  1. I was just looking through the fashion week photos again. Tell me that the pattern on Amanda's maxi in shades of blue doesn't look like a Russia nesting doll wearing a bathing suit.
  2. Based on the way the season has played out, I think it's a toss up between Amanda and Sean. I don't think the judges have been nearly as enamoured with Kini's designs. Overall it's been a disappointing season and I don't feel strongly enough about any of the remaining contestants designs to pick a personal favorite. Part of me thinks that a Char win would be best only because that would be symbolic of the whole season. I might be in the minority, but I don't really care about how nice or not the winner (or any contestant) is. They're looking to be in the business of selling looks, not personalities. As long as they produce clothes that people llike they'll sell. It's not like the designers are going to jump on the backs of the clients and be worn along with the fashions.
  3. Let's not forget that Malan was the 2nd contestant to get the auf his season. When I think back to the overall caliber of designers in the earlier seasons it just makes this latest season that more disappointing. It's either the pool they have to choose from that sucks or they need to be chosen by people with a better eye for design/construction.
  4. I think Korina's aufing was more a matter of hours before this competition...like the night before.
  5. I honestly didn't hate Amanda's look, but it looked like loungewear from 30-40 years ago....for Andre Leon Talley or Mrs. Roper. Whether Korina got paired with Char by chance or manipulation, under the circumstances it was like rubbing her nose in it. I think Korina was reacting honestly. She looked like a raw nerve struggling to hold it together. It was better that she left. I can see Char having a future as a neighborhood dressmaker only. Even Anya with her lack of sewing skill produced better designs. I have no idea what is going on this season but the whole Char situation is really weird. To have her remaining as an official finalist for fashion week is just bizarre. Did anyone else think that Sean's face was saying something different than his mouth when he was listening to Char while they were eating in the beginning of the episode? I think he understood exactly where Korina was coming from, particularly after his experience when he was teamed with Char and had to go beyond giving just a few tips while she was struggling through her construction.
  6. Judging the collections is mostly subjective, but fit and craftsmanship have a place. I can't get past the horrible fit of Amanda's beige trousers. Who did she make that crotch for? All I see in Char's collection is the kind of cheap look and poor fit from a mall store marketing inexpensive, junior clothing. Kini didn't exactly knock it out of the park, particularly with that last outfit that looks like he put a carton over the model's shoulders and finished it off with a giant panty. Everyone else had some some interesting things. At least they appear to be fitted and finished properly. I was most surprised to find I liked much of Sandhya's collection considering how much I disliked everything she made up until her auf. It seems unlikely at this point that the final three won't be Sean, Amanda, and Kini...if a final four, the likelihood of that person being Emily is slim considering how she's been judged until now.
  7. The link is to a site not on Facebook. Actually, there were similarities between the designs shown in Vogue and Korina/Emily's "collection"...particularly Korina's caped look. Of course the Vogue fashions were created with the luxury of time and fine fabrics rather than a PR challenge.
  8. Gina didn't do herself any favors, but she'd have to do a lot worse for me to dislike her as much as I dislike Andrea and Lydia. I find watching Andrea highly entertaining though. She acts out being outraged like a hammy stage actor.
  9. http://www.anneofcarversville.com/glamtribale/2014/8/24/karlie-kloss-in-dark-horse-by-mario-testino-for-vogue-septem.html found a link to this on Korina's FB page. There's more than a hint of sour grapes, but I can 't exactly blame her considering all of Nina's comments.
  10. I totally agree! Regardless of personal taste, Korina clearly is very passionate and dedicated to designing and creating actual clothing. It must have killed her to have her work judged against Char's poorly executed hobble skirt and jacket...and that miserable jacket was the result of a lot of tecnical assistance from Sean and took up nearly all of her time allottment. Char couldn't even fit the neckline and relied on sloppy tucking. It was a mess. This coming as the culmination of seeing the judges fall all over some really questionable designs (Sandhya....) while repeatedly discounting more deserving designers like Fade and Emily. Forcing Char and Korina to make a last minute outfit was like saying that their first outfits were equally bad. I think even worse for Korina was that it suggested that their skill was comparable. As far as Korina thinking her stuff is great, how about Amanda who to me always comes off as the most self-satisfied one there during the runways. She could wrench out an arm with all that self back patting. They all have egos and most weeks every one of them thinks they have the winning look. They all have things to say about one another as well. We are only given what the production people decide to give us. From some of the little snippets I suspect that nearly all of them could have received the villain edit based on what production decided to do this season. Remember that scene with the guys in their apartment dishing on Sandhya after her pinwheel outfit? I'm willing to bet that got a lot more dishy than we were shown. I think Korina's biggest problem was thinking this was still a show about fashion design and creation. That ship has sailed.
