  1. Let this be a cautionary tale to future contestants....don't piss off Probst!
  2. This show brings the crazy and I wonder if the writers actually have a long term plan on character development....but I can't wait for it to return in November!
  3. Me too! Here's another thought though. Imagine how entertaining a Jenny and Hayley team could be...I think that would be fitting. We'd all need to watch on mute after a while though...
  4. Those hats had an oddly large look. It wasn't just a high crown, they seemed thickish and buIky around. I was wondering if they were actually helmets with a hat cover.
  5. Nope, you're not alone! I'm right there with you on all points!
  6. Did Jenny think that aggressively screaming at Jelani was going to make him succeed at the football task any faster? She more than equaled Hayley in being annoying. Blair is a very special person. I don't know how he kept calm while Hayley berated him for not helping. He would be great during an emergency. I was would have been fine with any of the top three teams winning. All in all a good season.
  7. Did someone along the way tell Pettifleur she can get away with saying anything and everything as long as it is delivered with a smile? I find her thoroughly unlikeable and have taken to fast-forwarding through most of the time she is on the screen. Jackie and her use of couture...can't see how Gina can be accused of insulting her by calling her a Bogan when that label seems so often to be a fairly accurate description. I didn't realize her profession is being a psychic. Bangs suit Lydia. The funniest thing she has said in both seasons so far was that she should have picked up a Matchbox Bentley for Pettifleur. Glad we got another look at those paintings. Janet always looks in need of moisturizer. Gamble is harmless. I'm still on the Gina train. I don't think she always seems right, but I can give her a pass on most of the nonsense the others harp on about. She seems like the type to have a biting sense of humor that can be misinterpreted or used against her. I don't see her as evil though.
  8. That is exactly what I was thinking of. Now that was an awesome finale show...for so many reasons! I think that was one of the best seasons though. I actually went to see the tour that year. I don't think I ever considered going to another since then. Whatever rhythm his body was responding to didn't seem to have any connection to the music the rest of the audience was hearing.
  9. Not one of the show's better finales. At least they get one more shot at it next year. Clark has musical talent for sure, but I have found him lacking in stage presence. Not sure that is something that can be adequately taught at this point. He seems like a sincere and nice enough guy. I wish him well. I never expected Nick to go this far, let alone win the whole thing. I think he was surprised too. He looked like he was shocked not to get the boot last night and was overwhelmed tonight. It didn't seem like he thought he had this in the bag. I appreciate humility. He got better as the show went on and with the right songs could do well. I grew up a couple of towns over from his and I am sure many in Guilford and the Greater New Haven area must have lost their minds tonight! It seemed like Caleb was suppose to get at least a smidgeon more attention than Ryan just asking him to make his way through the crowd to bring the trophy. I wonder if the other contestants rushed the stage a minute too quickly for Ryan to do it as planned. Oh, Jax. I felt sorry for you getting the bum's rush last night until you thanked the show for giving you "a platform".
  10. The thing I found super obnoxious was the scene where Carole was having her make-up applied while lying down on a couch and having a conversation. I'm not a make-up artist but I imagine that it would be somewhat difficult to do the job properly. Dorinda gets in some of the best lines and observations. Hope she sticks around. I'm still not sure why Kristen was asked back for a second season.
  11. OMG...what possessed Qaasim during Nick's final song!?! He was just as frenetic in the audience as he was while performing. Maybe more. Not a Jax fan, but wow, considering she was in the final three she deserved more than that crappy send-off.
  12. This show has improved immeasurably now that Billie Piper lost that awful accent she was using during the first season!
  13. Just remembered another moment that had me yelling, "Just shut up!" last night...during the dance segment the woman critiquing Rochelle told her she had to smile throughout the dance. Rochelle then even kvetched about being unable to fake a smile (on top of everything else she was down on). She was beyond tiresome with the complaining and negativity in this last episode. I know there is money at stake and that things can get a bit stressful at times, but some contestants need a reality check about how great the opportunity to be a part of the show is with all those unusual experiences in other countries...even for those who do not win.
  14. Ugh...always hate when someone starts up about how they could use the prize money more than other contestants in the race. Queen for a Day went off the air in 1964. It's not as though a lot of people with better financial prospects didn't put in a lot of hard work or sacrifice in the choices they made along the way to get what they have.
