  1. Have you seen it Lion18? Is it available online? So it's about the Season 1 cast then....I'll watch it for sure
  2. So FYI has a ten minute show scheduled Tuesday called Married at first sight: The First Year: A Look Ahead" The description says 'An update with the couples; new season of Married at First Sight: the First Year.' Do we know what this might be about? It says it's new and it is following a replay of part two of the six month reunion of season 2
  3. That was a wonderful scene and my affection for this show grew a zillion times. This has rapidly become one of my favorites of all time. Truly enjoying it all. No need for Harry Potter references, in my mind this exceeds that series.
  4. So happy for this miniseries(?) to be on in the summer! It would have been lost if shown during the fall onslaught of shows. After this episode I find myself looking forward to the next more and more. I don't quite hate Mr. Norrell yet, because he resisted (at first) trying to bring Lady Pole back to life and thought he had made a deal for only half of her life. Somehow that translates to 75 years? I'll have to rewatch, cause I'm fuzzy on how that came about. But he is now desperate for someway out of this and he's frozen because he sees no good options. I guess I have some small amount of empathy, but dude is gonna have to do something good soon, or I will come to hate him. Loved Wellington, and Jonathan with the soldiers. That was unexpected. I think the acting in this is top notch! Bertie Carvel and Eddie Marsan are revelations!
  5. Oh me too! Best part of this episode. Oh, well, you never know. I wouldn't be accepting discs from some random after this episode.
  6. Yeah, I think it did. I must be slower than you. There were little cracks of light in the first episode.
  7. Well, crap. Life sucks and then you die, I guess. I have a feeling this might not be an uplifting show.
  8. I dunno. I really liked the pilot, but I had a hard time watching this episode. Mostly I was worried that Elliot was going to flip out on Flipper or something. The whole story with his neighbor and her supplier was horrifying. I"m glad Elliot decided to get rid of him. I have to say I'm confused as to where the story is going. Is Evil Corp evil, or is Mr. Robot? I'm in for a couple more, I think, but I want to be entertained a bit, not horrified all the way through.
  9. Regarding the drug use, I thought of it as shades of Sherlock Holmes, who also had difficulty assimilating into society and was brilliant at solving puzzles. House, MD was supposed to be a variation of the Holmes story, perhaps the show writers are channeling a bit of Sherlock here as well.
  10. Yay Dr. Pepper!!! But I fear her efforts may be futile, since there is such an avalanche of misinformation out there, and people already believe what they want to believe.
  11. I think we're supposed to feel uncomfortable with how much information Elliot can find out online about people. We're all very vulnerable. Elliot had a lot if discs in his files, I suspect he's hacked both men and women. I must be really old because I was not offended at all by the way women were portrayed in this episode, we'll see if I'm offended as the series goes on. Now a show like The Newsroom, I had a lot of trouble with the way those women were written.
  12. Well, he did a pretty good job of hacking the coffee shop/kid porno web owner guy, and the cheater, and Angela's boyfriend.
  13. Nope. Agree to disagree, as I don't see misogyny but Elliot's inability to connect with the world in the usual way. He's aware that what he is doing is wrong, but I think he knows that warning people about the dangers of social media would do less than what he's doing now. He's a hacker, he's good at it and he thinks he is choosing to do good with it. Really looking forward to the next episode.
  14. I agree with you bekind, I think far too much weight was given to the rumors and postings by "anonymous" sources hiding behind their online persona. I really didn't trust much of what was being bandied about. I was disappointed in the show because last season was so enjoyable. Even if it was fakey fake too, there was an innocence about it. And people trashed the experts just as much then as they are now, so...I just think people don't like experts. So what I saw on tv was couples who weren't really trying to be married. Davina was not willing to concede on where to live (that the show showed us) and Sean was not manning up when need be. It was never gonna work.
  15. One scene that upset me terribly (and again with the rewatch) was when Elliot was telling us about how empty he was and he was crying. He was remembering or envisioning a scene from his childhood, I think, because there was a young boy, and a woman with a cigarette in her mouth, holding his hands down on the table and she looked damn scary, as in, abusive. It looked he was remembering something pretty bad. Broke my heart a little. Or maybe I misinterpreted that scene altogether. I like the fish QWERTY and Flipper the dog. I’m sentimental that way.
  16. I don't know if it's misogynistic or just how he tries to connect with people. His friend even called him on trying to "fix" things for her, I think he knew as soon as he said anything in the meeting that he had not helped her in an appropriate way. He had social anxiety disorder or something, correct? It's very creepy how easy it is to find out about people through their online footprint. I think that's part of the show, to show how embedded our online lives are and yet how easily we'll give up our privacy without even knowing it. Also, he's kind of an anti-hero, so he may not understand women. Although, he did understand online porn was hurting someone and he 'rescued' the dog from his abusive owner. So he's not without empathy. So he may be misogynistic, but I don't think the show is, per se. That might be part of his journey, also, learning that he doesn't have the right to hack someone, just because he can.
  17. I thought there was just one anonymous source Jerseynurse or something like that. Never identified and disappeared for awhile and then returned? Also, an online poster on a forum isn't my idea of a truthful source. Just my opinion. And I'm not defending Sean, based on his behavior on TV he's not the greatest guy, however, I still think that the line between fact and fiction has become very blurry.
  18. ^this a thousand times over, but I think it may be too late.
  19. I don't disagree with you that there are double standards applied to everything, especially relationships. I think, though, that saying there are red flags because a man is in his 30s and has never had a serious relationship could also bring up red flags when applied to women. There may be MANY valid reasons why someone is unattached in their 30s, especially these days. When I was in my early 30s (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth) it was unusual to meet anyone my age who hadn't been married at least once by then. Now, for my kids' generation, it seems the norm to wait til early 30s to begin to think about settling down. It maybe just in my area of the country, but more and more people are delaying family and marriage while building careers, or enjoying their 20s. So either both Davina and Sean are players, building their careers, or have not yet met THE ONE, or there is something wrong with their approach to building a loving, lasting relationship. I'm not a big fan of Sean or Davina. I didn't want her to be dependent on him, although I didn't think she acted like a partner much either. I do think it was terrible of Sean to have waited til decision day (if indeed he did wait til then) to bust out all of his "concerns." No wonder she's so angry. Let's just say that they have both had trouble finding deeper relationships, and both need to look at why. I think Davina would probably say it's because all the men she meets do not live up to her standards, and not that maybe she needs to adjust anything about herself. THat's my opinion based on nothing more than what I've seen on TV and then on social media with the whole twitter wars (which disgust me.) I also wanted to say, I enjoy reading your posts Snarklepuss, as they are well written and thought out.
  20. I have always thought that six weeks was not long enough to see if a real marriage relationship could develop. But I guess making it 3 months or more is maybe too expensive to film?
  21. How many long term relationships had Davina had? I can't remember what her response as to why she wanted to try the experiment.
  22. Loved it!!!! Can't wait for more, and I hope it keeps up the level of writing it has shown so far.
  23. So far I am loving this. Just the right amount of humor and seriousness. Looking forward to watching this as I wait for Doctor Who to get started again.
  24. You and I may read them as "opinion" pieces, but many times they are being posted as factual, or so I perceive. Too many times I have seen them referred to as the gospel truth. Just saying, when I see something is from viralglobalnews, I don't view it as more than gossip. Similar to tabloids. In my opinion.
