  1. I don't find that drag and roller derby names often overlap, but there is a derby ref in my area named Loren Order.
  2. The only thing I would add is that he was pretty pleased with himself about illegally foraging in Golden Gate Park.
  3. I second this. I went to high school in the early-mid 2000s and still saw this kind of homophobia in my rurual, but not Southern, high school. Not a single person was openly gay (several of us have come out since); it would have been absolute social suicide. At one point there was a rumor going around that two girls were sleeping together. It was the worst thing anyone could imagine that they might be lesbians. They were ostracized, despite there being no evidence that they actually were gay/bi. I'm not sure if it was related to this, or if their families just happened to move, but both of them transferred schools. Luckily, by the time my sister started high school 7 years later, students were much more open-minded, and the school even started a GSA.
  4. I've always heard "sister from another mister" and "brother from another mother". I like it because they rhyme.
  5. He was a brewer/brewery owner before becoming governor. Still a big advocate for Colorado's beer scene.
  6. Yep. That paper doll thing was not a talent, and her Celine was way worse than Chi Chi's Patti. This should have been Milk's third time in the bottom, not Chi Chi's. (And I'm by no means a fan of Chi Chi; I'm fine if she goes next week.)
  7. This episode didn't do The Stanley any justice. It's beautiful and so, so cool. I guess they chose weird shots/boring parts of the hotel to shoot in.
  8. I loved when he called it “cute as fuck”. I didn’t think much of Joe F. until these last two main episodes. Now I’m totally rooting for him in LCK. So bummed Fati didn’t move on with him.
  9. I love floral flavors in my food and beverages. Give me them all! This really bothered me too. Why were they trying to call it poutine? Especially when green chili cheese fries are kind of a staple here in Denver. I don’t know why Carrie wouldn’t just embrace that. I haven’t been a big fan of mustache Joe up to this point, but I did really like his TH about basketball. That was funny. I haven’t eaten at Carrie’s place, but I really want to now. I can recommend Acorn and Work & Class.
  10. I agree. I was never a huge Glee person, and I haven't seen him in anything else. But I think he's doing a fantastic job in this. That said, after really enjoying the first two episodes, I just hated this one. So over the top. And unlike, Gianni, they gave me no reason to connect with/care about Lee, so I was just kind of bored watching his story. And I really don't care about his cosmetics tycoon wife, however good an actress Judith Light may be.
  11. I agree that a great chef can make poor ingredients into a gourmet meal, but I disagree that anyone can turn good ingredients into a good dish. I've seen some terrible cooks. If you don't have a basic understanding of what to do in a kitchen, you'll ruin great ingredients.
  12. Yep, that came up for me when Charles Manson died. There were Christians saying that he was going to heaven because he became a Christian and asked for forgiveness. I'm not saying that I don't think people can ever make up for the wrongs they've done/change their ways, but I don't think *just* asking for forgiveness is enough. There's no indication that Manson did any good deeds to make up for his horrible crimes. (Also, I don't believe in an afterlife, so "balancing the scales" is kind of moot to me. I just think people should do good things. And if you did wrong in the past, start doing good now.)
  13. I certainly can't speak for all Christian denominations, but the Protestant church I was raised in taught that it doesn't really matter what you do on Earth. As long as you accept Jesus and ask for giveness for whatever sins you may have committed, you're good. (And that's the impression that I get from Catholicism too, as long as you go to confession, you're fine. But I'm not Catholic, so there could be more to it that I don't know.) So it's actually really simple, just as long as you're able to ask for forgiveness before you die. So if you committed a sin since the last time you prayed/went to confession and then die suddenly, you're screwed. But if you're able ask for forgiveness on your death bed, you're all good. Feels like a cop out to me, but I'm no longer a Christian, so... (Of course, the church isn't encouraging you to sin and just go ask for forgiveness, and there's a lot of guilt, but you are supposed to be free and clear as soon as you ask.)
  14. "I was eliminated unfairly." 1) It's a subjective judging based on the judges' tastes. 2) You were EC didn't taste the fucking food! What the hell are you talking about?!
  15. It's not clear to me what the timing was on being chosen by the birth mother, so he may have already agreed to be on the show before the birth mom picked them to adopt. But if that was all in place before he was chosen to be on Top Chef, then I agree with you; he shouldn't have accepted for this season, leaving his wife to care for a newborn without his help for however many weeks.
  16. Hope you're feeling better, @Sarah D. Bunting. #whatssarahsick
  17. Denverite here. The problem is really the time of year. Mid-May to mid-June is notorious for afternoon storms rolling off the mountains and into Denver. Aside from that chunk, I find the weather to be absolutely gorgeous. (Also, yes, the mountains can still get decent snow in May.) If they had started filming 6 weeks later, the weather would have been superb. While I've been hearing about horrible snow storms and sub-zero temps in the Northeast and Midwest, our winter temps have mostly been upper 40s to lower 60s and not much snow. (Again, this is Denver. If you drive an hour into the mountains, it's a different story.)
  18. I don't see what the big deal is. It doesn't look to me like Brother hid the plastic wrap. Tu couldn't find it for whatever reason. Later, when Brother needed it, he went and found it.
  19. This episode really did nothing for me. At this point, I’m mostly just watching because of the podcast.
  20. 30 Rock won a GLAAD award?!!! Definitely looking into this.
  21. Sadly, as I really liked Kwame, that is my assumption as well.
  22. Yep. I love Tina Fey, but she knows better than this; she just doesn't want to admit she's wrong. It's disappointing.
  23. Anyone know when they come back from winter break?
  24. Perfect! Max used items found in the hiker's backpack (radio, car clicker, etc.) to make an explosive devise that they tricked the bat man (Batman? lol) into picking up. Then they used a compass from the backpack to find their way back to the car. Max and Annie know that they both like each other, but Annie said that she has stuff to figure out (her douchey bf, I guess) and he has stuff to work out (his missing wife, implied), so once that's all settled, "Maybe". "Yeah, maybe." Anyone else annoyed with how long they're taking to return to the initial alien abduction plot and Max's wife? These case of the week episodes aren't holding my interest all that well.
  25. This episode was a down note for me. I like adding Annie into the Leroy/Max dynamic in theory, but I didn't think there was a lot of chemistry in this episode, even between Max and Leroy. And the B plot was nothing. I kind of like Barry, but LaFrey is incredibly boring.