  15. I've read that Stars Hollow was based on Washington Depot, CT...it's northwest of Guilford and a lot smaller, but yeah, Guilford is a nice shoreline town and it looks like Nick got a great reception there.
  16. Humility...I think Ms. Lopez and I have a different interpretation of what that word means.
  17. It gets even crazier when you discover how many of them are married to on another, are the offspring of well-known actors, or are siblings, cousins, etc. Edward and James Fox are a good example. Acting brothers, one with actress wives, both with acting children, several of whom have married other actors...many of them very recognizable and working a lot. Am I imagining that this most recent season of Call the Midwife is more of a downer than in the past. It seems as though each and every episode thus far has been filled with sad. I thought there were some episodes in the past with a bit more humor and a few uneventful births thrown in for relief. It seems like the happiest moments this season have been bittersweet at best. Don't get me wrong. I very much enjoy the show, but it seems like the only feel good is going to be Fred and Violet (hopefully!) getting together. Violet, by the way, is played by Annabelle Apison who played Monica Gallagher in the UK Shameless for those playing the "only 12 actors in all of England" game :) I keep waiting for Frank to stumble by when I see her. She's also the new pharmacist on Doc Martin...
  18. It has been great to watch the race without: -Select teams anointing themselves as being the "good" people while actively shunning/mocking/disparaging/attempting to derail those they have decided are evil/mean/undeserving teams. -Teams of incapable people who are only able to get ahead by relying on others helping them out. Things were getting really ugly for awhile there, particularly during the last all-star season (speaking of which, I woke up after falling asleep in front of the TV the other night to find Connor and Dave hosting an infomercial for Travelocity...not a selling point for this viewer). I don't watch this show for high school drama. After the first couple of episodes this season was there anyone watching who would have believed that Blair and Hayley would become one of the most entertaining teams?
  19. Pettifleur strikes me as being shrewd and conniving. It seems she knows that Gina, for better or worse, is the star of the show and wants to make herself relevant (or possibly snatch the crown) by creating strife involving her. Most of all she reminds me of too many women I met during my expat days who took advantage of being in another country with no ties to their past and where they could reinvent themselves. I hope that she goes the same route as Andrea at the end of this season because her constant attempts to be one up on other cast members has the same affect on me as a mosquito buzzing around my head...annoying and expecting an unpleasant strike at any time. I know art appreciation is subjective...but Lydia's nude art together with that humungous portrait over the fireplace...yikes! That kitchen though...very nice! If Gina had used the other cast member's images and outright reference to the show like "The Real Housewives of Melbourne Collection" I could understand the other women taking issue with being connected to the collection. It reeks of producer driven drama. All Jackie has added to the show is her self-proclaimed psychic ability (although some claim to be convinced), talking to angels, and that her husband was once in a band that enjoyed some level of success. It's all old news this season and it seems she has nothing more to offer. The best she can do to try and stay relevant is get involved in the other women's business because she's not bringing up anything new and interesting about herself. I would be happy to see her leave at the end of this season too. That being said, if she's lobbying for a shot at one of the US franchises she should shoot for New Jersey. I think I can see her and her angels being a really good fit there.
  20. Yes! I was going to comment about that too because I found it so annoying. In fairness it doesn't take much with this one because the girl seriously bugs me. She comes off as though she already fancies herself to be in the big leagues...she's not an "artist" yet. She may have some raw material but she still has a looooooooong way to go.
  21. So what was that with a half-naked Bethenny dashing back and forth in the bathroom while preparing for the party?
  22. The Munich Oktoberfest usually starts around mid-September and is over during the first week of October (i.e. in this year it begins 9/19 and ends 10/4). According to Wikipedia this season was filmed 11/12/14 - 12/6/14.
  23. Will's verbal attack was one of the ugliest things shown on any Survivor episode to date. Anyone who was witness to that and did nothing to curb it is just as bad as Will. I think I'll just check in here to find out who get's voted off from here on and not watch any more episodes of this season. This cast is simply vile for the most part.
  24. You have a point there! I think I would put my money on Heather if those two lock horns.
  25. I didn't start watching this franchise until the season after Bethenny left. I have read so many comments over the years since from people who seemed to think she was really great. I only knew her from the Martha Stewart Apprentice season...and didn't like her. I thought she had perhaps changed based on the positive remarks about her time on Real Housewives. After watching the first two episodes of this season I am ready for her to leave again.