  11. What bothers me is Nina accusing Korina of continously sending southwestern looks down the runway when the only other design that kind of qualified was that green and black finged dress she made or the unconventional challenge. Korina called her out on that and I really can't blame her.
  12. The first shot of Andrea walking down the street to meet Lydia for coffee started by focusing on her best asset, her legs, but once the camera panned to her signature slouch while wearing that stupid hat...suddenly she was Alice the Goon. The meeting with Andrea and Gina was ridiculous but had that delicious payoff when Gina told her cut down on the testosterone.
  13. Speaking of Alexander's model...did anyone else think she looked like Courtney, the most recent winner of Masterchef USA?
  14. Yes! Kini did manage to flatter his model's figure, which kind of shocked me considering what his outfit looked like before the runway. I thought it was a yard of lace and an applique short of the fashions Shell Keppler (she used to play Amy Vining on General Hospital) used to hawk on one of the home shopping networks years ago.
  15. Amanda continues to design like a student with above average talent in a high school home economics class. The dress this week was just plain awful. I think she would be well suited to designing for a home sewing pattern company. A lot of her stuff already looks straight from one of those paper envelopes. Considering Amanda has commented on the movement in some of her past creations, I'm surprised that aspect didn't seem to come into play at all this week. The dress was bad on the form, but it looked absolutely terrible when the model was walking toward the camera. It seemed to be a really poor choice of fabric.
  16. Posen would be the one I'd like to hang out with at a party. As for his role on the show? He's kind of a let down after Kors who was really spot on with his comments most of the time...and funny too.
  17. It's bad enough that the guest judges are often there just because they are an actress in a current film, but now Heidi seems to be chiming in more than she used to in the past. I could swear that way back in the Kors days that he and Nina had the most to say as well as the main decision making while Heidi and the non-designer guests didn't really count. Heidi may have a great body for wearing clothes, but I'm not sure she has an eye for them.
  18. Oh, Lydia! All of that business regarding her housekeeper made her look like an even bigger ass. As though it is thanks to her that her housekeeper was able to give money to her family so that they could buy farmland. No Lydia, that was due to the hard work and sacrifice of your employee, who is paid for doing a job which includes having to put up with you as well. House friend! What a "c-word". Even though I suspect Gina's date was all for the cameras, it was nice to see a mature woman on a date and not behaving like an aggressive cougar.
  19. I always suspect editing and production shenanigans being the driving force of these shows, but these women have to give them something organic to work with. This is one odious woman!
  20. I only watched for the runway to the end last night and didn't see Sandyha in action at Mood until today. She acted totally self-serving and self-centere. It says a lot for Korina that she didn't get into it with Sandyha about the rudeness. I don't think it's thick skin she was referring to, that's probably just the walls of her anus where her head seems to be firmly implanted. What was all that about showing women they can do anything...she does realize that she's designing clothes, right?
  21. Which reminds me, Sandhya's romper didn't even have a zipper, it had snaps. Snaps! Snaps from butt to neck on the back of an outfit she thought would be good for a nine year old to play and have a lot of fun in.
  22. Sailing jumpsuit....WTF! For the Good Ship Lollipop? But she's was always the only child happy and strong. But she was always nice and supportive to everyone. People put her in a bad light? No sweetheart, no need to get humble now. You did that all by yourself!
  23. I get nothing of that unless she means it literally because that is what is being stated in the script on the fabric itself. Otherwise it's just a bunch of artsy craftsy designs inspired by run of the mill eastern Asian ethnic clothing.
  24. Oh...thank you! I kept thinking he looked familiar. I was sure I had seen him on TV before. I wondered about that. No way would some of that wildlife just take a peek at them solely out of curiosity and then walk away. Those are serious predators and unprotected people would provide a nice new item on their menu that day.
  25. Make that two because I'm joining you. It recorded on the DVR and I erased it without even a peek. I'm not a stranger to trash TV, but I'm finally passing on this particular bit of nonsense. I should have done this two or three years ago.
