target. Ha. Can't dislike anyone for that. Lady Gaga used to do this too. I loved Kat McPhee in her season. I did hear the stuff about using Idol to gain a career. Didn't hurt my feelings at all. Means she's just like the other 2 million or so young women in LA that try to do the same thing, but maybe don't have her talent or looks. And yes, she's got a TV series, just got renewed for season 3 or 4.
  15. Or maybe just a guy too busy to date. He doesn't seem to have any free nights. And can you imagine his Match.com listing? "Must be ok with seeing the occasional monster". Adalind is right there, and he doesn't have to hide stuff from her.
  16. Me! I like Adalind when she isn't a Hexen beast. She's got the right amount of snark, and the actress delivers it well. Better than always trying to make Wu happen. I mostly watch Grimm for the Portland settings, but do enjoy the touches of humor.
  17. Ashley is 5'9', so I doubt it would be Louis. I'm sorry, but I have to say this. What is Ginger Zee thinking? She's got a three month old baby and a job, and now she's going to rehearse 4-6 hours a day and fly cross country twice a week? Last time I checked, 3 month old babies like to be held and fed a LOT. This is crazy. She must be really ADHD if she thought this was a good idea.
  18. Doug Flutie is 5'10". Small for a quarterback, but hardly diminutive. Poor Edyta, if that's the case. But she was getting some geezers even before she left, wasn't she? Now DH probably won't watch with me, he hates that guy. Something has to happen for Emma, please. Is Lindsay a Pro for sure? I like Lindsay, but Emma.
  19. MacKenzie irritates me with that song. The lyrics are kind of silly and the melody is such a rip off of a Damien Rice song. That's why Keith was puzzled by it the first time he heard it. I love Sonika, just love her. I do hope she gets a chance to get more comfortable with performing. Haven't voted since Adam, but might have to if she stays on. I'm actually pretty partial to all the youngsters. And I sympathize with Jenn, though I don't care for her singing. Pretty sure she thought the eyebrows were a great idea, and couldn't be talked out of it. Remember JHud and the dress a friend made for her?
  20. I really thought Lauren did tone down her performance with McKenzie, when they were singing together. When they sang individually she let it go. Now Caleb completely stole that song from James, who seemed perfectly fine with it. Wasn't nice, though. Possible that Jeneve insisted on wearing one of her own outfits, she wore stuff like that all along. And then the faces she was making. Oh dear. Keith was right. Melted a little bit with both Sonika and Gianna tonight. Sonika admitting she has only sung for some weddings and at school, what a leap she is making. And Gianna really seemed like a kid tonight. I'm pretty sure when JLo looks at her she sees her daughter "all growed up". She can't stop smiling at Gianna. Kind of sweet actually.
  21. Generate789, could not agree with you more! And didn't even realize it until you said that, just kind of faded away. There is only one Adam. Now, if Aaron Tveit had done the show (he auditioned, then decided to stay in school), that would have been something. It's been bugging me so much since McKenzie did his "original song" and got all the praise. DD straightened me out, she choreographed for her school recital to Damien Rice "Delicate" back in 2008. Go give it a listen.
  22. Well, grass fed raw milk cheese is one of things I'm trying to add back to my diet. It's got probiotics like yogurt, but also lots of CLA like raw milk which is hard to come by. I only eat about an ounce at a time though. And pastured pork is a thing. We get it from a farmer in the panhandle of Texas that delivers to our area. It's really tasty. It's pretty easy to find beef, there are websites like Eat Wild that help, but harder to find chicken and pork. And not cheap, but as they say, cheaper than getting sick. Pastured eggs are available at the Farmer's market and at grocery stores.
  23. As to Kurt losing during his "cheat week", wouldn't work for me! But Abel's book is actually called the "Fat Burning Man". This version of the paleo diet (there are many) is designed to convert your body from carb burning to fat burning by lowering the carbs and increasing the good fat and protein in the diet. It actually works, and it does seem that Kurt has made the conversion and is losing weight even with what were probably minor cheats. I love that he confessed them all. Also, Abel may have shared a few cheat tips. For instance, if you have some fermented or vinegary veggies when eating a simple carb like donut holes, it helps keep your blood sugar from spiking. To an extent. Had to laugh though, new converts to Paleo eating are always trying to share the plan. An old joke redone: how can you tell if someone is a crossfitter/ Paleo dieter? No problem, they'll tell you! Was very surprised at the talk about pastured and grass fed meat though, didn't think they were going to allow that. How nice to have a barbecue place like that nearby. Will confess I teared up a bit when Jasmin and her husband did the wedding ring thing. And his willingness to cook for her diet is very sweet, glad that he's on board. And losing weight too! She really should succeed with that level of support.
  24. Didn't get the feeling that cLean Mama had explained a diet plan to her client, at all. Tomatoes and salmon sounds healthy if you know very little about dieting. And Reporter lady (not remembering names) even said that it was good to know about food choices. That salad though, probably kept her full for about 10 minutes. The martial arts program and Superfoods will do well, the diets sound very close to the Paleo (Wild) diet and should result in decent weight loss. Well, except for cake. Seems like that would trip her up but she doesn't seem to be doing it anymore. I like both of the remaining female trainers a lot, and Abel seems quite calm and sane. One of the tenets of the paleo diet is not doing chronic cardio, so will be interesting to see how the half marathon is handled. Now that clean Mama is gone, I only have to fast forward through the looney No Diet guy.
