William Ware Theiss designed most of the revealing costumes for ST:TOS. Whether you believe the GLW story or not, the idea behind the female uniforms were the women in comic books and their costumes. In essence, the skirt was actually kind of a flap. Costumes at the time were also colorful and often heavy on lamé. Color TV was a big factor in the show, with the primary colored sets and large flashing lights. If you watch the early episodes of ST:TNG, you will see crew members in skirts, both male and female. Of course, Troi stood out like a sore thumb because she had this strange position as a not quite commissioned member of the crew. I find it kind of funny that showing some leg is so much worse than the skin-tight pleather that's a staple of the Arrowverse.

It's kind of SOP for a show to have a cheap filler episode before the finale, but this one dragged for me. It reminded me too much of the Spear of Destiny thing. Plus, I thought the Romans were all about orgies and overconsumption. Why have a world of mush and totalitarianism? They might as well have Vandal Savage run things.

Forget about seasons, I don't know who half these people are. I know Clarke and Murphy and there's that guy who was Monty's kid and the woman with the flipper hand and Echo who everyone hates for some reason. What are the current odds the "anomaly" is a time machine that can send them back right before the apocalypse and Clarke can finally sacrifice herself stopping Alie from ending the world?

The problem with the way the show overuses Lex is it makes it obvious that the writers of the show are presenting "genius" as a convoluted plan that is executed perfectly because that's the way it was written over the course of the season. Because he's Lex Luthor, eventually Super(Man) Girl eventually finds a way to stop him at the last minute. At least in this iteration, it looks like Lex's prejudice against aliens is making him do dumb(er) things with less forethought, which is kind of his downfall anyway.

So I guess Jughead and Betty mostly took down Stonewall Prep and the preppies had varying levels of getting away with it. At least Jug got to beat up Brett. He should have given the brass knuckles to Betty for her confrontation. Last week, I figured Donna was Dupont's granddaughter and they were in it together. Oops. Chipping had already killed someone by then, so he was guilty. Dupont was guilty many times over. Grandpa Jones skipped out on his family to protect them. The other 4 idiots attempted a murder. So, did one of them commit a murder on Johnathan? I guess I'll have to watch Nancy Drew more carefully, as the writers of the show probably committed a murder to prove their mystery writing ability. That may also explain some of the weak writing on Riverdale. Those writers probably never murdered anyone.

It would explain why Charles isn't in a sinister plot with Chick during this episode. The problem is that the Riverdale writers are mediocre. Trying to emulate Jughead's writing, which is supposed to be great, within the show itself is beyond their skill level. They still pulled their punches. All the underwear scenes were in dim lighting. What does "Elmo" refer to? One thing that Betty did mention within the group is that she would have tried to put Jughead's brains back inside his head if she were not drugged. If his brains were visible, there's not much chance he's making a recovery.

I like Adam, but his backstory started out super dark. Fallon is becoming a caricature and boring because the stunts are always the same. Blake is just floundering and Anders is completely wasted now.

The writers did a poor job of wrapping up Crisis, especially with the stupid "Lex is awesome" rewrite of the Book of Destiny. However, Lena remembers the original history, so her interactions with Kara from original Earth affect her choices now, instead of the patched together post-Crisis history. The Lena arc is similar to the Rosenbaum Lex Luthor arc on Smallville. They start out being honestly good people trying to make up for the bad name of Luthor, then suddenly become villains because they didn't get praised enough for their efforts. Coddling Lena wasn't working. Kara needed to tell her she was on the wrong path.

On the plus side, I guess the Dynasty writers can identify an intentionally bad story. The Adam and Kirby stuff seems weird. And why does Adam want to remain a doctor? He can poison people without a license.

What struck me is that Betty *invited* Archie and Veronica to the lame-ass prep school party. I guess it could be to spend quality time, but I think there is a plan that involves Archie and Veronica being there. Plus, wasn't Archie attacked by a bear less than a year ago? Stonewall prep has gotten stale and unfortunately there are still a bunch of episodes to go. I hate these season arcs because Stonewall / Bret has to keep winning and is prepared for every contingency up until the last episode when everything gets resolved. Maybe they can bring back Chipping, too.

Word! to everything you wrote. For about 3 episodes, TVD tried to deal with Damon by putting him in a dungeon. Then they just gave up and decided that a handful of terrorized dead women per year was the price for Damon's over-hyped strategy skills. The Originals were about a bunch of murderous vampires who killed thousands over the years, so it was more about every human around them being corrupted. A ten-year prison sentence seemed about right for the students. Two were more or less reformed and the other one got the death penalty... unless he found the Malivore pit.
